Investigation/Well-Informed:

One Degree: She's a private investigator. I think her claim for being an occult investigator is just a gimmick.

Two Degrees: It's not a gimmick, she really does deal with the supernatural! She knows how to handle herself in a fight.

Three Degrees: One thing that annoys her is when someone thinks that magic's a shortcut to power. She tends to shut them down as hard as she can!

Four Degrees: Someone threatened to rape her client, and Ms. Magus completely lost it! She knocked the would-be rapist out with one blast!

Critical*: Rumour has it that the reason Cass reacts badly to any hint of sexual abuse is because she was nearly raped herself in high school. The trauma most likely triggered her magical ability, as there's no record of her using it beforehand.

One Degree: There is a rare off-shoot of humanity known as homo magi, for whom magic runs in the blood. Zatanna, one of Earth's most powerful magicians, is descended from them.

Two Degrees: The homo magi were concentrated in Atlantis, and there are several magicians who obtained their powers by being part of the homo magi line. One such magician is Cass "Ms. Magus" Valentine, a private investigator from New York.

Three Degrees: It seems that most of the homo magi died out about 1,500 years ago.

Four Degrees: It wasn't an extinction that reduced their numbers, it was a mass migration. Most of them moved to a hidden city in Turkey, which was then shifted into another dimension.

Cassandra is descended from the homo magi, magic runs in her blood. She discovered her talent after she instinctively blasted a man who tried to assault her back in high school. The resulting injury meant he wasn't going to do that again for a while, if ever again. Her grandmother found out, and trained her, emphasising that she had to use it responsibly.

She usually makes ends meet by investigating possibly irresponsible uses of magic, usually by some jumped-up dabbler who thinks it's their shortcut to money and power.

Her first move when going non-lethal is to Dispel any other magic, activate her forcefield and then shout "Don't Move!" to paralyse the target. When she has reason to use lethal force, she forgoes the paralysis spell and just blasts them.

She can fulfil a variety of roles in combat, mainly as support. Healing, blasting an opponent from a distance, secondary powerhouse, she's able to do all sorts!

Here we have Omegadrones, the soldiers of Omega, the Lord of the Terminus. As you can see, they're not so tough against PL 10 heroes, but at PL 5-7, they can pose quite a problem.

The lack of Will means that psychic attacks are the best way to stop an Omegadrone.

Cruise Control Part 1

On the train from Waterloo to Southampton...

As Simon sat on the train, he checked the documents that Antenna gave him. He found a letter labelled "Open me once the train's left London."

The letter reads:

Griffin,

I heard about what happened with Andrew, and that you need to get away for a bit, so I managed to get you a ticket on Queen Mary 2! I've been with Cunard before, so I can give you some advice.

Given the nature of your trip, you'll need to pay your stateroom account deposit ($300) in cash. There's nothing I can do about that, I'm afraid. In order to do so, you need to tell Reception. It's a good thing that you had your balance with me turned into U.S. dollars, as that's the main currency on board. They do have the Internet on board, but it's quite expensive. Not as expensive as using your mobile on board, though! Then again, with the amount of money you had converted into dollars, it's not like you can't afford it.

Try to be awake VERY early in the morning on the day when QM2 makes it to New York. The sight when she sails past the Statue of Liberty is something to behold. I've actually seen grown men fall to their knees when they see her lit up by the sunrise!

One thing you should know. Cass Valentine, AKA Ms. Magus is going to be on board. You can befriend or fight her, just don't tell her who told you she was there!

Antenna already knew who killed the Akimbo Assassin? Not surprising, given that he ran Britain's biggest information network and the biggest grey/black market on the mainland. It also helped that Simon fought Andrew to the death at Trafalgar Square, right in the middle of London. And Ms. Magus is on board? He might not even have to deal with her, QM2 is a huge ship after all. And besides, Captain Blood's been reported as being at large again. If he hits the ship, at least there's someone on board who can help fight him off.

Griffin rolls Well-Informed and gets 20. He knows about Ms. Magus being a top-notch occult investigator who doesn't mess about in a fight. Her specialty: stopping those who think that magic is a shortcut to personal gain, as hard as she can. He also knows that the one thing you just don't do when dealing with her is to threaten to sexually abuse anyone if she can find out about it.


Simon went to the toilet and did a check on everything he had on him.

"Clothes, check. Morphic Molecule Suit, check. Over sixty grand, oh yeah!"

Simon spent £5,000 on the MM Suit, because it was the perfect fit for when he went caping about. Created and perfected by Dr. Atom, it was durable, all-weather, and it adapts itself to the wearer's powers. Simon particularly liked how you could link it to your phone or radio. People could even download new designs if they liked.

Then Celia appeared in the mirror. Two appearances in one day? That was either very good or very bad. But what else could be expected of someone so powerful, she could bring a man back from the brink of death and empower them. Simon knew that, because that's what happened to him when he first met her. He knows that when she appears, listening to her is a good idea.

Simon said "What? I looked it up and there's nothing in Cunard's policy that states that I can't wear a MM Suit on board QM2! There's no way I can bypass the dress code without it."

"I'm not here about that. I want to know what you think you're doing."

"You did suggest that I should get out of here as soon as possible, so I called Antenna. The police will think that I'll be at my destination the same day I killed Andrew. A good amount of heat should be off me by the time I reach port."

"How do you know that the documents he gave you won't leave you in Belmarsh or Broadmoor?"

"I actually saw what happened the last time someone dared sell dodgy stuff to Antenna. Two men were thrown out of the back of a van, who had both just been severely beaten. A sign was on each of their necks, saying 'They sold fake items to me, this is their fine.' With a drawing of two umbrellas held in one hand where the signature should be. They were thrown out onto Parliament Square while the traffic was still going."

"And you dealt with this man?"

"It wasn't like I was going to cross him. Besides, the amount of money I gave him, he knew I was good for it!"

"You spent nearly all the money you got from beating Firefox on acquiring this getaway of yours."

"Money that the government didn't know I had! How can they look for anything if they don't even know it's there to look for? That's what made it the perfect way to pay Antenna."

"I see you're thinking things through. I'll leave you to it then. Bon voyage!"

"Thank you, my Lady."


Queen Mary 2, Ocean Cruise Terminal, Southampton...

Simon was feeling all sorts of things, but right now, he was a bit nervous. He was going to America, on a one-way trip, all on his own. But he can't stay in Britain. Not after what he did.

Lucky for him, Antenna's documents were accepted by Customs. After the lifejacket drill, he went straight to the Purser's Desk on Deck 2 to put some money on his account. After that, he could feel the ship moving. Queen Mary 2 was now under way! Some of the British passengers were singing "Here we go, here we go, here we go!"


A few hours later...

Simon just finished dinner at the Britannia Lounge, when a lady in a red dress sits next to him.

She says "Can I sit here?"

"Go ahead, love."

"Thanks."

"This is my first time on board."

"I'm on my return trip. I'm sorry, but I didn't catch your name."

"I'm Simon. Nice to meet you." He then kissed her hand.

"I'm Cass."

Simon was thinking 'It's her! It's Ms. Magus!'

Cass was thinking 'That's the Griffin? He seems nice, for a killer.'


Ms. Magus rolls Well-informed and gets a Natural 20! She knows that Simon claims to have gotten his powers from a NDE, the general nature of said powers, and that his opponents usually need an ambulance afterwards as well as the police. She also knows that he means it when he gives his word, prefers to fight and patrol alone, his knack for the more unusual jobs, and that he's not scared of anyone. She even knows that Griffin fits the description of the man who killed the Akimbo Assassin, and that he's been seen talking to an older woman named Celia. (Footage of the Akimbo Assassin fight appeared online shortly after it happened. Cass doesn't know who Celia really is.)

The P.A. announces "Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to inform you that we are now in the Atlantic Ocean. The Empire Casino on Deck 2 will be open shortly.


Simon visibly relaxed, as he knew what that meant. Cunard only opened their casinos in international waters, where they don't need a licence! He had finally made it out of British jurisdiction!

He said to Cass, "I think I ought to take a bet. I'm feeling quite lucky tonight!"


Empire Casino, Deck 2...

He went to the roulette wheel, "I'll have five hundred on the first six, please!"

The croupier said "Five on the First Six for the gentleman! No more bets, thank you!" then spun the ball!

Everyone was staring at the wheel, watching it slow down... The ball landed on 2!

The croupier said "2. Black, Even, 1st Dozen. Three thousand dollars to the gentleman!"

"Thank you."

As soon as Simon confirmed that the chips were his, he cashed them and went straight to his stateroom. It was only an Indoor Stateroom, but what else would he expect when he booked it in a hurry and was on the run? Good thing it had a safe that let him choose the code.


A few days later, at the Golden Lion, Deck 2...

The Golden Lion, the only place on board to get a pint.

Someone was on the karaoke, and they were singing "Start spreading the news, we're leaving today..." And nearly everyone else was joining in.


Simon was talking to Cass.

"This'll be my first trip to America, Cass. I swear, I've never been this far away from home before. Furthest I've ever been was the Pyrenees."

"I hadn't been so far away from home, either. Where are you staying?"

"I haven't thought that far yet."

"You seem like a nice sort. You can stay at my place if you like."

"Thank you. Can you write it down for me? I have a few things to get when I arrive, and I can't get them on board."

"I can do that."


As soon as Cass finished writing her address down, everyone was clamouring towards the windows.

Simon said "What's a wooden ship doing this far out?"

Cass said "And how is it keeping up with us? I was outside just five minutes ago, and the wind isn't that strong."


From the window, Cass and Simon see a brief light from the other ship. They both hit the deck in case it was what they feared.

Both Griffin and Ms. Magus roll a DC 10 Perception Test. Griffin gets 12, Ms. Magus gets 25. They both spot the threat!



A cannonball blew that window wide open, catching bystanders with its flying glass!

Cass shouted "Why are they shooting at us for?!"

Simon said "I don't know, but I'm going to kill those bastards for this!"

"I'm coming with you!"

"Can you fight?"

Cass made her hands glow with power, saying "Yeah, I'm good."


Simon was thinking 'I KNEW it! I bloody KNEW it! Better wait until afterwards before mentioning.'


He then said to Cass "Deck 7, port side stern, now!"

"What's there?"

"The nearest area where someone can fly out! If you've got any powers that make you tougher, now would be the time for it. Let's go!"

Cruise Control, Part 2

Deck 7, port side stern, Queen Mary 2, Atlantic Ocean...

Ms. Magus activates her Forcefield en route.



As Simon walked out onto the deck, he pressed a button that shifted the suit he was wearing into a greyish t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms. Much better freedom of movement in a fight. Then he drew Justice.

Blood saw the light of the blade and shouted "Don't you know who you're about to cross blades with?!"

"Enlighten me." Simon sneered.

"I am Captain Blood, scourge of the Atlantic! And who are you to stand in my way?"

Griffin rolls Well-Informed and gets 24. He knows that Captain Blood is said to be cursed to know no rest, not even in death. He raids the Atlantic Ocean looking for artifacts to either bring him back to life or kill him for good, and he doesn't care who else has to die in order to him to do so. He's known to flirt with women and to mouth off at his enemies. Ms. Magus rolls Well-informed and gets 24 as well. She knows the same things as Griffin.



Cass said "My partner is the Griffin."

Simon said "And she's Ms. Magus. We fear no man, and we fear dead men like yourself even less."

Cass and Simon both knew that they were going to have words, but not at the moment.

Griffin Intimidates Blood and gets 19, but Blood is Fearless.



Captain Blood then shouts "You've got quite a tongue on you, lad! And quite the lass as well! Maybe I'll keep them both after I kill you. Board them, men!"

As the pirates swung over, Simon said "Cass, we should do the skeletons first, then go for Blood!"

Cass replied "Got it!"

Simon shouted "God save the Queen!"

Roll Initative! Ms. Magus gets 23. The ten Skeleton Pirate Minions get 22. Griffin gets 7 and Captain Blood gets 6.

Ms. Magus gets 4 HP for being there, her Motivation (People are in danger and she can help.), her Temper (Blood's response implied a fate worse than death if she loses) and for civilians on the field. Griffin gets 4 HP for being there, his Motivation and Temper (Blood's harming innocent people with his raid, so Simon must make him pay for it.) and for civilians on the field. Captain Blood gets 3 HP for being there, his Motivation (He thinks that something on board can either resurrect or kill him) and his reputation (Griffin and Ms. Magus have already caught wise to his style).

They're all using lethal force. Blood's sword can bypass Griffin's Impervious Protection, while both Griffin's Justice and Ms. Magus' Magic can hit Blood.



Five of the skeletons swing wildly at Simon as they come at him. He felt them hit him a few times, but they couldn't really scratch him at all. The other five jump Cass, three of which are swiftly blown away by her spells. Griffin finds it somewhat rough going, and barely smashes one of them to dust.

Blood shouts "Blast that witch! Now!" A loud BOOM, and Cass is hit with at least a 15-pounder! Luckily, her Forcefield held fast.

Ms. Magus rolls to attack and gets a Natural 20. She stunts her Magic into Blast 10, Split 2. She splits it 3/3/4, and attacks three of the pirates. They all fail their Toughness checks with 8, 15 and 6 and are insta-killed.

Two Pirates try a Team Attack on Ms. Magus. They both get Natural 20s, none get through the Forcefield.

5 Pirates try a Team Attack on Griffin. Three hit him with rolls of 18, 18 and 19. But their swords are rusted to the point where Griffin's Impervious gets him out of danger. Griffin draws Justice, attacks one of the pirates as a routine check, and it fails with 13, dying instantly.

6 Pirates remain.

Blood fires the cannon at Ms. Magus and gets 5. He spends a HP to reroll and gets 18. Ms. Magus gets 24 on her toughness and resists. Blood now has 2 HP.



Simon shouts "Cass! Are you all right?!"

"Yeah, I'm fine!" Cass shouted, as she blasted some more skeletons.

Simon decides he's had enough of this and slashes in an arc wide enough to shatter all the skeletons he can.

Blood shouts "That swordsman! Blow him apart!"

Another loud BOOM, and the cannonball whizzed right past Simon's head and into the Atlantic. He's certain that it would have killed him if it connected.

Ms. Magus spends a HP to stunt her Magic into Blast 10, Split 1, splitting it 5/5 and hits them both with 22. They get 15 and 16, and Ms. Magus shatters them both with ease.

4 Pirates attempt to Team Attack Griffin. Only one hits with 20. Griffin's Impervious to their blades.

4 Pirates remain, Ms. Magus has 3 HP left.

Griffin spends a HP to stunt Justice into Strength-based Strike 6 with Multiattack and tries to hit all four Pirates at once. He gets 22, 13, 25 and 25. The Pirates get 14, 13, 5 and 12, and they're all dead.

No Skeletons remain. Griffin: 3 HP.

Blood fires the cannon at Griffin and gets 14. He spends a HP to reroll, and gets 13. He still missed. Blood has one HP left.



Cass blasts Blood, landing a headshot!

Simon sees that he's going to have to board Blood's ship, which is clearly illuminated by the red distress flares which were fired as soon as the crew knew that QM2 was hit. He reveals his wings, shouts "Board 'em, Cass! Board the bastards!" flies over and slashes at Blood from above. Blood expertly dodged the blow. Simon could tell that he's used to people attacking from above. After all, sailors had been boarding from the rigging back when Blood was still alive.

Blood slashes Simon across the cheek, leaving quite a mark!

Ms. Magus blasts Blood and gets 13. She spends a HP to reroll and gets 27. Blood gets 8. He spends his last HP, gets 19 and is hit and Dazed! Blood: 1 Injury, Dazed, 1 HP. Ms. Magus: 2 HP.

Griffin reveals his wings, flies over to Blood and spends a HP for the extra action needed to All-Out Attack him. Griffin gets 27, and Blood resists with a Natural 20. Griffin: 2 HP.

Blood spends his last HP to overcome the Daze, attacks Griffin and gets 30! Griffin rolls 18 and is hit. Griffin: 1 Injury. Blood: 1 Injury, 0 HP.



Cass flies over, spells blazing. Simon touches the fresh wound and says "You call that swordplay, Blood? I call that more of a tickle! A tickle!" Blood strikes at Simon, who manages to parry in time.

Ms. Magus flies the distance, blasts Blood and gets 13. She spends a HP to reroll and gets 22. Blood gets a Natural 20 and resists. Damn, he's lucky! Griffin Taunts Blood and gets 11. He spends a HP to reroll and gets 23. Blood gets 29 and sees through the Taunt. Blood attacks Griffin, and gets 22. Griffin resists with 29. Ms. Magus: 1 HP



Cass starts blasting, but she completely misses Blood.

Griffin clouts Blood right across the jaw! He thought that if Blood still had a body, he'd be spitting teeth after that blow!

As Blood staggers, he shouts "They're on the bloody ship, men! Get them off her! NOW!"

Ms. Magus fires upon Blood (Her Precise Attack means that she won't hit Griffin by accident), and misses with 14. Griffin: 1 HP.

Griffin All-out Attacks Blood and hits with 26. Blood gets 9 and is hit and Staggered! Blood: 2 Injuries, Staggered.



Ten pirates burst out of the main hatch, five after Simon and five after Cass.

The ten Skeleton Pirate Minions get 6 for their Initative. Turn order is now Ms. Magus, Griffin, Pirates, Blood. Griffin and Ms. Magus get an extra HP for suddenly getting reinforcements in their face.



Cass scatters the skeletons with another blast, while Simon gives them a very wide slash.

Ms. Magus spends a HP to stunt her Magic into Blast 10, Split 2. She splits it 4/3/3 and hits with 20. The three skeletons get 3, 11, 11 and are shattered. Griffin All-out Attacks and spends a HP to stunt Justice into Strength-based Strike 6 with Multiattack. He gets Natural 20 (Crit scored, +5 DC), 21, 17, 25 and 14. The Skeletons get 10, 7, 12, Natural 20 and 4.

3 Pirates remain. They decide to Team Attack Griffin, and get 19, 16 and 11. The one that hits him couldn't leave a scratch on him.

Blood manages to Recover, he's no longer Staggered.



Blood shouts "What's the matter, are you landlubbers getting tired?!"

Ms. Magus and Griffin blast and smash a skeleton each as a routine check. The skeletons get 14 and 18, and are destroyed. Blood taunts both Ms. Magus and Griffin, getting 18. Ms. Magus gets 25 and sees through it, but Griffin only gets 10 and is Impaired. 1 Pirate remains.



As Cass disintergrated the last skeleton, Simon shouted "We stop for nothing but victory!" as he slashes Blood in the stomach!

In a desperate move, Blood charges at Simon. Simon moved to the left, leaving Blood in Cass' line of fire!

Ms. Magus attacks the last skeleton as a routine check. The skeleton gets 4 and is shattered. Griffin All-out Attacks Blood, and gets 23. Blood gets 10 and is hit and Staggered! Blood: 3 Injuries, Staggered.

Blood charges at Griffin and hits with 17. Griffin gets 26 and resists.



Cass shouts "It's over, you son of a bitch!" and vapourises Blood!

Ms. Magus blasts Blood and gets 26. Blood gets 14 and is Incapacitated due to taking two Staggering blows! Fight's over!



Simon said "Thanks for that Cass. Blood was good with that sword of his."

All of a sudden, they felt the Black Plunder shake!

As they both flew back to QM2, Cass said "Now then, Griffin. How did you know I'm Ms. Magus?"

"I suspected when we had dinner at the Britannia, I knew it for certain when your hands started glowing. How did you know I was the Griffin?"

"I suspected when you looked relaxed after hearing that we were in international waters. I knew it when I saw your sword. Not many people use them anymore, and those who do often give their blades an extra... edge. And that business with the Akimbo Assassin. I know that was you."

The P.A. announced "Please will the Griffin and Ms. Magus report to the Captain's Office immediately."

This is my 100th post, the one and only Britannia! Lioness of Britain and Defender of the Isles!

She aids Britain in the same way that Lady Liberty aids America, to the point that Adrian Eldrich reckons that their powers come from similar sources. They're both patriotic and their powers are both light-based somehow.

Cruise Control Part 3

Captain's Office, Queen Mary 2, Atlantic Ocean...

Simon was up before the Captain for his role in fending off the attack against QM2.

He said "How did you know who we were, Captain?"

The Captain replied "I follow the supers, Griffin. Now then, what the bloody hell was all that about with those pirates?"

"That ghost was Jonathan 'Bloody Jack' Carver, AKA Captain Blood. Blood's been cursed to know no rest, not even in death. He must have thought that something on board could either give him flesh, blood and bone again or kill him for good. That's why he still haunts the Atlantic. You're lucky that you had two supers on board who could hurt him, or he would have sunk us all! As far as I can tell, that ship he came on sank with all hands lost. Again."

The Captain sighed "To be honest, I'm just glad someone could deal with him. But did you really have to fight?"

"He opened fire without provocation and Ms. Magus and I were the only two people on board who could actually fight back, of course we had to! If he didn't shoot, I would have at least tried to settle the matter politely first. Did anyone die?"

The captain said "Security reports that only those skeletons and that pirate were killed, if that's even possible. Medical reports that several passengers were injured by the cannonball, but I don't know for certain if any of them are long-term. Where's your partner, anyway?"

"Ms. Magus should be at the Medical Centre as we speak, trying to use her magic to help with the people who did get hurt when Blood fired that cannonball."

"Fair enough. What if you were recognised?"

"I'm fine. It's hard to recognise someone when their face is covered in bonedust and ectoplasm! And I was wearing a Morphic Molecule Suit when the fight started. I looked it up, and there's nothing in Cunard policy covering their use before you call me out. I just headed to my stateroom, wiped it off and reset the suit to Elegant Casual. No one had a go on the way here. I have to ask you something, Captain."

"Go on."

"How many people are on board right now?"

"We're at full capacity."

"How many people is that exactly?"

"From the top of my head, a bit under 3,900 people, passengers and crew."

"Then there's about 3,900 people - passengers and crew, yourself included - who should be thankful that Queen Mary's still afloat and just about in a good enough condition to reach New York! If Ms. Magus wants me, I'm going to my stateroom to sleep the sleep of the just. Or the dead. At this point, I don't really care that much."


Simon locked the door to his stateroom, and heard someone clear their throat. He said "Can't it wait? Don't know if you heard or not, but I just helped beat up a pirate ghost who was about to rob and/or sink the ship this evening, and I'm looking forward to a decent kip."

The light turned on and he heard a familiar voice say "Your rest can wait a moment, Simon."

"What in your name are you doing on my bed, Celia?"

"I want to talk to you."

Simon sat on the bed, saying "Fair enough. What's the matter?"

"What do you know about Captain Blood?"

"About as much as everyone else. Ghost pirate, cursed to know no rest in death. Wants nothing more than life or death, and willing to kill innocent people in order to achieve either. It's usually Siren who deals with him when he's loose. No one knows how to get him to stay down for good, or they would have done it by now!"

"True. The next time he's loose, I'll tell you what you need to do to get him to pass on for good."

"I'd really appreciate that. He'll want Cass even more though, as she actually dealt the lethal blow!"

"Yes, he would. Well, you'll be in New York in a couple of days. You won't need to worry about passing Customs. Just remember to declare your money, and you won't get any problems."

"Thank you, my Lady. Well, I need to go to bed now, so I'm afraid I'll see you later."

"Goodnight, Simon."

"Goodnight, my Lady."


The Britannia Restaurant, next morning...

The morning had clear skies and calm winds, which helped calm everyone a little after the cannonball strike.

Simon just finished his fry-up breakfast when Cass turned up, and she didn't seem too pleased. She said "I was looking for you. We need to talk."

"When and where?"

"Thirty minutes, in the Holyrood Suite. Don't make me look for you a second time."

"Understood."


Holyrood Suite...

As Simon walked in, he said "You have quite the taste, Cass! This is one of the Queen's Grill suites, am I right?"

"Yeah."

"Very nice! I've only got an Inside Stateroom."

Cass handed Simon an iPad which was showing a newspaper app.

The headline read "Capital Carnage!" The article talked about the Trafalgar Square fight between the Griffin and Andrew 'Akimbo Assassin' Lee who was wanted by Interpol, AEGIS and the Ministry of Powers for multiple high-profile murders.



She then said "I've heard that you killed the Akimbo Assassin."

"Okay, I admit it. I killed him."

"Why?"

"Self-defence."

"You cut his head off in public!"

"I wasn't aiming to take his head! I was trying to give him the same blow I used to kill a Predator!"

"A Predator? As in the aerial drone?"

"As in the alien species who hunt people! And it was in the middle of a forest, which made it their kind of fight!"

Cass sighed. "Just tell me if you meant to kill Andrew."

"Yeah, I did. I thought that I'd probably be committing an act of very gross negligence if I let him leave Trafalgar Square alive. Even if it meant my own death."

"You were willing to die to stop him?"

"Yeah! Just so you know, I only use lethal force for two reasons."

"What are they?"

"To prevent or avenge a death. You saw me use it against Blood, remember? The amount of damage those cannonballs did, we were lucky that no-one on board got killed!"

"True. Now tell me, what was your opinion of Andrew?"

"Of Andrew? He was a straight-up psychopath with balls as big as your head. He had no regard for life of any sort, and he somehow had less if you were a cop or cape. The fact that he opened fire in a crowded area full of bystanders before fighting me should say it all. He just didn't care! I admit that I have a mental disorder as well, but I don't think that it's excuse enough to risk a civilian's life as carelessly as that!"

"Wait a minute. Did you just say you had a mental disorder?"

"Yes, I did. I'm autistic."

"I didn't know that."

"Don't blame you, Cass. It's not something I mention out loud without good reason."

Ms. Magus rolls on Insight and gets a Natural 20! And Griffin wasn't using Deception. She knows he wasn't lying at all about anything he just told her.


Cass then said "We'll be arriving in New York tomorrow. Have you still got my address?"

"Yeah. I don't want to be without a place to stay in a foreign city."

"I hear you. Well, I'll see you later, I have my stuff to pack."

"And so have I. I'll see you at your place, Cass."


The next morning...

Most of the passengers were on deck as soon as word got out that land was sighted. QM2 was coming up to the Statue of Liberty, and nearly everyone was watching the sunrise.

Simon sees the Statue and he is just awestruck. He's seen the Statues of Liberty in Paris, but this, the most iconic of them all...

Griffin was so wowed by the statue, that he was having a hard time keeping his cool. (DC 15) But he gets 25 on his Will roll and remains stable.


He says in a hushed tone "Oh say, can you see..."

Simon gets 2 PP for besting Blood without civilian deaths. He puts one into removing the Activation flaw on Justice and the other on giving it the AE Storm of Steel: Strength-based Strike 6 with Multiattack and Affects Insubstantial 2. Ms. Magus also gets 2 PP. She puts one into her Will, making it 10. She puts the other one into improving her Expertise: Magic and Insight by 1 rank each, making their bonuses +10 each.

Blackstar was the first and still is the only Star Knight to ever betray the Order. After the Star Knights put him in an asteroid to rot, he managed to contact Omega. Blackstar was given the Shadow Bands, and he used them to escape. Since then, he's fought the current Star Knight on Earth and thrown in with the Crime League.

Of Two Worlds, Part 1

Queen Mary 2, Atlantic Ocean, New York...

Dawn in New York. As Simon laid eyes on the Statue of Liberty, he took a photo of her. He told his brother that he'd say where he went, and this would prove it. All he had to do now, was to get a SIM Card. And he had to wait until he was safely ashore for that. And by the look of it, that wouldn't be long.


When the ship landed, and Simon safely disembarked, the first thing he did was hail a cab.


The cabbie said "Where'd you wanna go, buddy?"

"Do you know Ms. Magus' place, at 4th Avenue and Bay Ridge Avenue? I'm expected."

"You're expected? We'll be there in around 20 minutes. She tends to take a hands-on approach to uninvited guests, you know?"

"I know. I've actually fought alongside her. You see that gaping hole in Queen Mary 2's hull over there? I helped her beat up the ghost who made it!"

"Whoa! You fought a ghost?!"

"Oh yeah! About 4,000 witnesses can't be wrong! Oh, before I forget, do you know where I can get a SIM card for my phone?"

"There's a 24-hour store just around the corner of Ms. Magus' place. You can get a cheap pre-paid SIM in there."

"Perfect."


The Lodge, twenty-five minutes later...

As the cab came to 4th Avenue and Bay Ridge Avenue, Simon noticed that Cass' neighbourhood looked a bit nicer than his own, and all the shops were much nearer. She didn't even need to cross the road if she wanted to take the subway to Manhattan.

After Simon paid the driver and got his hold-all out, he knocked on the door.

When it opened, Simon saw that it was staffed by a mannequin with Cass' face. The mannequin said "What's the matter now?" In Cass' voice.

Simon replied "You certainly looked like flesh and blood the last time I saw you!"

"Oh, this is one of my Mannequin manservants. I'm a bit busy unpacking at the moment, Simon."

"Alright if I come in? I'd already be inside, but I heard that it's a bad idea to enter a magician's house without their invitation."

"Sure, the Mannequin will take you to your room. All of the Mannequins in my house are enchanted. I use them as manservants and as the intercom system. They'll all make a sound and glow red if I need to speak to you. Just touch the nearest one or verbally address it to open the connection."

"Got it."


An hour later...

While Simon was in his room, he sent a message to his brother, Tom.

The message was the photo of the Statue of Liberty he took earlier, with the words "Guess where I am now?"



All of a sudden, the Lodge shook! A Mannequin walked into Simon's room, and it was glowing red. Simon said "Yeah, Cass?"

The Mannequin said in Cass' voice: "Simon, get over to the basement now, we've got a problem! The entrance is under the first floor staircase. You need to see this for yourself!"

"I'm on my way, Cass!"


Two minutes later...

When Simon made it to the basement, he was surprised at what he saw.

Ponies. Six of various colours. And given how they were positioned, they certainly expected to be somewhere else. A purple unicorn was the first to break the silence. "Where... where are we?"

Cass said "This world is called Earth. How did you get here?"

The unicorn said "I was trying to cast a mass teleport spell to go to our Princess, and it seems that I... miscalculated."

A blue pegasus with a rainbow-coloured mane said "Miscalculated?! I don't think even Celestia knows where we are, Twilight!"

Cass cleared her throat and said "I'm Cass, and this is Simon. Tell me, what are your names?"

The purple unicorn said "I'm Twilight Sparkle, but you can call me Twilight."

The blue pegasus went "And I'm Rainbow Dash!"

An orange pony said in a Southern accent "I'm Applejack."

A white unicorn said "I am Rarity. How do you do?"

A pink pony bounced over and said "And I'm Pinkie Pie! But you can call me Pinkie!"

Simon said "And who's that over there?" pointing to a yellow pegasus who's looking seriously freaked out.

Twilight said "That's Fluttershy. Be careful with her, please."


Simon walks over to Fluttershy and says "Fluttershy, I know that it's hard being somewhere you don't want to be. But I assure you, I mean you no harm."

"Really?"

"Absolutely." He then extended his arm, saying "Come on, I'll look after you while you're here."

"Okay."

Griffin gets a HP for successfully getting Fluttershy to open up.



Twilight said "I guess I'll have to make the portal to get us back."

"Not quite," Cass replied. "As you've landed in a magician's house. I can help you get back home. I have most of the stuff needed to make a portal, but I need to concentrate in order to make it work. And having six ponies in the house will make it much harder."

"I can help with the concentration problem," Simon said. "Fluttershy, Rainbow, please take to the air at about my shoulder height. Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie, Twilight, stay close. We're going out."

Cass said "You're taking them outside?"

"Yeah," Simon replied. "You get the ponies out of your hair long enough to get the portal sorted out, and they get to see a whole new world!"

"I'll... stay here to help with the spell." Twilight said.

Cass said "Yeah, having a native of the destination would help make it much easier to calibrate the portal. Simon, you should take the R Train on the Subway around the corner to get to where I know you're taking the ponies. It takes about a hour, each way."

"Thanks, Cass. Now then, who wants a trip to the city?"

All the ponies except Twilight put their hooves up.

"Let's go, then!"

Of Two Worlds, Part 2

As Simon and the ponies went down the stairs to the subway station at Bay Ridge Avenue, Rarity said "I have to ask you something, Simon."

"Go on."

"Are you sure we'll be fine? It's not like we can," Rarity shuddered "Blend in."

"In this city? The amount of stuff that happens around here, most people won't bother you if you're not hurting anyone or breaking the law. I'm here in case someone does bother you without good cause. Stay there, I have to get the subway tickets. Rainbow, Fluttershy, could you land now, please?"

Rainbow Dash said "Land?! Why?"

"The ticket gates around here either have a pressure-sensitive floor to make sure you've actually walked through them or they go from the floor to the ceiling. And since it's against the law to go through or around such gates without paying..."

"Yeah, yeah, I get it."

"You can take to the air when we leave the other station."


After Simon got the Metrocards, he led the girls through the luggage gate one at a time. (He reckoned that a wider gate would be more comfortable for them.)

As the train arrived on the other platform, Pinkie said "They have underground trains here?!"

Simon said "Yes, we do. They're the best way to get a train service working inside a major city. The subway around here has been around for at least a century."

Rainbow then said "How do you get rid of all the steam and smoke?"

Simon told her "Modern subway trains are electrically powered, usually by a third rail on the line that's electrified. No smoke or steam in the first place. You still need to sort out ventilation, though. Now, the next train in our direction will be here soon."


50 minutes later...

As the train stopped, Simon said "This is our stop, ladies. Follow me."

When he got the girls out of the station, he said "Here we are. Times Square, Manhattan!"

Rarity said "Sweet Celestia, look at all the fashion here!"

Applejack said "Manhattan?! Don't you mean Manehattan?"

"Is that what they call it where you're from?"

Applejack nodded.

"You forget that you're in another world. And you should learn that our ways might not be the same as yours. In fact, I always make a point of learning the local customs when I go to another country. Mainly as some things that would be polite in one country can be considered rude if not outright insults in another. You know what else people call this city, Applejack?"

AJ shook her head.

Simon continued "It's also called the Big Apple!"

Applejack's face was all O_o.

"It's true! Now then. We're headed this way, ladies. Toward Broadway and Central Park."


As Simon and the girls headed towards Broadway and West 52nd, Rarity saw a news-stand. She said "Have you got any fashion magazines, sir? Down here, sir!"

The newsagent exclaimed "An unicorn?! And two pegasuses? What's going on?!"

Before Pinkie could open her mouth, Simon said "Excuse me, but I can help. I'm their guide, sir. I'm making sure that these ponies can have a safe tour of the city before they go back to their world. I'll have a copy of Vogue for Ms. Rarity and a Mountain Dew for myself."

"That'll be thirteen bucks."

"Here you go."


30 minutes later...

"Here we are. Central Park!"

Rarity said "How did they put so much grass in this city?"

"More than a century ago, this park used to be the slum district. The district was demolished to make way for the park. Everyone who owned property here was given enough money to find somewhere else to live. Today, the buildings closest to the park are now the most expensive in the city."

"From rags to riches! I love it!"

Complications
Pony: Ponies lack hands. This causes the problems one expects it to but the ponies in MLP can work around this limitation (such as holding a pencil in their mouth to write which they are perfectly able to do). Still, even basic things like holding onto an object while moving can be fairly tricky in some situations and usually requires them to hold it in their mouth (limiting speech) or balancing the object on their backs (saddle bags/baskets are almost always involved if there is an object to be carried). Shining Armour has an advantage in this case as his magic almost completely replaces the need for hands (though he doesn't tend to sustain his magic for long periods so he still needs/uses saddlebags)
Relationship: With his wife, Princess Cadence and with his sister, Twilight Sparkle.
Vulnerability: If Shining Armour's horn is hit, he must make a Will Save or immediately drop any magic he's using. (DC is that of the attack which struck the horn)
