I admit, I treated Callie Summers with something of a 'Raven' from Teen Titans persona because it just seemed to fit so much. Just the whole idea she's really bored and serious.

(And I assumed that AEGIS and the governments of the First World nations knew he existed, which is what that referred to)

I hope you can comment on my Doctor Sin too.

FYI, if no one got the references....

It was Jonny Quest and Big Trouble in little China.

Sea King

Theasus was always a bit of an awkward fit in the surface realm. His early career had him being taken less than seriously by everyone but his peers in the Freedom League. Part of this had to do with the fact that he was raised as a Prince of the Realm, so his reserved manner was mistaken for confusion.

Sea King was not very impressed with the majority of the world above. This isn't due to the issue of pollution, though certainly its an obvious issue to Atlanteans when half of the ocean life in the world has died out over the past fifty years. More, it was the fact that so much of the surface world seemed to live lives of pointlessness.

Coming from Atlantis, Theasus lived in a society that exalted the warrior arts and where battle against the Deep Ones or other threats was to be expected. Given how little was known of Atlantis at the time, many underestimated just was a savage warrior rested underneath the Sea King's pleasant exterior. Had not the Centurion been there to deal with most problems non-lethally, then the figure might have left some truly terrible rampages in the wake of their battles.

Frankly, the past couple of decades haven't been good to the sovereign and his attitude has considerably soured. Theasus' Half-Brother in the full blooded Atlantean Typhon, whom had long ago been banished to practice his demonic worship amongst the Deep Ones, has repeatedly menaced Atlantis while numerous Atlanteans have attempted to challenge his rule. Sea King has even been forced to fight Neptune himself on several occasions thanks to the god's decision to start interacting with the world again. The latter incident was inspired by the fact that Sea King no longer holds the gods in reverance after seeing what Hades did to his friend Daedelus.

The current state of Theasus is an angry, morose, and impatient man whom tends to deal with threats in a very ruthless manner. While an excellent King, he never thought he'd have to deal with such constant resistance from every quarter of the populous. Even his working on advancing their understanding of Preserver and Ancient Atlantean technology to make them a superpower has met with resistance (partially because he's recruited Daedelus and a few trusted surface dwellers to help).

Thetis, his daughter, doesn't realize that her father sent her away to also get out of the way of Atlantean politics. Theasus believes that Duncan Summers will actually instill more values akin to the kind that the original Siren gave him than the court. He also believes the Claremont academy will teach her the warrior skills that she needs in order to properly rule Atlantis. This decision was enough to break up the King's marriage to Atlantean noblewoman wife. Theasus would privately likely to remarry and has expressed more than friendly intentions towards the Freedom League heroine Siren on her visits.

Those heroes whom have business in Atlantis may find the King difficult to work with. Part of this is he's fallen out of practice to dealing with people in a courteous manner and the other fact is that he's bored out of his skull on the throne. The only thing that has kept him from just outright abandoning Atlantis (aside from the acknowledgment that Typhon would take it over in a heartbeat) is the occasional acknowledgment of his martial accomplishments. Sea King would never stoop so low as to ASK to involve himself in an adventure but he decidedly will TRY to. Even if its not politic at the time and he is a full "bull in a china shop" school of punching out problems.

Yes, that was a rather funny reference. Poor old Sin, not getting to unveil his aging Lothario prowess. . .

Oh, and Charles, your characterisation of Callie is fine, I just thought it might be fun to buck a few stereotypes and make the "Dark Avenger of the Night" character more of a cheerful eccentric with a chronically low threshold for boredom!

Your characterisation of Sin seems spot-on to me.

One more thing (Just a little one, honest. . .)

In Agents of Freedom - Buy it, you konw you want to - the world knows that Overshadow is long dead, and that SHADOW itself is no longer a threat to world security. All except AEGIS, who suspect the organsation persists, and believe it to be a credible threat. Not even they know, however, that Overshadow is very much alive, and SHADOW as much of a threat as ever. . .

And AEGIS thinks that Nacht-Krieger is the new Overshadow.

Yeah, I just got it in the mail and read it. It doesn't work for me. The book is awesome but the work on SHADOW didn't impress me.

May one ask why not? I rather enjoy that section of the book.

For me, Overshadow was the secret fear in the entire world's heart. Yeah, he's dead and secret didn't work for me. It's just the way I'd played him from that point before.

The man's arrogance would never allow him to be forgotten.

I'd love to hear your comments on my latest post Libra. It's made with some of my new information about how the governments works in the Freedomverse.

contrary to libra's assessment, that overshadow profile is pretty scary if you think about it.

it's not that Overshadow's bored

it's the impliation of what the bordedom means if Overshadow carries through with starting over

Thanks,

I imagine whatever "waste" he uses to mop up the entirety of the Shadow organization would possibly approach one of the World Wars in his view.

That's not even bringing up whatever he actually decides to replace Shadow with.

I've been greatly enjoying this thread, and I had a few ideas about Dr. Metropolis brewing in my mind...
