Great to see the cosmic builds. I was wondering, will we be seeing Ego or the Recorder while you're on this subject?

Total: Abilities: 86 / Skills: 46--23 / Advantages: 8 / Powers: 189 / Defenses: 14 (320)

-Xemnu is one of the classic Lee/Kirby Monsters from back in the day when ALL of Marvel's books were "Big Monster" books (the late days of the 1950s and the early '60s), brought back out of the mothballs to be a Hulk/Defenders villain. He's actually shown up a few times as a classic "goofy" villain with his big white-furred body, though he's rather potent- apparently once having taken over the minds OF THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE. He was last seen in various silly books, though he was controlled by The Phalanx in "Annihilation: Conquest", and once tried to turn She-Hulk into a "She-Xemnu". And no, he's not related to the Great Satan of $cientologist Mythology.

-Xemnu has a REALLY Wide-Area Mind Control Power (23 ranks is enough to cover the 7,900 entirety of the Earth because the Burst covers 8,000 miles on each side of Xemnu), though I don't think he ever used that power after his first appearance- most of the time he's a simple high-powered Telepath, capable of messing with guys like Doctor Strange (no mean feat- he fights GODS), Animate Objects, Fly around in space, and other weird things. He's an odd build, especially since he packs some of that stuff onto a POWERHOUSE physique as well as being a high-level Scientific Genius. Though expensive and high-powered, he does suffer a bit defensively, being only PL 10 with Dodge & Parry (many Earth heroes can simply overpower him if they break free from his mental control), and the PLs of his various attacks tend to vary.

Total: Abilities: 90 / Skills: 92--46 / Advantages: 15 / Powers: 346 / Defenses: 16 (505)

-Mistress Love and Master Hate are the physical, cosmic embodiments of their patron Emotions. Its a pretty cool idea overall, and fills out the "outer" Cosmic Beings with characters that have a concrete purpose beyond just being vague or super-powerful. Mistress Love appeared a decade earlier, showing up to meet The Enchantress, among others, and possibly bestow her favours upon lesser beings (ie. anyone below PL 20). Master Hate first showed up in "The Infinity Gauntlet", looking sorta like a homely woman, but later shifted to more masculine forms.

-They have Energy Blasts for whatever reason, but are ultimately rather unkillable (you can't just stamp out all Love in the Universe- even with all the Emo music in the world, Love will persist), comprised of sentient emotion (and thus Immune to Fortitude Effects), you can't even really HIT them (Insubstantial), and they can alter your emotions basically at-will (I went with 4,000 feet as a basic Burst, but it could concievably be Planet-wide if necessary). PL 20 super-beings that are nonetheless not much of a match for other Cosmic Beings by virtue of their limited focus (most high-end Cosmics are Half-Immune to Mental Powers) and relatively-low-tier damage.

Have to admit I'm not familiar with the Kree Recorders, I'll look them up to check. The Recorder is a Rigellian unit though, so there are likely to be differences. If nothing else he'd be different when he became the analyser.

Right, off to wiki to check.

Edit- Every reference I can find is to The Recorder of Thor fame doing things to the Kree in Force works. Maybe my Google-fu is weak?

Dodge +0 (+10 Deflection Field, DC 20), Parry +0 (+10 Field, DC 20), Toughness +30 (+16 Impervious), Fortitude +26, Will +14

Complications:
Weakness (The Hunger of Ego)- Much like Galactus, Ego must consume large sources of energy to sustain his massive existence. He has devoured starships, alien races, and entire worlds.
Enemy (Galactus)- Ego and Galactus have feuded in the past- Galactus sought to consume Ego for his own sustenance, and once placed a star-drive engine on Ego to force him to constantly fly through the cosmos (so that he would not threaten other beings).
Involuntary Transformation (Brain)- Though massively strong, Ego's "skin" is really only as durable as hard earth up-close- beings on his surface can blast through and find access to Ego's brain, which is a mere Toughness 20 and much more vulnerable to attack.
Responsibility (Going Insane)- At various times, Ego has gone insane due to cosmic stuff, The Supreme Intelligence, mechanical parts in his brain, stuff like that.
Relationship (Alter-Ego)- Ego was created, alongside his brother Alter-Ego, by The Stranger, who arranged Alter-Ego's kidnapping by The Collector, then a battle between the two Living Planets- all of this in order to determine if imprisonment can increase someone's fighting potential.
Responsibility (Egotistical & Violent)- As his name suggests, Ego has a massive superiority complex. If thwarted, he can be provoked into a tremendous emotional outburst.

Total: Abilities: 42 / Skills: 42--21 / Advantages: 30 / Powers: 556 / Defenses: 42 (694)

-You know what's freaking great about comics? Ego. A living freaking PLANET. Sure, there have been others in sci-fi stories or whatever (Jack Kirby admits this), but how many of them also have GOATEES? So this giant, goateed, planet-eating menace travels throughout the cosmos, messing up heroes, being the base for the entire Nova Corps., turning pro- and antagonist at seeming random, and exists as one of those weird iconic things in the comics. Ego debuted fighting Thor, and then fought Galactus, went insane (thus eating a race that got an initial "happy ending" by being allowed to settle on his surface- The Wanderers, the first race orphaned from their world by Galactus), went sane, then went insane again, had a rocket attached to his butt that sent him hurtling through the universe, etc. He's one of those guys that will just end up being used no matter what, ignoring the old "status quo" set for him.

-Ego is really high-powered, but not invincible. He's also one of those guys that tests a game system like no others. Gazman went with an "Insubstantial Intelligence that controls his homeworld", but I went with the standard "crap-tons of ranks of Growth making a super-tough guy" set-up. And it's pretty funny how the dude needs SO MANY ranks of Growth (he's apparently 4 times the size of Pluto, and his diameter was given as 4165 miles). He also has a ton of other "planetary" features, creating Environments on a massive scale, tripping guys up, setting off Earthquakes, heating his insides, etc.

-There's a weird thing with a guy this big- at this scale, people can just land on him and walk around. Attacking him at that range is essentially an automatic hit (it's why he has Dodge & Parry only with Ranged Damage), and you can much more easily burrow into him and attack his brain that you could just blast away and hope to damage a Toughness THIRTY guy. Overall, he's powerful enough to challenge Galactus or an Elder God and possibly win- PL 19 can take out most guys in the COSMIC scale, not to mention the Heroic one.

-Some other things: Ego has an Atmosphere of sorts, which costs a ludicrous amount for something that effectively hurts him (allowing people to breathe while on him), but hey- I wasn't concerned about cost and I thought it would be funny to add it. He creates tentacle limbs, Antibody Minions, and alter his form (this can effectively make his titanic 4165-mile-wide frame look more mountainous, fluid, cross-hatched, or goateed- whatever your heart desires). He can also see all around him (it's how he "sees" people walking on the side without the face, which is really just something he can form on the surface anyways), and really far across space. Also, good luck overcoming his Fortitude Save (note: he is still alive and organic, hence he still has Fortitude). He's also got a noticeably low Will Save for a Cosmic Being, but still higher than most Heroes.

that said, Ego's best appearance was in Marvel Adventures: avengers 12

for best effect, read the following lines aloud in your best "space god" voice

"I was just cruisin' through your little star system and i said to myself: 'WHO is that fine blue number three over there sportin the ice caps?'

"I know I got a rep as a galactic playah, but I'm the real thing. EGO is all about the commitment. yeah, you heard that right."

I had to make those changes on my Heralds, too. I felt the duh as well. I kinda think the Lanterns should have at least a rank or two as well. They function similarly most of the time.

Defenses:
Dodge +8 (DC 18), Parry +10 (DC 20), Toughness +24 (+13 Impervious), Fortitude +22, Will +17

Complications:
Weakness (Needs Containers of Energy)- Tyrant, like Galactus, has need of a great deal of energy. He often drains superhumans for this purpose, and if access to his containers is cut off, he slowly weakens.
Enemy (Galactus)- Tyrant was created by Galactus millennia ago, but turned out to be pretty evil, so Galactus fought and de-powered him. Tyrant now wants revenge.
Drawbacks (Losing Energy)- Galactus typically does not expend full energy, in order to better conserve his strength. It is uncommon for him to use full force on his Energy Blasts, and he especially almost never uses his Devour Worlds ability by himself- he generally uses his ship for such endeavors, as expending energy to harvest energy kind of defeats the purpose.

Total: Abilities: 126 / Skills: 66--33 / Advantages: 58 / Powers: 268 / Defenses: 30 (515)

-Tyrant is just a culmination of years of over-use of the exact same concepts in the Silver Surfer's cosmic world. He ended up with a whole SCORE of Heralds and other creations of Galactus to deal with, until he ended up having to fight ANOTHER uber-cosmic guy, an ancient creation of Galactus with GRAND COSMIC POWER. Way too over-wrought, powerful and dull- Ron Lim had long since run out of cool designs. Marvel's Cosmic Scene pretty much died with this one loser character in my opinion, as 1993 was pretty much around the times when comics started to falter. You can't blame the entire comics industry's failure on this one guy, but it sure is fun to try :). He had a lot of stuff dealing with Morg, the then-hot Herald character, but both characters were killed when Morg mis-used The Ultimate Nullifier and blew up the two of them, along with Galactus' World-Ship.

-Tyrant was powerful enough to take out Silver Surfer, Morg, Beta-Ray Bill, Jack of Hearts and others simultaneously with relative ease, and with lower power was able to nearly beat Thanos, so the guy is a super-cosmic heavy-hitter. At PL 18, he'd take out any hero one-on-one, and would still provide a horrible challenge for Galactus.

Total: Abilities: 76 / Skills: 62--31 / Advantages: 29/ Powers: 0 / Defenses: 12 (148)

-Midnight Sun grew up as the adopted son of Fu Manchu, raised alongside Shang-Chi- the son of an African family slain when Fu Manchu fought a recurring nemesis, M'Nai grew up a loyal son, and fought Shang-Chi. It was only for a single fight, however, and he died when he was kung-fu kicked off of a building. Brought back as part of the Legion of Unliving, he jobbed to Mantis (because EVERYONE DID), and that would've been it for this rarely-used guy... until someone had the BIZARRE idea to use the guy as a SILVER SURFER FOE, upgrading his power dramatically via the Kree so they'd have someone who could beat The Surfer in a fight. Why they chose some random Earth martial artist is beyond me, but the Kree are a bit weird that way.

-At first, Midnight Sun was merely a single-issue foe for Shang-Chi, so he's about equal to what Shang was back in the day- a PL 9 over-pointed elite Martial Artist Guy.

I wasn't familiar with Tyrant before now, so my interest in the Cosmic scene pretty much died the first time I saw Morg, & didn't return until Giffen's Drax mini (which gave me my love of Paibok).

Jabroniville wrote:MIDNIGHT SUN (M'Nai)- Space Martial Artist

Always great to see Midnight Sun! One small point, I'm sure I remember space Midnight Sun having some kind of invisibility to most visual senses. I recall Surfer having to use some kind of space vision & even then he could only see the flying discs, so he just aimed in the middle of them.

I could be wrong though.

Now all I need is Stellaris & Nobilus & my life is complete (shameless Black Galaxy fanboy).
