Wow. You actually did him.

I've always been afraid to give him stats given what he's been shown to do.

Very nice Galactus man.

Galactus is a lot easier to figure out with the Silver Surfer & co. already being done- Area Effect Blasts with tons of APs. Alot of the rest you have to kind of ignore/handwave (especially empowering Heralds, which would add over a hundred PP to the build), or chalk up to his super-powered equipment.

So that about does it for my "Cosmic" Builds. I either forgot about everyone else, or had plans to do them later (Jack Flagg, for instance, has barely done ANYTHING after his debut at all, and Darkhawk is still very unproven, with a newly-befitted Variable Power array on his outfit from the looks of it).

Next up is some JSA-themed builds. With JSA All-Stars #1 just having come out (it's a surprisingly good read, after the disappointment of Willingham/Sturges' first JSA series of issues), a few of the members are in easily higher levels that I'd first built them at, so it's time for the Newbies to get some power upgrades. Since I already did My Beloved Cyclone, it'll be new builds of Wildcat III & Damage, an original King Chimera, plus some builds of the "Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E." series, with Courtney & Pat having updated versions from that series, plus a new, refurbished modern-day Stargirl build. I'll also do minor villains from that series Shiv and Paintball. Oh, and the rest of the Injustice Society I haven't built yet.

After that, it's more DCU stuff- it's a full-on Colour Spectrum of Ring-slingers. I'll have sample Devices of every Corps that's presently in-use, sample PL 9-11 Green Lanterns, and Racial Templates for every alien GL or SC member in that "Tales of the Sinestro Corps" Trade. Most of the seriously unique members of the various Corps will have their own builds as well.

So in total, that's:

DCU Alien Templates
Green Lantern Ring
Sinestro Corps Ring
Red Lantern Ring
Indigo Tribe Ring/Staff
Larfleeze & Orange Lanterns
Star Sapphire Ring
Blue Lantern Ring
Black Lantern Template (once Blackest Night is over)
---
Sample GL Templates
Sample Sinestro Templates
Hal Jordan
Kyle Rayner
John Stewart
Guy Gardner
Kilowog
Sinestro
Kryb
Bedovian
Arkillo
Mongul
Carol Ferris
Atrocitus
Saint Walker
---
Star-Spangled Kid II
S.T.R.I.P.E.
Stargirl (update)
Damage (update)
Wildcat III (update)
King Chimera
Paintball
Shiv
Johnny Sorrow
Geomancer

Wow, that's an ambitious list of stuff.

This may sound appalling ignorant, but I just finished Sinestro Corps War and I'm wondering: how much difference is there really between the various color spectrum ring slingers?

P.S.: I've never been much for cosmic comics -- I like to keep my space opera in its place and my comics somewhere else. However, I've really enjoyed your latest run of builds.

Not a LOT... the Sinestros & GLs are basically identical, minus a few weaknesses. Star Sapphires are pretty similar as well. But most of the non-Green & Yellow Lanterns have at least a handful of APs that put them apart.

And the list is made less ambitious (and thus I can do it in normal time) because I've already done most of the ground-work. I've thrown in GL/Sinestro builds here and there during my other big stretches just for the hell of it, in order to build a backlog of them.

-Another "Alex Ross sorta created him, so let's make him be born now" character (joining Cyclone & Starman VIII), Wildcat III is based off of the appearance of the black panther guy in Kingdom Come, produced here as a 'long-lost son' kind of guy, a cynical young adult who appears sarcastic towards superheroics, but nonetheless reveals his powers during the fight against Vandal Savage. A purely 'newbie' hero, he barely even knew how to fight early-on, and a few years in, he isn't that much better of a fighter. He's now CAPABLE, but never does any major damage. He's now joined the "All-Stars" squad of hero trainees, and at least is being shown in human form more often (for about two years, he was ONLY in panther-form). He's also notable for being drawn differently by nearly every damn artist who handles him :). Between he & The Beast, I'm starting to get that nobody outside of the Furry Fandom knows how to draw Cat People properly- his head's always a different shape, sometimes he looks more like a dog or ape, and his musculature is always changing.

-My old Tommy build was PL 6 (69), and properly showcased a very poor fighter with some physical bonuses (he was laughably incompetent at fighting his father, and most villains pretty handily wiped the floor with him), but now he's gotten much better. A PL 8 to fit most of the other "Trainee" JSAers (Cyclone, Citizen Steel), he's a better fighter with some Feats on him, and has a modified "Cat Form" power, as I realize now that if you can't STOP the change, then it doesn't count as a Normal Identity Drawback. Tommy's a BIT capable now, but is still very vulnerable- slightly more accurate and defensive than strong or tough, he lacks the Will Save or even the Power Attack of a really capable fighter. He'll improve, but not yet.

-Figures that the only comic book character who shares my first name would be THIS loser... Damage has got to have one of the weirdest places in all of DC canon by this point. He just doesn't FIT IN anywhere; the guy's the stolen son of Al (Atom I) Pratt, infused with the genes of every hero ever just about, raised by evil corporate people, spent most of his heroic career as a Titan, and the rest as either a Freedom Fighter or now, as a JSAer. And with all those heroic genes, the best powers he's got are generic boost stuff, and an epic damaging blast. Originally a 'dumb nice guy' rookie hero archetype, now he's gone into 'bitter badass' zone, hoping to recover as a true JSA member.

-The funny thing about his later characterization is how UNLIKEABLE he is. While he has reason to be bitter, he's turned into a GIANT whiner, constantly grumbling, bitching and moaning, even professing to HATE ICE CREAM at one point. Then when he finally got made pretty by Gog, he shifted totally the other way, becoming a smirking, vain douchebag obsessed with his newfound beauty. It's almost a gag how unpleasant he's being. My personal favourite Damage moment is when my favourite JSAer & Man-Crush, Atom Smasher, basically hauled him down and beat the living CRAP out of him, while calling him Vanity Smurf. Last we saw, he got his heart ripped out in Blackest Night, so we'll see if that sticks.

-Wow, talk about not costing the points the build would expect. Problem with Grant is that he's got very little true characterization in spite of it all, leaving him with very few skills (he spent some time with Arsenal's tribe, so I figured he'd have some Survival skills, but that's it) and feats, it having been established that he's just not that good a hero yet. But then he's got this monstrously damaging power, sometimes getting a little bit out of hand by the writers (destroying Atlanta? Restarting the Universe?), but lacks control over it, thus he's got a +11 Blast with General Targetting. The best way I found to show a power with little control that needs 'recharging' is to put a Full Power drawback on, but allow him the option of funnelling the blast into boosts and leaping. Another weakness is that he's always full-on Blast 11 Area Burst, so he can't shrink it or use it in team situations without severely injuring them (like he did to Liberty Belle in one of his first fights). So Damage is actually really highly-powered, being well beyond the other PL 8 trainees in damage output and general danger, but he's still not that great a fighter, and has no social ability to work with.

-Geomancer's just a one-note lameoid DC supervillain, created to threaten Sandy "Sand" Hawkins during his new run as JSA Team Leader. The very first trade of the revamped series ended with the JSA Chairman suddenly developing Geokinetic powers to offset his general uselessness as a guy with gas guns on a team where even the non-powered people were martial artists of vast skill. It was kind of clumsily done (though at least it made sense, since Sand used to be a sand-monster), but really, Sand needed SOME bonuses.
-So Sand developed these powers, then detected this Geomancer loser threatening people in the Congo. A short fight later, and Geomancer went down to a chokehold. He popped up later on the Injustice Society, a collection of JSA recurring adversaries, where Wildcat trounced him with ease. He's so minor a character that his third or fourth appearance was his dead body, having had a brain aneurysm when teammate Icicle tried to free him from the Ultra-Humanite's Suspended Animation Pods (tm). Though that whole event had the Cosmic Re-Set Button pressed on it, Geomancer has yet to return, so maybe that one death DID stick.

-Poor Geomancer never really got shown doing anything but causing an Earthquake while screaming alot. Sand, just learning to use his powers, managed to beat him after a pretty simple fistfight, and he was even more easily disposed-of later, so he's no elite powerhouse. He's PL 9 with his varied attacks using what I assume are Devices (he's got big gauntlets on) rather than actual super-powers, but is WAY under-cost.

Thanks for the JSA stuff, Jab. I've enjoyed the current series so much that I went back and bought the entire previous run in TPBs. And, coincidentally, I was going to read both Annihilation series after New Year's. You should be getting kickbacks from the comic publishers!

OBSERVE: The hugest tool in the universe.

KING CHIMERA- Modern-Day JSA All-Stars
PL 8 (116)

ST 14 (+2) DEX 18 (+4) CON 16 (+3) INT 20 (+5) WIS 14 (+2) CHA 8 (-1)

Skills:
Acrobatics 4 (+8)

Intimidate 5 (+4)
Knowledge (Current Events) 3 (+8)
Notice 4 (+6)
Sense Motive 2 (+4)
Stealth 3 (+7)

Feats:
Attractive, Beginner's Luck, Dodge Focus 2, Jack-of-All-Trades

Powers:
Illusion 10 (Visual- All Sense Types & Auditory) [41]
AP: Invisibility

Saves:
Toughness +3, Fortitude +5, Reflex +6, Will +4

Combat:
Attack +6, Damage +2 (+10 Illusion Checks), Defense +7 (+9 Dodge), Initiative +4

Abilities: 30 / Skills: 32--8 / Feats: 5 / Powers: 41 / Saves: 6 / Combat: 26 (116)

-King Chimera was rather controversially added to the Justice Society's line-up in the first arc of Bill Willingham & Matt Sturges' run on the series. It was heavily derided online because, well, the team already had over TWENTY MEMBERS by this point, so adding him, plus The All-American Kid (really a spy) and Doctor Fate MXCCIV (pretty sure that's the right number) was really just making every fan's #1 problem with the series even WORSE. That said, they gave him a unique voice, and on JSA All-Stars, he will likely come into his own. As a character, he's a snotty upper-class twit with a chip on his shoulder, thinking everyone around him is a useless fool. But at the same time, he realizes he needs proper training and experience, so he goes with Power Girl & Magog's "Offshoot" team with it's militaristic training plan. Me, I dislike the character, but in that GOOD way that makes me want to see more of his annoying ass, as he gets put in his place. But on the other hand, he's now captured the eye of MY BELOVED CYCLONE, and if he hurts her, I will make him pay.

-Oddly, he's a legacy of "King" Standish, a really old superhero who basically has zero appearances after 1945 (and yes, I've ACTUALLY STATTED THE GUY, amazingly enough- he was in my "All-Star Squadron" run, and it's the only reason I knew this guy's predecessor before it was even mentioned in-comic). A Master of Disguise-themed hero, his successor has in-born illusory powers, which makes him quite unique on a team of entirely offensive-based attackers.

-King Chimera has only been seen for about six or seven individual comics just yet, so he's not exactly well-known or expensive. But his powers are relatively simple to figure out- he can cast REALLY good Illusions, enough that Super-Sense-wielding Power Girl can't even spot him if he doesn't want to be seen (basically the All Sense Type Visual Senses, plus Auditory because his illusions make noise). It's not a major offensive power, and it makes him a PL 10 in "make the bad guys take Sense Motive/Notice saves at DC +10" way (as opposed to actually hurting people or otherwise fighting), so he's a bit weaker than his comrades. But he's a bit pricier, being a genius (how much of that is his own horn-tooting has yet to be entirely revealed...), but he lacks the Skill-set to properly utilize it (much like the similarly genius-level Cyclone). He's in pretty good shape for a "trickster" hero, too, though that might just be the All-Stars artist drawing him (and everybody else) hyper-muscular.

-Reading the original "Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E." series is funny stuff as far as looking back on the character of Courtney Whitmore goes. Compared to the mature, reasonable young girl of today, she's a snide, arrogant little brat, frequently disrespectful not only to her hated stepfather Pat Dugan, but pretty much every adult in her vicinity. Idealizing her absentee birth-father, Courtney hates this new guy who's intruded into her life and force her to move to (ugh) Blue Valley, Nebraska. One day, she discovers the Cosmic Converter Belt in Pat's stuff, steals it while telling Pat "by the way... your costume SUCKED!", and she immediately gets into a ton of trouble.

-The series is very odd... it's clearly made to appeal to teenage girls (the hero is a relatively flat-chested, skinny girl with braces), and has very cartoonish, exaggerative art. She has a mini-crush on a side character named Josh, and a school rival in "Shiv" (herself the personification of the Evil Rich Popular Girl), who of course is the daughter of a super-villain, and a big fat guy as a bully also. Problem is, the series only lasted a short while, and spent a bunch of time in the fighting, and too little on the character-stuff at school, which meant we never got additional information on Josh & the bully until the series was gone. Courtney's friend Mary was a little better, but even SHE went about a DECADE without being seen, appearing at Stargirl's birthday party in a recent JSA issue. I wonder if there's a comic series in the future devoted to all the supporting cast that becomes homeless when their heroes' comics get cancelled.

-Courtney as a starting-out "Star-Spangled Kid" is a different ball of wax than what came later. This Courtney is less clever, pretty or skillful, and doesn't have the benefit of the Cosmic Rod either. She's a PL 7 who's nonetheless quite strong (in one issue she tears S.T.R.I.P.E.'s ARM off- and while that's a fragile damn piece of equipment, that's a pretty big feat), which is suprising to those who read JSA, where she's like twelfth in line for physical might. Her only big feats I can even think of for her powers involve her knocking down a CAR that Shiv threw at her, and that (and the aforementioned arm-ripping) are about the ONLY things she's ever done to really imply Super-Strength! So I'll give her a +6 Damage bonus alongside Power Attack and call 'er even.

-The Cosmic Converter Belt is actually a REALLY good Device, though, boosting all her physical stats, giving her Super-Strength, and the "Shooting Stars", a Stunning Autofire attack that can nullify people's senses, or make mechanical devices go haywire. Still, this Courtney is more lucky than good.
