-Manitou is the Skyfather of the Manitou, and I just felt like adding one of them to the mix. A "standard" Skyfather is a PL 15 Magic User/Ass-Kicker who's basically Thor Plus Dr. Strange, making them all remarkably powerful and nigh-unkillable. He's not quite a "Generic" Skyfather, what with his uber-Summoning Power (which cranks his cost up more than 100 points because that's such an expensive and awesome thing in M&M), Spirit Weapons and such, but I found him conceptually interesting. He & his Pantheon don't show up that often since they're generally not as important to world history and Marvel has tons of OTHER Gods kicking around, though.

-This is the Baseline Skyfather Template- guys like The Dagda, Osiris, Bathala, Brahma, Izanagi & Amaterasu could all fit this level- PL 15 (317) is enough to throw down with Thor and win fairly handily, and most Skyfathers have a few extra tricks up their sleeves as well. Variable covers the "can do anything" Magical Power, something I don't use even for great mystics like Dr. Strange & Shaman- though I did do a variant for the latter- I find this reflects just HOW crazy "I can do anything" powerful most Skyfathers are- they can effectively neutralize Doc Strange at the drop of a hat (a buncha points in Nullify, for example), take a huge hit, Regenerate and then just straight-up PUNCH people like they're Ben Grimm.

ComicVine. But it's from "The Infinity Gauntlet"- Odin holds a meeting with his fellow Skyfathers (Brahma apparently was being a douche and no-showed, alongside others) about what to do about this Thanos guy, but a Cosmic Eruption shatters the Bifrost Bridge, which somehow traps them all on Asgard. Why EIGHT SKYFATHERS can't manage to Dimension Travel is unexplained, but I think Jim Starlin just didn't want to have ANOTHER mega-fight, since the heroes & the Cosmics each had to have their turn. It's not like Thanos couldn't have beaten them.

So I basically started with a skull, and then I made him a bit like a horse, with the gap behind the teeth. But horses are beautiful creatures. So what I was aiming for is a sense of death, a sense of monster, underlined by beauty. His costume was the same so that the minute you see that image, when he strikes the stick and becomes "Beta Ray Thor" or whatever, you know: OK, that guy has the powers of Thor. So that's why Bill had the monstrous face, that's why that stuff was done the way it was done.

Total: Abilities: 102 / Skills: 46--23 / Advantages: 23 / Powers: 98 / Defenses: 18 (267)

-Beta-Ray Bill is one of those characters who seems to have a vast fanbase for what is essentially a rarely-seen recurring background character in one hero's book- I'd almost call it Doom Patrol or Red Guardian Syndrome, except that Marvel never gives him his own ongoing series or anything- he's just a really popular supporting character. All I know is that nobody EVER seems to say bad things about this character- he's basically a subversion of the "Ugly = Bad" rule, in that he's a noble warrior despite looking like a monster, and so he was deemed worthy enough to wield Mjolnir, which is bestowed upon VERY few individuals (which was Simonson's whole point in creating the guy- he wanted to see what it'd be like if some monstrous guy just happened to be worthy enough to lift the Hammer). Funnily enough, he was gonna be named "Beta-Ray Jones", but "Bill" was chosen because Marvel had too many "Joneses" at the time.

-Initially a rival, Bill comes to terms with Thor after a big, manly battle, where they bond over being super-manly (this is how every comic book fight between heroes should end). Bill's storyline kinda ended after the Surtur war (I have two trades of Walt's stuff post-Surtur, and Bill doesn't show up) and he goes off with Sif in a kind of "Beauty and the Beast" thing, and didn't really show up until the 1990s, mostly in Space-themed stories. He's allied with Thor, The Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Omega Flight & others, and most recently has shown up alongside other uber-powerful Space Heroes in "The Annihilators".

-I view Beta-Ray Bill as PRETTY MUCH like Thor, minus one notch of fighting ability (generally these days, Bill needs to be saved by Thor more than the reverse), but plus a Heat Immunity (he could have killed Thor on some lava-world because he woke up from a Double-KO first, but chose not to). He costs 4 points more, and has a different Skillset (being based around Space & Technology more often).

Beta-Ray. Sif dumped Thor for this guy. I remember when it happened thinking it was the best thing ever. We could finally see the Enchantress more often. Amora finally got to be the eye candy she deserves to be and what happens? Ragnarok. Bah.

While I'm not particularly fond of Bill (I've read very little with him in it), I like "noble warrior" archetypes in general, and lightning is a favorite power of mine. That along with defying expectations a bit (horrible good guy) makes him a pretty good character as far as I'm concerned.

I especially liked
when they used him instead of the Silver Surfer for the animated version of Planet Hulk, since I really don't like the Surfer
.

The common "I say thee Neigh" joke is something that me took me a while to get, since I'm not a native speaker and didn't care enough to go check what a "neigh" was

By the way, I really like you build of Mjolnir/Stormbreaker, with a single thing I'd like to question: Thor is sometimes seeing floating while using his spinning hammer as a defense (Deflect) or calling down lightning. Maybe the hammers should have a rank of Flight outside the array?

I have to say he's my favorite Thor character of all time. Has been since I played him in the old Marvel TSR game (Cosmos Cubed, Ragnarok & Roll, Left Hand of Eternity).

I wasn't sure if Thor'd been seen flying using his other abilities before (I don't think I saw it while I read Simonson's run), but I think he HAS flown while using his "Lead with Hammer" Hammer Smash power. I'll probably stick a rank outside the Array, since the fact that he'd drop his weapon doing anything like the Hammer Throw would be neutralized by the fact that it comes right back at the end of the round.

I can probably build Grog, given the God Template- he's basically just Stronger, Tougher and uses a Blaster Device.

Thor being able to fly under his own power seems to be something that varies greatly from writer to writer. I've seen Thor throw his hammer and then catch it on the return while still in mid air, while other times they specifically say that he can't fly without his hammer.

My take would be that if Thor throws his hammer in mid air, he has enough wind control to hold himself aloft but not to direct himself, kind of like how Hawkman's anti-gravity belt keeps him in the air, but the wings direct his flight. He can't really direct himself without the hammer, but he can throw it and hold his position for it to return to him, at which point he can start flying again. However, if he gets tackled out of the air, or if he throws it while on the ground, he can't do any flying on his own.

-Utgard-Loki appears from time to time, generally as Yet Another Menacing Kingdom in the lore of Asgard- he's the King of the Frost Giants, though he's based off more of a trickster archetype- it's his castle in which Thor encounters various "tests" disguised as near-impossible tasks. He drinks from a cup attached to the sea (and drops the sea level), almost lifts The Midgard Serpent disguise as a cat, and actually wrestles with Old Age itself. But in Marvel, he's just a jerk who tries to attack Asgard every once in a while.

-He's powerful as hell, but lacks general smarts beyond "Hey, let's go kill things!" He & his Frost Giants are tough enough that a handful of them were able to beat Loki down and would have killed him had Thor not run in for the save, and another time he beat Karnilla using similar tactics (I think). He's PL 11.5, hits like a monster, and he sometimes has access to elite weaponry, like magic powders and stuff that can turn people to stone or make the weather colder (Affliction & Environment- Cold). He also has magical powers. The most difficult thing was assessing his height- almost anything could really suffice based off of appearances (as I noted in my Glossary, Giants are EXCEPTIONALLY prone to Transformers Scale Syndrome, and can appear only a couple times as large as a human in one panel, and 50 feet tall the next). Most pictures I've seen have guys like Loki appearing itty-bitty next to Frost Giants, so 48-feet seems like a good bet. It doesn't really change his capabilities anyhow, just his final cost.

Total: Abilities: 12 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 14 / Powers: 59 / Defenses: 19 (112)

-Basic Frost Giants are extremely dangerous creatures, and even the baseline guys are PL 10 ass-whuppers who can bring down beings as powerful as Loki & Thor in large numbers (Frost Giants should VERY rarely be used with the Minion Rules). They're still big and pretty dumb, but you don't wanna screw with a 48-foot tall guy.

-Sif is Thor's wife in the Norse mythology, and her most famous myth is that where Loki cut off her famously golden locks, necessitating replacement ones being made. However, she's basically JUST "Thor's Wife" in the myths, which is why Marvel's version is so interesting- she's basically a Warrior Goddess with a Sword who beats people up in addition to mooning over Thor (or whoever wields the Hammer- this girl has MIGHTY high standards). Rather than be Thor's wife, she's essentially who replaced Jane Foster (once Marvel cut loose some of it's "Token Female Love Interest" characters in the '60s) as a Recurring Love Interest- they make up and break up on a near-constant basis, and she has a tendency to hook up with whoever currently wields the power of Thor anyways. And for some reason, they made her replacement hair black.

-Sif is a PL 11 Swordfighter archetype, said to be the second-best swordswoman in Asgard except for Brunnhilde (aka The Valkyrie). She has quite a few Combat Advantages for a super-strong woman, and makes frequent use of Accurate Attack, making her one of the better Goonsweepers on Asgard.

A few notes on Asgardians that I've figured out and noted on further reading:

* They lack the Immunities of many other Gods. Despite being stronger on average than most other Pantheons, they can starve to death or freeze.

* Their aging, like the Olympians', requires regular ingestion of something- The Apples of Idunn (The Greeks need Ambrosia). Should either race be deprived of these things, they will quickly begin to age (Vali Halfling once super-aged even Skyfather-level Athena to an old woman in seconds once he broke both the Ambrosia Pot and the Promethean Flame that was heating it). This is more or less an instant Complication and quite rare, but it IS part of mainstream Marvel continuity.

* They kinda need Weapons-as-Devices given their immense strength, unless you assume (as I do) that Asgardian Weapons are just "better" and are a bit heavier and more durable (Strength 10 beings would shatter a Toughness 8 Iron Sword with a single stroke). This makes pretty good sense, given they're from the land of Uru Hammers and junk. This has the flaw that someone like Fandral or Sif would have to use Accurate Attack or something to avoid shattering an Earth weapon they somehow got a hold of.

* Asgardians are much heavier than normal people, but not to positively ludicrous extents (Volstagg is an exception)- someone like Sif weighs about as much as a very heavy human being (she may be the most attractive 425-pound woman ever). I didn't feel like throwing down "Increased Mass" on every single God build- it's more of a general note that they're really heavy. I'm sure you could find cases of Gods flying back from attacks just like any normal person would, and I've never seen their added weights come up in a story. If it bothers you, just use the builds with "Features: Increased Mass" on 'em :).
