Shutterbug

Being the new guy, Byron hadn't know Sandra/Penitent, and people pulled out of the hero biz for all kinds of reasons. He'd gotten to know some in FC that he'd been sad to see go, and others he hoped the door didn't hit them in the ass on the way out. He had no real opinion here.

Byron absently fiddled with components of his armor while everyone said their goodbyes. He was present, but not really participating.

All

Sandra takes in your kind words, while Eric remains in the background, silent. He meets Bedros and Stephyn with a look that tells both heroes that Sandra's safety is his number one priority.

When the champagn is passed around, again, Eric stays out of the way for everyone to have their one final toast with Sandra. "Stephyn, Eric would like you to look after the Sanctum for him. I know we can trust you with it."

And then finally, she walks over to Eric, and the two of them fade out, leaving behind the door to the Sanctum.

In game terms, add Dual Size, Dimensional Portal, Magical Library, and Magical Workshop to the HQ. I will let MrDent handle the filming of the expose and how it plays off when aired that night. Otherwise, the adventure is done. I will start one shots either tonight or tomorrow.

Number 2
HP: 0
CND: Fine

"The conquering heroes, victorious fighters returning to a feast of near epic proportions at their shiny new palace. It had all come full circle. A team of heroes for the gulf coast rose in the wake of a major ecological tragedy. A few missteps and replacements later puts the team in a bad spot until they save the day once again. Their fall from grace was only that much harder when their financial backer was exposed as nothing more than a crook in the wake of a botched robbery. Scattered, each went their own way and some never made it back. One went onto riches after publishing a book on the topic and striking a movie deal for his past. Two others dropped off from public sight. Another kept up the good fight by becoming the scourge of street criminals. They all came back together to fight a self proclaimed after being joined by a raging bull with a heart of gold and a techno wizard braver than any nerd ever was. This is their story.", begins Jane in the broadcast.

The expose goes on to describe the reforming of the team in a series of one on one interviews from each members perspective. A little extra time is spent on Number 2's interview and Jane is smiling more during it as well. It than proceeds to follow the technical wizardry of Shutterbug in tracking down Kaine. After a few experts speak about the amazing skill involved, a dramatization of the fight with Kaine is shown. Sound effects follow when Bedros delivers the blow that fell a would be god. At the end of the tape is a montage of each new team member enjoying themselves at the party.

With a glass of wine in her hand, Jane looks over the assembled team who were watching the expose with her. Before she has a chance to speak, her phone rings. her face gives away a look of immense excitement. "You're a hit!", she screams. "The early ratings just came in the audience was three times the size of the regular ratings in all major demographics. You are all famous now. There is already talk of selling the expose as a dvd. The Gulf Coast Guardians are back!"

It's been a lousy birthday for Bedros. You and the team celebrated last night so that you could spend the whole day with your Mom, who was flying in. Only due to some snafu with the airlines, she is unable to make it until tomorrow. Now you are back at the headquarters, and none of your teammates are around.
As you finish off you twelfth gut-buster pizza, a small metal sphere comes crashing through the windows and flies up next to you. A small hole opens up and a light comes out, projecting an image of your father, Taurus.
"Happy Birthday, Bedros."

Wraith

You have spent the last few days getting acclimitized to the Sanctum, which seems to be treating you as the owner now. Well most of it. There are still some doors you can't open. You can almost hear Jack telling you they will open when you are ready.
But right now, you are in a seedy part of town waiting on a street corner for somebody you have never met. You received a message from Callin requesting that you help a hunter deal with a kind of nasty den.
Thirty minutes after the time you were suppose to meet the hunter, an old beat up Mustang comes peeling up. A woman in her late twenties with white hair and a faint scar down the side of her face shouts, "Stephyn, get in. We're late."

Graft

You received a message from Mike to meet at a local coffee shop. He claims to have some information on Sanzel. Of course, he is three hours late. So you have been sitting at a table with a cup of basic coffee that they made you buy. And for some reason, one of the baristas has been flirting with you the whole time.
"Heat that up for you, hon?"

Shutterbug

You can't believe your standing in Beaumont, Texas. All you know is one of your photographs from the battle with Kaine had a secret message encoded in it somehow. The message was a time and coordinates. Well here you are.

Number Two

Jane's expose seems to have increased her TV cred and she doesn't seem to be as close to "forced retirement" as she was a week ago. Unfortunately, it means she has more work and less free time. Still, it doesn't faze you to much.
What did faze you was a message from Jake, one of your old teammates. The pyrokinetic wants to meet for drinks at one of the nicest hotels in the city. And he's buying.

"Father." he rumbled in his deep basso voice while standing tall and proud in front of the image.

There was no anger or any real emotion in his voice. He held no hatred for his father after all the man had given birth to him. Heck he didnt even hate him for not actualy being there as a father all his life. His mother had done a wonderful job on her own, and his father simply was.

That said he was as determined as ever that he would not ever become what his father wanted him to be. That little spat with Kaine had recemented that idea firmly in bedrock in his heart. He would protect it was what he did.

It was who he was.

The hologram smiles at your greeting. "So I was chatting with your mother a few weeks back, and apparently the two of you are under the impression that I didn't do a very good job as your father. She brought to my attention that I missed everyone of your birthdays. Not a single card or present, she said. So I decided to make it up to you. This year, I am giving you the present of all presents." He smiles again, and even Bedros feels a slight chill go up his spine. This is not good.

"Doing a bad job would insinuate you were actualy there." He replied evenly in that deep bass rumble like 2 great boulders rubbing together.

the mention of a gift made his hackles rise though. If his mother hadnt needed some of the gifts his Grandfather had sent he might have considered returning those too just because he knew someday that family might come calling to ask a favor.

"You dont need to do anything, Besides the Labrynthes gifts come with a price I dont think I can pay." The tone in his voice remained even, but there was an edge to it that let Minos Taurus know that he was treading down a path they had gone doww before.

One with disasterous consequences for all involved.

"No, no son, I insist. I promise this will be the most memorable birthday of your immortal life."

Next to the hologram of Taurus, a map of Houston appears. On it there is a blinking red spot clear across town.

"Your present is here." You see a timer appear on the map reading '6:00'. "You'll want to get there before the timer counts down. Wouldn't want some poor citizen finding it first." He shudders sarcastically. "It would be... messy." The timer begins counting down, 5:59, 58, 57...

"Oh and for the record, I am responsible for your mother's travel difficulties. When you see your present, you will thank me."

Bedros didnt even bother crushing the sphere much as it would have given him some brief satisfaction to do so. Instead he left the building and went out to the garden where he knealt down and touched his fingers to mother Earth.

Feeling the pulse and flow of the energy in the earth he used an abiltiy he rarely used but in this case he had no choice. Time being of the essence he breathed deeply once again amtching his breathing and pulse to the slow steady pulse of the earth. Before more then a count of 10 had passed in his mind he melded with the earth becoming part of it, his concience expanding outwards until he was the Earth itself feeling billions of humans and other creatures on it fealing the weight of the water that covered most of his surface, feeling the expance of the sky, and cold chill of space that he orbited throguh, the firey depths of the core and the moving and shaking of the tectonic plates.

This was why he wasnt fond of this particular abiltiiy it was an amazing, breathtaking and overhwelming experience. One that if he were not careful he could lose himself easilly. Focusing his mind on the location revelaed on the map he let his concience shrink and compact back into himself and as he did he rose up from the ground a massive stone grey boulder formless at first but slowly and steadilly taking shape as he finally stood tall and powerful near his destination.

Shaking his head he snorted as he came back to himself and the various smells and sounds reverted back to the normal hustle and bustle of the city of Houston.

Once there he looked around and began to search for his ""gift"".

Extra effort Transmit off his earth control with the earth/dirt/stone as the medium should be easy for him to make it where he needs to be.

then the hard part begins.

Your trip is short and as you rise out of the Earth, it is easy to see what the blinking light was indicating. A nine foot tall metal sarcophogus. Not the high tech one that Kaine was born in, but an older one hammered out by a blacksmith. There are some ancient symbols that look Greek.
The sarcophogus is sitting in a small crater in the middle of a park, with a dozen or so citizen and a pair of police officers surrounding it. As you approach, another small sphere attached to the box lets out a beam of light. Another hologram of Taurus appears.
"Bravo. Now you are faced with another problem, what's in the box? Is it a delicate explosive that will kill everyone in this city unless you smash it? Or maybe its filled with a biological agent, released upon an unsuspecting population by the very same blow? Whatever will you do?"

He pauses for a second. "Oh and since you cheated in getting here," the timer appears at 5:32, "so will I." The timer loses its last digits, and instead of 5 and a half minutes, you now have 53 seconds!

"Good luck, son." His hologram fades away.

This was looking more and more like one of Mike's attempts to get him to go out more. Graft didn't mind them so much, he could appreciate his friend was trying to help him, it was just the part about trying to figure out whether this was work or not that sometimes managed to get to the construct.

kenseido wrote:"Heat that up for you, hon?"

Graft looked up at the barista, then down at his coffee. "Yes please. Actually, there's something else you might be able to help me with as well. I was supposed to meet a friend here but he seems to be running late." Graft gave her a brief description of Mike. "Have you seen him around lately?"

As he talked, he discreetly studied her facial expressions and body language, trying to understand what she wanted from him.

"Bastard!" Bedros growled low and mostly to himself. He was gonna remember this and if anyone got hurt because of this incedent he'd make sure his father remembered it too.

Remembered it for a looooong time.

Clearing those thoughts form his head quickly he looked over the sarcophagus quickly seeking every clue as to its orgins and purpose, and also forming a couple fo quick plans to seal it off if it looked like it would blow.

The barista looks like she is honestly trying to remember someone of Mike's description. Finally she says, "Can't say that I remember anyone like that. If you want, I can ask the others for you?"

Looking at the symbols, they remind Bedros of a binding or imprisonment enchantment. As you look closely, you realize one symbol is missing.

The sarcophogus starts to move around.

Stephyn had almost gave up on the meeting when the car arrived. His patience of late had been stretched very thin, especially concerning the Council. Their on again off again persecution complex only exaserbated this. But, Stephyn could hear his old mentor's voice when his anger started to boil...they are petty little beuruacrats Stephyn...so stuck on their own rules, they fail to see the misery around them that needs their attention...so blind...so, so blind. But that is what we are for...to take care of their blindness...At least he hoped it was Jack's memory, and not...the other. It had particulary quiet recently. Either Stephyn was getting stronger, or it was laying in wait. Only time would tell.

Looking down at the woman, Stephyn couldn't help but admire her slim compact for. A hunter's form. Slouched behind the wheel, her coiled strength was obscured by her posture and the battered leather she wore. Also hidden were the weapons secreted in various places. Onlly Stephyn's trained eye and familiarity with Hunter practices allowed him to descern the locations and type hidden. Even then, there was no gurantee he was right. Each Hunter had his or her own preferance in weaponry.

Opening the door, Stephyn replies as he climbs in, "Yes you are. What are we facing...and if you don't mind, you are whom?"
