Hmm, I did do a Galactus build, but I think I need to go back and phase out that Wide Extra. I've been meaning to go back and get rid of that Extra from my builds, and I guess the planet-devourer just dropped off my radar somehow...

That's . . . a pretty crappy radar, I've got to say. I'm pretty sure that, with his bright purple underpants and silly hat, Galactus is not exactly the epitome of stealth technology.

Tsk. I always knew the McRadar Suite was the worst of those Happy Meal toys. At least with the McSidewinders you get an explosion most of the time.

On a more relevant note, what's next on your building agenda, Tali?

Let's see...I have a few requests to hit. Don't know if I want to finish up with the heralds Air-Walker and Nova. There's Spawn, for which I'm doing a more classic build. A bunch of D&D-ish builds. I've got some half-finished Wheel of Time builds. Some of the non-super-powered Bat-villains (Riddler, Penguin, etc.). Flash's rogues gallery, now that West is back. Ultimate versions of some Marvel characters.

Probably missing a few things I've intended to do, but feel free to remind me of a request and see if my brain has come up with anything good for them yet.

Looks good. I'm especially looking forward to the fantasy characters; I'm still on the hunt for good people to send Master Tormentor Morghoul after. :D

I'm sure they're still on your back burner, for reasons you've stated before, but I'll go ahead and mention that my requests for Soul Calibur and Street Fighter III characters (particularly Ibuki) are still open.

 Heeeere’s Johnny! He’s got another dynamic array with a lot of goodies packed into it. The base power of the array is a collection of three linked powers. His sheath of flame is represented by an Aura Strike that he can turn on and off at will and has Extended Reach, so it can project up to five feet from his body, but he can also choose which parts of his body are on fire. While “flamed on,” the Human Torch can fly at supersonic speeds and generate a force field around himself. The intensity of his flames when he channels it towards other ends, and Johnny can do pretty much anything with them: he can Blast enemies, generate Shapeable flame barriers or Shape his Blast into a trail behind him (same as Area Trail but with less area), create fire shapes of all kinds (including flaming duplicates of himself), increase the heat in the environment, control existing flames, and finally, he can Nullify existing flames within range (sort of like Absorption Power Magnet without the Boost).

 Johnny is immune to fire damage; anything hotter than a million degrees Celsius could burn him, but in that case, the descriptor should be on the power and not on Johnny’s Immunity. I’m especially proud of this update to the Fantastic Four’s uniforms, using Mimic to represent unstable molecules. The uniform Mimics whatever it is touching, which can and has been used against them, but normally Mimics the wearer.

 The Human Torch is a really heavy hitter with his Blast, having the highest damage-dealing potential of his teammates. Johnny is the type to liberally use Extra Effort to dial up his Blast or go Nova, stunting an Explosion centered on himself. He cannot produce his flames in a vacuum or other environment devoid of oxygen, however, a limitation that Reed Richards has, on occasion, circumvented with an Invention (an Atmo-Suit or whatever it was called).

I thought that The Human Torch was more of a Alternate Form (fire) type. In most comics (read: all that I have read) he cannot actually manipulate or control fire unless he "flames on". He did exhibit the ability to increase temperature of an area, but not like a fire effect - he could only make it 200 degrees or so. Paper doesn't burn until 451. I think he can raise it enough to cause a spontaneous combustion but that is the max of his power unless he goes full form "flame on".

I think this was a good build - but I it feels more like a fire projector that doesn't have to transform into fire.

I think the Ultimates version of him could create flame like this but I do not believe that the others could. I just like to play devil's advocate on builds I guess. I am probably going to start dropping some builds of my own soon too, to give others a chance to do the same. Don't get me wrong - I like the build and I can see how it does mimic the form change - but not all the time.

Actually, thinking about the control he has over the fire it might be hard to pull of the alternate form (fire) because he can just ignite parts of himself to use the power. His control over his powers is amazing... I guess I just expected to see the alternate form (fire) version.

I think you are too hung up on the name of the power rather than the actual effect.

Second, the powers that require him to "flame on" are Linked to the Aura Strike (which is what flaming on is). Only his Flight and Force Field powers are linked to the Strike Aura--he can only fly when flaming, and the flaming aura protects him while it is on. The other powers are not Linked and do not actually require the aura to be on in order to use.

Not that I wouldn't change the build, because I would, but it already does everything that the Human Torch is supposed to be able to do, and if I were to change the build to incorporate Alternate Form, it wouldn't be for the reasons you've delineated, and the non-Linked powers would be outside the Alternate Form container.

But again, M&M is effects-based at heart, at least in the basis of the powers system. Look at what the powers actually do, not what they're called.

I made a build with the alternate form (fire) - yours represents the Torch better I think. I am going to toy with my build a little more but I have only been toying with M&M for a few months. Your builds have been awesome as learning tools. Thanks.

I definitely would move some of his powers into an Alternate Form container, just not all of them. The reason is so he could activate them all at once without worrying about messiness using Linked.
