Does it have to be the abilities of horror supernatural creatures? I'm fine with that, but I got the idea to play someone like Eli from "Book of Eli" - could definitely see him slicing up some zombies 8). His faith in that movie could be replaced with something like extrasensory perception, and his blindness could be a side-effect of him gaining his powers.

Still looking at concepts, but what you just wrote had that screaming into my head.

I actually have no idea as to a type of mythical creature to use.

Mind giving me some ideas, Belial? I'd go for more of the creature, less of the undead. Though... doing a vampire thing vs. zombies might be cool. Though I doubt biting a zombie would be much fun. >.<

I something like this what you're looking for?

Agent Trevor Mannings

Trevor was just off his 28th consecutive operation when the dreaded orders came down from the chain of command. He'd put it off for too long and it had finally caught up with him: His orders were to take a vacation, relax, have fun. The CIA Operative didn't need such frivolities when there was so much to do, but orders were orders.
He tried to put a positive spin on it. He chose a resort that would allow him to keep up his training. He found one that had ziplining, rappelling, Archery, scuba diving, and ATV riding through jungle settings to keep himself sharp until he could get back to work.
Little did he know...

SAMANTHA COLLINS
Occupation: Archeologist
Nationality: British
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 118 lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Brunette

At the age of nine, Samantha survived a plane crash in the Himalayas that took the life of her mother. In perhaps the first story of her prodigious indomitability, she somehow survived a solo ten day trek across the Himalayan mountains, one of the most hostile environments on the planet.

Later, she joined the British Armed Forces as a Language Specialist, but quickly became disillusioned when she wasn't allowed to try out for the special forces, despite excelling in every aspect of the job. When she left the army, she earned a Master's degree in Archeology and Anthropology from the University of Cambridge in half the normal time.

Since leaving school, Samantha has become famous within the world of archeology by conducting finds in the most dangerous and difficult to reach locations in the world - usually without proper funding or equipment, relying on personal grit and determination to see her through.

After every major find, she looks for a nice vacation spot to relax for a week before heading off to another dig site, usually for months or years at a time. For this jaunt, she's selected a quaint, out of the way island that is known for its various outdoor activities.

COMPLICATIONS
Obsession: Being an archeologist and anthropologist has engendered a deep-rooted desire to know what secrets lie not only in the ground, but within people. She wants to know why they act the way they do.
Rivalry: Samantha doesn't work well with others. If anyone begins to succeed around her, she does whatever she can to one-up them.
Thrills - Motivation: Samantha survived one of the world's harshest environments when she was nine years old. Everything since then has been to try and replicate that challenge.

OK, here we have Daniel "Diesel" Davies

PL 4: 60 pts

STR: 4, STA: 3, AGI: 3, DEX: 0, FGT: 2, INT: 0, AWE: 2, PRE: 2

Skills: Athletics: 8 (4), Deception 6 (4), Intimidation 6 (4), Perception 8 (6)

Advantages: All-out Attack, Daze (Deception), Diehard, Equipment 2, Fast Grab, Great Endurance, Improved Grab, Fearless, Power Attack, Prone Fighting, Close Combat 2, Attractive

Equipment: Cell Phone (Smart Phone), Flashlight, GPS Reciever, Leather Jacket (Leather Armor) (5 free points)

Defenses: Dodge 4, Parry 4, Fort 4, Tou 4, Will 4

Complications:

Disability: Dan has a 'trick' knee. It will fail him randomly while exerting himself reducing his movement by half for the scene and causing him to fall prone if he was moving more than his normal speed.

Motivation: Thrills: Dan is an adrenaline junky that was bored to death with his endorsement deal at the resort, he'd recently taken up skiing the restricted slopes and spelunking to fill his off time.

Reputation: Before his career ending injury Dan was known as a hot head, a womanizer, and using steroids. Anyone who watched the news or sports television watched his very public fall from fame.

Daniel was a rising MMA star 2 years ago, he had fame, skill, and women. That all ended with a blown ACL complicated by an inability to heal due to steroid abuse. This came out very publicly a few weeks after his injury. Typical for a young star he was broke, unemployed and underskilled at anything other than fighting.

His agent found him the gig here doing celebrity endorsements for time shares at the resort. He's been doing it for a few months. He likes the gig as far as it goes, but spends most of his time thrill seeking around the resort trying to recapture the feelings he had as a professional fighter.

Wow, PL 4 is not a lot of points.

At any rate, I think I've captured the general idea of what I set out to do. Build and background above are complete.

Hello! if there is still room I would like to post for interest as well.

I'm interested in playing something along the lines of an auditor, sent to the island to investigate some case of fraud, embezzlement or corporate espionage by an organization with authority.(leaving it open in case you want to make it important to the story, if not, maybe a Bank or something, there paranoid) He is specially trained for his career, able to preform acts of stealth if needed, he is also trained with computers.

My image I have in mind for him, lets call him Peter Pallid, is a stealth and intelligence based character, who survives mostly threw wit and avoiding confrontation. In a fight he is probably the weakest team member, but with is decent stealth, and Technology, he can get the group past locked doors and threw security systems.

Personality: Peter is cold, he seams unattached to people and seams to hold no interest in the emotions of others, causing him to have few friends and people to bond with. he takes his work seriously to the point some think it is all he cares about, and they would be right, when Peter focuses on something its all he thinks about, and he obsess over it until he can complete it and with his career there in no completion, only an endless string of puzzles sent to Peter Pallid door.

For Powers I was thinking of a frozen corpse, or something along those lines, if not maybe one of the wailing dead? not an undead specialist but I think they would fit well, well that or a ghost in the machine.

60 pts

Abilities (18)
Strength: 1
Stamina: 0
Dexterity: 1
Agility: 2
Fighting: 0
Intelligence: 3
Awareness: 2
Presence: 0

Defenses (7)
Parry:0 + 2 = 2
Dodge:2 + 2 = 4
Toughness:0
Fortitude:0 + 2 = 2
Will: 2 + 1 = 3

Skills: (25) 50 pts
Acrobatics +6 (+8)
Athletics +6 (+7)
Insight +5 (+7)
persuasion +4(+4)
Expertise – Auditor +4 (+7)
Expertise – Bureaucracy +3 (+6)
Expertise – Current Events +1 (+4)
Investigation +6 (+9)
Technology +6 (+9)
Treatment +1 (+4)
Stealth +8 (+10)

Advantages: (10)
Beginners Luck
Benefit(Security Clearance, auditor) 1
Contacts
Defensive Attack
EIDETIC MEMORY
HIDE IN PLAIN SIGHT
FAVORED ENVIRONMENT - Offices( You would be surprised how many fights go down here)
JACK-OF-ALL-TRADES

Equipment 2
Light Pistol (6 pts) Ranged Dmg 3
Flashlight
Lock Release Gun
Multi-tool
Laptop Computer

Offensive:
Close Attack: +1 DC 16
Pistol: +1 DC 18

Abilities 30 + Powers 1 + Advantages 8 + Skills 17 + Defenses 4 = 60

Complications:

The Puzzle: Peter Pallid is obsessed with Puzzles, things to challenge his mind in new and interesting ways, finding embezzlement has been a favorite for years now, but with recent events something might spark his obsession, causing him to risk the well fair of others to find a solution to the challenge presented before him.

Example: The team needs to restart the power, but to do that they need to reroute the lines leading from other areas of the hotel to the desired region a way Peter's obsession might form might be a need to figure out how to power all the hotel, going so far as to collect metal from around the island to make makeshift wires to finish the circuit, all the while convincing his team of the importances of this task, and holding a grudge on anyone who says otherwise,(until a better Puzzle shows up or he finishes)

Too Many Secrets: Peter is a Auditor, meaning he has seen things, important things, things that if certain people knew about them, could cost some people a lot of money, and some people there lives, Peter keeps a lot of things secret, and others want to keep it that way, even if it means shutting up the empowered auditor.

Thats what I got for him so far, if there is room let me know!

Before I start looking over builds, here are a few things you should know;

Creatures
As your power flavor/type you can choose creatures that are dark and/or undead. Something with an icky death factor that will be a complication. Like, sirens and lamias are hot but they also eat people. Vamps are more World of Darkness than Twilight Saga. Ghouls eat flesh - and aren't particular about where they find it. Banshees are scary and cause death. Wraiths are in style in Mordor for a reason. Basically, find a dark creature myth for inspiration and run with it.
This does not mean the creature you are has to be obvious. You can have a perfectly human-looking character who is actually a flesh-eating ghoul or a destruction-feeding bloodfiend.

Ability scores
I'm gonna point this out again since I am seeing a lot of high scores; an average score is 0 for humans. Each point above that means an effective doubling in that ability, especially flavor-wise. A strength score of 3 for example is already olympic competition level and a stamina score of 3 means you can take hits by joe average the axe-wielder as well as he can take punches. One of the reasons you guys find the PL4 points too few is that you get multiple above-average abilities. And I've yet to see any ability penalties i.e. the strong guy with below average intellect or the homecoming queen with lower than normal awareness. And please, no inhumanly high scores.

Equipment
It is a good idea to have at least a rank in the Equipment advantage. Bedroll, rations, a flashlight, a smartphone are good things to have in a zombie apocalypse - or when you're in an island resort where you supposedly go to see tropical island wildlife up close. A fireaxe or a gun can be even better.

I didn't find the points too low, just had to build within what was available. I also statted up an MMA (Mixed martial Arts) fighter to excuse the higher stats. As for powers the extra clarity leads me to want to do something Lovecraftian as a basis of power. But you know me, I like twisted, freakish characters.

Perfect Shot: Jessica loves photography, it is her one true passion in the world. She still photographs everything and everyone. She is willing to risk it all for the perfect photo.

Gone to her Head: The fame, the money and adoration Jessica recieved from her big story sent her to cloud nine, and made her feel like a big shot. She bought an expensive house, and an expensive sports car, and she lived a life of luxury, expecting to get another big break. But that break never came. The money ran out, and she lost the car and house. Now with every year that passes without another big story, the more and more she realises she is no longer important, and people have moved onto bigger and better things. This drives her to take greater and greater risks to try and recapture the wonderful feeling she had, and give her a rich life style once more.

Fear of Snakes, Spiders, and other Creepy Crawlers: Jessica hates these things, and has to make a will check to be able to touch or even be near such things. This means she may scream in terror is she spots things like rats.

History:
Jessica grew up in a fairly small town, with a normal family, her father worked at factory, her mother worked at the library. Jessica however did not get along well with the other children, she loved using her mother's camera to take photos, which she discovered, had a natural talent for. She had more joy talking photos of other children playing than actually playing herself.

She photographed everything, and everyone in her life. She joined the high school yearbook committee, and school newspaper just so she could photograph everything at school. A requirement for being on the newspaper was she also had to write articles. She quickly discovered she had a talent for digging up juicy scoops.

Jessica was called weird, and odd, but it never bothered her. When she got old enough to leave town, she left with only a back pack and a camera. She made her way California where she made a living as a paparazzi until she caught her big break. Jessica happened across a police officer accepting a bribe from some drug dealers.

With careful investigation, she soon realised the corruption ran deep within the one precinct. She quickly found out through various information sources that there was rumours of connections with the Russia mobster. Realising the danger of what she was doing, Jessica began taking a self defence course. She even purchased a small firearm and took lessons on how to use it.

Over the next two years she slowly built a solid case against them, using her paparazzi money to grease wheels for documents.

When she was satisfied she had enough dirt on every cop in the precinct to put the mall away, she brought it to the largest newspaper in he city. Over night, Jessica Stark became world renown, and more than three dozen arrests were made.

Jessica won several Journalism awards that year for her work. Since then however she has had little luck, and has only be able to get small stories.

She heard a rumour that the current President was having an affair at a tropical resort, and with nothing else on her plate, she hoped a plane to see if she could catch him in the act.
