Fortune
HP: 1
Luck: 1
Condition: Fine and Dandy

Terry watched in amazement as Carson appeared to be hitting on this Blackrock woman. Ballsy, and it might very well get him killed, but it also was serving as a nice distraction.

Not having any powers that allowed him to actually get to the villains on the rooftops in a short order, he decided it was best to stay in cover while lending his assistance to his team mates. He smiled a bit, even in the face of the adversity since this was the first time he'd ever fought alongside anyone before, so it felt a bit awkward.

Watching as Andi jumped at one of Blackrock's partners in crime he dropped a Hex on him hoping to give her a leg up.

Hex is a Will save against DC19. 1st Degree Failure is -2 to saves, 2nd degree is -5. It's also indirect 4, subtle 2 and insidious, so he won't know it's happening to him, hopefully allows Andi to kick his butt.

OOC: Okay, I'm going to roll initiative for the badguys since there isn't a surprise round. Then I'll post the list and we can resolve all actions in order. Please post in order during combat. I hate having to sort through a bunch of out of order posts and having players try to edit actions that may become invalid as someone acts before their original post.

Initiatives-

25 Blackrock
24 Gloom
23 Boomer
21 Jade Veil
21 The Crane
20 Black Python
17 Black Starr

15 Lex Talionis
13 Black Mass
12 Fortune
11 Black Beetle
10 The Audit
07 The Muscle
03 Putty

Blackrock used her Seize Initiative to move first, which since she has no HP (as an NPC), awards all the PC's an HP.

BTW- I'd like to thank Jabroniville for the build of Black Mass I'm using. Since none of these characters made it into H&V and only Black Beetle is a mirror image villain, any one of these perps I don't have to build is great.

Blackrock's Brigade: Blackrock-

The sultry, yet sinister leader of the villain team smirks slightly as she sees the newcomers start to move on her. From her vantage point floating some 20 stories above the pavement and 10 above where Boomer stands yelling up to her she simply releases her hostages, except for Lois. The WGBS crew that was interviewing her is included in the plummeting parties, but Boomer has greater worries as the powerful criminal fixes him with an evil glare and points at him.

"Oh do shut up!"

The air around her seems to ripple and a bolt of electromagnetic energies streaks toward the boomerang wielder.

To wit: Using a free action Blackrock rearranges her dynamic array, leaving just enough power to hold Lois airborne, letting Perry, Jimmy and the pair of WGBS personnel plummet.

Then she attacks Boomer with a ranged Affliction, rank 11. 1d20+8=23. Assuming that hits Boomer it's a DC21, resisted by Dodge. A 1st degree failure imposes Impaired(fighting) and Vulnerable conditions. Should there end up more than one degree of failure, I'll give those conditions.

Gloom is up

Gloom

Eddie was so intent on remaining hidden, it never occured to him that a villain...a true villain would do something so heinous. Mouth in a grimace, the slinking shadow gestures with his hand in a violent swipe. As he does, a large shadow literally ripples from the building in the shape of a sinister talon-like hand on a path to intercept the falling journalists. Heroing was much more difficult than it looked...much more.

Ouch...nasty, nasty, nasty. OK, Shadowgrasp(Move Object 8 )...attempting to "grab" some of the falling. Shadowgrasp(Move Object 8 )ranged grab... (1d20+4=20)...not bad for a ranged attack of 4.

OOC: The way I see it, Gloom can either for sure Grab 1 falling victim, or stunt an AoE or Split on his Move Object to grab multiple potential victims. It is worth noting that with a 20 story fall the victims won't hit the ground until the end of the round permitting multiple members of the IJ to attempt rescues.

Also please remember while in combat, to list your Condition, available Hero Pointsand any Luck Points. This means Gloom's banner should look something like this:

Gloom
Condition: fine
HP 2

This allows both player and GM to more easily keep track of what you've burned up stunting, what your action modifiers are, etc. Obviously this goes for everyone not just Gloom.

Daily Planet-

As the hostages from the Planet and the WGBS reporters fall, all are terrified, knowing that Superman, who usually saves their lives is off earth. Before there is a chance to really even scream or embarrassingly soil themselves, a tendril of shadowy energy grabs the plummeting Jimmy Olsen.

Boomer is up.

Boomer
HP: 5

Dodge Save: 1d20+12=31

Considering all comics show the Daily Bugle to be the tallest building in the immediate area, I assume we are on a roof, looking up at them. If not, I want to spend an HP to edit the scene so Carson is in fact looking up at Black Rock. Let me know if that was a required scene edit.

Carson gritted his teeth as the bolt of energy came soaring at him. He had idea if such a thing could kill or just subdue him, either way he wanted no part of it. With amazing skill he back flipped out of the path of the attack, clearing it with ease.

Gloom leapt out of no where and caught the red head, the fabled Jimmy Olsen, Super-dork's pet human. Carson noted Black Rock maintained her hold on Louis Lane, smart move if the boy scout showed up. Still, three more were falling, and Carson only had one chance to save a life.

He licked his lips as he timed his action just right, he charged at full speed, running across the roof to give a little extra power to his jump, and leapt through the air, colliding with one of the falling people in mid air, Caron's momentum forced him and the person he saved through a window into an office of the Daily Bugle.

Carson sat up, covered in shattered glass, and groaned, "Never doing that again."

For effect, he back flips out of the way, acrobatics check: 1d20+10=21
Run and jump, Athletic Check: 1d20+6=25

If you ever saw The Incredibles, you know where I just got this from.

Daily Planet-

After bounding awat froom the attack launched by the villainess, Boomer immediately shifts to the offensive, charging across the rooftop to execute an amazing, diving rescue. Hurtling through the air, he snatches the blonde reporter out of harms' way, even managing to break through the glass window opposite without either being injured beyond a couple bruises and having the wind knocked out of them.

Jade Veil and The Crane are up.

Jade Veil
Condition: normal
HP: 4

Upon arrival, Gemma went into operational mode. There were targets and they needed to be understood and taken down. Once Gemma had taken notice of Black Python, she had timed her exit of the Muscle to land quietly and use the power of the Jade Veil to remain out of sight, even though there was little to no cover on this rooftop. She had been studying her opponent with a critical eye and taking the measure of the man.

Gemma now revealed herself, drew her sword and channeled her Chi into the katana. Her life force imbued the sword with an ethereal green energy that made the blade glow and give off wisps of emerald smoke. She slashed down with practiced ease at her target and drew back into a ready stance, her eyes keenly focused on the effect of her strike.

She said nothing and made no sound. The only noise being the passing of a mystically sharp blade against flesh.

Free action to draw blade
Move action to activate Five Ancestors Blade technique
Attack (1d20+13=33) Crit! DC 25 (Penetrating 5)

Skill Mastery Stealth 25 Hide in Plain Sight which had been activated in previous turn

The Crane
HP: 2 Condition: Fine

"Oh &@*%!" The Crane stares, phone call forgotten. That psycho lady just straight up dropped a bunch of people from like a skyscraper. Then Carson throws himself off a roof to catch one. And there are still people falling. So that's how its gonna play.

The boy in the white tuxedo tracks a plummeting reporter with one hand, then slams his cane down with the other. When the polished black shaft struck the dull gray rooftop it rebounds hard. The powerful, but smooth kick carries The Crane out over the street. Straight into a falling victim.

One confusing and loud second later a small voice says "Ugh. This legit superhero $#!% might be harder than I thought."

Similar move to Hound but my cane can give leaping 5 for 250 ft.
I'm not sure what to roll but its a 2. Hero point! Its a 14
That would be 21 Athletics, 23 Close Combat, 24 Dodge, I dunno.

Daily Planet-

Executing a near identical maneuver to Boomer, though with a bit more ease thanks to the rocket assisted leap his cane provides, the dapper hero snags Perry White out of the air. Even burdened as he was his stunt was flawless, leaving only the WGBS cameraman still falling to earth.

Meanwhile Jade Veil slides up to Black Python unseen and unleashes her devastating battle technique. Black Python tastes the air, his head whipping around at the last moment to try to spot stranger he smells. He doesn't purposely dodge, but his movement saves him from a crippling injury, though he is still rocked by the blow.

Black Python's Toughness Save. 1d20+8=21. He is at -1.

Black Python and Black Starr are up.

Daily Planet (Black Python)-

Recoiling from the blow of Jade Veil's sword, the serpentine villain hisses in pain and anger. He fixes his baeful gaze on the woman who snuck up so close to him. If he were inclined to be chatty in combat, he would ask how she managed it. If he were inclined to be boastful, he would tell her how he was going to tear her limb from limb. Black Python was neither chatty nor boastful, but rather a mutant of action. He simply regrouped and lunged at the woman in green, intending to crush out her life in his coils.

Unfortunately for him, the blow he took caused more pain than he'd anticipated and he drew up short to lessen the sting.

Black Python's attack roll. 1d20+10=11. Yay jobber villain!

Daily Planet (Black Starr)-

From her vantage point in the sky, the dark tressed villainess snarled at the arriving heroes.

"You fools will regret interfering! I'll destroy you all!"

Uttering words any dialogue coach would flinch at, due to their absolute predictability, the longtime Supergirl foe swoops down, unleashing a powerful gravity blast at The Muscle.

Black Starr. Gravity Blast attack. 1d20+7=17. If that hits the Muscle's Dodge, then it's a DC25 Toughness Save.

The Muscle
HP: 2 Cond: Uninjured and pissed off

"What the FRAK!" Claw's brain made a crazy ricochet inside her skull as her huge mech was struck. The metal groaned and there were all sort of alarms going off, but aside from leaking a bit of fluid in the leg actuators (which had absorbed the gravitic attack), The Muscle was still nominal.

"You %&#@ glorified stripper! I'm gonna bend you until you look like an Liefeld cover girl!!!"

OOC: Toughness check (1d20+12=15); no, hells, no... re-rolling. Toughness check re-roll (1d20+12=16) Jeez! At least with the +10 it's just enough to make it.
