I like the Godzilla from Final Wars for his power level and look most of all the movies, but Godzilla vs. Biollante is still my favorite movie. It has a little bit of history for me because I had seen all the movies, and then came along Godzilla 1985 (as they called it here). It was the start of a newer, more serious continuity and I really loved it. Very dramatic. I thought that was it. Then one day, on the playground at school, I'm talking to my friend Jordan and he says there's one after it, the aforementioned Biollante movie. I didn't believe him as he told me about it, but then we found it, and watched it, and it was the most awesome thing ever.

Watching Godzilla come out of the volcano was enough to give me goosebumps. And again, when he faces Biollante's unbelievably monstrous and titanic second form... and he just roars in defiance, no fear, no hesitation. Just pure, savage rage and "Only one thing is certain when Godzilla is around: no one is safe when the monster's awesome power is unleashed."

Also, if you're going to try to eat Godzilla, head first is a bad idea. Orga learned the hard way, too.

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, the Heisei one, was great because it had Rodan and because it further reinforced what I loved most about the Heisei series: Godzilla was a force of nature, immortal, a living message from Mother Nature to mankind. He can't die because even if something could kill him, another "Godzilla" (it may be a different kind of monster, likely worse, but another walking disaster like him) will rise and be even worse. He's a check to our hubris and a testament to the power of Mother Nature. Something always happens and Godzilla always prevails, lives on no matter what we do.

I like that Godzilla. I prefer it when he's not a bad guy, at worst a force of nature without morals, though more "good" than "evil" if it comes down to it, such as in Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla.

Terror of Mechagodzilla, the one you mention, was great, one of my favorites of the Showa series. Partially because Godzilla had help taking down Mechagodzilla previously, but now Mechagodzilla has help and the King has none! He has to fight two monsters, and they just show him wading through this incredible barrage of firepower by Mechagodzilla, slugging it out with Titanosaurus... just great stuff.

Destroy All Monsters was another epic.

I like the Millennium stuff okay, but in a lot of it, Godzilla is more of a "bad guy" than anything, and I don't like that as much. Plus, the standalone continuities are not as much fun to me as the greater Heisei continuity, which was my favorite. I like how Final Wars sorta encompasses everything and creates something new at the same time.

Fun fact for Godzilla lovers.

That iconic roar was a difficult thing for the creators of Godzilla to come up with. They tried lions, and bears, and tigers (oh my) and other sounds like engines and the like and came up with nothing.

Then one day a sound editor was outside with a recording device and heard an odd sound. the sound as it turned out was a gate on the studio grounds that hadnt had its hinges oiled in years. after ioening and closing it a few times he recorded the sound and presented it to the creators who promptly flipped out and thus ""The Roar"" was born.
Dr. Silverback has wryly observed that this is like trying to teach lolcats about Shakespeare

Jab, did you buy down Godzilla's Strength and Stamina after the Growth was factored in? I notice your Heisei Godzilla has Growth 23, but Strength 22 and Stamina 18.

Jabroniville wrote:-Godzilla in the Showa era is PL 15 all-around, from his Breath to his physical attacks (he's relatively accurate for a large, slow beast, thanks to his huge body parts). This means he's more than enough for an entire squad of Avengers, and could KO almost anyone in one shot. He could save against damage from Thor's +18 Mjolnir strike with an 11 or higher, which is NUTS. Most Kaiju are a notch weaker than he is, but a few are even mightier.

Of course, the EMH Avengers have access to the perfect "Godzilla Threshold" solution to... well, Godzilla: Get Ant-Man to giant-size the Hulk...

And then lost it for me when he kicked Banner. Somehow I can't imagine 616 Steve being that petty...

Granted your list is pretty long and thus by definition includes a ton of characters, IK, let me just say I'm glad to see Lois Lane on it. Over the past few years, I've come to look on her as one of the most under appreciated creations of the genre. If I end up doing one of these lists, I'll explain why there.

Yeah, more or less. Growth is tricky in this edition, and goes WAY higher than should be reasonable at high enough levels. The Growth rating is more reflective of his ending height than of his overall power- I just shrunk the points cost down accordingly. If you shrank Godzilla down to human size, he'd be weaker than a Spider Monkey, which is odd, but I'd house-rule it out if need be. It's just a quirk of the new system (don't even get me started on how difficult heroes who START at human size and then grow get- Hank Pym would normally end up with strength surpassing ANYONE'S Thor or Superman builds if you built him to Growth 20).

Interesting Top Ten lists from everybody. I notice they're lacking enough CYCLONE, however, and thus mine is best :P.

Disabled (Animal)- Rodan cannot speak, nor use his claws to easily manipulate objects.

Total: Abilities: 2 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 9 / Powers: 166 / Defenses: 31 (216)

-Rodan's a consummate Godzilla ally, though they really aren't friends- they just team up when other giant monsters show up. He debuted in his own movie, a rather different type of Kaiju movie- it starts out as a horror movie with giant bugs eating stuff, and then TWO Rodans show up to blow the city apart. It's kind of heart-wrenching in the end, as one Rodan is killed by a volcanic eruption (brought on by human activity), and the other willingly commits suicide to be with it's mate. Another one soon showed up, when the movie's success resulted in Rodan being added to the core cast of a new series of Kaiju films. It was Godzilla, Rodan & Mothra, ganging up against far bigger threats (like King Freaking Ghidorah)- he wasn't as popular as Godzilla, and not as lionized by the Japanese crew as Mothra the Amazing, so he was a bit of a third-stringer. Plus, his costume tends to look a little weaker than the others- skinny in places, with wings thad don't move very well. Still, being a giant pteranodon's gotta be good for something.

-Rodan's PL 15 on offense, PL 14 on defense, being fast and more accurate than Godzilla, but a bit weaker. He's lower in Toughness, but he's highly resistant to Energy Damage (he OFTEN shrugs off Godzilla's Atomic Breath, to a far greater extent than others). He's pricier than Godzilla though- packing resistance, Mach 2 Flight, a Flying Smash (doing more damage, but being less accurate), a Wind Storm that can send dozens of tanks flying at once, and a Sonic Boom. See, Rodan can do a "fly-by", and the resulting Mach 3 eruption will wipe out HUGE swaths of area, sending glass and concrete flying everywhere. It's one of the widest-range Burst attacks I can think of.

Disabled (Animal)- Rodan cannot speak, nor use his claws to easily manipulate objects.

Total: Abilities: -6 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 14 / Powers: 183 / Defenses: 34 (233)

-Rodan showed up again in the '90s after a big break, and started right out being angry at Godzilla, but lost. He mutated into a final form when Baby Godzilla summoned him, and he sacrificed his life (after getting his ass kicked by Mechagodzilla) to re-power Godzilla against his enemy. He's PL 16 like Godzilla, and is proportionately about the same as regular Rodan, but also eventually packs his own Breath Weapon, becoming even MORE dangerous.

-Manda's more of a hanger-on in the entire Godzillaverse, and never really appeared too much. He was a one-shot in a movie called "Atragon", where he threatened the main characters' submarine for a bit before it was frozen with an ice beam, then appeared in "Destroy All Monsters" along with the rest of the Toho crew. Despite that, he never actually DID anything in the big fight against Ghidorah, for reasons I can't quite figure out (difficulty "blocking" a scene with seven giant rubber-suited costumes plus a giant snake-puppet?). His next appearance was decades later in "Final Wars", again threatening a submarine, where Don Frye's crew froze him in ice and then FLEW THROUGH HIM. That's right- this monster is such a weenie that he got killed by HUMANS. For SHAME, Manda, for SHAME. Silly snake kaiju thingie.

-Manda is PL 14, and a fair bit weaker than the Godzilla crew in most ways (he's PL 13.5 defensively). He does less damage (even on his Area Attacks, of which he has a Line and a Burst because of his unique shape), has no Breath Weapons, and doesn't have a whole lot to him, but he is the best grappler around, and can Slither, so that's something.

Lois Lane Rocks! I wish she could be higher on my list, only there are just so many characters out there that I've really enjoyed over the years! Also, I re-ordered my list a little, in case anyone was interested. Lois Lane now breaks in at #69.

Growth - check out Taliesin's house rules.

Top Ten List - Ooops, guess I went a little overboard there.

Cyclone - it's not that I dislike her. I'm just not that familiar with her.

Godzilla - Awesome!

Yay for Godzilla builds! I don't know why but Rodan was always a favorite of mine, he was even the one I fought with in the Godzilla fighting game for Gamecube :D.
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

I love these Godzilla builds. Always fun to have big monsters to throw at your players. Question on Manda is it's elongation based on it's growth as well. So it can reach as far as 4 miles? I know the power says to add the effect rank to your size rank. His size is rank 4 plus 6 ranks of elongation. I could be reading the power wrong. Keep up the good work.

Wow, actually for his Elongation I was just looking for a round number and figured "that sounds about right", but it looks like his natural reach is almost enough, and he only needs 1 rank to hit 500 feet (Elongation 1 plus rank 3 size). I totally wasn't even looking- I just figured it'd even out. I forgot things DOUBLE every rank. Silly me :)

Total: Abilities: -8 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 8 / Powers: 132 / Defenses: 25 (161)

-Ebirah's a one-shot monster who only showed up in one film, and then again in "Final Wars" (where he jobbed simultaneously with Hedorah, another one-shot '60s foe). He was a giant sea monster that threatened some people, fought Godzilla, ran away, then fought him again, getting his claws ripped off, and he fled again. Not much of a showing for him. He's not that creative a design either- just a big giant Lobster-thing with no super-weapons (aside from HUGE claws, but it's no larger than a normal Lobster's by proportion). It's no wonder he vanished, while characters like King Ghidorah lived on.

-Ebirah is most-unimpressive for a kaiju, being "merely" PL 13 in every way but his Area Attacks, which are still PL 14. This effectively makes him much weaker than standard giant monsters, but still scary for human, superhuman, and military threats, since he can squash groups in 60-foot bursts with one swipe of his giant Claws. He can toss 6,000-ton rocks, live underwater, and he's kinda sneaky, but he gets the most out of being under the waves (doesn't affect his PL caps, but he's got Favoured Environment for it). Godzilla or Rodan would make short work of him, but he can be pretty scary if he needs to be.
