How would you build a flying broom?

Postby TheManagement » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:44 am

I'm building a Green Goblin-type villain, but instead of riding a bat shaped glider, I want to put him on a flying broom... but I'm not sure how to build that in game terms.
Thank you,

Flight with the Platform flaw would still work, i'd imagine.

I'm not familiar with the Platform flaw... is that in the core book?

Yes. It's on page 110 of the Hero's Handbook as one of the sample flaws for the flight effect. What it means is that if the rider gets hit hard enough (fails a resistance check), or gets grabbed by a grounded opponent they can be knocked off their means of aerial transit.

I should note that the page number is for the M&M Hero's Handbook. I'm not sure if DC Adventures will have it on the same page. However, it shouldn't be hard to find; just look for the flight effect in the powers chapter and there'll be a section with sample flaws. Also you're welcome, I enjoy being helpful even if I'm only able to help a little.

If they can have the method of flight removed from them, that'd become a Hard to Lose Device (Removeable in 3E terms, I think). This might include a Complication if their method of flight keeps moving without them when they're knocked off such that they'll have to move to get to it before remounting it.

I'm not sure how well removable would work, as it's remote control and will just fly back to him.

Platform flaw then. If you get knocked off you can reactivate.

*shrug* Then a Complication only, for when it's locked in another room, or maybe a Quirk of Power Loss if you let people Counter it at will by snatching it, or if it takes an action to summon it to him.

I think Platform and Device can both be applied to the Goblin's Glider, just make it the first level of removable, not the second (easily removable) version. Yes, you can knock him off it, but with his remote control feature on it, he can easily 'reactivate' the power. Taking it away from him would be something you could do out of combat, taking the glider and his control device away from him.
