Comments: I love the Avengers Academy’s main arch-nemesis, Jeremy Briggs. He was a former recruit of Osborn’s, like the other Academy kids, but he got out and decided to use his powers of molecular alteration to make money in the private sector and as he says, make the world a better place. What he really appears to be doing is unclear, but he sure talks a good game, has recruited several other young heroes, as well as Jocasta now, to his cause and is making a name for himself.

I loved the first issue he was in where the writer used him to almost poke fun at the whole superhero/supervillain age old conflict as Jeremy asked about why there has to be roles and why things always break down to violence, so on and so forth. Then when the Academy kids did eventually jump him because they figured that he did do some things that were pretty supervillain-ish, he took them out in short order and when the security team arrived, he let them go with a smile on his face as noted in this picture.

It was a really great read. And it was compelling because he made some really great points and like the other villains I really love, Lex Luthor and Doctor Doom at the top of the list, it's that sound reasoning amongst the juuuust over the line execution that makes him the most dangerous. As far as the build goes, they've only really showed him using his powers once, that part is mostly guesswork. And while he has shown some pretty sophisticated equipment and such, it's debatable how much he did himself and how much as done for him, so I may be off in his skills.

Now that the Academy has been disbanded in the wake of AvX, he reached out to them again and promised to cure Hazmat and Mettle (and did) but of course, he had his own reasons for doing so. I look forward to the big throwdown between his foundation and the Academy, at the end of the arc, should be a doozy.

Since that sort of thing doesn't really sell well anymore, he only pops up from time to time when stuff goes down in the Savage Land or when one of the Marvel writers is feeling nostalgic. Still, you gotta like him and I LOVE Zabu. I got my son some of the Pet Avengers books and he loves them, and Zabu's involvement always makes them even more silly fun.

I also love that he knew how to "that Calvin and Hobbes" thing and freeze in a museum when he was in Spider-Man's care. That was funny. :wink:

Thorpacolypse, I saw your write-up of MING and Kleitus, then enjoyed it so much I felt a powerful urge to compliment you on producing such particularly fine work; I did little to resist it, so please allow me to say "well done, well done and extremely well done."

On a lighter note, might I ask if write-ups of a Dale, Flash and Doctor Zharkov able to keep these rogues in line will be forthcoming? (I'd add VULTAN to the list, but he'd just add to the problem of keeping the 'Defenders of the Earth/Evil Masters of Mongo' aisle in a parlous state of peace and quiet, for obvious reasons). :wink:

p.s: If I recall correctly, I remember that while your family in general was in fine fettle, your lady fair was afflicted with some manner of ailment when last we traded words, so might I ask if the lady has recovered and add my best wishes for your health and the health of all your family?

I can put some more Flash Gordon folks on the list. I've been hopping lately at work and home which hasn't left much time for new builds, but I had about 50 on my hard drive that I hadn't finished, so as I finish those, I will work in the new ones. And come on, there is no Flash Gordon without Vultan! Peace be damned...DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!! 8)

The Missus has recovered well from her broken leg, thanks for asking. Outside of the occasional weather related or sleeping in the wrong position soreness that will be with her forever, she's had no issues, which was great. But of course, hitting the 40s does nothing but add little aches and pains for both of us so now she is dealing neck issues, a pinched nerve in her shoulder and carpal tunnel (probably all related). I told her that I was going to have trade her in and split her age for two other girls; a 25-year-old to date and an 16-year-old to babysit, but she didn't find it as funny as I did for some reason. :mrgreen:

Comments: Good old surly Pietro. Son of Magneto, brother of the Scarlet Witch, ex-husband of Crystal, someone villain, sometime Avenger, sometime X-Man, full time dick. That pretty much sums him up. I have liked his recent involvement with Avengers Academy and I am surprised he hasn't been more involved with AvX, but I guess you can only have so many "main" characters in a series.

For his build, I took my Flash powerset and scaled it back a bit, made a few tweaks and there you go. He's a very effective character and sometimes gets forgotten in the Marvel U, but I've always liked him since I can understand why he might have chosen the assholic path instead of the more noble one.

Comments: Man, this was a pain in the ass build, but I really wanted to get him done. Fantomex had an interesting run for a while in the X-Verse, then he disappeared for a good while and is now back on the scene as a part of X-Force. He was one of those characters that got a big push, tons of powers and such then faded quickly.

Fantomex, which is an obvious play on the legendary French character Fantomas, was grown in the Weapon X facility as Weapon XII. He is all about deception and reading the situation and was able to cast illusions that even Professor X and Jean Grey couldn’t see through. He claims to have grown EVA, his sentient ship-thingy from his own central nervous system and she acts as such for him as well a transport. He is also a master marksman, acrobatic, seems to be immune to telepathy, is supposed to have four brains, a healing factor and can enter a trancelike state where he can perform self-surgery if need be. All this adds up to one expensive character.

For some reason I just can't stand Fantomex. Maybe it's the whole french thing.
