A couple of questions about the Arsenal stats...

Postby therealtony » Thu Aug 30, 2012 11:59 pm

I understand why his Throwing Knives is +16, but why are Short Sword and Batons also +16...

Shouldn't they be +11 like his Unarmed Combat?

I am also curious what was the logic behind giving Arsenal a 15 in Dodge and Parry, seems kind of high compared to the likes of Batman, Nightwing or other characters more renowned for their martial arts/melee combat ability.

No, +16 is correct. He has Fighting 6, Close Attack 5, and Close Combat: Arsenal skill 5 for a total of +16.

As for why is Dodge/Parry are so high, I would assume (I'm not the writer obviously) that it was simply done so he hit his PL10 caps. The writer didn't compare him to those other builds or anything. Or maybe the writer disagreed with how the Batman/Nightwing/ect... builds were done and made Arsenal how he felt he should be without being constrained by those other builds.

Ah right...thank you Murlglow...

OK...I know my evaluation of the DCA write-ups is based upon my subjective opinion, but there are a few write-ups IMO that a little jarring in contrast to how they have been portrayed in comics...

A couple of examples are Arsenal's very high dodge/parry, Green Arrow skill with the bow seems very low (+15), while Katana has a +17 in throwing her shuriken? (not even her primary skill!) That doesn't seem to sync up with how either of the characters are portrayed in the comics...

I know I can adjust these write-ups as I see fit, much like with Arsenal, I am very curious as how the powers that be came up with these results...
