 Not too much is known about Galactus’ newest herald, save that she is likely among the most powerful. Composed almost entirely of cosmic energy, she can reform herself from apparent death and manipulate the Power Cosmic in ways that no other herald can. Stardust’s signature stunt is the forming of dimensional rifts and portals that she can use offensively. Stardust will revert to an energy form in response to physical attacks, thus appearing to disperse, but has to reassume a solid form in order to unleash physical attacks. On occasion, Stardust has used a staff to serve as a focus for her cosmic blasts, but it seems largely ornamental.

Whoa! She's a beast. I have never seen her before. I guess I will have to look for her now.

Stormbreaker and Annihilation were my main sources. Wasn't aware she made an appearance in FF, but then, I don't read FF. :P

it's also worth noting that Startdust's gender has been questioned, much like OoTS' Vaarsuevius

Something nitpicky, Taliesin, but on your Batman update, unless I am missing something, you have his unarmed damage +6. I think you removed his martial strike or strike, so shouldn't it be +5?

Nice redux. I need to rework mine, too, but too many other items to stock right now.

Check out his Costume. :P He packs his gloves with lead shot, effectively making them function as brass knuckles.

Ah, I figured I missed something somewhere. See, that's what I get for being nitpicky! Lord knows I'm not on my own builds.

I'm loving the heralds. Surfer is still my favorite, no matter how many "cooler" heralds they try to come up with.

Two-Face / Harvey Dent

Power Level: 8 (120pp)

Abilities: STR: 16 (+3), DEX: 16 (+3), CON: 16 (+3), INT: 16 (+3), WIS: 12 (+1), CHA: 16 (+3)

Skills: Bluff 8 (+12), Diplomacy 8 (+12), Gather Information 8 (+11), Intimidate 12 (+15), Knowledge [Civics] 12 (+15), Knowledge [Streetwise] 12 (+15), Notice 8 (+9), Profession [Lawyer] 12 (+13), Stealth 8 (+11)

Feats: Ambidexterity, Attack Specialization [Pistol], Connected, Contacts, Defensive Roll 2, Dodge Focus 2, Equipment 4, Fearsome Presence, Master Plan, Minions 6 (25 Thugs, rank 2), Quick Draw, Sneak Attack, Startle, Tough

Equipment: Double-headed coin (0ep), Double-barrelled pistol (as Heavy Pistol; 8ep), Two Light Pistols (9ep): Blast 4 (Power Feat: Split Attack)

Combat: Attack +8 / +10 (Pistol); Damage +3 (Unarmed) / +4 (Double-barrelled pistol) / +4 (Two light pistols, Split Attack) // +2 (Sneak Attack); Defense +10 (+4 flat-footed); Initiative +1

Saves: Toughness +6 (+4 flat-footed), Fortitude +6, Reflex +6, Will +4

Abilities 32 + Skills 23 (92 ranks) + Feats 24 + Powers 0 + Combat 32 + Saves 9 – Drawbacks 0 = Total 120

Complications: Honor (will only commit crime if double-headed coin comes up scarred), Obsession (with duality)

 In my opinion the most psychologically interesting of Batman’s extensive rogues gallery, Two-Face is a glorified version of the crime lord supporting character. He is incredibly skilled in interaction skills, owing to his background as a district attorney, but terrible in resisting interaction skills, with no ranks in Sense Motive.

 Two-Face favors a double-barrelled pistol or two light pistols. If he uses the latter, he can fire them together or separately using Split Attack. He’s still somewhat a lightweight, but the main reason he gives Batman so much trouble is that Batman is so keen on redeeming his former friend.

 When his Two-Face personality is submerged and his face is restored, Harvey Dent boasts a rank of Attractive rather than Fearsome Presence.

:!: Update 7/28/07 :!: I beefed up Two-Face a bit. I also treated Harvey Dent’s duality with Two-Face and his need to consult his coin to perform any criminal act as Complications.

I used to not include Complications, since I felt that those changed from issue to issue, game to game, but there are certain characters whose Complications are an integral part of their builds. Batman, for example, gets Hero Points from his Complications left and right. Two-Face is another example of someone who feels empty without those Honor and Obsession Complications.

What, Guy Fawkes was hanged, drawn, and quartered? Uh…

V

Power Level: 10 (150pp)

Abilities: STR: 18 (+4), DEX: 20 (+5), CON: 18 (+4), INT: 20 (+5), WIS: 18 (+4), CHA: 14 (+2)

Feats: Acrobatic Bluff, Ambidexterity, Attack Specialization [Knife], Benefit (No Identity), Dodge Focus 2, Elusive Target, Equipment 9, Evasion, Improved Initiative, Master Plan, Quick Draw, Sneak Attack 2, Startle, Stunning Attack, Takedown Attack 2

Powers:
Immunity 1 (Disease; 1pp)
Super-Senses 2 (Darkvision; 2pp)

Equipment: Guy Fawkes mask (0ep), Tactical vest (4ep)

Arsenal (30ep array)
Dynamite (1ep)
Knives (1ep): Blast 1 (Extra: Improved Critical, Mighty 4)
Tear gas grenades (28ep)

Headquarters “The Shadow Gallery” (10ep)
Size: Huge; Toughness: 15; Features: Concealed, Laboratory, Library, Living Space, Workshop

Combat: Attack +10 / +12 (Knife); Damage +5 (Knife, 19-20 Crit) / +3 (Sneak Attack); Defense +12 (+5 flat-footed); Initiative +9

Saves: Toughness +8, Fortitude +8, Reflex +8, Will +8

Abilities 48 + Skills 21 (84 ranks) + Feats 26 + Powers 3 + Combat 40 + Saves 12 – Drawbacks 0 = Total 150

Complications: Hatred (the Norsefire government), Reputation (as an anarchist)

 At first glance, V’s build is not a whole lot different from other costumed adventurer archetypes, but then, it’s his personality and the masterful storytelling of Moore that define him as much as his capabilities. V is a goon-sweeper extraordinaire and can clear a room of mooks in a round, especially given his feat combination of Master Plan, Sneak Attack, and Takedown Attack and his choice of Acrobatic Bluff or Startle.

Har-V and V

Postby Tusitala » Sat Jul 28, 2007 7:44 pm

I like the fact that you gave Harv 16 strength. In Batman: Year One he has a bench press in his /office/.

Slight miscalculation on V's initiative...should be +9 instead of +8. Otherwise, an excellent rendition.

I've always thought he'd have Knowledges: Art, Philosophy, and Pop Culture. Mainly from the contents of the Shadow Gallery in the comic.

Also...did why did you give his knives the Blast power? I'm assuming to represent his throwing ability, but I'm quite sure there's some rules catch involved that my novice skills cannot discern. :-)

Likely because it's cleaner and faster than using a Thrown Damage effect, and at that point it comes out to the same.

I am curious as to why you didn't apply Mighty to the knives, though, since they are thrown weapons. Anything in particular behind that?

I did give the knives 4 ranks of Mighty, so he could apply his Strength bonus to the ranged damage...

Thanks for the catch on the Initiative bonus.

As for Blast vs. Thrown Strike. V gets unlimited ammo with Blast. :P

Sorry to bother, Taliesin, but I was wondering if you could help me with a character I'm making. I already have it statted out, and I was just needing someone better at this than me to look over it. If you're too busy, or just flat out don't want to I'll fully understand.
