Also, what does your character think of this new direction? Does she like the freedom to be bad it offers her, or does it make her clench her teeth in rage when she has to pretend to have gone to a Detroit Metal City's latest orgy? (Yes they are in this game. You try and take them away from me!)
Martie is Zoë's older sister and a stay-at-home mom in Iowa. Her family are old school, non-evangelical Christians, i.e. non-judgmental. They knew their daughter would be fine following her heart by going to Hollywood and has thus far made them proud. However, when the PR "smear campaign" comes out....
Zoë has basically come unglued at her current situation. Having her powers is a dual-edged sword: she's amazed at the physical transformation and would love to truly do good things with it, but on the other hand, her passion is acting and she's made a career on arguably a niche role: the good girl/heroine. Who will believe she's in danger when she can stand at ground zero of an IED and not have her hair messed up? It's no different than if she were gay and came out--who'd believe a hetero love scene if they're looking at the screen thinking she's really gay? That's the fear. What the public would really do is up in the air, but the studio looks at it in terms of bank-ability, and when your top star suddenly up ends everything they've come to rely on....
What they're telling her is true: her old roles are gone for her. She has an opportunity to now reinvent herself. She'll take and smile, but inside...well, maybe there is some bad girl buried deep down that just needs the right push to come out.
