Thanks it was a typo from the original power template. I fixed it.

I hear you, Kitty was one of the first comic book crushes I had back in the days. Some people I know thinks that's funny because she is one of the few not oversexualized superheroines around (Stargirl, Cyclone, Kitty and Jubilee are the first that came to my mind).

What's funny is the first three there are among my favourite comic book heroines of all time. I mean, my hyper-sexually-agitated pubsescent self certainly appreciated Psylocke and her power thong onesie. But as I got older, it kind of got embarassing, and made me almost ashamed. Regular girls I know stereotype comic books as being a "land of huge breasts", and it makes us all look ridiculous to have stuff like the Power Girl Boob Window while she preaches women's rights and being annoyed by guys looking at them.
So the Power Thongs & Boob Windows bug me- it's not like full suits of spandex are LESS sexy by any margin (Invisible Woman tends to look hotter in her full-suit than the 90s bikini she wore), and girls can be just as endearing in ridiculous baggy clothes (Cyclone), or just nice in standard tights (Stargirl, who isn't a sex symbol, more of a cute kid).
Jabroniville wrote:Nice Rogue build, too- she's unquestionably the worst pain in the ass in the entire Marvel Universe to fit into a PL 10 balanced region. Guys like Thor & Supes you can at least go cheap on the game-breaking AP/DAP structure and AP their Super-Strengt, Flight, Blasts & stuff off each other to save points- Rogue's LINKING most of that crap all together, AND she's a Flying Brick! Taliesin basically called her out completely as being one of those characters that best reflects the new 3rd Edition system of power structures- apparently she's MUCH easier in that form. I know when I tried to build her, I had to make up some Flaws and stuff ("Skin Contact Only") to even have a hope of making her balanced- most are better off not even trying, or else she loses SO MUCH. Hell, I even left out her "Drain" capability, mostly since I forgot about it, but it'd never fit anyways.
Of course, Rogue being "broken" from PC levels makes perfect sense when you think about it- even in the X-Books she's a Game-Breaker. In Claremont's 80s years, she basically ended dozens of fights all by herself, and beat Nimrod by stealing the powers of Colossus AND Nightcrawler combined and kicked the hell out of him! I think realization of that in the 90s led to the "bomber jacket" Rogue being much less powerful, and NEVER using her Power-Stealing tricks (seriously, in five years of collecting in that era I never once saw her use it), instead becoming a low-level Flying Brick. Then it got worse again when Claremont returned, and she suddenly started packing up the SMARTS and SKILLS to add to an already over-powered character.

Horsenhero wrote:Nice Gambit build. You've done him in a way I find appealing, even though, he's an X-Man I never developed a "taste" for.
Nice Jubilee also. Again, never cared for her. Her first appearance, wearing that pseudo-Robin get up did it for me. She was immediately added to my list of "please kill them now" characters. Still, a nice presentation of her design.

Anyway, probably the best bit of dialogue ever written about that sort of thing came in the infamous "5 years later" Legion of Super-Heroes series. Young Andromeda (in her demure little cheerleader outfit) is speaking with older Andromeda (in her tube top, thong and waist jacket. YA- "Aren't you afraid people will stare at you dressed like that?" OA- "That's the point of dressing like this."

Agreed, i can't imagine a woman really wanting to wear something like that unless they were. And granted i haven't picked up a comic book in a long time, but i have visited a hasting store recently. And i see young women actually picking up comics and reading them more and more (which is something i've never seen very much of). So something must be going right that appeals to the young woman.
I remember back in the day, the idea of women wearing costumes like that was "Geektastic!". But now at a more humble age of 40 (soon to be 41), it doesn't appeal anymore. Most of the originals female characters i do, don't follow the standard "heroine" mold either. I think colorful, stylish clothing, makes a 'just as good costume idea' as the spandex does.

And yes, I liked the ugly yellow trenchcoat. I'm obviously sick ;~)

Yeah. I think it is actually a shame that that was allowed to flourish for so long, as it kind-of plays into the negative stereotyping comics get in terms of token fanservice. Not to mention the complete alienation of a potential female demographic. I actually had to convince a female friend of mine that I was reading Power Girl for the good writing and art, and genuine lightheartedness, not the obvious fanservice.
