Favored Enviroment Twice?

Has anyone done this before? If so was it too good? Is it just a bad idea in general?

I was thinking for characters who are masters of the sea(Like that aquaman guy) who should be able to dominate his opponents in the water.

Or is the one application of this advantige enough to simulate that?

In my experience, the benefit granted from the advantage is quite enough to be a real terror to be reckoned with and rightfully feared by all within a reasonable PL range.

Anything greater might better be built as a higher PL character who only hits his 'true' caps in the given environment. Think Hulk, but instead of getting angry, you get into the sea!

One application of the advantage already automatically makes the character +1 PL higher. That's alone is enough to make the fight favor the advantage user with normal luck and similar stats. Throw in other advantages (such as Swimming Power, appropriate Immunities, or Environmental Adaptation - Aquatic) and the Aquatic hero should have a pretty hefty advantage in his own realm.

Nope. It makes them 1 PL higher in either attack or defense, not both at once. Hence + 1/2 PL in total.

Uhh, I suggest you read through that again

gaining 2 ranks of attack or defense increases your PL by 1 since you are normally able to increase both by 1 for each pl.

Yeah, but PL is not a fractional thing. Its all or nothing. Someone's who PL Y in only one category, be it offense, one active Defense and Toughness, Fort and Will, or one Skill, is still PL Y. They might just not be a terribly balanced PL Y.

Not to be argumentative, but by your reasoning isn't any more valid than Belial666's...

Technically, Favored Environment isn't a factor in a character's PL at all... Fractionally or otherwise, it doesn't factor in...

Functionally, however, it increases a character's capabilities by ½PL...

I think Favored Environment should only be taken twice if it's two different environments, and then, preferably when the two environments can't overlap. Like if the Sea Hawk took Favored Environment (airborne) AND Favored Environment (underwater), I wouldn't see a problem since one can't be airborne AND underwater at the same time.

I think multiple instances of the Favored Environment for a single character dilute the "Cool factor" of having the advantage, so as a guideline in my games I discourage it.
