Hi. Liking what little I understand of the builds so far.

I notice that there are no size changers among your planned builds. I always had a soft spot for them in the comics but found them somewhat confusing in 2e. Would there be any Possibility of an Ant-Man or Goliath at some point?

Maybe after the TMNT?

Thanks

maybe although my plan is to treat each team in MARVEL as a project, so if i were to do both wasp and giant man i'd prefer to get all the Avengers done. i'm saying maybe now... it might happen. 8)

TMNT soon though. for sure.

Looking forward to the Turtles though for sure, curious to see if we get comic/cartoon or some blend of elements.

Pardon my ignorance - but what is the Senses 2 of your Hulk build? I assume that these are two senses built into a Multiple Effects container?
Cyclops: "Open your mouth again and my glasses come off."
Iceman: "Okay, that is officially the lamest threat I have ever-"

okay, well the cat is out of the proverbial bag. the TMNT will follow my iconic MARVEL builds. Before that, however, I have to still get through a few more heroes and all my villains. They'll be similar to the DCA baddies with many of the arch nemeses matching up near the PL of their respective heroes. Often they'll be just under the mark.

I'll throw in the occasional original build too.

DAREDEVIL GETS A TEST

Postby BARON » Tue Aug 10, 2010 1:57 pm

Crime lord (267):
Daredevil (init 19): -1 toughness
Hostage (bystander, 266): bound (rope)
Thugs (268; init7): 1,2,3,4,5,6 (all out),7 (-3 tough)

Situation is this: I have a wet erase grid set up. Drawn a 50 foot tall warehouse (interior has plenty of cover/obstacles) with 7 thugs, a crime lord, and a bystander hostage. Two of the thugs are outside. Four are on the warehouse floor and one thug is in the office with his boss and the hostage. DD waits outside on a 70 foot tall building that is itself 30 feet away from the warehouse. DD looks down upon the scene. Even at that distance, his accurate hearing is only a range increment penalty away (and with his skill mastery in perception, that’s a DC29 check. Suh-weet). His stealth is also good for a DC 18 and with hide in plain sight he can slip between cover going from rooftop to just around the corner (which will let him use partial cover and 40 feet of distance for a +6 bonus. Effectively a DC24) and he’s got the swingline on the club so don’t worry about the fall. He’s got the drop on the crime boss’ boys. I’m still using the damage houserule (and loving it) so if you don’t like what I’ve done to 3rd ed rules… turn back now. Daredevil charges in with club fully extended as a surprise round.

Surprise Round: DD charges in (and increases his speed by +1 with a DC15 athletics check so he actually charges 60 feet). Both thugs are right next to the front door. The far one from Matt is ten feet away from his buddy. DD charges and attacks (DC23 against minions; DD wins by two degrees. DC20 and the poor guy fails by 3 degrees. He’s out). Initiative rolls out.

Round1: DD power attacks by 5, moves 5 feet, takes a routine check, and wins by a degree (DC25 knocks him out) then DD completes his movement with his swingline (it’s a climb check DC15 to climb a rope braced against a wall and not lose your defenses). So he’s now 25 feet up the wall just above the door (and able to use stealth for a DC28 with +2 from distance). The thugs mobilize. Two of them go plowing out of the front door (they’re not flat footed, but without a successful perception check, they won’t have anything to shoot at). The crime boss orders his man to watch the office door while he keeps the gun on the hostage.

Round2: DD leaps down out of the shadows and goes accurate +5/-5… He succeeds by 3 degrees. DC15 takes one out and DD takedowns into the second guy. Another DC15 3 degrees up ends horribly as the other thug eats it. Let’s see if that 25 foot fall hurt DD (4 damage ranks? DD’s acrobatics lower it to 0. DC15 doesn’t end too well. Next time DD is in that situation I’ll let him swingline down and attack unarmed. He takes a wound). The two thugs inside open fire (the swinging doors will afford partial cover. One aids the other. Miss!)

Round3: DD moves into melee with the nearest thug and attacks (routine attack is a 2 degree success even with his partial cover; DC20 still knocks him out). He completes a move by action with hide in plain sight and disappears from the last thug behind crates (since they’re 5 feet tall, he has to go prone). The last thug moves to get a line of fire and takes his shot against a prone DD (-5 to hit; DD rolls out of the way)

Round4: DD instant ups and attacks (two degree success and a DC20 sends the thug packing). He got his man from ten feet away with his club’s extended reach so DD still has a move action. He hides again (another +1 speed with a little athletics will get him a good spot). The crime lord has his hostage still and the last thug. The thug comes out and what the hell? Let’s not make him a minion. He starts looking for DD (28DC) while the crime boss moves toward the door at half speed with his hostage.

Round5: DD moves behind his cover (+1 speed with athletics) hurls his club for a ranged disarm (spending a HP to improve; -5 penalty. 24 check wins by 2 degrees. +5 vs 0. DD wins and the crime boss is disarmed. The club ricochets back into his hand). The thug charges (miss). The Crime Boss uses well informed to find out general information on DD. He’ll make a break for it. I would have let him know about DD’s blindness or weakness if he had gotten higher. Oh well.

Round6: DD goes after the thug to make sure the hostage is okay (DD all out attacks the bastard. DC21 wins by one degree. DC20 fails by another. The thug is dazed and -1 toughness). The thug draws his pistol as a move.

Round7: DD power attacks for 5 (22 check wins by two degrees; DC25 adds another degree of failure. He’s now staggered). DD just clobbered him. He’ll spend the round recovering (+2 active defenses).

Round8: time for DD to hit him with some intimidation. DC33 succeeds by 14; 2 degrees will impair him. Pretty tough thug. He’ll all out attack and actually hit (normal success DC17; DD saves and is none too happy)

Round9: DD power attacks for 5 and gets a +1 degree success (DC25 will daze the poor guy). “Screw this.” He says as he tosses his gun and runs for it. DD stays with the hostage. He doesn't even need to follow them. He knows their scent (with heroic checks). He'll have the trail and finish the job with testimony from the hostage by morning.

Fun test. DD basically rolled over everyone and looked very sharp. I especially think he's a cool martial artist. Makes me want to run nightwing. Although technically what i think i should do to reflect his disability is actually require him to make a perception check at the top of every round to get an accurate picture of his surroundings using whatever might be available to him. Usually auditory.

Ah now there's my favorite paragon, the MIGHTY THOR! Nice build BARON, he matches up really well with both Superman and Wonder Woman 8).
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

What is Thor's damage if he throws the hammer? I don't see where Ranged was paid for on STR damage - most I can see is a spare 2 pp on the array.

If I am reading this correctly, the Hammer Throw is Strength Based Ranged Damage as an AE off the Hammer Strike. It cost 1 pt, the Hammer Strike is 6 pt and the and the Flight is a AE off the strike as well for 1 pt, adding up to the 8 pt array.

Since it is Strength Based Ranged Damage, the damage would be 17.
