Sword and Sorcery: Fallen Angel (IC)

Postby Tinkerbell » Sun Mar 25, 2012 5:50 pm

Arythis, Brogoth and Galen

Rumors of a strange orphan who speaks an unknown language have been floating around. Supposedly the boy fell from the sky, or maybe emerged from the earth. Some say that he's a sign of the angry beyond. Others say he don't want no trouble. Still, your curiousity has been peaked. after a bit of digging for information, you get a place. A small village by the name of Elton.

Tiaya and Japeth

Several weeks ago, a bright light shone in the sky. Wizards and knowledgeable people all around think it may be extraplanar in origin. According to their calculations, it appeared directly over a small village named Elton.

Plensania

For the past few nights you have been having a dream of an infant falling in a dark void. You get the feeling that the child is in danger and may fall into the wrong hands if you do not intervene. Sune has no answers, but does point you in the direction of a small village named Elton.

All of You

You don't have to be travelling together, but maybe some preadventure meetings would be in order?

Aerythis HP 3, condition Thirsty!

It had been a long, long day in the saddle, with Riaka loping along side her and Opael. Even with frequent rests, they had made good time and could see the rooftops of the tallest buildings in that little city in the distance.
"A kid falling from the sky?" she shook her head. "What do you guys make of it?"

Riaka snorted as he and Opael slowed to a fast trot. "Eh. Probably some damned magic user screwing with spells they shouldn't. Be me best guess anyway. I hope they have something beefy in that town they're willin to part with, I'm tired of pig."

"I'm with the wolf. Could be anything but it smells like a magic user." Opael remarked. "Sans the beef though. A hot mash? Now that's something I can chew on."

Galen
HP: 3
Condition: Workin for a livin :D

"Galen!!" A female voice called out repeatedly "Galen arent you done yet?" Lissa called out to the roof of the small house where the tapping of a hammer could be heard. Lissa huffed and tapped her foot impatiently in time with the tapping of the hammer untill she grrd and was about to climb the ladder when the tapping stopped and a head of dark brown hair and a set of bright blue eyes looked over the roofs edge causing her to gasp in surpise and her cheeks to brun red as the apples her father grew.

The 16 year old quickly adjusted her dress and tried to flair her long blond hair back in a manner similar to what she'd seen the noble ladies of the big cities do. This would be her 26th attemp to seduce the young warrior who'd come to help her father out by doing various odd jobs around the village he called home.

"Sorry Lissa!" he called out apologeticaly "I ran out of nails and had to get some from town, took a little longer then I thought. But the roofs done so no more leaks when it rains." He smiled brilliantly and she felt like she might swoon.

Then she squeaked in suprise when the young man didnt even bother with the ladder and just leapt down to the ground with a flourish landing right in front of her. She nearly swooned again as he smiled at her with his smoothly muscled chest flush with the sweat of his labors and only a loose white shirt to cover it.

"T-T-Thanks Galen..." She stuttered slightly as she followed him while he gathered up the tools and the ladder to put them in the barn "Wont you stay for dinner." She asked quickly as he looked like he was about to pack up and just leave, a hint of desperation in her voice.

"I'd like that..." he began raising her hopes only to dash them a moment later "But I cant, I heard about a rumor. Some strange child in a village named Elton not to far from here." he gestured vaguely eastish of the small farmstead. Lissa had heard of the small town but never been there.

Galen smiled at her "Well its been nice meeting you Lissa, thank your father for me when he gets back from the market!" he called out over his shoulder as he walked down the road with a wave goodbye.

"Wait!" She called "Surely youre not gonna walk all the way there! Its at least 3 days journey!" she yelled in suprise.

He shrugged and smiled back with a laugh "Well I cant fly so walk it is!" hefting his travel pack over his shoulder he waved once again at her then hurried down the road on to his next adventure.

After a stop at a near by stream where he spent the better part of an hour using a bar of soap to wash away the sweat and grime he changed clothes and moved on down the path keeping a wary eye out for any trouble. Not that he expected any mind you there lands bordered the Elfish kingdoms and so were well patrolled and watched. A general feeling of safety colored the population who did their best to make sure they stayed on friendly terms with the elfish host.

Galen himself had had prior dealings with the Elves and found them to be a wonderful people, charming, and smooth if a little alloof and sometimes they could be condescending int he fashion of a parent to a child, but that was understandable given their longer life spans.

Two days later found Galen approaching the outskirts of Elton, the village was visible over the horizon but as exited as he was he decided to slow his approach and camp out tonight. He had walked a good ways and figured he'd have a better chance approaching the village in the morning light.

Fashinoning a small sling and using a smooth stone from a nearby stream he patiently waited and then with a quick flick of the wrist snapped a stone which flew unerringly at its target a small coney. quickly cleaning and preparing the small animal he gave thanks to its spirit and set to cooking its meat over a small fire from wood that had fallen to the ground. In an hour the meat was cooking in a small pot filled with water and some sliced vegetable and spices that he carried with him, and a delicious smelling stew was a brew.

Sitting to eat along with some bread that Lissa had inssited he take with him he drank from a small canteen as he contemplated what might await him ahead on the morrows rise.

Whatever ti was he was confident he could handle it. He was a hero like his father and come what may he would face any danger to protect the innnocent.

Little wordy but gets him going and leaves a spot open for anyone that comes by.

thanks for having me.

HP 1

With a crack like thunder, I appear from the air, expecting to arrive outside Eladrial's hall. My cousin is native to this region, and was all to happy to have me for a visit on my way to Elton, chasing rumors of strange, otherworldly events. Might just be local gossip, but then, if so, Its just a short spell to head back home. However, I did not arrive standing before a grand elvin hall, but instead before me is a small campsite, and a young man whom appears to be its sole occupant. Brown hard, clad in armor, sword and dagger both on sight. To well armed for a normal traveler, certainly. "Sorry" I begin "I seem to have arrived quite a bit off course, but thats not to be unexpected when traveling via magic. Its actually quite astounding, some of theories in place as to what causes displacement from the destination. I do believe the wayfar's guild has paper on the notion of arcane drifting and etherial winds that..." I trail off, stopping myself from going on. "But I digress. Is this anywhere near Nezambrahl, its a small elvish city. Or perhaps Elton? I believe that one is a hamlet of some sort." Oh, right, introductions might be good. You don't just appear in the midst of someones campsite and start rambling on. "Ah, but I am being rude aren't I? Interrupting your dinner and not even offering proper greetings." I bow low, a well practiced motion for me. "Tiaya Ion’Vanatril, At your service"

Brogoth
HP:2
Condition: Hungry

"Yer talkin' to tha animals again, aint ya, Aerythis?"
The Rock Dwarf says with slight accusation in his tone. "I recognize it when ya get all... funny in tha head like tha."

Though slower than the horses mounted speed the sheer tenacity with which he plodded along behind them let him keep a strange sort of pace with his mounted companion. He pace was also faster than the average humanoid.

"Tell tha horsey I found us all some deep tubers."
he states, slinging a stained cloth sack over a thickened shoulder. The scent is peppery, reminiscent of radish. "Riaka will have ta fend for himself, unless he wants a share of the rocks I pulled up." He crunches a speckled white one to make a point. Stone crumbles fall from his lips and he picks the larger from his beard and brush the rest away. "Mmmmm.... crunchy." He says, pleased.

"I could do with a tub of ale meself. A wyvern-sized tub." His tone is dreamy.

"So, boy from tha sky? Mage, ya think?" he asks his Celestial-blooded companion.

HP: 3
Condition: Hack cough

Galen had barely gotten a couple of bites into supper when a crack of thunder deposited a gues tin his midst quite unexpectedly. He coughed and choked and fell right on his backside before he finally managhed to clear his airway and get a good look at the newcomer.

And by the gods was she beautiful his eyes widened as she stood there looking at him with those gemlike eyes and that waterfall of long silken hair. maybe it was the light of the setting sun behind her at just the right angle and moment but he found himself as thunderstruck by her appearance as by the thunder that announced her appearance.

Oh, right, introductions might be good. You don't just appear in the midst of someones campsite and start rambling on. "Ah, but I am being rude aren't I? Interrupting your dinner and not even offering proper greetings." I bow low, a well practiced motion for me. "Tiaya Ion’Vanatril, At your service"

"ahh umm ahh Iiii..." he stuttered for a few moments as she bowed and introduced herself then it hit him. the ears, the tall graceful physique, that soft melodious voice almost as if she were singing instead of speaking. She was one of the Eldar, the elves and once again he was stunned.

Quickly he managed to shake free of his bewilderment, and stand up before he offered a bow and greeted her in her own tongue, the accent was a touch provincial but his words were smooth and fluent. He prided himself on speaking the elvish language well. It was something his father had drilled it into him relentlessly.

<Dara Tiaya I am honored to meet you, wont you please honor me with your company?" he greeted her before he quickly turned his head away to hide the rapidly growing blush on his cheeks and grabbed a bowl of the stew and some bread which he offered to her along with a spoon, and a glass of cold water from the stream nearby. She was a true lady how rude would it be to make her eat with her fingers.

Dara Tiaya = Lady Tiaya

and for a quick note the dagger is more like a long knife both the Long Knife and Sword are clearly evlish in design with wolf like imagery on the hilts and guards.

"Can't help it Dro, it's like how I talk to you and understand what yer sayin in yer tounge, without any studyin or book learnin. Plus, if yer understandin somebody, it's right rude not ta reply." she grinned at her companion. "An as a lady, Ah am so shocked at rudeness" she said, putting on her 'noble lady act'.

"Tell tha horsey I found us all some deep tubers." he states, slinging a stained cloth sack over a thickened shoulder. The scent is peppery, reminiscent of radish. The wolf huffed at him, amused and Opael graciously accepted some of the tubers, chewing reflectively. "Tell him thanks Aer." the horse said and she relayed the message.

"So, boy from tha sky? Mage, ya think?" he asks his Celestial-blooded companion. "I could do with a tub of ale meself. A wyvern-sized tub." His tone is dreamy.

"Well, if it isn't shooting stars, then yeah. Smells like a mage muckin about with what they shouldn't, but then, they're always muckin about with what they shouldn't." she chuckled. "Gimme a sword, a good ale and some bandits to kill and I'm a happy girl, magic's just too likely to blow up in yer face fer me likin it or trustin it."
she said, falling into a comfortable well used conversation between them. It helped pass the time while on the trail anyway. "Hope that there town's booze is as good as the Singing Snake's, now that were some tasty ale."

Brogoth

"Now, now. Remember, not everythin' that comes from tha sky should be viewed with suspicion." He lightly touches the patch over his right eye where a burn scar marrs his otherwise finely chiseled features - a mark of his 'blessing' from and devotion to the SkyMother.

"If this boy is a gift to this land from the Mistress of Storms herself then it's our duty to figure out why he's here and protect him on his task."

"By Gold! He may be a member of tha legendary Cloud Dwarves tribe that ascended into SkyMother's embrace to mine diamonds and sapphires from tha fluffy clouds themselves much in tha same way us land-bound dwarves take tha metal bounties from StoneFather.
The Rock Dwarf's voice gets a little louder with the excitement of it, his own religious fervor injecting itself into his words.

He shakes his head a little and the two-handed hammer strapped on his back waggles with the movement.

He remembers his companion's last words.

"Aye, the Singing Snake's Dark Ale is somethin' the bards should compose... err... epic bardy words about."

Plensania Moradren
HP: 1
Condition: a lot happier

Plensania has been listening to Japheth play for a while. His music has always been a pleasure to her ear. It was lucky that she even found him out here in... where ever this place is. She stands up to greet her friend with a hug and a warm soft tone, "It has been too long, love." Letting go, she smiles, "The mustache adds to your lovely look." She nods over to a table in the corner of the tavern, "You get the drinks and I'll go save us a seat." When Japheth comes to the table, she lightly pats the chair next to her with an inviting smile. "How long has it been since we've sat and enjoyed each other's company," she asks rhetorically. "And you're on your way to Elton also," she smiles, "I'm sure this will be a more lovely trip with a travelling companion such as yourself, if you care to join me."

Plensania Moradren
HP: 1
Condition: comparing notes

Plensania looks at Japheth slightly confused, "I was not informed of an event." She shrugs and and dips the tip of her finger into the drink and then tastes a drop with a light kiss. All the while quietly uttering a prayer to her goddess to bless the drink. "No," she says looking to Japheth, "I have been receiving visions in my dreams. An infant child falling in a black void. Possibly into the wrong hands. Sune herself does not know what this means, so she has sent her servant to investigate." Plensania takes a small sip of the blessed beverage and sets it down, obviously satified with it or her blessing or possibly both. "Tell me, Japheth," she says softly rubbing the middle of his shoulderblades with her palm, "what do you know of this?"

Taiaya
HP 1

Poor guy, seems nearly ready to drop dead from the shock I gave him, can barely managed to form proper syllables, much less words. I do my best to be equally patient and non threatening, giving him a chance to get his bearings together and gain back a bit of composure. I would wager, were out situations reversed, I'd likely be rather flustered as well by having a guest arrive so abruptly. Still, even with the situation, I do end up smirking, ever so slightly. Can't help it, he's almost cute the way he's all worked up and confused. Either way though, he manages to get his thoughts in order, jumping to his feet and offering a bow in return.

catsi563 wrote:<Dara Tiaya I am honored to meet you, wont you please honor me with your company>

I raise a bit of an eyebrow, followed by a warm smile. Nice to see someone who was willing to take the time to learn the Elvin language. Accent is regional, but not one I can place specifically. Never had a great ear for such subtitles. "Such fine manners, playing host to a stranger out of the blue." I say with a nod "If you would have me, then yes, I will happily stay". I take a seat on the grass, watching silently as he rushes to and fro, gathering up food and drink to offer. Generous and polite, impressive indeed.

When the impromptu meal is at last presented, I partake of it, trying the soup and bread in turn, with water in between to cleanse the palette. "For such a humble meal" I begin, pausing to clear a few stray crumbs from my lips "it is quite delicious. I might even go so far as to wager it is the finest meal I could have chanced upon this evening"

For a moment, I was a bit ashamed that I had nothing to offer in exchange for such kindness. I hadn't brought any food, since I was expecting to arrive at my kins estate. A moment of thought allows me to discern an alternative. I dig about within my satchel, and from within its confines, produce a small wooden ocarina. Raising it to my lips, I begin to play.

The tune is fairly simple, a pleasant tune for warm summer nights with friends. The slowness of my fingers reminds me how long its been since I last practiced. Music was never a great skill of mine, one I picked up on a whim and only seldom returned to. But, despite a few difficulties here and there, the practiced motion of each note one again began to feel effortless, giving the melody shape and form as it drifted through the small grove I had come to find myself within.

Galen

When the impromptu meal is at last presented, I partake of it, trying the soup and bread in turn, with water in between to cleanse the palette. "For such a humble meal" I begin, pausing to clear a few stray crumbs from my lips "it is quite delicious. I might even go so far as to wager it is the finest meal I could have chanced upon this evening"

Now Galens cheeks really flushed with the praise. "I'm much better with a full kitchen." he chuckled humbly and good naturedly. They conversed easilly while they ate though Galen did his best not to make himself look like a complete fool as he had on her appearance.

When she pulled out the ocarina his eyes widened as she began a lively and warm tune that swept him off over grassy hills where laughter and good music spoke of warm summer days with a loved one. He smiled brightly as he watched her.

Then as she continued to play he reached over to his pack and pulled out a small flute. He wasnt as skilled as the bards that passed through from time to time, but his mother had insisted he learn to play when she said that music was a language that all people could speak.

Putting the flute to his lips he breathed a moment before his own playing rose up to entertwine with hers and together the two began a lively duet that spoke of friendship and gave the impression that they were dancing together. Of two hearts meeting on the lonely road.

And so Galen played and he let his playing compliment and contrast hers supporting her melody with his own sometimes taking the lead, and sometimes falling back to let her take the lead, but never overhwleming her or trying to compete with hers.
