Builds, builds, builds! (2e, yo!)

Post by Insurgent Phoenix » Tue Nov 23, 2010 5:14 pm

Yo.

Herein I shall post builds, both original and otherwise. To specify: I am a 2e fanatic. It's not that 3e isn't cool---it is VERY cool---it's just that I'm a sentimental bastard, and 2e is my system of choice.

Builds I am planning:

Original builds:
[][]The 9 Houses of Sol:
A sci-fi/supers setting so far in the future that EVERYONE has a superpower. Definitely more super than sci-fi, however.
[]Setting:
---A big list of setting-specific terminology
---The various galaxy-wide culturegroups
---A rough timeline of major events.
---Human templates.
---Xenobreed and xenomix templates.
---Golem and cygolem templates.
---Interesting facts and minutae.
[]NPCs:
For the House of Gaea:
---Antaeus the Unbound <Gaea's immensely stupid-but-loyal son, capable of annihilating entire worlds.>
---Gaea, herself <The co-dictator of the Plutocracy of the Inward Flesh and the patron "saint" of the entire House of Gaea.>
---Oroborus, the Skyfather <The co-dictator of the Plutocracy of the Inward Flesh and husband of Gaea.>
For the House of Jupiter:
---The Gardener of Souls <Deus ex machina.>
For the House of Mars:
---Azrael Orange <The one and only paragon of this universe. A Free Mars rebel.>
---Primal Sttel <A Martian Cogitator that has betrayed his Guild in favor of a Free Mars.>
For the House of Mercury:
---Kaede upManglahv of the 77 Singularities <A ra-Eeeg stripped of most of his power by his angry Eeeg patron.>
For the House of Neptune:
For the Nothinghouse of Pluto:
---Karey Jaspers <An anti-Tesseract terrorist with a deadly secret.>
For the House of Saturn:
For the House of Sol:
---Azrael Red (PL11/110pp.) <He is the prince-consrt of Raphael Blue, as well as his loyal bodyguard and friend.>
---Raphael Blue <A mighty marshal-prince of the House of Sol.>
For the House of Uranus:
For the House of Venus:
For those without a House:
---Diiesh the Nomad <A Firewrought Guildsman and one of Praetor's 4 heralds.>
Xenos:
---Eeeg Gahnh Rah'heend <One of the almighty Eeeg xenogods.>
---Praetor
Other-dimensional entities:
---The anti-essences [template] <Horrors from the universe known as the Mirror.>
---Lokol <The "king" of the anti-essences, and the only anti-essence to remain in our universe.>
[]Technology of the 9 Houses of Sol:
---Eeeg tech
---Human tech
---Xeno tech

[][]The Iron Gods:
A high fantasy/supers setting, located in a world so odd as to be mind-bending. Here, magic takes the form of Gifts (common superpowers), Oddities (very strange one-off powers), Sparks (very rare powers [such as psionics or form-shifting]) and Tokens (magical Devices and Gadgets). This is NOT Tolkienized fantasy, though---no, it's a tad bit weirder than all that.
[]Setting Info:
---World overview
---The races of the sphere
---An overview on all things sorcerous
----Superpowers, Irongods-style.
[]NPCs:
Angels:
---The 16 Angel-Princes, the gods of the nameless sphere.
Demons:
---The Four Archdevils, the highest lieutenants of Sammael.
Human:
----Maekarios (PL10/124pp.) Knight-Captain of the Innerwerk Guard.>

•The Triluminary: A tri-universe mini-multiverse, one world of which is D&D-style fantasy, one of which is Sci-Fi post-apocalypse, and the third is a fantasy-themed supers world.
••Triluminary World One: Overseen by Trilumin A. A supers setting, set on a parallel Earth invaded several decades ago by feuding armies of elves and giants. Superhumans are either aliens from outer space, elves, giant or the half-human offspring of the three above-mentioned races.
••Triluminary World Two: Overseen by Trilumin B. A D&D-style setting, involving three magically-connected worlds: Zjine (second from its sun), Vianvuin (third from its sun) and Eversun (fourth for its sun),
••Triluminary World Three: Overseen by Trilumin C. he Sci-Fi post-apocalypse world of Rustgoddess, inhabited by heroic Tempestineers and villainous Arconauts.

*The Spiral of Heroes: A superhero multiverse,
**Earth-BACCHUSISINSIDEUS: Aesaru,
**Earth-GOLDEN: The Cloak!

Misc. Stuff That Doesn't Fit Elsewhere:
Caspian Montrose.
Melek Tawuse, "god" of Yazidism,

MUCH more to come! I'll post what I can, now.

A note concerning Lord Blue's Luminescaneen powers:
Whenever Raphael is subject to temporal effects (a VERY common descriptor in this universe, thanks to abundant time-tech), psionic walls in his mind open up and prevent any chronal deviation. As a side-effect, Raphael experiences a huge variety of "possible futures", which enables him to know things about people he normally shouldn't---i.e., Telepathy.

-----

It is a glorious thing to be a marshal-prince of the House of Sol. Given authority over the Xeepke hordes, Raphael Blue possesses staggering power, politically, militarily and personally. No one expected his Blueseed Womb-Immersion to make Raphael so potent, but nevertheless, what went into the Womb was a mere boy----what came out was a new god.

Born of DV Keen DV a88y's prime minister and a low-born dockworker, no one expected much from Raphael. But again and again the boy surprised and dismayed his tutors with his ever-accelerating learning and education.

Suspicious, Raphael's father ordered a genecode test....and the results were stunning. As a DvDee Luminescaneen, Raphael was already born with stunning potential, but also he was perfect for Womb-Immersion. Sparing no expense, Prime Minister Echtho Blue ensured his darling son met with the best Blueseed experts.

Now thrumming with power, Raphael's new status quickly reached the ears of the Corpselords, who arrived in their dirge-arks to take the young godling away. Even now, Raphael proved an adept student, abosrbing everything the Golhagga monk-lords could teach him. The Corpsestars became Raphael's second home. (A dismal home, yes, but home nonetheless.)

But then space/time suffered a partial collapse, and the apocalyptic Golhagga Inversion was at hand. Anti-essences from the Mirror came screaming through the great rift in reality, and the Golhagga, sadly, were wiped out entirely. Fleeing for his life, Raphael returned to the House of Sol to raise the alarm.

Over 20 Terran years later, the anti-essences were now ready to leave the Corpsestars and feast on the rest of civilization----but they found the cmbined might of the Houses of Sol and Mars waiting for them. The resulting war brutally dragged on for 2 centuries, with no end in sight. Fighting to avenge his beloved mentors, Raphael led attack after attack into anti-essence territory, destroying everything he and his soldiers could find and then hauling ass back to safe grounds.

Then came the Gardener of Souls, and everything came to a halt. A superhuman of nearly infinite power and connected to the anti-essences' home dimension AND one with the Godmesh, the Gardener downloaded a daemon-code into the entire enemy force, driving them into a self-destructive frenzy.

But Raphael knew the Gardener's actions would only be temporary, and the war would resume. Banking everything on a desperate gamble, Raphael led 90% of the entire Martian House's cmbined space-fleets on a
daring, nearly suicidal assault on the Mirror itself. Planting solaris warheads at the Mirror's 4 dimensional Foldpoints, Raphael brought the entire foreign dimension crashing down around him.

In a fearful panic, the anti-essences rushed back home, in a mad bid to stop the destruction of their pwer-source, but they found Raphael's uber-fleet waiting and ready. Known as the Battle of the Crumbling Reflections, this mega-shootout resulted in the destruction of 60% of the anti-essence "race" and the release of every single Golhagga soul-pattern. The anti-essences were now a broken people, bereft of a home as well as their heritary powers----99% of which depended on the Mirror's existence.

But the anti-essences had a leader, a "king" if you will, a noetic behemoth named Lokol. Harboring a copy of the Mirror inside itself, Lokol's powers did not fade. However, Lokol could not re-empower his people, and so he alone retained his vast might. Enraged at this humiliation, Lokol confronted Raphael, and defeated him. Taking him hostage, Lokol fled to a far-off region of realspace and prepared for the delirious and debilitating process of inserting his soul into Raphael's body.

After being rescued by Azrael Red (a story to be found in Azrael Red's writeup), Raphael took 3 years' medical leave to recover from the heinous wounds Lokol inflicted upon him. Arriving on the peace-loving hosptial-planet of Yden, accompanied by his new bodyguard, over those 3 years, Raphael and Azrael fell in love. But such bliss was doomed to never know a day of peace. 4 days after arriving on Yden, Old Earth suffered a massive ecological and economic meltdown.

A Big-Ass List of Setting Terminology:
+]aYayan (xenobreed): (Plural aYayoi) The aYayoi are a xenobreed that is noted for its friendliness and diplomatic guile. Humanity and aYayoi have been the staunchest of allies for many millennia. Avian-like, the aYayoi are the 2nd-most-common recipients of Grafting and Womb-Immersion.
+]Blackseed: A type of Seed used by the Eeeg; it is a vastly adaptable Seed, and can be used on virtually any sentient species, synthetic or biological.
+]Blackearth: The ultimate form of Womb, used only by the Eeeg.
+]Blueseed: Seeds unique to the Human genome.
+]Blueseed Womb: A Tesseract device for the implantation of Blueseeds.
+]Cogitation Guilds: Guilds focusing on all matters noetic. Many Human offshoots refuse to deal with these traders.
+]cygolems: Cyborgs, basically. No special term is used to refer to xeno cygolems.
+]Eeeg (xenobreed): A race of all-powerful energy-manipulating xenos, the Eeeg are above all others. Each Eeeg is able to annihilate entire Houses. 13 Eeeg dwell inside the Milky Way Galaxy; 2 more dwell inside a single super-massive singularity in the galaxy's center; and 6 more dwell just beyond Orion's Arm, out amidst the Corpsestars.
+]Fireband: Noetic technology, primarily used by non-House Humanity. Capable of a wide variety of psychic effects.
+]Firewrought Guild: A Heavenfleet-wide Guild devoted to enforcing law out in the frontier of space. Led by a xeno named Praetor, these Guildsmen know no fear, and wield exotic xenotech weaponry.
+]ghost: A downloaded copy of a Human mind, which may dwell indefinitely in the Godmesh, or else be implanted in a new Human body.
+]Godmesh: Virtual Reality. Based entirely on Tesseract science, the galaxy-wide Godmesh has provided the key to Human immortality.
+]golems: Sentient robots. Not all golems are of Human manufacture; xenogolems DO exist.
+]Grafts: A Tesseract technique wherein baseline Humans can be gifted with minor superhuman ability.
+]Guilds: Vast coporate concerns that've taken up the maintenance of certain vital necessities.
+]Heavenfleets: 22 vast, nomadic Human starnations; viewed the same way Gypsies were viewed in medieval Europe. Most follow the tenets of Neo-Christianity or ur-Islam.
+]Hellfleets: 6 vast, nomadic Human starnations; raiders, slavers, pirates and trouble-makers, all. The bane of the star-lanes; hated by virtually everyone.
+]House: A series of 9 Human meta-civilizations that share broad similarities between individual starnations in said House. Not all Humans belong to a House.
+]noetics: Psionics, basically. The source of almost all superpowers. Only the Eeeg have truly mastered noetics and noetic science.
+]noetic science: The study of noetic powers.
+]N-seed: So-called "natural" superhumans. T be N-seed gene-positive is a rarity almost beyond measure. No xenobreeds have ever demonstrated the N-seed, though fully Seeded xenos certainly do exist.
+]Phenotype: A very specific category of genemodded Humanity. Tends to be very narrowly focused, and carries with it few superhuman qualities.
+]ra-Eeeg: "Lesser" species altered by an Eeeg for whatever inscrutable reasons. Considered pariahs amongst most Houses. Many ra-Eeeg possess nigh-cosmic power.
+]Redseed: A type of Seed used by synthetic lifeforms, such as clones and golems.
+]Redseed Womb: A Tesseract device for the implantation of Redseeds.
+]Seeds: A type of Eeeg genetechnology that produces unique superbeings, as opposed to the rather generic nature of 99% of Humanity.
+]sept: A Human lineage; usually genetically similar and of a single House. Septs are further subdivided into tribes.
+]Species-Clade: Much like Pehnotype, but considerably broader in scope and application.
+]Tesseract-tech: The technology of the Eeeg xenobreed.
+]xenobreeds: Aliens, basically. Foreign to the Human condition, most xenobreeds ignore Humanity; Humanity, on average, is content to return the favor.
+]xenogolems: Sentient robots built via xenotech.
+]xenomix: A Human/xenobreed hybrid. Only createable via Tesseract bioengineering.

THE 9 HOUSES OF MAN:
The 9 meta-nations, or Houses, of the various branches of Humanity. With the exception of the Nothinghouse of Pluto, all Humans have some degree of superpowers.

CULTUREGROUP: The House of Gaea, 7 of the 22 Heavenfleets
LOCATION: Orion's Arm, Milky Way Galaxy
POPULATION: 100% Human
MAIN STARNATIONS: The Plutocracy of the Inward Flesh (homeworld: xX88 alphaRed); the Animak Zealotry (homeworld: An 1 Mkk)
THEME: Genetic engineering taking to its logical conclusion

CULTUREGROUP: The House of Hera
LOCATION: Entirely within the Godmesg, outside physical reality itself
POPULATION: 99% xenobreeds, 1 % Humans
MAIN STARNATIONS: Only one, the Multiplicity of the Chained
THEME: Humans turned evil; oppressioon of xenos by Human tyrants

CULTUREGROUP: The House of Jupiter
LOCATION: Entirely within the Godmesh, outside of physical reality itself
POPULATION: 40% Human, 60% golems/cygolems
MAIN STARNATIONS: None that dominate the others; most Jupiterean starnations're very small and are
very culturally insular
THEME: VR, on a cosmic scale

CULTUREGROUP: The House of Luna
LOCATION: Scattered throughout the solar systems nearest Old Earth, this House is easily the smallest; Milky Way Galaxy
POPULATION: 30% Human, 30% xenobreeds, 40% xenomix
MAIN STARNATIONS: Luna (homeworld: Old Luna); the Sisterhood of Vlayne (homeworld: A-0ooN); the
Matriarchy of the Consolidated Republics (homeworld: Centauri)
THEME: Tradition and cultural stasis

CULTUREGROUP: The now-conquered House of Mars
LOCATION: Orion's Arm, Milky Way Galaxy
POPULATION: 60% Human, 30% golems, 9% cygolems, 1% xenobreeds
MAIN STARNATIONS: n/a (all have been conquered by the House of Sol's Machinator Array; still culturally Martian by way of simple cultural stasis)
THEME: Fight the oppressors! Free the House of Mars!

CULTUREGROUP: The Nothinghouse of Pluto
LOCATION: Beyond the galactic rim, among the Corpsestars
POPULATION: 99% baseline Homo sapiens sapiens (yes, regular Humanity!), 1% xenobreeds
MAIN STARNATIONS: just one, which is the Starfarer Alliance
THEME: A throwback to the religious and superstitious hatreds of the distant past; also xenophobia

CULTUREGROUP: The House of Sol
LOCATION: Orion's Arm, Milky Way Galaxy
POPULATION: 90% Human, 5% xenobreeds, 4% golem, 1% Eeeg
MAIN STARNATIONS: DV Keen DV a88y (homeworld: DVDearDVKan); Holy Terran Unity (homeworld: Old Earth); the Machinator Array (homeworld: n/a; shares political power with its House of Zeus counterparts)
THEME: Noetic supremacy

CULTUREGROUP: The House of Uranus.
LOCATION: The Zhielhiulu Nebula.
POPULATION: 98% human, 2% xeno.
MAIN STARNATIONS: The Slaughterer of Beasts (homeworld: Meseseshkt).
THEME: Time to go a'Viking!

CULTUREGROUP: The House of Venus AND the Eeeg Territory
LOCATION: The galactic core, Milky Way Galaxy
POPULATION: 80% Human, 18% ra-Eeeg, 1% xenobreeds, 1% cygolems
MAIN STARNATIONS: The Domain (THE Eeeg starnation); the Legitimate Collective of the Venusian Multitudes (homeworld: Old Venus); Ra Can-eeeg (the one and oonly ra-Eeeg starnation)
THEME: Excellence in all things, as well as rabid multiculturalism

CULTUREGROUP: The House of Zeus
LOCATION: The galactic core, Milky Way Galaxy
POPULATION: 50% Human, 20% cygolems, 30% golems
MAIN STARNATIONS: The Machinator Array (homeworld: n/a; shares power with their House of Sol counterparts); the Individual Meritocracy (homeworld: X0A0omega)
THEME: Hardtech, hardtech, hardtech!

BEYOND THE HOUSES:
Though the Houses make up 70% of all Humanity, that still leaves 30% outside the fold, left to their own devices. Known derogitively as "Commoners", these non-House Humans still number in the trillions. While none have the power to harm any of the Houses, it would be excessively foolish to discount them entirely.

You've got a lot of background here, and I like the way you're laying out this setting here. You've got a huge world outline already!

Um, thanks. I'm interested in gay-friendly fiction, and the settings I design tend to be very gay-friendly. As you might imagine, Azrael and Raphael have been a couple for a VERY long time, in-setting.

INTERESTING FACTS CONCERNING THE 9 HOUSES OF SOL:
Fashion and lifestyles:
+]Gender-switches are so easily accomplished that virtually everyone has "seen how the other side lives." Because of this, homophobia has drained away to virtually nothing.
Languages:
+]No such thing as a common language exists. Instead, over 68 million tongues languages abound. Old Earth English is the closest thing to Common, but even it is only spoken by 5% of the total Human population.
Moneymoneymoney!:
+]Many starnations are post-scarcity economies, thanks to VERY abundant Tesseract nanoassemblers. As a result, money is a bit of an oddity; wealth is instead determined via reputation and influence with specific cultures.
Religion and philosophy:
+]For the most part, religion is dying off. The Heavenfleets are a very notable exception.
+]The three big remaining Human religions are Big House Wicca, Neo-Christianity, and ur-Islam.
+]Big House Wicca is today's neo-paganism all grown up and ready to act. As no one believes in magic anymore, Wiccans instead preach of memetic machine-gods and prayer-generated noesis.
Superpowers:
+]Humanity is THE race of superbeings; after 13 millennia of Eeeg interference, 99% of all Human beings possess at very least a generic set of powers based on heritage. 20% of Humanity have been further altered, usually by some method of Tesseract tech.
+]Eeeg are the only "natural" race of superbeings. Note, however, nothing prevents an Eeeg from bestowing ra-Eeeg status on one of his kinsmen, nor does anything prevent Eeeg frm being Womb-Immersed. Like DC's Guardians of the Universe who never use their Green Lantern power-rings, the Eeeg have a strange cultural reluctance to directly tap such abilities.

EEEG TECH:
The godlike Eeeg have enormous personal power, naturally, but their science and technology is what truly makes them gods. Wielding almighty Seeds, piloting reality-shredding Kon-arks, wearing nigh-omnipotent Kon-skins; when Eeeg invent, they invent BIG. To quote a certain famous science-fiction writer, "Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." And with the Eeeg, that quote is absolutely accurate.

Crowns:
An "everyday" Eeeg Device, Crowns bestow protective abilities upon their wearers.
Device +3 (Easy to Lose; Feats: Restricted x2 [Eeeg and ra-Eeeg only])
Powers:
Features +2 (heat/cold tolerance, temporal inertia)
Impervious Toughness +10
+]AP: Impervious Fortitude +10
+]AP: Impervious Reflex +10
+]AP: Impervious Will +10

Kon-skins:
Named after Eeeg Kon Duruir, greatest Eeeg noetic scientist, Kon-skins are another example of an Eeeg "toy." Despite this item's staggering power, it is but a minor thing to the Eeeg, who have far greater wonders at their disposal:
Device +10 (Hard to Lose; Feats: Indestructible, Restricted x1 [Eeeg and ra-Eeeg only])
Powers:
Cosmic Energy Control +4
+]Base: Blast +4
+]AP: Astral Form +1 (Flaws: Tiring)
+]AP: Invulnerable Fortitude +8
Variable Power +5 (any number of traits at once of the "noetic" descriptor)

Orbs:
Orbs are generic "everyday" items used by Eeeg. Orbs possess picoweave molecular machines capable of generating a massive telepathic aura useable by the Eeeg in a variety of ways. Most Eeeg never go anywhere without their Orb.
Device +8 (Easy to Lose; Feats: Restricted x2 [Eeeg and ra-Eeeg only])
Powers:
Illusion +5 (all five senses; Flaws: Check Required [Concentration])
+]AP: Astral Form +5
+]AP: Force Constructs +10
+]AP: Mind Shield +10 (Extras: Area x2 [burst, cloud])
Super-Senses +1 (noetic awareness)
Telepathy +5 (Extras: Area [cloud])

Rings:
Another generic "everyday" Eeeg Device, Rings break down the language barrier---with everything, even energy and inert matter.
Device +1 (Hard to Use; Feats: Restricted x2 [Eeeg and ra-Eeeg only])
Powers:
Enhanced Skills: Diplomacy +16
Enhanced Feats +4 (Animal Empathy, Energy Empathy, Matter Empathy, Plant Empathy)
Communication +3 (mental; languages-all, animals-all, plants-all)

Seeds:
ALL Seeds, at the baseline, operate as Keys to various Eeeg powers; Eeeg just know how to use a Seed in ways no non-Eeeg could even fathom.
ALL Seeds grant their Eeeg owners Super-Senses +X (Seed Awareness and Seed Detection), allowing them to track Seeds even through the manifold trails of space/time.
ALL Seeds have the Indestructible feat.
ALL Seeds have the Contagious Flaw and Triggered feat, as follows: Disease +8 (Feats: Triggered [when anyone but an Eeeg or a ra-Eeeg attempt to reverse-eingeer the Seed]; Flaws: Contagious)
Now, let's break down the Seeds by type, shall we?
[]-[]
Blackseeds:
Device +5 (Easy to Lose; Feats: Restricted x2 [Eeeg only]; Flaws: Key [a ra-Eeeg must be present to help channel the Blackseed's energy])
Powers:
Communication Link +10 (other Seed-bearers)
Enhanced Skill: Crafts (mechanical) +2, Knowledge (noetics) +10, Knowledge (technology) +4
Super-Movement +4 (dimensional movement +2 [the Godmesh, as well as the World of the Eeeg], temporal movement +2 [Godmesh retroscapes, plus from the present day to the Day of Foundation])
Super-Senses +8 (precognition, postcognition; Flaws: Key [must be connected to the Godmesh])

Blueseeds:
Device +1 (Easy to Lose; Feats: Restricted x1 [only the Eeeg and those touched by the Eeeg (i.e., ra-Eeeg and superhumanity)])
Powers:
+]Immunity +1 (aging)
+]Super-Movement +2 (dimensional movement +1 [the Godmesh]; temporal movement +1 [Godmesh retroscapes])

Redseeds:
Device +2 (Easy to Lose; Feats: Restricted x1 [only the Eeeg and Eeeg-constructed golems])
Powers:
+]Datalink +10 (Flaws: Limited [only works on golems])

Crazy stuff. You have a talent for coining interesting phrases and word pictures. Corpsestar? Heavenfleet? I want to learn more.

I am wondering what play would be like in this setting. No wealth, no homophobia or racism, etc.... who are the bad guys and what do they do?
