Master Squick
(PL10 Version) An Inactive Game run by Storm Vermin. I felt that the GM really didn't give this game fair attention, and not surprisingly it died an apathetic death.

Alternate Identity: Malcolm Sinclair (Previously Melvin Secord)
Height: 6'2" (previously 5'8")
Weight: 210
Hair: Black (previously Brown)
Eyes: Blue (Previously Brown)

Description: Old:A stout young man with poor complexion and questionable hygiene. He is remarkable only in the enormous antipathy others feel toward him. When he assumes his supervillain identity, he dons his bulky grey trench-coat, and a pair of massive goggles which cover most of his face. At least people pay attention to him when he's running around as Master Squick!

New: Tall, ruggedly handsome (some would say devilishly handsome), and liberally decorated with lean beefy muscle. His eyes sparkle with intelligence and a lascivious leer. His lips gravitate between a self-satisfied smirk and a contemptuous leer. He still tends to make people feel creepy and uncomfortable, although now for entirely different reasons.

History: Always an outsider with unusual interests, Melvin did well at academics and little else. He had virtually no social life, outside of active correspondence in the Otaku circles. After graduating from University with a Masters in Engineering, he thought that he would find more success in life. He was able to get a well-paying job and finance his interests... but he was still, essentially a loser. Even his mail-order bride made a run for it...

An application he was building at work had some interesting possible uses. He began to develop his idea at home, and eventually came up with Squick Vision. Armed with his new Goggles, he vowed to show them all!
...ironically, he was arrested for having many, many gigs of disturbing pornography on his home computer.

When Mephisto, Prince of Hell offered Melvin and several other wanna-be super criminals some real power, Melvin took the offer immediately. For some people, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Melvin fully intends to pave his own personal road with [censored], [censored] and plenty of [censored].

Before signing on the dotted line, Melvin told the Devil his "three wishes."
"I don't want to be a wimpy loser any more. Give me a strong, handsome body... like a Warrior Demon!"
"I want to perfect my Squick Vision goggles! I want to make people see what I see!"
"...oh yeah. I want a succubus."
...and then, perhaps for the first time ever, a Demon Lord experienced what it meant to be squicked.

Personality & Motivation: Master Squick is awkward and obnoxious... which he can't really help, he's just a social moron. He's extremely frustrated with his lot in life, and looking to improve said lot in all the wrong ways. He envisions his ideal love-life as something out of a Hentai cartoon.

After Dealing with the Devil, Melvin Secord (now with the new, improved name of Malcom Sinclair) has the self confidence to put himself forward... but he almost projects "wrongness." Women who might be attracted to his newly handsome frame instead feel caution because of his unwholesome desires.

Complications:
Geek Out: Melvin is drawn to new or obscure pop-culture, especially of Japanese origin. He can easily be distracted by a mint condition, red-label Albedo comic (or some shit like that).
Disturbing Presence: Malcolm is creepier than an old wooden floor on October 31st. Especially when he is around attractive women. People will tend to remember his overly-intense gaze, and the way he makes their hands feel sticky.
Weirdness Magnet: Bizarre stuff regularly happens to Malcolm. Talking dogs, the Green Goblin wanting to borrow pumpkin pie spice, Time-Space Continuum Auditors knock on his door ...and Arch Demons might offer him awesome power in exchange for his soul.
Wanted! Although Melvin-now-Malcolm looks entirely different, his finger prints are the same. His DNA is still recognizable as his own, although his malevolent modifications have added an anomaly to it. His retinal scan is significantly different because of the colour change to his eyes. The hard-drive full of Hentai that got him arrested in the first place may be a rap he can beat... but he had been active as Master Squick already at that point, and has been indicted for armed robbery and aggravated assault. Some would also argue that what his Squick Vision does should also be considered a sex crime.

Notes
Pet Traits: Magically Summoned Familiar/Parasite
Sabbatha's first loyalties are to herself and Mephisto. Her job is to enforce the hold Mephisto has over Master Squick's soul. Although she has no specific loyalty towards Melvin -er, Malcolm... he is "bent" in a way that makes her job enjoyable, and despite herself she has actually grown to not dislike him. She has all of the stereotypical traits of a succubus -lusty, vain, cruel, and cowardly. In her natural form she has dusky red-purple skin, a long barbed tail, a long forked tongue, hooves and bat wings. Her hair is a magenta colour, making her a blonde among demonesses.

I've got to say, I like the tongue-in-cheek nature of Master Squick. Goes to show what a good background can do to change a character's vibe from menacing to silly/pathetic.

Master Squick has already managed to disturb Mephisto. I have also determined that it will be necessary to apologize to my fellow players early and often for his antics.

Yeah, I ran into the same thing playing Magical Pretty Princess Loli-Chan for the Freedom Panic! game. I'm always walking a tightrope between being outrageous and being offensive and I fear I sometimes fall a bit toward the latter.

So far I've read your characters through Gliz. I am very very impressed. Such original, creative and visual characters. My guess is that you are professionally creative. Just really fantastic stuff.

In reference to Gliz... she was one of my mains on WoW. I quit ages ago, but they keep emailing me "free subscriptions" to entice me back. Around the time I had one of those in my in-box, Wexiomatic proposed a high-fantasy game. It occurred to me to write her up for that campaign... but it just didn't look like it was going to work well, Coreline: Firewall seemed a better fit.

Also, although she probably moves (and to some degree acts) like Hit Girl from Kick-Ass, she predates that movie by years.

I loved that movie (that was pretty much assured since I love the comic). I think it was better than Iron Man 2 even.

Character for Fusion: Blackline. I withdrew from this game... precipitating it's collapse.

Melissa shifted her blistered foot in her stiletto heel. She eyed the slowly approaching minivan with a certain ambivalence, but managed to avoid rolling her eyes. The vehicle stopped, and the passenger window rolled down, almost shyly. Melissa leaned in the window "Are you lost, honey?" She adjusted her tube top slightly, as a clue to what the man had, in fact, found. The man cleared his throat "I was hoping to find some company. Someone easy going, no complications." Melissa decided he looked like a school teacher. "Hi, I'm Cheri, and I'm pretty easy." She opened the door to the van, and shot a glance into the back, once the dome light was on. Not seeing anyone, she decided the rule about johns with vans didn't apply to anything soccer-mom approved. She wiggled her mini-skirt clad ass into the seat and popped her gum impishly. The man put the vehicle into drive, and pulled away from the curb.

Melissa double checked the rear-view to make sure they were alone. Satisfied, she pulled a flavoured condom out of her bra and waggled it suggestively at the man. "Do you like balloon animals?" The man coughed nervously, and cleared his throat again. "Oh, uh... allergic. I have some, uhm, non-latex in the ah, glove compartment." Melissa wasn't thrilled about using a client's protection, but at least he wasn't asking to skip the all important ritual. She found the latch on the glove compartment, and it sprung open with a click... spraying her face with a stream of gas. It smelled like citrus fruit and moldy bread. Her eyes watered, her head spun, and she slumped back in the seat as the world slipped away.

Melissa was something of an expert at waking up in strange places with gaps in her memory, and quickly gained her bearings. She was becoming very alarmed, very quickly. Ok... I'm bare-ass naked. I'm strapped down to a metal table. I'm blind-folded and gagged... oh god. This [maternal philanderer] has watched way too much Dexter. He's gonna cut me to ribbons, and serve my brain on crackers to all his priest-raping, nun-strangling buddies. What would have been an exceptional horror-movie scream was transformed into an impotent hiss of air by the gag in Melissa's mouth. After some time, alternatively screaming and hyperventilating, Melissa faded into unconsciousness.

She awoke again, in time, and re-evaluated her situation. On the plus side, she didn't appear to be dismembered. Both of her arms burned, and she realized there were needles jammed in both of them, dripping chemicals into her blood. Jesus, how long since I scored? Then, she wanted to slap herself silly... fortunately she was still strapped down. The gag in her mouth was more like a metal bar with a thick rubber coating. She could feel grooves that her teeth had worn into the rubber, and her mouth had the bitter aluminum taste of old vomit. Her whole body felt weird... but she couldn't say how, exactly. Boredom led to unconsciousness again.

Her eyes were still covered with something, but Melissa could see things. Things that couldn't be real. Enormous things... like the Earth's heart beating, New York's electrical grid. Her brain was rudely opened to the sum and total of all of the world's energy, and her thoughts shattered into screams.

She woke up on the floor, this time. The feel of ceramic tile under her cheek was not entirely unfamiliar. She could still see... Everything. No... focus! Focus on the floor. Only look at real things! Focus, Mel! The things on her face were gone, and she cautiously opened an eye. She was in some sort of lab. There was a desk by the door, and against the far wall, there was some sort of examination table... but it was turned over on it's side and kind of crumpled looking. She could smell, and make out human waste on the table, and sticking out from under the wrecked table was a man's leg, clothed in corduroy. Presumably her 'school teacher.' The room was lit with fluorescents and she shielded her eyes from the glare and staggered over to the desk. Lots of notes. Formulas, calculations... stuff she didn't understand. There was a notebook on top... she flipped back to the previous day.

"Success! My little alley cat now has the stay-tour 1 of a Greek Goddess" She read aloud. Is he talking about me? "Previously, the subject was 153see-em and 43kay-gee, she now stands 177see-em and weighs 77kay-gee 2. Her body and mus-culla-ter 1 has undergone significant morp-holo-gee 1." God, what did he do to me? She realized that there was still a heavy leather restraint around her right wrist, the chain dangling from it cleanly snapped. She undid the cuff, and tossed it aside. She stopped to look at her hands... her arms. She was quite pale. No hair on her arms. No finger nails. No finger prints. What... the... hell...?

She clutched the notebook to her chest, and turned to leave the lab. The door was locked, but she shattered it with an enraged shove. She found her clothes... but they didn't fit any more. There was an assortment of other clothes- I wonder what happened to the people... girls, that owned these? -and she cobbled together an outfit right out of hobo-chic. She found her few belongings. In her frantic search, she finally stumbled across a mirror and she stopped to stare at her reflection. "Oh... shit. 3" Also, in her search she stopped to stare at a large, walk in freezer. A large... walk in... freezer. Not entirely sure why, Melissa crammed all of the mad scientist's notes into a waste basket and set them on fire. Before leaving the man's house she knocked a phone off the hook and punched 9-1-1. Then, she fled into the night.
Notes...
1. Stature, Musculature & Morphology. Literacy is not always a yes or no proposition...
2. Was 5'1" 95lbs, is now 5'10" and 180lbs, approximately.
3. Change in color from pink to purple is deliberate.

Medusa
Alternate Identity: Melissa Smyth, Cheri, Cheryl Todd
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 180#
Hair: Magenta (currently)
Eyes: White (no apparent iris or pupils)

Description: Medusa is very similar in appearance to the statue of a Greek Goddess. Her body is both powerful and voluptuous but her skin is extremely pale, very nearly white. She has no hair on her body, except for her mane of curly purple hair. She has learned that she can control the colour of her hair, but only at the speed regular hair grows. She also needs to eat something that's the colour that she wants it to be... the "natural" colour of her hair is bleach bone white, and it won't accept dyes. She has no freckles, moles or pores. Her skin is also completely devoid of wrinkles or finger prints, for that matter she has no finger or toe nails either. Her facial features are also somewhat odd... in addition to her luminescent white eyes (lacking eyebrows and eyelashes) her features aren't quite caucasian... but they aren't quite asian or black, either. To avoid attracting attention, she generally wears scruffy clothing. A typical outfit would be a pair of yoga pants, logo T-shirt and a grey hoodie. She always wears sunglasses, to hide her eyes, gloves to hide her odd fingers, and a pair of once-white sneakers.

Personality & Motivation: After escaping from the mad scientist, once Melissa got herself settled she began to realize that she didn't need to eat or drink. She wasn't affected by the weather. When night fell, she realized she didn't need to sleep. She even realized that she didn't breathe, unless she did it consciously. Her almost daily struggle for survival was suddenly gone. If she wanted to, she could probably walk across the bottom of the ocean. What do you do, when you have nothing but time, and you don't need anything?

When she looks in a mirror, she's not sure she likes what she sees. She wasn't exactly thriving before, but at least she was a human being. Now she's... a thing. A statue. She decided to stop using her human name... after all, she wasn't human any more. She was a monster. She picked the name Medusa out of Greek mythology, but she got it kind of backwards.

Whenever she can get away with it, she can now be found in a book shop, nursing a coffee and reading. To start with, she needed to read some books on physics just to understand the basics of what her new eyes tell her. She finds reading a lot easier than she used to... she believes that whatever was done to her made her smarter, as well as stronger. She has also made a six block radius of the St. Veronica's Women's Shelter on 97 and Queens a "no go" area for Dealers, Gang-Bangers and Pimps. The area is one where many working girls operate... and in the past month, they've started to operate on their own terms.

History Medusa's cell was set to vibrate, and she answered it almost immediately. As far as she knew, only the girls on her turf had the number. "Yes?"
"Venus." The voice was male, young although probably adult. As far as Medusa knew, only working girls had her number, but she suddenly felt guilty. She had forgotten about the hustlers who worked the streets, who were frequently in situations as bad or worse than street walkers. Venus was simple code, it identified the caller as someone who had a right to ask for her help. If the caller was being forced to call, or wasn't trustworthy they would have asked for Athena.
"How can I help?"
"The girl I got this number from tells me that you always know when someone's lying. So, this is the truth: I'm with Vice. I called because I wanted to find out how I can help you keep doing what you're doing."
Ray Fletcher was actually in his 30s, but he could pass for 19. His smooth face and shock of red hair made him look like a kid. His beat intersected with Medusa's turf; he normally walked it with a first-aid kit and a backpack full of sandwiches and juice-boxes. He was surprised and pleased at how often, lately that the supplies he carried just weren't needed. He was able to help Medusa set herself up with a mail drop, some ID (under the name Cheryl Todd) and some advice about how to operate outside the law.

. . .

Medusa was letting the warmth of a cup of coffee seep through her gloves into her fingers. She liked the smell and taste of it, and enjoyed the way the infrared heat-signature dispersed in front of her eyes. She was reading a book on the Electromagnetic Spectrum, and watching Detective Fletcher approach her table through the mind of the counter-clerk. "You're getting predictable," he said.
"If you didn't already know me, you wouldn't know where to find me."
Ray settled into the chair across from her. "So, are you going to tell me where you came from?"
"Well, when a Mommy Statue and a Daddy Statue love each other very much..." Medusa made some complicated gestures with her hands. Ray just gave her a flat look. "What did I tell you last time?"
"That you burst from Zeus' forehead, popped like a zit."
"Well, if you won't believe me when I tell you perfectly reasonable stories like that, why should I tell you anything?" Medusa trailed a finger around the edge of her coffee cup for a moment. "Alright. Here's the skinny... one Jane Blow, typical suburban housewife, accidentally used radioactive Mr. Bubbles on her toilet... and here I am, a genuine Porcelain Goddess." Ray snorted, and covered his face with his hands for a moment, and then returned to giving her a dour look.

"Listen... you need to change your modus operendi." He paused a moment, to ensure Medusa knew the term. "What you're doing is working, but it's a short term thing. Sooner or later, you're going to hit some gang-banger hard enough to put him in the hospital, or a witness will go to the press. You're going to be outed, and you should take steps to protect yourself before that happens."
"What are you talking about?"
"Go high profile. Your worried about someone official finding out you exist, and making you disappear. Well, I'm already hearing the whispers. What you need to do is forget low profile... go high profile. So big, they can't grab you without everyone knowing about it... and I also think you should meet some people with similar interests."

Complications: No Legal Status: Melissa can't prove her identity... in fact, she can't even prove she's human. On the plus side, it means she's no longer associated with her criminal record. The cops are also looking for Melissa Smyth, because her finger prints and DNA was found at the home of a serial killer (the scientist that gave her her abilities), and all other victims were accounted for.
Pimp This! If someone uses the phrase "pimping ain't easy" or any variant within ear-shot of Medusa, they're probably in trouble.
A necessary Evil? The problem with kicking all the pimps out of her neighbourhood, is that they did actually protect the girls they controlled. Because Melissa is responsible for running all the pimps out of the neighbourhood, she has come to discover that she is now responsible for protecting it. All of the prostitutes, and even some of the shopkeeps in her area have her cell phone number, and will call her when they have trouble of a sort she can solve.
No money, no problems. Melissa has no income of any description. She will accept the occasional offer of shelter, shower, or pocket-change from the girls she helps out.
It's not paranoia, if they are out to get you. Through her contacts, Medusa knows that the police are searching for her old identity of Melissa Smith. She doesn't know why. What she does know, is that she suddenly has some amazing, superhuman abilities... and the notes of the mad scientist that gave them to her. She is extremely paranoid about coming into contact with any government agency, but especially law enforcement types.

Build Redacted
This character was originally PL7, was increased to PL8 for the Fusion-verse submission, then increased to PL10 for use in the Blackline Campaign. Changes to the build were also made to accommodate specific niches in those games. Once all the build edits had been put in, I determined that I no longer liked the build at all. Here, for posterity is the PL10 build... but if this character ever goes into a game, it will probably be a lower PL, and undoubtedly a different build.

Minor thing, but I think the word you want is "dyes"

Immunity (Aging, Heat, Cold, Radiation, Poison, Disease, Sleep, Starvation & Thirst) [8]

Where's immunity to suffocation? She basically has Life Support plus immunity to Aging as far as I can tell, which would put her up to 10 pts.

Overall, an interesting character. One minor sidenote, Kenson's said that Telekinesis and Gravity Control should be capped, at least for when they're used as opposing checks against someone.

I've actually addressed both of those issues in the recruitment thread... not sure where I'm going to scrounge the points for the Immunity (Suffocation), and I'm not sure how the Gravity/Telekinesis is going to work either.

...and yes. Dyes. :P

I like this character, and i noticed she doesn't have any fingerprints. Sounds like a 1 pt Feature to me :)

Given the characters non-human appearance, any situation which might get her finger printed by police would also result in her immediate arrest. Also, not leaving finger prints can be simulated by the wearing of gloves... which she does anyways, and gloves have a negligible EQ cost.

And besides, how many write-ups of The Thing and so on have you seen that pay points to have their fingerprints ignored?
Just a dog? Porthos dreams of being a bear, and you want to shatter those dreams by saying he's just a dog? What a horrible candle-snuffing word...Just
