kenmadragon wrote:As a note, you wrote Impervious 2 in the stats for her armor, but bought it as 4 and noted it as Impervious 4 in her defenses. You might want to edit that for consistency's sake, though it is a very cool build nonetheless.
I mention my listing of Impervious in the house rules:

 Impervious: It's a flat 2 pts per ranks, so (as an example) +10 Impervious costs 20 pts and automatically repels up to 10 ranks of damage. I think RAW is confusing.

Comments: Brunnhilde has had quite a messed up backstory in the Marvel U, but she’s finally been getting her props in The Fearless and Fearless Defenders.

I'll whip up Aragorn later. For short term purposes, one could just add a little Armor to my Pegasi build from my fantasy setting along with the Mental Link to Val and be set.

Abilities 108 + Skills 4 (8 ranks) + Advantages 1 + Powers 258 + Defenses 4 = 375 / 375

Comments: The current Captain Universe has played a major role in the new volume of Avengers, which I have recently professed my appreciation for. When the original big bads of the series right now, Ex Nihilo and his sister Abyss, along with their world destroying android, Aleph had the Avengers on the ropes, she showed up, and they bowed to her as mother and that was that. Hickman is being very cryptic about the whole thing with them and her and the big event, but as I said in my Hyperion build, the slow burn of the arc has hooked me.

Overall, the Captain Universe mantle has been in the Marvel U for a long time and gets passed around when it's needed for a big event, or just when some writer has a nostalgia attack, or really needs a cosmic macguffin to wrap something up. It makes normal humans at least PL15 characters, and when it's being wielded by a super-powerful character, it makes them REALLY hard to deal with. Check the wikis for more info if you're curious.

Comments: I was looking at some cosmic level female supervillains to build during this LADIES’ NIGHT run, but instead, I came across Pink Pearl and it was jobber love at first sight. Pearl actually held her own with Northstar and Aurora for a while in her original appearance, but that was new villain stink for sure. Pearl has been jobbing ever since, when some writer pulls her out for a little humor. I probably made her a bit too formidable, but hey, I like her concept and us fat people gotta stick together!

Wait... is Pink Pearl just an evil version of Big Bertha?

And EnigmaticOne, I thought the exact same thing. It was a "wait, what?" moment as I saw it, and it wasn't until I actually looked it up that I realized it's just a flying horse. :(

Yay! PINK PEARL! Thorp, ya made my day!

I Love Pink Pearl and Big Bertha too, but Pearl more because as a much lower-powered woman, she still goes out there against potentially tougher opponents like when she fought and beat Northstar, Aurora and a friend. She has also fought Diamond Lil and even Captain America!

I don't believe you made Pearl too formidable; this is what she is capable of doing. Pearl is exceptionally strong. That has been demonstrated. For instance, Pearl has held both Aurora and another woman (at different times) by their necks with an outstretched arm for a number of panels with no strain. I believe Aurora is listed at about 140 pounds. So, that is quite a feat and requires superhuman strength. I would estimate about 1600 pounds worth, so a "5" STR (at least) would not be too high.

But I thought the PL might be higher like a "9" or even "10"?

And don't forget these powers: Leap and Bounce.
Both have been shown more than once, and usually at every appearance. For instance, Pearl has Leaped and Bounced high into the air to try to get Aurora who was flying. Pearl bounces like a ball, on her sides, front, back. I would saw leap is at least 15 ft, maybe even 30. Bounce probably about the same.

I like her "Big Woman" powers because that is what they are.

And you nailed Pearl's "I'm sexy and I know it"----Pearl really doesn't give a darn about what anyone thinks----she is all that and a carton of dip-n-chips....and even more!! She reminds me of Honey Boo-Boo's Mom June.

If you want some ideas for really high-strength females to stat-up, how about DC's females:
Rampage, Night Girl, Andromeda and Titania? And definitely, a pre-crisis Supergirl!

That Kara was listed as stronger than Superboy in a previous RPG. The other women would be at least a 14, but most likely 17s if not even higher. I would love to see your take on them. Thanks.

Considering her sole victory was against a rookie Aurora & Northstar, and she's never won since, I'd think PL 9 & 10 are going too far. It's cool that you love the character so much, but to a certain point it's just your biased favouritism to want her to be uber-powerful :). It's like how I have to hold myself back from making Cyclone super-powered when I stat her up.

I tend to agree with Jab, G, although I you make a very persuasive case. 8)

Putting her any higher puts her in Kingpin-ish level, and she's certainly not there. I will add the Leaping, though. I missed that the first time.

Pearl only had a few appearances, so 1/3 wins or 1/4 wins still gives her at least a 25% win ratio, not bad for a minor villainness! And against more than 1 foe!

Don't forget, like other artistic license that artists/writers do, they sometimes have even very powerful villains LOSE because they want the good (heroes) to win and to portray the positive values, etc. Even Dr Doom lost many times to the FF, despite advantages, hostages, power, etc. And the losses didn't make him weaker or any less powerful stat-wise.

Northstar and Aurora were somewhat new at the superhero game, but, off-hand, I believe Pearl was introduced in issue #22 of Alpha Flight. In contrast, by issue #22, the Fantastic Four were quite skilled at using their powers as they were at that time and had many wins (but of course they were the heroes)---powers that were not naturally born to them as were the twins, despite the fact that especially Aurora did not have access to them from the age of 13 when they first manifested. But still, they were superheroes and had training under Guardian. Even the 1960's original X-Men had wins very early on, before issue #22, and back then, all of their powers (except the Professor's) were very mild/weak. Angel could only fly. Jean was usually shown levitating a book or a chair! But once again, they were the heroes.

Pearl does have some super-strength. The fact that she twice held adult women of 140 pounds + by the neck with one arm outstretched for a series of panels with no strain nor stress demonstrates this. Try holding 2 gallons of water (16 pounds) that way for 30 seconds--you will feel how hard it is. She also held Captain America against his will---he couldn't pull free and he can lift 800 pounds.

I do like the character of Pearl, but I wasn't trying to make her ubber-powerful. Really. I had no idea that a PL of 9 or 10 would do that. While still new to M&M 3E, I thought ubber powerful would be PL17 or greater, no?

I think Thorp did a great job and didn't want him to change any of the stats---they seemed right on target. I was just asking about the PL level, especially with the addition of the Leaping and Bouncing added in. :)

Why would Leaping increase her Power Level at all? Its a movement power, it has nothing to do with PL.

And put it this way-most people build Northstar at around PL 9 or 10. A character at the same level would have about a 50/50 chance of beating him, not a 1/4 chance.

Comments: Again, we are fans of all jobbers great and small here at J-Mart. And to add another to LADIES’ NIGHT, I went for an obscure Hawkeye jobber, Javelynn. I was going to start building Javelin from DC and I came across her on wiki, so I had to whip her up. She was a protégé of Trick Shot whose weapon of choice is, surprisingly, javelins. Clint took her out pretty quick so we didn’t see a lot of what she could do, so I just gave her some basic stuff. If I actually use her, I might pump up her arsenal a bit, but really, this is probably being too nice as it is.

Secret Origins: Javelynn was an orphan like Clint and Barney Barton who was also trained by Trick Shot.

The Story so Far: Javelynn and Trick Shot were hired guns for the Secret Empire and Viper as they created canine humanoids as biological combat units. One of the canine humanoids escaped the compound and was rescued by Hawkeye after it was shot multiple times. Hawkeye named the canine creature Rover and it revealed to him the experiments going on through pictures. Hawkeye and Rover located the Secret Empire hideout in a jungle and fought their way into the compound. Javelynn was left solo after Trick Shot betrayed both her and Viper. She attempted to pierce her enemies with her trademark weapons. Rover evaded the attack and Hawkeye knocked her out with an arrow to the head.

Characterization: Javelynn is a jobber villain that thinks she is better than she is. She’s snarky and mean-spirited and really wants to climb up the ranks to get the respect she thinks she deserves.

Friends and Foes: She has a rivaly with Hawkeye and is still not happy with her mentor for bailing on her.

Hatred: Superman.
Power Loss: Leslie must recharge her powers after significant usage. Her powers can also be negated by Silica dust.
Thrills: Leslie is the epitome of shock jock and lives for the thrill of taking on "the man".
Vulnerable: She can have her powers shorted out easily by water and enough can incapacitate her immediately.

Abilities 36 + Skills 19 (38 ranks) + Advantages 7 + Powers 167 + Defenses 18 = 247 / 247

Comments: Livewire was one of the best villains in Superman TAS, period. Voiced by one of my 90’s crushes, Lori Petty, she was a shock jock that didn’t like Superman and got electrical powers in an accident. So she decided to try and take him out and she almost succeeded a couple of times. She was one of the few villains that had the power to really hurt Supes. They brought her into the DCU proper and she took out Superman in her first appearance, but he’s gotten her back every time since.

I wanted her to a have a puncher’s chance against him, so I made her a PL11 that can hit +20 with a full Power Attack, which she will use a lot. She’s hard to hit and hard to hurt thanks to her Insubstantial so he has to think to beat her in a straight up fight. Fortunately for him, she’s even weaker against water than Electro, so breaking open a fire hydrant can end a fight against her pretty quick.

And I don't know why for sure but man, did I always have a thing for her. But I suppose, as previously noted, me likey the bad girlz.

Secret Origins: Leslie Willis was the meanest "shock jock" radio host in Metropolis. Nobody, not even Superman, stood immune to her words and Lex Luthor tuned into her daily. On the anniversary of her radio show Leslie was going to host a rock concert for all her fans and fans of the band. All did not go as planned as a massive storm erupted. She is told by the Police Force that she should shut down the concert. Leslie, being always the rebel, along with the fans pelleted them with foods and drink until Superman showed up and then he was attacked. Then without warning the stage was struck by lightning causing it to burst into flames. Superman did his best to rescue everyone and even help Leslie but the inevitable happened and the electric tongued women was struck by lightning because of one of the wires she was standing on.

This changed her appearance drastically and gave her the power to harbor electricity. When Willis woke up, she saw that her skin had turned ghostly white and her hair turned blue and stood on end. She discovered she could manipulate electricity. She accused Superman for the injuries she had suffered from the accident she actually created.

The Story so Far: Willis then escaped from the hospital by turning herself into an electric current. Confronting Superman, she declared herself to now be Livewire, and took over the telephones, televisions, and billboards-effectively taking over all of media. She defeats him in their first battle, but in the rematch Superman stopped her when he doused her with water.

She clashed with Superman on a number of occasions with him continuing to have the upper hand. She is currently incarcerated in Belle Reve Prison, waiting for her chance to escape and go after The Man of Steel again.

Characterization: Livewire is a thrill-seeking, motormouth rebel.

Friends and Foes: She has teamed up with other villains on occasion but usually works alone and has one goal: taking down Superman.

While I respect your opinion Thorp, we all know who the top DCA bad girl is in terms of hotness .

The voice alone does it for me! 8)
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.
