I expected a few rerolls. I even expected people to spend a Hero Point to counter an attack or get the Uncanny Dodge advantage for one round and keep their full defenses (the "Heroic Feat" option for hero points).

Ambushes are tough but not that tough for heroes with the armor of plot/luck (which translates as Hero Points in the game)

Well, the actions had already happened. Normally you can't go out and say, oh by the way, I have Uncanny Dodge now.

And, had IC rolled me another natural 1, I would have failed that last save by three degrees, not two.

Not sure what i'm suppose to be rolling for, but here are the rolls. :) I hope i did this right...

American Patriot: 20, 25, 14

Dodge +8
1d20=16, 1d20=17, 1d20=9

16 +8 = 24
17 +8 = 25
9 +8 = 17

Toughness +6

1d20=18, 1d20=14, 1d20=7

18 +6 = 24
14 +6 = 20
7 +6 = 13

You don't roll Dodge saves. If you can't detect the attacks, your dodge is halved for the purposes of these attacks.

@Belial666 Hide in Plain Sight is not an option, as you said that, regardless how stealthy we were, the entire facility was covered with nanites and so they know our exact position at all times. So there is no hiding for Kal. So while he may not have died in the first attack, he is still pretty f'ed up and down two HP

Basically halve your dodge, and then add 10 and that is the number their attack rolls have to meet or beat to hit you. So compare their attack rolls against your (current Dodge).

In this case, you will have failed by one degree, failed by two degrees and failed by four degrees. I would reroll at least one of those (the last one) and probably the second one as well, providing you have the HP for it.

Hero Points are used as a reaction (so they can be used against enemy actions) and can grant you advantages. I.e. someone getting blasted with artillery fire could use a Hero Point to get evasion for one round. Or someone being hit by overwhelming fear could get Fearless for one round. It's this Heroic effort/heroic stubborness thing (or plain plot armor) that helps heroes in tough situations. In your case, you can gain Uncanny Dodge for 1 round - by, say, "getting a lucky break dodging" or "straining your enhanced reflexes to their limits".
It is what I like most about M&M 3E against other d20 games - it fixes one of the weak points of the d20 system, which is its usual inability to adress just such heroic efforts / plot points mechanically and that can kill heroes due to bad luck.

The point is, the ambush wasn't supposed to kill anyone and, given the Hero Point rules, isn't going to kill anyone. You didn't have the Hero Point rules available thus went ahead and had your character die so I as the GM am pointing out the solution and giving you an opportunity to fix it - just like I'd do for any other mechanical problem that appeared. I.e. if you forgot to add your ranks in enhanced stamina to your rolls for example and died due to that, I would point it out and wouldn't have your character stay dead.

As for hiding, you can't get concealment, no. Getting behind cover OTOH is still viable vs direct attacks.

I can run but there is no hiding from something that I don't know where it is.

ah.. okay. Can i use my HP for the uncanny dodge feat for this round then? I'm not sure what I'd have to re roll, but if you tell me, i'll do it. :)

You need to be checking your character sheet for what you can do... AP, and if you're not sure let me know.

Your character's HUD has Sonar (Accurate, Extended Hearing & Danger Sense). He isn't subjected to the Vulnerability. So, the last attack on him misses. Also, his total Toughness is 12 (6 Stamina, 4 Armour, 2 Defensive Roll), so he takes no damage from the 1st hit, and a single bruise from the 2nd hit.

For your turn, when you go on the attack, you can use your Leaping to get into melee, hurl an energy shield, or use your Shield to Deflect (and redirect) their attacks.

@Belial
Do these things have concealment to Sound? It makes a difference for AP, if these things manage to avoid being affected by Seraphina's stunt.

Nope. Visual concealment only (think very advanced chameleon coating). Rolls for Brainiac Wardens;

Rerolled attack on Kal-El-astic: 24 (hits despite the reroll) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3523147/
Resist Nullify rolls of 9, 18, 12 (Seraphina should roll opposed ones) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/3523174/

Nullify Power Check (1d20+10=28, 1d20+10=25, 1d20+10=11)

Only 1 number I could have rolled to botch that last one, too... and I'm out of anything I can do to reroll it.

Okay.. i'm still a little confused about what's different from 3e and 2e. I plan on him using his shield to redirect their attacks. what will i have to roll for that?
