Leg Strength: Speed 2 (8 mph), Leaping 3 (60 ft); 5 pts

EQUIPMENT:
(5ep)
PDA: Feature 1 (Technology checks involving computers), Tiny; 1ep, 4ep for other minor science stuff

Nerd: Despite her powers, she still sees herself as a nerdy science girl at heart and she sometimes has to fight through that to be the leader she truly is
Power Loss: Staying in her powered up form for too long can be taxing for her, causing her to revert back to her normal form. In her normal form, she loses her powers and her stats drop to STR 0, STA 1, AGL 1, PRE 0
Rivalry: Rose Wilson, her former best friend

Abilities 94 + Skills 18 (36 ranks) + Advantages 9 + Powers 17 + Defenses 12 = 150 / 150

Comments: I never read any Gen-13, but I have been reading a little Superboy and Ravagers in the New 52. So I figured I’d take a run at the rebooted Fairchild. She’s basically a brick (and HOT brick at that) with a brain and that is a dangerous combination.

SORRY, EVER SINCE 300, I FELT I MUST SHOUT WHENEVER I HEAR THE WORD SPAR-TAN!!! SO SPAR-TAN’S COMMENTS WILL ALL BE SHOUT-TYPED!!!

SPAR-TAN IS THE LEADER OF THE WILDCATS AND HE HAS GONE THROUGH SEVERAL INCARNATIONS!!! AT FIRST HIS CYBORG BODY WASN’T A LOT MORE POWERFUL THAN A STRONG HUMAN, BUT THEN HE”DIED” AND WAS TRANSFERRED INTO A MORE POWERFUL BODY. THEN HE “DIED” AGAIN AND WAS TRANSFERRED INTO AN EVEN MORE POWERFUL BODY!!! THEN I THINK HE GOT UPGRADED AGAIN TO WHERE HE COULD HANG WITH MISTER MAJESTIC AND THEN HE ABSORBED VOID’S POWERS MAKING HIM EVEN MORE POWERFUL SO HE COULD BATTLE TAO!!!

I WENT WITH HIM AT ABOUT THE TIME OF HIS FIRST UPGRADE WHERE HE’S A FULL PL12 BUT NOT IN MAJESTIC CLASS!!! HIS FORTE IS LEADING AND THAT’S WHERE I BUILT HIM SO HE COULD LEAD ONE OF MY JUSTICE LEAGUE/AVENGERS TEAMS!!!

BUT NOW I MUST GO, FOR TONIGHT I DINE IN HELL!!!!

Or Arby’s, there’s really not much a difference there…

Secret Origins: Thousands of years ago, a war raged between the alien races the Kherubim (also known as Kherans) and the Daemonites. One battle took two ships to Earth's Solar system. Both ships crashed on Earth, but the surviving Kherans and Daemonites continued their battle, inspiring humanity to various tales of gods, angels, demons and monsters. One of the high-ranking Kherans was Lord Yohn Kohl, a hero whose likeness was used in the production of the Kheran Spartan Guards.

Over the millennia, Kherans and Daemonite moved their war away from the public eye and went underground. Many of the Kherans and Daemonites mated with humans and produced hybrid offspring. In the 1930s, Yohn Kohl called himself John Colt and became a renowned adventurer and hero. He was asked to join Team One, a clandestine group of superheroes and gifted military men. During their disastrous first mission, Yohn Kohl convinced teammate Lord Majestros to kill him to stop Daemonites from launching a nuclear warhead. Majestros obliged, but Lord Emp was later able to transfer Colt's personality to a prototype Spartan.

The Story so Far: When Emp assembled the Covert Action Team, also known as WildC.A.T.s, to fight the Daemonites, Spartan was chosen to lead them. At first, he seemed to be devoid of any emotion, but over time, he started to develop feelings for his teammate Voodoo. During a mission to stop the Daemonite Lords from reactivating their old spaceship, the Kheran spaceship was found instead. The ship was about to explode so the WildC.A.T.s boarded the ship to fly it out of the Earth's atmosphere. The ship exploded and the WildC.A.T.s were presumed dead except for Spartan, whose body had been severely damaged before. Stormwatch, the U.N. superhuman team, repaired Spartan and he joined the team for a short while, but sacrificed himself in a mission.

Meanwhile, the WildC.A.T.s hadn't died, but in fact activated the ship's hyperdrive that took them back to Khera. On Khera, they discovered that the war had ended millennia ago and that the Kherubim had won. Lord Emp had taken Spartan's backup disc along and installed it in a Spartan Guard on Khera. This body was far more advanced due to the superior Kheran technology. Spartan was appointed as Emp's bodyguard, and soon he discovered a plot to assassinate Zealot. Together with his WildC.A.T.s teammates, they managed to foil the assassination. But recent events had shown them the dark underbelly of Kheran society including their treatment of the defeated Daemonites and they returned to Earth, disgusted with the Kherubim.

Due to a number of internal and external forces, the team disbanded and Spartan lived a normal life for a while. But after the superhero Civil War, he decided to become involved again and is now part of the reformed Avengers.

Characterization: Spartan is a great leader and tactician. He still struggles at times to reconcile his programming with his Kheran memories, but he’s proven himself to be caring and compassionate teammate when needed.

Friends and Foes: He still keeps in contact with several of his WildC.A.T.s teammates, especially Grifter and Zealot. He is developing a kinship with Captain America and is forging a good relationship with Mockingbird, which Clint seems to be a bit jealous of.

He did have Sansa snowed pretty good at the beginning so I could see more Deception over Attractive.

I think you are the first person I've heard that didn't like the books. I've only watched the show since I pretty much only have time to do this and read comics, and I can watch the show while I build. All I generally hear from people is how great the books are.

Then you've never read about Fairchild, because the version in the NU52 is unrecognisable from any past version of Caitlin. You should check up the Gail Simone era, because that was awesome. NU caitlin is to Gen 13, what NU Teen Titans is to the original Teen Titans: In no way related.

There are a few of us in any given community. We are the ones who look at pointless and gratuitous rape and murder and exploitation of children and roll our eyes at the idea that this is for "mature audiences." I tried to read it a couple times, then gave up partway through. Then, I kept hearing about how great they are, and I took a running start, powered through, told myself I enjoyed them. Then the latest book came out, and I heard a little about it, and I about threw up at the idea of reading it. Something about a guy going insane because he was having his hands sliced up and rotting away over the course of weeks... No thanks.

Um, if it helps any, i'm not a fan of the books either. It wasn't the violence or the rape that made me less interested, i'm 100% fine with both as elements of a fantasy fictional universe & would even expect it to a degree, since society is depicted as lacking socialised medicine, or societal safety nets required for an egaltarian society to exist (for that you need D&D stlye heal everyone churches, which stand in as a surrogate public works & medical care).

No, what got me was how you'd travel thousands of miles, across entire continents, fighting against incredible odds only to have characters F' it all up at the last possible instant usually due to someone else vastly unbelievable incompotents, or raving personality disorder. An it was at that point i realised GRRM is just extending his series as long as he possibly can.

But if you do like the general concept of the books, but not quite so... "needlessly brutal," i can't suggest this book to you enough. Its a book called The Briar King by Gregory Keyes, its the first of 4 books, all of which are already out. It has a similiar kind of real polotik background, but other stuff happens & it happens at a reasonable pace, with characters you can actually like... Though i will admit that Keyes does enjoy killing off his characters, but unlike Martin he doesn't do it to add verbosity or violence to the story, its almost always done for the purpose of story.

There is more magic in this series then in the Martin series, but not hand wave & stuff happens magic. Its well worth the read & was so popular they even turned it into an audio book (which is also worth downloading if you are going to be doing a long car trip).

An now back to your regularly schedualed thread. Back to you in the studio Thorpacolypse

FOR SPARTA, THAT'S A MIGHTY BUILD!!
But its histories/backgrounds like that , that really make me annoyed with comics, and one of the reasons why I don't read them anymore. It's always about getting more powerful , or who can be the most powerful. Don't get me wrong though, I loved Wildcats when it first came out, and read it for the first 12-13 issues.

Power Loss: The power ring needs periodic recharging and issues a warning as its power runs low.
Reputation: Stick in the mud, ultra-anal Green Lantern rules Nazi.
Responsibility: Originally to protect his space sector as the Green Lantern of Sector 1418, but now to be the Keeper of the Book of Oa.
Weakness: Green Lantern power rings depend on the willpower of the wearer; the maximum rank of the ring’s effects is equal to the wearer’s Will rank, and moments of self-doubt or hesitation can cause the ring to fail.

Abilities 48 + Skills 19 (38 ranks) + Advantages 9 + Powers 115 + Defenses 31 = 222 / 222

Build Comments: Since I was updating some GLs in anticipation of actually using them (we'll see...), I thought I might work up a couple more fave while I wait impatiently for DC Universe...

Salaak is what every good operation needs, an attention to detail guy. He comes off as a bit of a dick sometimes, but he is a good GL and an indispensable member of the Corps, especially for the Guardians. He had a cool moment during the War of the Green Lanterns (or was it Blackest Night, they’re all running together now) where, with the Guardians out of pocket and the Alpha Lanterns wanting to take control, he exercised his authority as Clarissi, meaning if anything happens to them, he takes over the Corps. Pretty handy Benefit to have, I would think.

Secret Origins: Salaak was selected by the Guardians of the Universe to be the Green Lantern of Sector 1418.

The Story so Far: During the battle with the Anti-Monitor, he protected multiple sectors but found the experience depressing and went to Earth looking for company among his fellow Green Lanterns. He served with the contingent of Green Lanterns assigned to Earth and became good friends with Ch'p of H'lven. For a time Salaak lived in the future filling the identity of Pol Manning, as Hal Jordan had before him (and was married to a human woman), but returned to the present day to warn about the destruction of the Corps. However he was too late to stop the execution of Sinestro. With the destruction of the power battery on Oa, Salaak's ring was made inoperable. He requested transport to H'lven where he was reunited with Ch'p. Salaak served briefly as Ch'p's adviser and friend until the two journeyed to Oa to ask for reinstatement into the Corps. After the reformation of the Corps, Salaak lived on Oa but was captured by slavers when Parallax destroyed the Guardians of the Universe. He was freed by Guy Gardner and was on Earth for the memorial service to Jordan. With the second reformation of the Corps, Salaak was selected as a senior administrator and the Keeper of the Book of Oa. As protocol lantern, Salaak is at the top of the chain of command if the Guardians are ever out of commission.

Characterization: A famous pessimist and loner, Salaak is a creature of protocol and laws. A veteran Green Lantern, he served in many Corps campaigns over the years.

Friends and Foes: While Salaak has become friendlier to several Green Lanterns over the years, his greatest loyalty is to the Corps itself and he has often chosen duty over his personal relationships.

By contrast, literally all of my friends and acquaintances have quit the books in disgust.

To clarify, what I generally hear (and experienced myself) is that the first three books (which he wrote in less than five years) are excellent, while the fourth and fifth books (which took something like ten or eleven years) actually grind the story to a complete halt, complete with comic-book style character resurrections and reset-button retcons. The only thing that continues is Martin's insatiable appetite for describing torture and disease. And food. As others have mentioned, he seems to have abandoned the plot altogether and taken to writing travelogs so that he can just keep the franchise going.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens after Season Three on HBO. I can't imagine they'll go for eight episodes of Tyrion's ruminations on turtles (Peter Dinklage is an excellent actor, but no one is good enough to make that crap watchable).

Re: Fairchild, I have to agree with Saint_Matthew; Gail Simone's reboot of Gen13 is brief, but captures the essence of the characters far better than what we've seen in the latest DC Universe.
no, grant morrison is never right about anything.

The books... WERE good. Now they are... Well... Book five. Each individual chapter is awesome. They're great and I would love to read any one of them.

But for the overarching plot? It's ground to a halt. Plot threads have been accumulating (and not resolving) since the third or fourth book. They've become interminable.

And hence, THIS is why I don't read. Well, except for The Dresden Files and even those books are a battle for me, as much as I love the characters and am invested. Give me 25 pages of Deadpool or Invincible any day. 8)

EQUIPMENT:
(5ep)
Flash Goggles: Feature 1 (+5 Visual Dazzle Resistance), Tiny; 1ep

OFFENSE:
Initiative +3
Close Attack +6 [Unarmed +2]
Ranged Attack +8
Power Ring +10 [Force Blast +12, Multiattack; Force Lifting Move Object +12; Force Constructs +12]

DEFENSES:
Dodge +10 [DC20] Parry +9 [DC19]
Toughness +3 (+2 without Defensive Roll, +12 with Force Field, +6 Impervious with Force Field), Fortitude +8, Will +12

COMPLICATIONS:
Power Loss: The power ring needs periodic recharging and issues a warning as its power runs low.
Responsibility: To protect her space sector as the Green Lantern of Sector 1253.
Weakness: Her Nybergian physiology causes her to get nauseated when flying from time to time. Consider her hindered during those times.
Weakness: Green Lantern power rings depend on the willpower of the wearer; the maximum rank of the ring’s effects is equal to the wearer’s Will rank, and moments of self-doubt or hesitation can cause the ring to fail.

Abilities 42 + Skills 15 (30 ranks) + Advantages 10 + Powers 106 + Defenses 25 = 198 / 198

Build Comments:[/color] Sheriff Mardin has become regular character in the GL Corps these days. Her story is that she took over as GL for her husband who was killed. They have done a lot of development for her character yet, but I hope they do. For now, she’s a better than average GL that can handle a gun well, hence the Ranged attack bonus.

Secret Origins: A Green Lantern's widow, Sheriff Mardin took up her husband's mantle after he lost his life in service to the Green Lantern Corps.

The Story so Far: Her sector's criminals recently formed an interplanetary conglomerate, and Mardin has put in requests for Oan support several times, specifically the Honor Guard of the Corps. Sheriff Mardin hardly ever uses her power ring, solving the problems of her planet's pioneers using her wits and practical nature. When she does have to use the ring, though, she tries to avoid flying as the experience doesn't agree with her bio-chemistry.

Build Comments:
Brik is a GL introduced back when they Corps was being reformed with the return of Hal Jordan from death a few years back. She is from Dryad, the same planet the Blok of the Legion of Super Heroes was, or I guess WILL be from in the 30th century. She is a living rock type person so she is strong and hard to hurt without her ring, but I haven’t been able to tell how strong, so I went low level brick (pun intended) for now. I find her an odd addition since Hannu is around and he’s a similar physiology, but so be it.

Secret Origins: Brik was recruited by Hal Jordan during the first restoration of the Corps. Hal discovered her on the planet Dryad, a world populated by beings composed entirely of organic rock. As befitting a stone based race, the people of Dryad hardly move during there lifetime.

The Story so Far: When Hal Jordan offered Brik an alternative to this life of inactivity, she enthusiastically accepted and thanked Hal for giving her a chance for a new and more exciting life. Her gratitude to Jordan soon developed into a crush on the veteran Lantern. Although Hal was flattered by Brik's affection, she was not exactly his type. Not wanting to hurt his new recruit, Hal tactfully explained to Brik that relationships between Lanterns and their superiors were frowned upon in the Corps. Still, Brik would demonstrate a fierce loyalty to Jordan during the early days of the first reformation.

Comments: Ah yes, the big guns of the Bleach-verse, Rangiku Matsumoto. And I am not talking about her fighting prowess...

Tite Kubo apparently is a breast man (I am, too, which is probably why I like that show so much) because he has several very well-endowed women in his main cast. The funny thing for me is that once the initial “whoa” passes, it doesn’t take away from what they can do as combatants or characters. Well, most of the time.

Rangiku certainly knows how to use her looks to her advantage which is why she gets sky high interaction skills and she’s a good team player as well. Her Shikai with Hanieko is similar to Byakuya’s in that her blade scatters into tiny pieces and attacks her opponent(s) from all sides. A Multiattack blast power stunt could used as well to simulate certain instances. I was going to add Deflect as well, but I’ve only seen her do that once, so it looks like a power stunt to me as well.

And yay to her for inspiring some...talented cosplayers! How I love it when life imitates art...

Blok (in the LSH), Garv, and Strata (from L.E.G.I.O.N.) all had credible super-strength and durability, but neither looked quite as humanoid as Brik. I was not even clear that she's supposed to be the same species. I'd put Blok's strength at least on par with Timber Wolf's, and his overall durability seemed to be nearly Superboy level, though he was less agile.
