Yeah, it's basically some sorta super-metal, so I threw on the most-obvious-sounding one. "Standard Invincible Comic Book Metal #52" just sounds boring :).

When you absolutely, positively, MUST make a nobody background comic book character look like a hottie that instantly becomes a fan-favourite, you call Bruce ****ing Timm.

Total: Abilities: 38 / Skills: 30--15 / Advantages: 6 / Powers: 65 / Defenses: 14 (138)

-Tala wasn't a big character at first, basically being Cadmus' go-to magic person who I've NEVER heard of in the comics. DC ain't that big on magic masters usually, so she must be REALLY minor (turns out she's a Phantom Stranger foe who is more or less a succubus/Hell Princess type of character who beguiles mortals). She tried (and failed) to control The Annihilator, and it got controlled by Faust instead. She showed up again out of nowhere to assist Grodd (then Luthor, when he performed his coup) and his Secret Society, suddenly becoming a major character and confidante type, getting alot of funny gags based off of her trying (and failing) to soothe the egomaniacal Lexy-Baby. She ended up dying in one of the most horrific manners ever, being literally torn to pieces in Luthor's Gathering Machine, trying to get pieces of Brainiac back together.

-Tala's not really built for combat, though she can be quite handy. Under-pointed, she's more useful as a Mass Teleporter or potion/spell-creator than anyone on the battlefield, where she's stuck using either the Blast or the Force Field, & never both, making her a Glass Cannon mixed with a Slow Glacier.

Total: Abilities: 56 / Skills: 56--28 / Advantages: 15 / Powers: 66 / Defenses: 16 (181)

-Devil Ray was a pretty cool addition to the second season of JLU, completing their homage to the Legion of Doom of "Super Friends" fame, by making him more awesome (as Seanbaby noted in his review of "Super Friends", Black Manta's main power was that he owned a boat). Basically a merc with Luthor-given upgrades, he was turned into a mega-badass and nearly took down Wonder Woman. He didn't get much characterization or anything, but there's that. He was killed in a subsequent episode, when Deadman took over Batman's body, and fired a gun right at him, knocking him into a power box.

-A lethal build, Devil Ray is more dangerous in the water, but plenty tough on land. His Paralysis Darts are extremely dangerous, nearly putting Wonder Woman in the ground, and he's pretty defensible otherwise (unless it's electricity or something).

-KGBeast is one of those unfortunately-named characters, since he's a bad-ass in the "A Physical Rival to Batman" sense. He's so hardcore that he could fight hand-to-hand on Bruce's level, and once CUT OFF HIS OWN HAND to escape a Batrope-trap. Unfortunately, his goofy name and generic look meant that he was de-pushed outside of his creators' hands, and he ended up being whacked by The Tally Man in a hilariously-inconsequential manner for a guy who was basically a proto-Bane. Dude only showed up for a couple scenes in "JLU", always as a non-speaking background Blaster.

Meh, Weather Wizard isn't that bad of a name. Very Silver Age sounding but there is certainly worse out there like Funky Flashman, half the names DC used in the 30th century, or Paste Pot Pete (which takes the cake in my book).

Arthur Eld wrote:Adamantium-at least as the concept of some indestructible metal-is not the domain of Marvel. There have been numerous uses of the term Adamantine as being basically meaning the same thing, some sort of nigh-mythical, super tough metal. Adamantine is also often connected to Greek myth.

Curiously, in Portuguese (translates as "adamantino") it seems to mean specifically "made of diamond" or "as hard as diamonds". That said, I've seen adamantine used in other contexts, but never seem the exact term adamantium used outside Marvel.

Edit: Apparently, at least in Portuguese, it is also a synonym of Magnetite

Anyway, all these non-stop Timmverse builds are pretty much guaranteeing that I'll end up buying all the seasons of these shows. Already bought Batman, actually. I think DC should hire Jab to promote their stuff to the gamer market

-Oh, Brainiac. Superman's OTHER pretty good, old-time villain, he's had some varied incarnations over the years, but this is one of the better ones. A standard boring computer intellect, he's got a personal thing against Kal-El (and vice-versa), and the means to destroy all life via his intelligence-gathering, which makes him a bit better than others with a similar gimmick. He only appeared in the first part of Season 2 of regular ol' Justice League, being tricked by Darkseid into luring the League to Apokolips, and then being forced under the big guy's control. He was ultimately exploded there, but turned up alive in the finale of Season One of JLU, showing up from some ANCIENT "Superman: TAS" episode, where he 'bugged' Luthor in secret, taking over control of his body, ultimately curing him of cancer and setting up a plan to jump into an Amazo-like body. Thankfully, he failed.

-Brainiac alone isn't really a match for a Leaguer, especially the Big Seven. He's expensive as hell thanks to having a boat-load of skills (he's also the smartest build I've ever created, though 'only' a 36 Int because really, why would you need to be higher than that?), tons of Equipment (that Brain-Ship thing is worth a lot), and the abilty to summon Brainiacs from his ship. In the big fight in Season Two's opener, he had a whole horde of Brianiacs running about, taking advantage of the Law of Conservation of Ninjitsu/Henchman/Robots/Etc which states that "the more of the super-powerful thing around, the less competent they will be as a whole". And by 'taking advantage' I mean 'losing badly', because the League pretty well wrecked them. Still, fighting dozens of the guy sure isn't pleasant.

-Luthor & Brainiac merged in the Season One finale of "JLU", and what a final villain he was. Turning an entire building to something else in moments, then taking on the League and easily coming out on top, etc. You know you're a bad-ass when one of the heroes has to spend all his saved Hero Points at once (because he didn't show up in ANY episodes prior to that, just about) by using never-before-seen power levels and running around the Earth a dozen times to knock the Brainiac off of you. He was so big and bad that the next season couldn't HELP but feel like a let-down, but 'only' having FREAKIN' DARKSEID as the main villain.

-Yeah... that's expensive. Not a guy you want to be fighting, especially with TWO Continuous super-pricey powers going on. "Only" PL 13, he's insanely hard to injure, hits like a ton of bricks, can summon seven beings capable of grappling with the Big Seven for several minutes, turn a building into a tentacled machine-abomination, and generally warp any matter into whatever he can come up with. The definition of an over-pointed final villain. He's even got boosted Intellect and all of Brainiac & Luthor's Skills & Advantages!

Minor note here, I don't know if you house-ruled it out or not, but remember that in 3E, skill bonus is limited to PL+10. So both Brainiac and his combined form with Luthor are breaking caps, as-is.

IMHO the Luthor/Brainiac merge was one of the most badass villains I've ever seen. Did this happen before in comics (which I admit I don't really read, I get my superhero fix mostly from animated stuff)?

Thank You sir these were awesome. Makes me want to go back and watch the series again which I plan to do once I get through watching Avengers earth's mightiest heroes(I just got netflix this month it's been hell not reading the reviews and comments about it but I'm almost through and can go get caught back up). Speaking of which considering all the comparisons back and forth on the board I think you should do Avenger's next. You might keep up the level of comments you've been getting lately.

In my eyes the Brainiac/Luthor combo was much more effective "season villain" than Darkseid because there was an evolution to him (or it, I don't know). For an entire season we watched Luthor planning and scheming and the show gave us constant nod and references to older episode. Then the big boom, discovering that Luthor himself was manipulated by a long-term plan by Brainiac that started something like 5-6 seasons ago. When I watched it for the first time it completly blowed my mind (the only other time a show was able to ull it was TNG's final episode, which closed a story arc started with the pilot). By comparison Darkseid's return felt flat, like he was the "villain of the week" kind of opponent.

PS: I'm sorry to read that this is your final DCAU build, but I have faith you'll pull out somethign equally amazing.

And holy crap- that's it for my DC Animated Universe builds! Now THAT was a lot of work, though really, having a whole ton of them done in 2e REALLY helped out, especially as if I was feeling lazy, I could just translate the builds directly from 2e to 3e (with the requisite points-cost increase, of course). Hell, I saved a TON of time doing that, since I didn't even have to add much to my "two paragraphs of comments" that I usually post. Though still, quite a lot of this was new information and building stuff (I mean, HELLGRAMMITE?). Some guys are easier than others- Superman & Batman require a lot of back-checking and re-edits for stuff I'd missed, B'wana Beast probably had the toughest power to build for 3rd Edition, and I had to watch Metamorpho's episode set very carefully to see what he was capable of. Guys with tons of Power Feats are again the most fun to build- people like Red Tornado, Killer Frost, etc. Elementalists are funny that way.

Up next: An assessment of the various DC creators (since I just built almost every major DCU character, short of the Ring-Slingers, Legion of Super-Heroes members, and Teen Titans), same as I once did for The Avengers & Spider-Man.

And to answer the Brainiac/Luthor question: I do believe they've merged before, but usually to Luthor's horror- in "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" (Alan Moore's "Final Pre-Crisis Superman Story"), Brainiac hooks himself up to Luthor's body, and he begs a super-powered Lana Lang to snap his neck and kill him. She does.

re: "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" Builds:
I built pretty much the entirety of The Avengers only last year, and The Masters of Evil roster after that, so there's no need (or want) for me to do those all over again. In 99% of cases, the characters are identical, minus several dozen points' worth of Advantages, Powers and attributes that were gained from experience. I'd say "Avengers: EMH" operates under PL 9-10-ish standards. This allows most of the team to build themselves up over time (they're starting out fairly new, and still being introduced- newly-created villains are a huge threat to them), getting more powerful as we go. Part of me wants to assume it's a standard Starter Hero Universe and go PL 10, but my heart cries out for PL 9 baseline characters.

Also: OHMYGOD OHMYGOD OHMYGOD, you know who this team REALLY needs? SONGBIRD. It just came to me- not only is she the cutest character in the entire Marvel Universe (you may refute this if you wish, but it means that you are wrong and that we may never be friends. And also that you deserve to die), but she offers a ton of powers not seen in the show's team (Dazzles/Create Object), AND adds another girl to a Sausage Party of a team- anyone else is largely redundant (fighters & Stealthy people better than Widow, Flying Bricks better than Danvers, Green Powerhouses better than She-Hulk) or too hard to fit in (Scarlet Witch adds a TON of backstory and X-related stuff they may not want to get into- also her powers are retardedly tough to do). She's be a huge breath of fresh air to the team.

Really, my wishlist for the show is as follows: Ultron goes Adamantium, Some new ladies join the show (I GUESS Ms. Marvel can join if Songbird can't. Spider-Woman would be cool, too- they'd probably stick with Jessica since she's a hot item again, but I always liked Julia more- the single mom aspect would really make her stand out, and actually give someone on this time a REAL SOCIAL LIFE since Thor never hangs out with Jane Foster for more than five seconds in 15 episodes). The Thunderbolts show up (either Zemo disguising villains as heroes, or the government/SHIELD hiring villains to fight The Avengers. Either works. Hell, just do the first as an arc, and then the second as another). The Taskmaster whups some ass. The Red Skull to show up and show those losers Zemo & Strucker what a REAL NAZI is all about. Eric Masterson (ie. "Thor but not as game-breakingly powerful since he's a n00b"). MOAR JOBBERS!!!!!!!! I needs me some Porcupine, some Melter, some Unicorn, and some Goddamn POWER-TOOLS or this show is less complete!!

PL 12 Gods:
Ultron
The Hulk
Thor (Thor is consistently the best and most-powerful member of his team- effectively the "Superman" of this squad, in "JLU" terms)

PL 10-11 Elites:
The Enchantress
The Grey Gargoyle (took out Karnilla in one hit)
Radioactive Man (Held off Thor & Iron Man at once)
Hank Pym (They may as well change his name to Jesus Christ in this version, because DAMN is he elite)
Iron Man (Tony is a bit ahead of the others, but only by a little bit- his Armour practically has the Fades Flaw on it's Protection, and is easy as hell to take out)
Wonder Man
The Absorbing Man

PL 9-10 Standard Guys:
The Black Panther
The Black Widow
Captain America (Fits the Golden Age version)
Captain Mar-Vell
Hawkeye
---
Baron Zemo
The Executioner
Klaw
The Wrecker
The U-Foes
The Abomination
M.O.D.O.K. (His psionic blast is his best weapon- Will Saves aren't quite so high in this 'verse)

PL 8-9 Jobbers:
The Wrecking Crew (Piledriver, Thunderball & Bulldozer)
Whirlwind
The Wasp (God, she's probably only PL 8)
The Mandrill
Jabroniville
Cosmic Entity
