Carstairs
HP- 1
Condition: Uninjured

He nods at Lang.

"Okay, everybody. listen up!

"Lang, Hayes, I need you to try and track what's behind this. Any intel you can get.

"Nathan, you and Jack lay down cover fire. Coordinate with the shuttle.

"Ivan, check your bag of tricks. Any help is good help.

"Doc, get ready to treat the girl.

"I'll pull her back to the shuttle."

Without further word, he charges towards the girl, running evasively.

Simon Lang
HP: 1
Cnd: Healthy
Location: Dino-Planet, outside shuttle

Following Carstair's instructions Simon cast his senses out into the jungle, searching for psionic energies that might be the cause of the raptor attack. As his third eye went outward his eyes focused ahead. Picking his targets the private squeezed his rifle's trigger. His railgun hummed and spat forth a flurry of metal in controlled bursts, it's mouth moving from one raptor to another.
OOC wrote:Perception roll to see if Simon can detect any psionic eminations coming from a mind. He has both Acute Psionic Awareness and Accurate Detect Minds. So if he can detect psionic energies in the direction of a mind she should be able to at least narrow down a source/direction. If not accurately. Basically, Simon is trying to see if the dinos are being controlled psionically, and figure out the direction the psychic is in.

Perception: 1d20+15=29

Then he'll attack the raptors. Using the multiple target option of Multiattackto hit more than one.

Attack Raptors [All-out attack -2/+2, Accurate Attact -1/+1, attack 4 Raptors] If they're minions he'll take 10 for a result of 18, otherwise here are the rolls: 1d20+8=15, 1d20+8=17, 1d20+8=11, 1d20+8=15 DC 21 Tough if the attacks hit.

Michael Hayes
HP: 1

Athletics check to "sprint" 1d20+10=21 Giving me Speed 120 feet this round.

The Space warrior was out the door, moving at full speed towards the mayhem. With blinding speed the armoured man drew his sword on the run, and struck like lightning at the first creature he could. As he moved he could see out of the corner of his eye, Carstairs moving to protect the girl, acting exactly as Michael expected. 'Good job, ya old fart.' He thought with a smile.

I shall assume these are minions and take a 10 which will automatically hit. If they are not minions, let me know and I will roll. Sword strike is DC 23, Incurable, Penetrating 8. I have take down 1, so if the first creature falls, I automatically get to strike at a second.

Then I will use my HP to make a second attack, and once again, if the creature falls, my Take down 1 will trigger, and I will attack another. For a maximum for 4 targets being hit this turn.

Ivan Gomamov
Uninjured, 1 HP. Init: 22

Ivan nods, and produces his device to sedate the reptiles. He takes the device to bare, pointing towards the raptors, and as he presses some buttons the devices emits a low humming sound, unperceptive for mammals, but disruptive to reptilian cognitive processes, producing instant slumber and sleep.

Ivan's initiative: 22
Din-O-Yawner: Sleep 10 DC: 20: Cone Area extra [60ft cone](+1/r), Alternate resistance (will), Limited: Reptiles (-1/r), Sense dependant: Hearing (-1/r). Using it on all the area to get as much dinos as possible.

Hayes swept out of the shuttle, his guns spewing out red hot death into the attacking raptors. His aim was remarkably accurate as he wasted little ammunition, each shot seeming to be a kill shot. Yet the reptiles kept coming, charging the girl as if under the control of something else.

Carstairs raced across the intervening meters between the shuttle and the strange white haired girl- such a strange color to see on a human that wasn't well past their prime. He scooped her up in one arm and raced back toward the shuttle as the small gun in her hand still fired toward the closing raptors.

Simon's mind cast out to the raptors, and he found a low level buzz. They were enraged, and they were confused. This prey was costing the pack too many of its members, but they couldn't stop the attack. Something was driving them to kill the girl. As he detected this low undertow of energy that seemed to sweep through the minds of the raptors, his body worked on automatic as three more of the large headed creatures fell to the ground with 7.5 mm slivers of spent uranium smashed into their skulls at mach 20.

Suddenly the creatures stopped their attack as Doctor Gramanov's device went on line. For just a moment, skidded to a stop and then stared as if seeing the humans for the first time. Then panicking they made a bee-line back to the cover of the forest. Deep in the fern forest, something howled in frustration as Carstairs came pounding up the ramp, the little girl with the hand gun in his arms.

Carstairs
HP- 1
Condition: Uninjured

Carstairs sets the girl down next to the shuttle.

"You stay here. If we start to retreat, get in the shuttle.

"Good work, Ivan,"
he says as he turns back to the battle, bringing his rifle back to a ready position as he waits to see what happens next.

Once the raptors started to retreat Simon ceased fire and lowered the barrel of his railgun so that it pointed towards the ground. His eyes remained on the forestry. Meanwhile his mind's eye tried to grasp at the low level buzz, to follow it. To get a direction. Once the girl was back at the shuttle he pointed out into the forest, in the direction he had heard the roar.

"There was a psionic signal. It came from over there. Doctor Gramanov's device may have disrupted it, because I do not sense it anymore."

Gradually he backed up towards the shuttle. When it became apparent they weren't going to be attacked right away Simon looked to Gale. Though instead of opening his mouth to speak he spoke mind to mind, in case she didn't understand Carstairs.

"The Sergeant would like you to remain at the shuttle Gale. Is there anything you are able to tell us about what happened here that may help us?"

Ivan Gomamov

"Thanks. Although I will point out that if I could have landed first as I suggested, the lives of the apparently mind controlled animals would have been spared. Keep that in mind for future tactical decisions Carstair; your boys shoot first and ask later, few times the best course of action." Just as he says that, the device in Gomamov's hands start to spark and smoke, before shooting down permanently. "Hmm back to the design terminal I guess."

"What Simon says takes huge relevance. That means there's a focused effort against our efforts t salvage either tech and lives. Something or someone that cares not for what he has to do, sending these creatures to their certain demise seems not to make it feel the least remorse; not to speak of what would have happened to us or the girl if it succeeded." he adds

Michael Hates
HP: 0

Actually I used my sword. Not a big deal, same DC, same accuracy.

Michael swung his sword in an a sharp ark, knocking most of the blood free from the blade. Then the young man drew a black handkerchief and carefully cleaned the blade before sliding it into his sheath. With his sword clean, the man returned to the group just in time to hear Ivan complain. "Doc, not to offend you, but we had no guarantee your device would work. Besides our mission is to save human lives."

He listened to the junk about an outside force, it mattered little to the warrior. He had a job to do, it didn't matter if ten creatures tried to stop him, or a thousand.

Ivan Gomamov

Ivan regarded Hayes coldly. The genetics of Dr. Vladimir Gramanov flourishing. "My devices always work, private; my designs are impeccable. The mission limited scope of soldiers' mind is precisely the problem, Hayes, thanks for the demonstration of my point." he said, not shy about demonstrating his superior intellect. Gramanov usually did that all the time, but Ivan was not so prone to it. However, he had the genetic potential to be a real d*ck.

Beholder

It was quick and Nathan was normally ready. Jack was the same, but being the front lines of battle caught Nathan off gaurd. He was normally at the site days before and already 2 miles away ready for the attack. This was all new and so fast.

By the time Nathan removed his gun from his shoulder and cocked it, it was over. Both Nathan and Jack seemed disappointed in themselves. However, Nathan looked to redeem himself and when he heard that someone could be controling those creatures, his started scanning. Flashing through all his different sights. "I'll scan the spectrum and see if I can find someone nearby."

Gale nodded to the mental speech sent her way. With a wry smile she said in a strangely accented Terran Standard, "They started attacking before your shuttle landed, sir. I almost missed them, and only the sound of your engines awoke me." She shuddered at some unspoken thought. "There was some kind of mental compulsion. I've felt it ever since Captain Carstairs sounded the red alert on the ship."

In the distance there was a primal roar of frustration that penetrated not only the ears, but the minds of the people on the shuttle. Something was starting to hunt again, trying to flush out its prey with fear generated physically and psychicly.

Ivan Gomamov

Ivan speaks in Thulian to the girl. "Can you understand me? Are you the only survivor of the Imperial ship? Is there urgency to rescue anyone else?" Even though he knew there was only one life signature, perhaps an Imperial mutant might have some rare physiology allowing it not to generate infrared emissions

The girl shook her head and shuddered. "They all died. I felt them die with the ship's mind. It was horrible. The aliens hunted them with their minds!" Her lips started to tremble as she fought back tears but seemed to be refusing to show any weakness. "I survived, I hid in the song. Like Captain Atlyn." The last she said with a sense of pride at being able to do such an adult thing. She held a hand to the side of her head, revealing a further mutation- five fingers and a thumb on each hand.
