For some reason, I had a flashback to the mid-1990s, when a TV critic was writing about Star Trek: Voyager. He described Tuvok as "the African-American Vulcan." :D

SCC, thanks for the 4E builds. Your efforts, and those of Prodigy Duck, allow me to routinely demonstrate the inferiority of current D&D to M&M/DCA. Keep up the great work.

Thx Geekery. As far as I know they don't have St. Cuthbert for Fourth Edition. And Thorp their is a lot of cool stuff in Fourth Edition even if you don't like the system. The Dragon of Tyr is the most powerful I built, which it should be since it is a Level 33 solo monster.

Defensively it is PL 6 due to Dodge/Parry and it's Necrotic Protection. A Flesh Seeker likes to hide in the shadows whether on the battlefield or stalking the streets wearing heavy robes. It targets lone opponents using Prepare for Sacrifice to grapple and pin it's foe to the ground. Then it uses Render unto Orcus to kill the opponent as a sacrifice to the demon lord.

Not sure how legal that Feature I gave to the Ghoul Flesh Seeker. It allows him to do damage, grab, and trip an opponent without suffering a circumstance penalty. Well if I made a linked affliction for being knocked prone it wouldn't be any more expensive.

I know the scales between systems are different, but only Strength 4 for a Frost Giant?!?!? That seems really low, but that 800 lb. lifting does make it more line for a lot of D&D brick characters, I suppose.

I agree. It's strength is only 19 and Fourth Edition monsters do not get any bonus from size besides reach and how much space they take up, which is a disadvantage actually. I don't think they are thinking too much when they give a strength score. My Dragon only has 7 strength. But to let you know some Frost Giants do have higher strength.

Design Notes
This is a D&D Fourth Edition Thoon Hulk. It appeared in Monster Manual 3. Offensively it is PL 14.5 when it uses Eviscerate against grappled foes. Defensively it is PL 10.5 due to it's Will and Fortitude. Illithids are known to perform vile experiments on captives, but they also do it to their own kind. A Thoon Hulk is a product of generations of psychic and alchemical enhancements. It produces a creature with it's powers enhanced, mind dulled, with a body pushed to the limits of physical endurance. It is loyal to it's master but the transformation has pushed to the brink of insanity. It use Mind Blast to daze it's foes then uses Eviscerate to finish them off. It uses Call of Thoon to bring ranged attackers closer. It's insanity has given it a better understanding of what Thoon is.

Design Notes
This is a D&D Fourth Edition Dread Guardian. It appeared in Monster Manual 3. Offensively it is PL 8 due to Iron Rebuke. Defensively it is PL 6 due to it's Will and Fortitude. It has an unbreakable bond with it's master. Powerful necromancers and priests will use them as minions. They can hide behind them and use their dark powers without fear thanks to the Dread Guardian's Shield of Undeath. A Dread Guardian will quickly pounce on any opponent who threatens it's master.

More nice stuff, scc. I do wonder if the Dread Guardian should have a little higher toughness, though. Maybe it's just my old D&D mind talking, but I seem to recall having a hard time putting one of these down. And I would think they might use Interpose, even with their Shield of Undeath.

Looking at the pic you would definitely thin so. But in MM3 with his HP being 81 and AC being 10(3 natural +7 scale armor) actually gives it 6 toughness using my conversion method. Of course you can always increase it. This is just the average Dread Guardian. As far as interpose I could see it. I could see it the other way to that it isn't smart enough to react to protect it's master. Though it will definitely put a beatdown on whoever did. Just FYI I have been using the scale for strength using D&D 3.5 and M&M 2nd Edition. I didn't realize monsters are actually weaker than that. The scale in D&D 4th has a light load of 10 times strength and a heavy of 20 times strength(Which is also the max). Works for lower strengths but once you get above 20 it is really off. By off I mean weaker. I will continue to use the old scale for conversions for strength.

My 50th build is coming up. It will be a very powerful demon lord. After that I will probably start doing other builds and updating some of my D&D builds. You learn a lot as you make builds. Once more monster manuals come out for Fourth Edition I am sure I will build more. My comic book builds will be on J Mart. You have been warned Thorp.
