Abilities 56 + Skills 24 (48 ranks) + Advantages 19 + Powers 34 + Defenses 13 = 146 / 146

Comments: So as I read more of Night of the Owls, I see that Mary and William are not the only Talons that have been named or have an interesting backstory. Henry Ballard was the Talon that tangled with the Birds of Prey during Night of the Owls. He was apparently the Talon of 1847 and remembered Gotham as a violent place and apparently he still sees it that way as he felt the need to rid the streets of the “strumpets” in Birds of Prey.

And he was bad ass. He had Katana, Black Canary and Starling all on the ropes until Batgirl saved them. The thing I liked about him was that he didn’t use the blades and such that the other Talons have done. He was all bare handed brawling and he took a ton of damage so I made him even tougher than Cobb and even gave him Withstand Damage since he took a full on Canary Cry and just popped back up and kept whooping ass.

Again, if you are not reading Batman, shame on you. The truly great part of this is that Scott Snyder has made these indestructible killers almost sympathetic figures (well, most of them anyway). He usually tells why they were picked to kill certain people that night and in most cases, you almost feel as bad for the Talon as you do for the victim. Being taken as children, tortured to the point of breaking, then being put down because you have outlived your usefulness only to be awoken again as something not quite human...not pretty stuff.

More Talons to come as I get through more of Night of the Owls.

Question: Reaching back to Antient Egypt, there's been a single cabal of powerful individuals directing the course of human history. But the common man prefers to believe they don't exist, which aides their success.
Supergirl: Global warming? Military upheavels in the Third World? Actors elected to public office?
Green Arrow: The spread of coffee bars? Germs outpacing antibiotics? And boy bands? C'mon, who would gain from all this?
Question: Who indeed?

THE QUESTION

Abilities 64 + Skills 53 (106 ranks) + Advantages 21 + Powers 6 + Defenses 21 = 165 / 165

Comments: JLUs biggest breakout star during it’s first season, The Question. And as much as I love Montoya (who will be in the Thorpacoverse as a Gotham cop), Vic is my Question. He’s still working the streets of Hub City and working with the Justice League from time to time, along with generally being a pain in the ass to the underworld in general.

Don't it make you curious? I mean, this comic came out more'n a year ago, but it pretty much got our whole story -- It has Doc Reinstein, the drug we got, and this Steve Rogers fella the brass is so high on...But this is happening now, right? Not last year, so...?

However, Mr. Terrific and Beast figured out a way to restore his normal brain functions but it requires regular injections. If he is deprived of the injections, he begins to regress back to his mentally disabled state
Fame: In the black community, Isaiah is revered as a THE hero
Man out of Time: His years of incarceration combined with his years in a child-like state sometimes leave him struggling to adjust to the modern world
Patriotism: Despite the wrongs done to him by the US Government, he loves and will always continue to serve his country
Relationships: With his wife, his son Josiah X and his grandson, Elijah Bradley, Patriot

Abilities 96 + Skills 24 (48 ranks) + Advantages 28 + Powers 27 + Defenses 14 = 189 / 189

Comments: I am on a quest to find a copy of Truth: Red, White and Black for my collection and I am hoping I can find one at the comic convention I go to since I am dying to read it. But from the Wikis (and a little creative license) I was able to cobble together this build of Isaiah Bradley, the Black Captain America.

For those that don’t know, the story goes like this. As everyone knows, Dr. Erskine was killed after the success of the Super Soldier Serum on Steve Rogers. And everyone knows that ever since, people all over the world have been trying to recreate it. One of the attempts occurred in the early 1940’s where 300 black soldiers from Mississippi were experimented on with the variants of the serum. Isaiah was the only subject to survive the process. He was sent on a mission to Germany, completed it and his reward was that he was then court martialed and incarcerated from 1943 to 1960. During this time, the serum and neglect caused his mind to revert back to that of a small child. However, his legend slowly began to get out and he became a hero within the black community, but still fairly unknown outside of it. Prior to his incarceration, some of his DNA was taken and Josiah X, another super soldier, was born from it. And his daughter gave birth to Eli Bradley, now known as Patriot of the Young Avengers. Eli actually got his super soldier powers from a blood transfusion from his grandfather.

In the Marvel U, his story pretty much ends there. But not in the Thorpacoverse. After getting access to several sealed government records during his work with the government sponsored Justice Society Initiative, Michael Holt, Mr. Terrific, found out about what happened to Isaiah and was disgusted with how he was treated. With Isaiah’s wife Faith’s permission, he started working on a way to restore Isaiah’s mind. After hitting a wall, Henry McCoy jumped in and between the two of them, they came up with a series of injections that corrected the flaws in the SSS and now Isaiah has come back to the world. After a spectacular debut by saving Steve Rogers from certain death in a battle with the Red Skull, he is now part of the modern superhero community of Earth-217. President Obama made sure his records were completely wiped clean, gave him the Congressional Medal of Honor and Steve Rogers asked him to become a field leader for an Avengers team, which he agree to. However, his greatest joys have been spending time with the love of life again while he still has time as Faith is at an advanced age, of course, and is having health issues. And slightly behind that has been fighting side by side with his son and grandson.

As a build, I pretty made Isaiah exactly like the Steve Rogers (based off the Ultimate Cap) in my setting ability-wise but he’s not nearly as skilled overall. He’s a melee fighter with a couple of guns for usage in a pinch since I don’t think that shield is meant for slinging.

Although I don't like all the chracters I'm generally digging your builds.
As for Isaiah, I understood that he was actually the first test subject to survive the Serum while Rogers was the second but, being a black guy in the 40s, the goverment could publicly acknowledge his existance, much less send him in the field in any role except as a common soldier or a undercover operative.
Also I'm not exactly sure about what the serum did to his brain, but it seem that every now and then Isaiah knows what happens around him (he was able to deduce that Elijah is Patriot etc).

Actually, they went back and made it clear that Isaiah and the group he was with were after Steve Rogers, hence the reference to the comic that they saw while they were on their mission. And you're right, his mental disability has been inconsistently portrayed. It was hard to tell where he was really at most of the time, but he does seem to be coherent from time to time.

POWERS:

EQUIPMENT:

Blaster Pistol: Energy Ranged Damage 5; Range 125ft, Small; 10ep

OFFENSE:

DEFENSES:
Dodge +8 [DC18] Parry +6 [DC16]
Toughness +3, Fortitude +7, Will +13

COMPLICATIONS:
Bitch: Amanda tells it like she sees it and if you don't like it, that's your problem
Patriotism: Amanda may have…interesting ways of showing it at times, but she is a diehard American patriot
Prejudice: Some people don't like that a black woman has become one of the most powerful governmental figures in the world
Reputation: Many people don't like going up against The Wall
Responsibility: To serve her country and do her job
Rivalry: Along they have worked together far better than most thought, she still has to keep her eyes on Nick Fury and Cecil Steadman
Secret: I think she has a few

Abilities 54 + Skills 58 (116 ranks) + Advantages 32 + Powers 0 + Defenses 21 = 165 / 165

Comments: I figured it was about time I got the main governmental boogeymen (and woman) done for my setting. Amanda Waller, Nick Fury and Cecil Stedman are all part of the US and World Governmental organizations that have close involvement with metahuman affairs in one fashion or another. Amanda focuses on US issues mainly, and runs Task Force X, the “unofficial” superhuman wetworks team. She also has various other responsibilities and interests as well. Amanda’s strengths are in knowing how the government works, who knows what about what and how to manipulate anyone to get what she wants. She has always had a good relationship with Professor Xavier and has always been a strong supporter of mutant rights, although her reasons remain secretive.

Nick Fury is the head of SHIELD, of course, and he has the best relationship with the superhero community as a whole and is the most likely to go into the field when threats arise. He is the strongest overall combatant of the 3 and the best military mind. He doesn’t have the internal governmental relationships, though, and that can hamstring him when he needs support from The Council. He works closely with The Avengers, The Justice Society Initiative and The Justice League although The League remains a non-government affiliated entity.

Cecil Stedman is more of a combination of his peers. He has a background as a field agent so he has that credibility that Waller lacks but being involved with the secret governmental world longer than the others, he also has a wide network of contacts and resources. His group is more focused on global and extraterrestrial issues, with him being directly involved with Stormwatch and SWORD.

The three of them are considered equals by the president and NATO and three supposedly have a “gentleman’s agreement” of full disclosure, but we all know that ain’t happenin’, however, by and large, they have worked well together, despite some disagreements along the way. Generally, though, if someone in the superhero community wants to know something, or if there is something big going on that affects the superheroic world, one of the 3 of them is involved.

She has always had a good relationship with Professor Xavier and has always been a strong supporter of mutant rights, although her reasons remain secretive.

the reasons may be secret to msot people but id wager a safe bet that theyre pretty obvious to her. Shes someone who would have grown up during or just shy of the civil rights movement, That and shes most likely had to deal with the snide comments, remarks and back handed compliments due to who she is on more then one level. Shes had to strive twice as hard and do double the work just to get even a fraction of the credit that a man would get in her position, andI highly doubt Amanda would have a lot of time for the absolute nonsense of anti mutant hysteria. to her its the same bogus ignorance and fear mongering wrapped up in an X-gene or religious nonsense that shes heard before and that her parents and grand parents had to deal with.

Plus i imagine she sees all superhumans as being an equal potential danger that she has to deal with. makes no never mind to her though, shes The Wall, and The Wall is where the line is drawn and every one stops.

In my mixed setting I had Waller as director of S.H.I.E.L.D. after Fury was forced to step down for some political game. Waller pulled him back pretty much immediatly as Operative Deputy-Director, which means that Fury is the first one to be dropped in any hotspot the S.H.I.E.L.D. need to be burned to the ground.

I have to finished writing that fan-fic piece one day...

Comments: Cecil has always been a great Nick Fury analogue for the Invincible-verse. He came off initially like a father figure to Mark after Omni-Man’s little episode, offering to continue to take care of him and his mom, giving Mark his first superhero assignments, etc. Then as time went on, it became more apparent that while his motives were generally on the level, his methods were a lot more questionable than most people would like. So then they had a falling out and Mark quit associating with him, but as Mark got more worldly, he and Cecil kind of made up. But now they are on the outs again, so I guess we’ll see where things go from here.

I pretty much gave his role in my setting on Amanda’s post, so you can check there if you’d like to know.

Unarmed +11 [Unarmed +3],
Ranged Attack +8
Guns +12 [Heavy Pistol +4]

DEFENSES:
Dodge +10 [DC20] Parry +10 [DC20]
Toughness +5 (+8 against Ballistics), Fortitude +9, Will +11

COMPLICATIONS:
Disability: Fury is missing his left eye, which impairs him on perception checks to that side
Enemy: Several but mainly HYDRA
Patriotism: Fury is a strong American patriot, but he looks at the world as a whole as his nation
Reputation: He's Nick Fury. Good or bad, he has a rep
Responsibility: To SHIELD and The Council
Rivalry: Although they have worked together far better than most thought, she still has to keep his eye on Amanda Waller and Cecil Steadman
Secret: He has a few…

Abilities 78 + Skills 45 (90 ranks) + Advantages 38 + Powers 2 + Defenses 19 = 182 / 182

Comments: And last but not least in our Top Secret Trinity is the legendary Nick Fury. This version of Fury is heavily influenced by the Samuel L. Jackson Fury from The Avengers more so than classic Nick Fury, who I have at J-Mart. His role in my setting is noted in Amanda Waller’s build but by and large, he’s the Nick Fury we all know and are scared sh*tless of.

And was I the only one that was waiting for Samuel L. to go "I AM SO MOTHERF***** TIRED OF THESE MOTHER****** CHITAURI ON MY MOTHERF****** PLANET!" near the end of that movie? 8)

Loving the Owl builds. Batman's universe just keeps getting better. One of the best out there. I don't know how I missed Moose from the Sinestro Corps. He's awesome. Some great designs for the Sinestro Corps that is for sure.

Comments: Jessica Drew for my setting. Still not really trusted by anyone thanks to the Secret Invasion (which I really should do some tests/a story arc on, can you imagine a Super Skrull with the powers of like Cap, Superman AND Wonder Woman...bitchin'...), still looking for acceptance. She has started to date Shaft of Youngblood, though, and he seems to be great for her, as Carol Danvers and Jessica Jones-Cage have noted.

Thanx. At some point, I plan on hitting the Corps builds again and adding a lot more. Too many other irons in the fire right now. I want to line my setting out here more and finish replacing all the builds I'm moving here and to J-Mart PC, too.

For a thousand years, I might as well have already been dead. I... couldn't speak, I couldn't hear... ...and I was so... alone. To have been with you the last few days... to once more be a part of something... thank you all for letting me live again... ...if only for a little while.

Relationships: Mon-El is close to the Superman family and The Guardian
Responsibility: Mon-El feels a strong sense of responsibility to use his powers for the benefit of all
Secret Identity: He maintains a secret identity of Jonathan Kent, Clark's cousin from England
Vulnerable: Mon-El is as vulnerable to magic as anyone else. His Toughness is not Impervious against magical attacks and he loses his ranks of Protection
Weakness: Lead is deadly to Daxamites without a special serum developed by Brainiac-5. Exposure saps the Strength and powers of Daxamites within seconds, leaving them impaired, disabled, and eventually debilitated in terms of Strength and power effects. These effects are unrecoverable without the serum. Long-term exposure to even a small amount over a matter of minutes imposes the dying condition and may lead to death

Abilities 86 + Skills 17 (34 ranks) + Advantages 5 + Powers 106 + Defenses 14 = 228 / 228

Comments: Before everyone starts killing me about his PL, let me state that this take on Mon-El is him as he was when he starred in Action Comics in 2010 during the New Krypton arc. He had been released from the Phantom Zone and was protecting Metropolis during Superman’s time on New Krypton. While powerful, he was a very inexperience hero, so he’s not what he becomes after years of adventuring with the Legion 1000 years from now. He’s right on par with Kara mostly, where he’s powerful but not refined yet.
