Just a little detour before going back to the final streak of VH1 builds.

:arrow: Atalanta is a low level paragon mixed with a weapon master, the final result is something close to a possible Captain America or DC's Hippolyta build

:arrow: the Elixir can last a very long or short time according to the GM needs, so I decided to make it a complication more than a drawback, if Atalanta is unable to drink it she reverts back to her base stats and she suffers the modificators for Old Age

:arrow: unarmed she is reduced to PL 7.5 on both offense and defense


Personal Notes

Matter of fact I really like the Freedom City setting and I think that the villain selection is just great, but Medea of the Crime League always troubled me. I mean it's a good villain with a good inspiration and a good range of powers a nd abilities, but her characterization is a little too flat. So I created Atalanta mainly to give a little more BG to Medea and to add a little twist to her characterization.

Background

Full name: Atalanta daughter of Iasus, princess of Arcadia
Citizenship: Greek citizen with no criminal records
Birth: around the 1400 BC, Arcadia, Greece
Profession: Adventurer
Active as hero: 1966 - 1981 (with Euronet), more or less all of recorded human history

Personality

Two very different aspect coexists in Atalanta's character. On one hand she is mortally afraid of any powerful feeling - during her life she had many friends and lovers but she outlived all of them so she has started to embitter herself attempting to reduce her sufferings - so she is susally quite detacted and cold toward anybody. On the other hand she really want to let herself go, to be free to laugh, to cry and to love again.

Genetic factor

It's unknown if Atalanta was originally the carrier of any Gene-Factor (which is highly probable), but her current mystical induced state makes all analisys inconclusive.

Generations factor

During her millenia long life Atalanta has sired various children, the majority possessed only a minuscular fragment of her powers, but some may have inherited more. This fact brought some people to speculate if she is somehow related with Tarrasque.

Origin

More or less what legends told about Atalanta is correct, she was born in Arcadia, only child of king Iasus and queen Clymene. Her father abandoned her in the wood, because he desired male children, but a female bear adopted her. Many years later she returned to her parents she was now stronger and faster than any warrior in the realm, not to mention a far better hunter. Along many other famous warriors she participate to the hunt for the Calydonian Boar and later she participated to the games to form the Argonauts. Despite her fame and skill many of the other argonauts resented the idea of a woman among their ranks, especially Jason, so she had to disguise herself. During the journey back to Greece, after the stole of the Golden Fleece, she became a very close friend of Medea, even defending her from the lust of her crewmates. Years later, when Jason decided to marry princess Glauce of Thebes, Atalanta travelled to his palace and challenged to duel as champion of her friend. Jason refused saying that it was no matter of her to question his choice in women and ordered his guards to kill Atalanta, in the end, despite a fierce resistance, she was subdued and apparently killed. After the fight her body was dumped out of the palace and Medea secretly recovered her. Using a highly dangerous and untested elixir (a version of the one she used in the next centuries to stop her own aging) she tried to bring Atalanta back to life. The experiment was success beyond Medea's wildest expetations, not only Atalanta was back but she was also stronger than ever. For a while the two women stitched together, but after Medea killed her rival, her children and essentialy destroyed the kingdom of Thessalia, Atalanta decided to venture alone in search for her own way. For a couple of centuries everything was fine, but then Atalanta noticed something strange her body seemed to become weaker and weaker, and her eyes were loosing color, looking for an answer she searched for a magician and found Medea again. After the initial shock the two women discovered that in spite of all the time passed their friendship was still very strong, so Medea produced a new stronger dosage of the Elixir. Throughout the ages the two have met many times as allies as well as enemies, but their friendship endured - and, for a very brief period, it was also something more.

During her life Atalanta had many friends and lovers, but it was during the Middle Ages that something changed her life, on a battlefield in Norway she met a warrior that was almost her equal, their fight was long and hard but in the end she killed him, only to meet him again two days later. His name was Björn Grímsson and he was a mutant with the ability to heal from any wound and he was immortal. Throughout the next centuries the two battled many times both in private duel or in the middle of crowded battlefields and, in time, a strange thing occurred. With every passing duel, Björn started to appear less interested in the combat and more in his opponent. In 1939 when the world stand on the verge of the most devastating war ever recorded Bjorn declared his eternal love to Atalanta, after a seven centuries long courtship. Shocked and in fear of finding love after so many centuries of loneliness, Atalanta escaped and seeked refuge from another immortal, the inventor Daedalus, until 1956 when Daedalus, with the help of Adrian Eldricth, was able to talk her into returning to the world again. For a decade she was little more than a legend, one of the many underground heroes that operated in Europe during the 50s. In '65 the Interpol contatcted her for the Project Euronet offering her the position of team leader, after an initial refuse they were able to bargain a suitable deal. Atalanta remained with Euronet until the early 80s, sometimes as leader, more often as senior member and drill instructor. She was involved with the so-called second wave of the Feminist Movement, which modelled her into a icon, a position she never enjoyed too much.

Final destiny

At the beginning of the 80s Atalanta simply disappeared from the public eye, apparently no one knew why, her Euronet comrades refused to comment and the Interpol Command seem as lost as anyone else. After that she was spotted a couple of times across the globe (a 5'11' super athletic redhead tend to draw attention), alone or accompanied with a red haired man. Fact is that she was growing a little scared of the modern world and the impending informatic revolution was a little too much for her, in 1982 she met Björn again and the two hastily married. After that the couple moved to the "Lost World" where they currenlty resides as hosts of the Praetor-Governor of Nova Roma.

Mad Max, El Mariachi, and The Man With No Name - Three great movie characters, three great builds! Nice job.

Just wondering though, does The Man With No Name really deserve the Connected feat? It's been a while since I've seen those films, so I may be a little off in this assesment, but I remember him as being more of a lone gunman, more self-reliant.

Well thanks, unfortunatly I'm dedicating myself to other projects so My current streak of builds is relegated to a seondary position [shame on me]

The Connected feat was one of those things that continued to be added and removed from the build for a while, in the end I left it more out boredom. While he is a lone gunman, the Mane with No Name seem to have a knack in finding occasional help (like the innkeeper in "A Fistful of Dollars") so I simulated it through the Connected feat.

Warriors & Warlock, it gives the character Improved range 1 and Progression: Range 1 with all the ranged attck when he/she execute a Aim action.

:arrow: Aric of Dacia (or Aric Dacia according to his social security) was one of the most intriguing, yet weirdest, characters of the VH1 (Both Comicvine and Wikipedia have a good page about him and his crazy story). He is essentialy a barbarian in the vein of Conan placed inside a Iron Man style armor

:arrow: this is Aric after Unity but before losing the first armor, at the time the armor reached her (the armor is living and female) maximum potential fully adapting herself to Aric and his combat style. An earlier X-O should be PL10 and more focused on Melee, a later (armed with the second X-O) should be PL11

:arrow: being a living and morphing enetity the armor can adapt its own systems to the individual pilot, this process takes time and the results are highly unpredictable (e.g. the sword wasn't part of the original design, it wa something the armor manufatured for Aric) so I decided to left it as a simple plot device based upon the need of the moment (essentialy a point redistribution handled by the GM)

:arrow: the above stats doesn't include all the trick used during the serie, these can be easily power stunted from the Weapon system array

:arrow: without the armor Aric is PL 5.5 unarmed, he reach his full PL 7 caps with a sword and a armor/shield

:arrow: the armor is a sentient being with it own personality, this is represented using a Minion AI like per Taliesin's Green Lantern rules. Since the armor has a certain degree of morphic and interface abilities I removed the No Hands drawback. The limited self-initiative represent the fact that aside from protecting her own existance and obey the ringbearer the armor has little to no decisional ability

:arrow: the Remote eye is a small visual node that the armor can create for infiltration

:arrow: Ken Clarkson was originally a Spider Aliens collaborator, with the mission of delivering Aric and the Control Ring to their high command on Earth, he betrayed them for the love of Aric (Ken is openly homosexual) losing his left arm in the process, later he tried to seize the armor for himself. Aric gave him a bionic right arm crafted from the X-O suit, the arm is very powerful but Ken never developed his potertial (without it he is a PL0 bystander), plus, being a part of the X-O, he has a sort of rudimentary instinct of self-preservation and combat and obey to every command of the ring bearer, essentialy if he betray Aric one more time his own arm will kill him

Jus a little bumping, since I've fnished the X-O Manowar build.

:arrow: my first non original build, I tried to stat out one of my favorite Videogame characters, Jen from Primal. This proved more of a challenge than I thought, especially because, while the power to shapeshift is inherent to Jen, this power need to be canalized throught her Vambrace, but apart from this is unclear if the vambraces have any other function. My take is that they enhance the natural regenerative abilities of her "Astral form" (the stats of the device replace her basic ones). In the game Jen body is left behind at the beginning and she exists only as a sort of Astral projection of herself, this projection is able to heal at very high speed but if "killed" she can't came back without some help

:arrow: Arella is the incarnation of Order in oblivion, one of the two ruling entities of the four realms (the other is Abadon, the incarnation of Chaos)

:arrow: I stat the power loss being worth only 1pp since is quite difficult to remove the Vambrace, Jen can't unlock them and the only character capable of removing them was both a scientist and a sorcerer

:arrow: in the game it was pointed out that Jen never learned how to swim, so under normal circumstances she can't use the skill. Obviously the Undine form ignore this restriction

:arrow: after a little retooling I removed the ad hoc Ablative Flaw from the alternate forms and replaced it with the Involuntary Transformation drawback

:arrow: in her normal human form Jen doesn't have any particular ability, except for her quite high Fortitude and Will saves, in combat she is a PL 2.5 knife-fighter (3.5 with Sneak attack)

:arrow: I decided to make Jen's a PL8, because, while she is extremly tough, she is also quite inexperienced in handling her demon forms, she relies more on instinct than training. For the same reason I goes with feats, rather than full bonus to Attack and Defense, a more experienced version of Jen should have the regular bonuses, possibly in her base form

:arrow: anyway she is very cheap, but by removing the Limited flaw from her array she turned out to be a 111pp character at PL 8 and that's perfectly fine for me. My idea was to make Jen coherent with a generic universe, in an Oblivion based game the Flaw has no sense at all

:arrow: the Ferai form is the easiest to handle, it gives Jen an all around physical enhancement. Under normal cirmstances it reaches the defensive PL caps, while raging it reaches the offensive ones. The main scope of this form is exploration so I decided to add some supersenses

:arrow: the Undine form is useless outside water, but in the water is something to be reckoned with, by allocating the 10 levels of Favored enviroment Jen can hit her offensive or defensive caps according to the need of the moment, or both but only at PL 7. The undine form is also mute, but this is a complication at best since she is able to comunicate via telepathy. The sonar was not featured in the game, but it was my guess about how the Undines "see"

:arrow: the Wraith form is an unusual combination a dexterious grappler, by using the whip Jen is capable of executing an extremly vicious chockehold without being flat footed. The time shift is the ability to move outside the normal time flow, I found that the easiest (and most economic) way to simulate it was with Super-speed

:arrow: the Djinn form is Jen power house form, with it she reach all her PL caps, but with some tradeoff toward Damage and Toughness. The split attack feat simulate the nature of the Swords, Jen can manifest a massive two handed sword or two paired short swords

:idea: UPDATE: a little cleaning and revising bringing the build more in line with the general rules of the game. By the way I know that arraying a Permanent power is a little off, but in this case I think it was the only way to represent Jen's powers


Updating some old work, Jen was something I was never 100% satisfied with, this new version works a lot better in my eyes.

Thanks, I borrowed a couple of ideas from your build, especially the decision to left out the whole energy absorbtion routine. X-O was the character that introduced me to the Valiant, so I was determined to make a good work on him. Now on t the last three Valiant builds (Randy Cartier [also with X-O Armor], AX and the Spider aliens).

:arrow: the build represents Randy during her armored period, an earlier Randy will suffer from a Disability (Nearsighted) drawback and lack the attractive feat (the armor gave her both a 20/20 vision and boost in confidence & hotness), a later Randy will simply be unarmored

:arrow: I struggled a little to make Randy costs as much as Aric, I almost did it, the 4 points of difference are all equipment, something Aric's wealth compensate

:arrow: years before Randy was an agent of "Dept. W" a commando unit of Canadian Secrete Service aimed to eliminate a terrorist called Kyle Wolfbridge. He was able to kill Randy's husband and kept her prisoneer for months raping and torturing her, as a result she suffered deep psycological scares that took years to control

:arrow: the (ab)use of the X-O armor caused her suppressed feelings to resurface and she used Shannara to destroy the remains of Wolfbridge's organization only succeding in making her problems worse and deciding never to use the armor again

:arrow: given her previous training Randy is PL6 spy/commando (5.5 if unarmed and unarmored) even without the X-O

:arrow: while she enjoy bossing Ken Clarkson around for a while I decided not to include him as a minion, given her super-short time using the armor

:arrow: Shannara stats are identical to Aric build, the armor stats are different since she has a different fighting style and a different level of skill so the armor adapted itself to compensate

:arrow: AX is the Starscream of the VH1, a smart kid with some power, an insatiable lust for more and zero common sense

:arrow: his basic power is the Harbinger ability to interface with machines and speak with them

:arrow: his wealth rank represents the money he stole from various sources (including the Mafia) using his powers

:arrow: after a mission on the moon along with Pete Stanchez gang he got the control ring of a Commando class X-O armor (a watered down version of the Manowar) and the knowledge of the Spider Aliens technology. This caused him to develop an obsession with the Manowar class X-O armor and planning various plots to get it

:arrow: since the Commando armor isn't sentient I decided to left the Control Ring as a simple note, worth of 0pp. Also the armor abilities are slightly different from a proper Spider Aliens armor, my idea is that her rebuilt and thinkered a little to adapt the armor to his own needs

:arrow: AX is usually accompanied by some minions, these are either simple criminal with bionic limbs (including his so-called girlfriend Roxy) or his personal group of unstable renegade Harbingers (yeah, he kidnapped them from the Harbinger Foundation, something that Toyo Harada wasn't too happy about. Smart kid, don't you think?). I haven't included them since the Harbingers are worth of their own build and the real abilities of the enforcers are quite limited, simply place a bionic arm, a jetpack and an alien blaster on a PL3 criminal
