as i suspect Omega Girl is unfamiliar with the Wild Cards franchise (and the 2e supplement of the same name), Barnett was a meta-hating bible-thumper of the first order, who honestly felt that those with powers were the spawn of satan. among the disasters that typied his term, were the psychotioc 7's coup, and stranding 9 children in hell to prove his insane troll logic.

in 2011, a 'mystery assassin' came within a hair's breath of killing barnett by breaking his neck in a daylight assault. the Sentinels of Liberty & justice were the hero team assigned to catching this perp, even though about a week or so after the attack, higherups in AEGIS quietly dropped the case

And during the finale adventure of Avengers, the sight of a giant extradimensional demon squid fighting a giant God Robot in the skies over earth was too much for Barnett's kicker and he died. And it was decided since nobody had done more to foster ignorance, hate, and stupidity among people in recent history, Barnett would be made the new Commander in chief of Hell.

Complications
Addiction: Like most Illitid, Afterthought must consume the brain of a sentient being once a month in order to properly function. Luckily Doc Steel usually has her covered with cloned brains.
Enemy: Afterthought has an enemy in Ryandar the Starkiller, the husband of the Asari Afterthought took over in ceremorphosis. Ryandar has been driven mad by grief and rage, and will stop at nothing to destroy Afterthought and anyone who dares get in his way.
Prejudice: Afterthought is a Mind flayer, one of the most feared and hated creatures in the universe.
Responsibility: Afterthought is now the ward of Denma, the daughter of the Asari who perished when Afterthought underwent ceremorphosis. Although they are not technically related, Afterthought loves her like a daughter and is very protective of her.
Secret: No one on Earth knows Afterthought is a Mind flayer

I will put a detailed story up later. Short version she is a mind flayer who was born with a conscience, so she decided to become a do gooder. Eventually crash landed on Earth and was found by Doc Steele, who helps her out on Earth.

I may need to revise her, I don't think she's very good statwise, needs a little work perhaps.

Ok here is the backstory:

Illise Cthon of the House Nnemos was born like most typical mind flayers; An immature tadpole swimming in the elder brain, attached to the brain stem of an imprisoned mortal to fuse with and mature. Unknown to the Illithid, Illise's victim was a Lor Mentat of no small ability. The resultant creature was Mind Flayer through and through, but retained the Mentat's strong sense of justice and compassion. Shunned by her peers, Illise was forced to flee her peoples mobile space fortress in an escape pod. The pod eventually crash landed on Earth and was found by Doc Steele.

Illise spent months studying up on Humanity and earth culture with the help of Doc Steele, and developed several psychic abilities unknown amongst common mind flayers, in particular telekinesis and the ability to project an illusion around herself. In addition, Doc Steele created a secret identity for her: Anaise Carlson, a bookstore owner in Bay City. In exchange, Illise agreed to become a super hero and join the local Sentinels chapter when the old team disappeared. (On another note, the elf pictured in the third pic is Anaise's Elvish girlfriend from the imageria, who Anaise met via her plane shift ability).

EDIT: Modified afterthought: removed communication from her array, and dropped some skills and fast grab so I can have it on its own in the Illithid physiology container.

Edit 2: Changed how suggestion works, added 4 ranks of ranged combat with the Telekinesis, and added the charm monster power to her array.

Edit 3: Added +2 to ranged combat for Telekinesis, bringing it up to +6.

Edit 4: Added 4 ranks to ranged combat for TK, its now up to a full +10

Edit 5: Gave her ultimate effort: Mind reading power check.

Edit 6: Increased mental communication by one rank. She can now mind speech up to one mile.

Edit 7: Added Mental blast 6 (Distracting flaw) and complications regarding Denma and Ryandar.

Edit 8: Added The illusion power and a rank of improved initiative.

Spiral Madness: Using Extra Effort requires Stargirl to engage her secondary Spiral Engine in order to surpass her limitations as a machine. However, doing so requires her to use emotions she has not yet mastered, meaning she will act far more instincual. Not quite a Berserker rage, but she's more likely to take a direct solution.

Weakness: Gravitic Engine: Constructed of lesser materials than the previous models, and having most of her abilities rely on her less shielded singularity core, means powers that dampen gravity powers will leave her weakened.

...so, yeah... I was drawing a blank on the oneshots, figured you guys has something you'd like your characters to check in on and I'd work with what you'd come up with
