That was post-Zero Hour, but everything got rebooted again in 2004. Once I got caught up with the Waid/Kitson reimagined Legion, I made a new updated Brainiac 5.

Yeah, Trip's fun, especially given that she really has no powers beyond Duplication and as a PL5 is about as tough as a well-trained soldier. Nothing to sneer at, but not superhero material, you'd think. But she's great at what she needs to do. :D

:arrow: Brainiac 5 isn’t a whole lot different in the newest reboot, but offensively he is even weaker than before. He can usually jury-rig a weapon when he needs to, and is a decent enough shot with ranged weapons, but usually doesn’t involve himself in battle. Brainiac’s force fields are legendary; rather than go with the eponymous power, I used Force Construct, essentially a Create Object that can only produce cover.

:arrow: This build includes Brainiac’s laboratory but not the many Imskian assistants who help him with his work.

You know I always drop by your thread. After having to write up some originals and doing full-fledged backgrounds instead of straight conversions, I know how much effort and time it takes for you to make your very complete original characters. Can't wait to see your contest idea.

So did I, originally. Communication Limited to a certain group just doesn't work as well as Commlink. Communication is probably best if you're not using fixed point-to-point. Commlink seems like it was built off of Communication somehow with a lot more limitations. Though not completely rules legit, it seems reasonable to allow Progression in this case, to expand the subjects of Commlink.

Thanks for noticing. I was pretty proud of that, myself.

Heh, you're not judging, so it should be okay. :lol: It was a great suggestion for a contest, Tonpa, and I think you've gotten many people on the board excited and creating entries. :D

:arrow: Cosmic Boy is arguably the most powerful member of the Legion. As a former magnoball player, he is quite gifted physically but his command of his magnetic powers is what sets him apart. Then again, his presence is what draws people towards him, and he is without a doubt the most charismatic and capable leader of the Legion.

:arrow: Cosmic Boy can do the usual stunts and feats with his Magnetic Control, including creating force constructs. He can use his Magnetic Control to counter many powers and effects that have an electromagnetic descriptor, such as when he pierced Brainiac 5’s force fields. One time, he had Star Boy and Light Lass use their Gravity Control powers to aid him in creating a force construct capable of containing a full powered Sun Boy.

:!: Update 11/29/06 :!: I decided to update Cosmic Boy to his Waid/Kitson reimagined version. Like all the LSH members after this most recent reboot, he is much more archetypal.


Once I find or scan some new pics for Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl, I'll have to update them, too.

:arrow: Here’s my favorite Legionnaire from the recent reboot. Dream Girl was originally trained as a Precommando, Naltorian enforcers who use their precognitive powers to gain the upper hand in combat, and though she did not finish her training, she was the most gifted of all of them. Dream Girl is still rather weak in combat and relies on her teammates to do the actual combat.

:arrow: Dream Girl’s precognitive ability grants her many benefits. Her actual Precognition power works better when she is asleep, so the GM should feel free to provide far-reaching visions while she is dreaming, but only short-term glimpses when she is awake. She can use this to provide “precognitive do-overs” as described in Ultimate Power. In addition, Dream Girl’s variable power gives her the Second Chance feat against any hazard on reaction.


Nicely done. I'm glad to see her, she's one of my favorite Legionnaires.

:arrow: Batroc’s a pretty formidable martial artist with a focus on his acrobatic ability, making him somewhat of an analogue to Nightwing. Batroc has supposedly extremely well developed leg muscles allowing him to make extraordinary leaps, but I think the Acrobatics skill should cover that more or less. He has a military and criminal background and quite skilled overall, but it seems writers can’t decide whether to make him a credible opponent to such heroes as Captain America or simply write him off as a stock character with a funny accent.

:!: Update 11/12/09 :!: I expected to make some major changes considering this build is three years old, but it seems to stand up reasonably well. I removed his armor but kept his whip-cane. His equipment is kind of variable depending on his appearance.
