Grabbing multiple targets

Postby Dracomancer » Fri Oct 26, 2012 6:31 am

I'm trying to stat up my first M&M character (a liquid form grappler with elongation and extra limbs) and am having trouble wrapping my head around some of the mechanics. I think I understand how grabbing a single opponent works; I just need help figuring out how to initiate a grapple against multiple targets as part of the same standard action. The Multiattack extra would seem to apply but I'm uncertain about how to apply its cost or what effect it'll have on a standard attack routine? Can someone clarify the mechanics for me, perhaps with an example of combat? Many thanks for any help.

Personally, I'd say Affliction (hindred/immobile) with the Area and Concentration extras, and the Instant Recovery and Grab-based flaws... no fuss, no muss.

I don't have my book with me at the moment. How would this work differently than a regular grab attack?

It would make it so that when you grab the first guy an area of effect Affliction would trigger that would hinder/immobilized targets (based on their resistance check of course). The problem with it would be that it's not actually a grab you're doing tot he rest of the targets (so no Extra Limb, Elongation, ect... bonuses would apply, but then that's normal for any type of build you do, Area or Multiattack), Instant Duration would mean it would it automatically is recovered once you stop maintaining the effect (though they can still make resistance checks in the mean time), and Concentration duration means that it requires a Standard action each turn to maintain.

Just buy an Area effect for your Strength attack (Grapple), just like how you would modify an Unarmed strike with Pentrating, Multi-, Split, etc...
