No one knows where and when the German villain known as Zeitgeist hails from. He was first encountered in the 20th century in Nazi Germany, aiding the Third Reich. He claims to be from the far future, in service to the Oberfuhrer of the Eternal Reich. He also claims to be a Time Policeman, making sure no one changes history to prevent the rise of the Eternal Reich. He could be insane, or he could come from a truly vile future, as he claims. Either way, in the 21st Century, he works for Aryan ascendance and the rise of a New Reich. He has worked with Sheusel and Jaeger (all three of them) in the past, and has fought almost every patriotic Western hero since 1941.

Zeitgeist at first fights like a run of the mill speedster, if a very fast one. He does Move-By attacks, Rapid Attacks, etc. Then, when his opponents least expect it, he ups the ante, and starts playing with time. He slows them down or even freezes them in time, in large groups, selectively, at range. He moves in and out of step with time, placing just enough of himself back in contact with normal time that he can hurt people who are still conventionally present…or putting just enough of himself out of phase with normal time so that he can directly hurt ghosts, time-shadows, and other incorporeal figures. His strike is a devastating time-stutter of his hands, like a buzz saw effect. It’s like being cut up by monofilament blades set on frappe. He will hurt you. He will like it. And in his mind, the Reich is already eternal.

This Beowulf circa the Battle for Heorot, his little tussle with Grendel. He was a good enough swimmer to disport himself with whales, could hold his breath while fighting underwater, and, if you’ll recall ripped Grendel’s arm off in a ‘arm wrestling’ match…Norse arm wrestling being much more like what we call ‘Mercy’ today. He was stronger than any normal man, faster, etc…but not to the outrageous levels modern super heroes were. But heroes of the sagas were the superheroes of the day. So, here ya go, Godfallen.

Here's an interesting little bit of Mythological Trivia:

Beowulf was originally Danish.

Just one of those little "Facts a Day" that keep the shrinks away.

Um. Probly true. It's been a while, and i read it in Anglo-Saxon the first time, so it's sort of indelibly stamped on my brain as a Saxon story.

Aha! He's the Founder of the Danish house...but he himself was originally a Geat...they had territory where Sweden is now. And the oldest surviving text is in Anglo-Saxon, because the Danes brought it with them when they invaded England. Repeatedly.:) Of course, the Saxons are from the area just south of Denmark, and the Angles are from what is now Germany.
The Jutes are from what is now Denmark, but hate the Danes...

Damn it, Jack! How do you come up with so many ideas? I'm stuck at around 40, and your index seems to have over a hundred (couldn't be bothered to count).

I shall now vent my anger at this poor pillow. Not for the faint of heart and children. If you do have a heart made out of children, I want to eat it.

You do realise all this is being recorded by the Inquisition, don't you? 8)

Um. The index is, of course, a touch premature, only the linked ones have been statted for M&M2. All of them had M&M 1st Ed stats...and these are only a relatively careful selection of the super characters I have in my campaign. Ideas are easy. As Gaiman says, they come out of my head...It's statting them that is hard. Well. Harder. I wish I could draw, so they all had pics to match the images in my head.

Well, ideas are easy. Original ones that are stattable are not. Most of my characters are either overused ideas or completely unstattable in a game.

Nah. That would be, like, boring. And cheating. Thanks for the offer, though.
