Super Medusa/odd power build

Postby Sea.of.Infinity » Mon Aug 20, 2012 5:07 am

I need some help how best to build the following powers.

The character concept is a super gorgon (Medusa) with the ability to turn anything into stone and animate/create stone minion or objects.

They want to use create object to create stone snake hair, that's easy enough but they also want to have the snake hair (create object) have a poison bite that also can turn a victim into stone.

I was thinking either indirect and linked or maybe alternate power summon minion. I'm open to other suggestions.

The second ability they want is to change into a super strong "stone form" by looking at a reflecting BUT its more like stone power armor with them still inside and can either be chipped away or broken in some way. That sounded like the removable flaw but looking into a reflection to get it back seems too easy and doesn't really fit.

Any help and/or suggestions would be welcome thank you.

Sadly, your post came in amongst the posts of one of the spammers, so I nearly missed it in the noise.

If you want the stone snake hair moving on its own independent of you, I'd say that Summon is really your best bet. Then, you can build whatever powers you want into it. In general, Medusa's power involves a Sense Dependent (Visual) Transform (depending on your source, it could easily be a Permanent Aura Area (Perception) Transform (Flesh to Stone) or something more conscious that she must invoke).

There's Ablative for Protection, but the concept is that it takes more than just a glance to replace the armor. I'd be more inclined to stat it out as a Power Loss Drawback, especially if it's as easy as whipping out a pocket mirror or glancing into a storefront window.

Ablative! Thanks, I knew I saw something like that, I just keep glancing over it when I went to look. A drawback should work great and I can just tie the enhanced strength to it.

Yeah, the stone gaze was the easiest to make since its right there in the description of transform, I really like your idea of making it a area aura however. I think I might work that into an uncontrolled effect when she losses the stone armor.

Thanks again.

i'd put it as a limitation. limited number of uses a day or slow, power loss-requires reflective surface might work but it seems pretty hard not to find a reflective surface. Alternatively, it is just the mechanism and has no game effect.
The snakes just seem like an aura to me, something that works independently from the character. Minions that are stuck to your head seem of minimal usefulness to me.

Persoanlly I'd go for a straight-forward touch-range transform with a "snakes hair" descriptor (+noticable flaw; possible +extended depending on long the "snakes" are).
