Backstory
Athena, with her brother Ares, is a genetically engineered being created by the science of Doctor Impossible. Their exact ages are unknown. Like her sibling, Athena is super-strong and able to emit fields of zero-point energy. They also share a psychic link. The extent of their abilities is unknown; for example Athena can fly, but Ares cannot. Both were schooled in the arts of war their entire lives. Athena is a master of strategy.

Personality
While Athena admits to being the younger of the two, she is the more mature one. Athena is brilliant and wise beyond her years. Her temperament is always soothing; many find her words to be as disarming as her beauty.

Powers and Abilities
Genetic Engineering has pushed Athena beyond human limits for strength and endurance. Athena has the ability to fly and project intense force screens. When in contact with her brother, Athena is able to project zero point energy fields.

Allies
Athena is closest to her brother Ares and her "father" Doctor Impossible. She is considers close in council to Captain Zero.

Enemies
Athena suffers from many of the same Rogues that the rest of her team mates do. In particular, the psychic serial killer Bedlam has taken a liking to Athena.

next up some marvel builds. i'm not going to tear through the entire marvel universe. I don't really want to right now. I'm actually going to follow up on the discussion in the (un)official marvel build thread and post 14 iconic marvel heroes and 14 iconic marvel villains. Look for that in the near future. I've been hanging back and learning the system. Original builds and playtests have been my thing. Now it's time to really use these rules to make some cool builds. :D

So much like DCA did, I'm going to start my marvel builds with 14 iconic heroes and 14 iconic villains. First up... the good guys. Tried to get in a good mixture of Avengers, X-Men, FF, and solo characters that felt like DCA's very wise choice to go with tried, true, and classic versions. As my work progresses (I'm three builds in currently) I'll fill you all in on power level. The list itself though will go something like this...

Real Name: Peter Benjamin Parker
Occupation: Former Freelance Photographer, High School Teacher
Base: New York, New York

Raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May, science prodigy Peter Parker grew up shy and bookish. He had trouble making friends and was something of a social outsider in his school. When he was fifteen years old, Peter went on a school field trip, during which an irradiated spider bit him. The radioactive venom somehow caused a series of mutations that gave the boy superhuman abilities. Attempting to earn money to help his financially struggling family, Parker donned a costume and tried his hand as a small-time television celebrity.

Thinking himself too important because of his newfound fame, Peter ignored the chance to stop a thief escaping the studio one day, only to return home later to find that a burglar had murdered Uncle Ben. Hunting the burglar down, Parker discovered the killer was the man he had chosen to ignore earlier. Consumed by guilt, and having his future celebrity career curtailed by a set of critical editorials published by J. Jonah Jameson’s Daily Bugle, Peter began a checkered career as the costumed vigilante Spider-Man.

He eventually put Jameson’s animosity to good use by making a living as a news photographer selling to the Bugle and specializing in photos of his alter ego. Peter eventually graduated college and developed a strong relationship with girlfriend Mary Jane Watson, a romance that evolved into a happy, if problematic, marriage.

Leaving his work with Jameson behind him, Parker used his science credentials to become a teacher, while continuing to fight the good fight as Spider-Man, no matter the personal cost.

Personality
Peter Parker is a courageous and good-hearted man driven by crushing guilt and an unshakeable moral core. The death of Uncle Ben taught him that with great power comes great responsibility. He is the everyman—mortal, fallible, and often subject to the cruel whims of fortune—who nevertheless gives his all to fight and bleed for his conscience. Spider-Man hides his fears and uncertainty in battle under an incessant torrent of wisecracks and taunts.

Powers & Abilities
Spider-Man possesses superhuman strength, agility, and reflexes, as well as a sixth sense attuned to danger. An attraction field based around his palms and the soles of his feet enables him to cling to most surfaces and even climb them.

Despite having extraordinary powers, Peter frequently has to rely on his exceptional scientific acumen. Among other applications, Parker has used his innate genius to fashion a pair of “web-shooters” that spray a short-duration chemical adhesive of his own devising. He has learned to use this so-called “webbing” to form swing lines or nets, and even to spin together solid structures, such as small barriers or parachutes.

Spider-Man notably lacks the wealth of material resources many other heroes have, though he does have the respect of a number of those he’s worked alongside. Parker has a small circle of contacts through the Daily Bugle (such as reporter Phil Urich), as well as the emotional support of his wife Mary Jane and his Aunt May. Other than his powers and intellect, though, Parker normally has little else to rely on besides pure gumption and blind luck.

Devil Dentist's career began as a torture expert for the KGB known for his particular sadistic side in interrogations and his specialty in working on the teeth. When communism collapsed he moved to the united states and began a career as a practicing dentist after changing his name and perfecting an american accent. after years of trying to control himself, he's returned to his old ways and gone criminally insane.

Really liking the builds so far!
I've yet to get the book but I feel like I'm getting a leg up on understanding the changes.

Oddly though I've never really followed his comic it's Punisher I think I'm most looking forward to seeing.

Really liking the builds so far!

it's Punisher I think I'm most looking forward to seeing.


first off, thanks. I've been too busy to really concentrate on the thread so I'm sorry if I've been falling behind the rest of the board as we all go 3rd ed crazy. I'm moving, running a game on thursdays, working, and about to go back to school.

But yeah. Punisher. I'll work on him next. The Dentist is a fun baddie I've been using in the game and I wanted to convert him to 3rd ed ASAP. I also plan on some more non MARVEL comic builds. Stay tuned. I'm going to make the Ninja Turtles soon.

Woot! Can never go wrong with TMNT builds!

Punisher would definitely be a cool build.I could definitely see him going up against the Devil Dentist :D.
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

Ah, who am I kidding. No way I'm going to get to the TMNT in 3E as soon as I would like. I'll be lucky to get the two 3E builds I've been working on up this weekend as I'd hoped. Ah, real life, how you mock me... :wink:

I love that evil dentist. Loved him in 2E, love him in 3E. Although I did notice that on a couple of your conversions, you said Enhanced Feats instead of Enhanced Advantages. For shame... :D

I'm surprised Wolverines Fighting isn't higher, at least with his claws. But then again a +13 is pretty much top of the line anyways.
