But by making the effects Close range, it saved a good amount of points and being able to get the Lasso around someone at 20 ft isn’t too bad of a tradeoff, I suppose.

Comments: A playable Iron Man at PL12. I had to make the armor removable to make it work, but that’s justifiable for a more iconic Iron Man, I suppose. I may go back and tweak this a bit, to refine the Uni-beam, which I love the representation of in Avengers: Earth's Mightiest heroes where it's used as an endgame type of weapon, so a better area effect wouldn't be out of line, I just need to think about it a bit.

Comments: The circa spring/summer 2011 incarnation of The Hulk at PL10. I was surprised that I was able to squeeze in enough of the Banner influence and keep him a major league PL10 hitter, but I think it came together well.

He hasn’t shown that he’s consistently as smart as Banner all the time, but every now and then, he seems to put out something more Professor Hulk-ish so I added a way for him to tap into his inner Banner when he needs to. I wasn’t sure if I could use the Sustained flaw for that, but I knew I wanted it Distracting since he has to have internal dialogue with…well, himself…in order to do it so while I didn’t think it called for Increased Action, I did want to him to be penalized for it enough to where he wouldn’t use it much, but I didn't want it left to a power stunt.

And tell me the Hulk didn't just STEAL the Avengers movie. Some of the best interactive CGI so far I think. They really made it feel like he was there with everyone, unlike the first Hulk movie.

Comments: Black Widow as a PC. She’s one who you can make close to her incarnation with the points available. I adjusted her Widow’s Bite to equipment and just threw in the usual Beginner’s Luck and Jack-of-all-Trades that I like to give my PC skill monkeys to give them a chance to do those things that skill monkeys should be able to do when they need to.

And Scarlett rocked as the Widow in The Avengers. I think she probably did enough to warrant her own movie, but I bet it doesn’t happen. Between Cap 2, Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and the Avengers sequel, it looks like studios are booked for the next 3 years.

Comments: I was compelled to whip up this Janet build after watching the new Avengers cartoon on Disney XD. It’s pretty good and Janet is a highlight. Her spunk and humor keep the show moving as the try to establish all the characters for a new generation of fans. Even Pym is being portrayed decently, but you can see the suck turn coming as Ultron's head sits in his lab and his jealousy over Janet crops up from time to time.

I'm not quite happy with the build so I will come back to it, but I am OK with it. I didn't add her Growth as an AP since she doesn't do it much, really, but I might hit that again in a clean up. I did add a lot of things to make her a great teammate, which she always is, so I do think she'll have a use for hanging with the big boys, like she does in the comics.

Wife-smacking…Ultron creating…too many gimmick having…having his Skrull replacement EXCEED him…pitiful. Apparently he is just the whipping boy of the Marvel writers. One would think that would change with new regime, but man, from Stan the Man onto Quesada, the guy just can’t catch a break. At least the new Avengers cartoon is treating him fairly decently, even if they are making out to be a total stiff in regards to his and Janet's relationship.

So as stated on J-Mart II, I am trying to bury the hatchet with him. The man needs some support. Given his powerset, experience and abilities, he should be a PL12-ish super scientist/slash powerhouse that can rival Stark or Batman, but he’s been stuck in suck limbo forever. Well, I am going to try and make amends. Heck it is even my birthday AND it's a landmark build and who is it? That’s right. Pym. He still sucks, but now I am embracing his suckishness as opposed to vilifying it! Suck on, Hank, suck on! :mrgreen:

Comments: The fairly recently returned Mockingbird is a decent character, although she’s really kind of a rip-off Black Canary that was teamed up with Hawkeye ala Ollie and Dinah’s relationship. Still, she’s had her fair share of involvement in some decent Avengers’ arcs and is a pretty strong street level hero, being a PL9.5-ish with her Battle Staves and a PL10 on defense. This is her pre-Infinity-Super Soldier serum stuff, obviously.

I had to sacrifice his a lot on his science and technology skills for this version, but I may go back and reduce his Snare to get some more points. I like him being a full PL10 on offense with those, though, so I’ll have to do some finagling.

Clean Up 4/14/13: Another run at Spidey gets him a little closer to where I want him with these points.

Comments: My man, Luke Cage. Loves me some Luke. After originally starting out as a blaxploitation style hero in the 70’s, with his metal headband and “disco yellow shirt” as he called it, he’s been a long time member of the Marvel street scene. He jumped around from book to book, with runs on the Avengers and Defenders, but mostly teaming up with 70’s style martial arts hero, Iron Fist as the Heroes for Hire.

However, Brian Michael Bendis’ writing for him in New Avengers going back a few years now, completely re-energized his character, making him one of the new leaders of the Marvel U heroes. He’s been a fave of mine forever, being a black kid who grew up reading comics in the 70’s (god, I’m getting old) and to see him really shine these past 3-4 years has been great. His chemistry with Wolverine and Spider-Man has been classic. I love seeing him and Ben Grimm rolling with the latest New Avengers team. On the old thread, I worked a story with him and Nightwing getting to be buddies and while that story is gone, I still plan on having them work together because it just seems like a fun pairing.

As a build, pretty standard powerhouse. He wasn't hard to cram into the PL10/150 PC case and I think I did OK, still not sure about some of his powers and I’m definitely not sure on Skills yet, but time will fix that and Lord knows I love to rework a build!
