I like the idea of a clique of high tech rednecks, but I doubt there would be any stoners at Claremont. Duncan Summers is someone I'd see being pretty firm on the no drugs policy. (As opposed to the no sex policy, which basically boils down to "don't get caught, and don't do it out in public. That means you Whoop ant and Mega Gnat! I don't care if you're three inches tall apiece, you aren't allowed to have sex on the school lawn!")

As for a GLBTG clique, I do recall a while ago I posed the suggestion of including Whateley Academy in the crinoverse, but someone (I think it was Charles) didn't like the idea. Nevertheless, I have started reading it again inbetween wild card novels (when I can find the time and aren't playing video games or my PBP),

So what you guys think? Team Kimba at Claremont?

thanks to OtakuPC and well several other fics by metroanime/greyalla shard/kestral I'm familer the MasterPC program as well as Spells R Us, thru another fanfic auther I'm familer with the MAU and all of these have introduced me to the Whately Academy, so I know a bit about it, and honestly as kitchensink as WA is, I dn'na think it really messes with a full on supers setting. so if Team Kimba is from that(am familer with the WA, haven't read it all that extensively) is from there, not sure how well they'd fit into Clairmont. so gut reaction is to skip them. though my other gut reaction is as messed up, convoluted and just plain weird as WA get's, perhaps they're more appropriate for Castle Mass?

and on a totally tangical note, while there have been some new releases that are still in circulation, where are you haveing luck finding Wild Card novels? or did you already have em? cause while I can put in requests in a couple of used book stores around here(assumeing they're still in business in this area) that have done me well in the past, the prices there can be prohibative as can the prices on amazon when I've done searches there.

Actually, now that you mention it, Mass Castle would be a better fit for Team Kimba, since Mass Castle is basically Whately on steroids (Also, I never thought I'd hear The MasterPC and Spells R Us mentioned on THIS message board, hoo boy,)

Well, I got the first four books from Better World Books, a used book site with free shipping in the states and a wide selection. They didn't have volume 5 however, so I ordered that one used off of Amazon.com for like ten bucks (I know the prices for books seems outrageous for Amazon, especially for older books, but you can usually find a used book that's dirt cheap.)

Re: The Crinoverse 2 (Punch Out!)

Punch Out!

Since superhumans are banned from participating in regular sports, there exist numerous independent sporting leagues dedicated to super powered fighters. Xtreme! is by and large the most famous and successful, but not the only one; there also exist such organizations as the Mutant League football and Hockey Leagues, The King of Fighters tournament, and the World Circuit boxing league, a Boxing league that focuses on Super powerful boxers who use unorthodox and downright bizarre fighting styles. The present reigning champion of the World Circuit is Little Mac, an aptly named boxer from Brooklyn who is able to consistently stomp on guys bigger than he is due to his speed and skill.

Mac is a top notch boxer, he's also a secret agent for AEGIS, who travels the world fighting international crime under the auspice of being a Boxer.

Yes, when not clobbering his enemies in the ring, he's clobbering SHADOW and PHANTOM agents and saving the world from super powered terrorism. Along with his mentor Doc Louis, Mac has saved the world on numerous occasions, even receiving plastic surgery and going under cover as a different Boxer briefly.

Of course, many of Mac's rivals in the boxing world are villains and secret agents in their own right, including Nick and Rick Bruiser, a pair of cyborg clones created by PHANTOM, Mr. Sandman, the International Crime Leagues number one boxing star, the South Pacific born Joker King Hippo, and the french super spy Glass Joe (Who, while a crummy boxer, is a really REALLY good secret agent).

A little later, I will run down the main Punch out opponents and how they fit into the crinoverse.

yeah probably shoulda noted the generally NWS nature of MasterPC and Spells R Us. OtakuPC is generally WS as is some of the stories that show up on anime addventure for SRU for those that go hunting. MAU is of the same nature, though a bit more benign and well the web has eaten those stories.

and yeah, WA level of weirdness deffently seems more approprous for Castle Mass, doubly so as my vague memories of WA was it was a place to teach how to handle new bodies, powers, and the like as opposed to Claremont where the object does seem to be as much training youngsters to actively use their powers, likely heroikly as opposed to Castle Mass where the emphasis seems more training young metas to control their powers and perhaps beable to blend into society.

apparently prices fluxtuated towards good again. and if I can find "like new" at that price I'm pretty much willing to pay it, but generally I was finding that price on just 'acceptable'. so thanks for hte headsup on a new place to search.

While not from Punch Out, I'd through Balrog/Vega from Street Fighter in there.

Unfortunately Barlog is already dead in the crinoverse.

And his Japanese name was M Bison (as in Mike Bison).

I scarcely have much in the way of details, but I was thinking about the LGBT clique and a redneck/working class/gearhead faction while at my job earlier today.

If you or any of the other regular readers of the thread would like to expand on these, please feel free.

The Stonewall Warriors (LGBT):

The Androgenie: A refugee from the Otherworld, the Androgenie can (and does) shift between male and female forms at will, almost pitying the vast majority of mortal beings who experience existence as only one sex. Much older chronologically than the other Stone Wallers, the Androgenie is still a stripling among its' own race. It can shapeshift to any humanoid form, teleport, regenerate from any wounds not sustained from cold iron or magic, and perceive/sense all other magical beings. The Androgenie can grant wishes, but these are done by granting the wisher short-term boundless luck, which results in the wish being fulfilled through a string of fantastic coincidences; the wish is granted literally, not in the spirt it was uttered.

Blaque: A techno-path clad in a power-armor suit which actually seems to swallow any light that falls upon it, rendering it fulgin, a shade deeper than black. This is due to the armor's energy-absorbing properties, which allow Blaque to power the armor's systems through ambient electromagnetic radiation. Blaque is out of the closet, but is a "straight-acting" gay teen, as opposed to his far more effeminate boyfriend Whyte. Blaque is an advanced student academically, and supplements his Claremont studies through "extra-credit" work with Daedulus.

Lavender Shadow: The great-grandaughter of the Golden Age Phantom Lady, she is the most militant of the Stonewall Warriors (somewhat ironic, as she is also over-the-top feminine in terms of hair, makeup, etc.) Lavender Shadow is armed with her predecessor's blackout projector (modified to project violet light), invisibility cloak, and IR lenses, tricked out with modern-day enhancements such as a taser bracelet, mini-crime lab handbag, sleeping gas perfume spray, etc. She also has a device of unknown origin which allows her to transform into a 2-D purple sihilouette; it is suspected Lavender Shadow stole this from a Warehouse 13 type government locale, but no one is talking so far. She was trained by her family in martial arts, gymnastics, stealth, and industrial sabotage techniques.

Penny Lane: A joker-ace, Penelope Lane's skin and soft tissues resemble living copper; this grants her a degree of invulnerability and augmented strength. A belt gifted to her by Blaque allows her to generate a potent electic current through her metallic hide. Penny is also a gifted roller-blader, able to perform numerous tricks and stunts. She is as "butch" as Lavender Shadow is femme, though the two are not girlfriends. She is indeed related to the more well-known Lanes, including Lois Lane, Margo Lane-Cranston, and their common ancestor Lazarus Lane (El Diablo).

Whyte: The albino Whyte is another of Vlad Dracul's offspring, an attempt by the Vampire King to create a scion worthy of The Dragon. To this end, Dracula seduced a female Ultiman, an audacious move indeed even for the Count; his alchemy-enhanced intimacies managed to impregnate the Ultima Thule woman, but her cosmic energies allowed her to break free of his influence shortly after becoming pregnant. Knowing her offspring would be targeted as unclean and impure should she return to her people, Whyte's mother turned him over to the Castle Mass staff early on; he transferred to Claremont because Whyte wanted to experience life in a less secluded environment (remember, Castle Mass is a refuge as much as a school). His dhampir qualities combined with a measure of his mother's cosmic-energy control make him one of the most powerful students in Claremont's halls.

That's it for the Stonewallers; I'll post the Blue Collar Crew when I have them a bit clearer in my mind.

Punch Out! Characters

Here are some of the boxers who participate in the World Circuit, and their relationship to Little Mac.

Glass Joe: A French Boxer, Glass Joe has the reputation of being the worst boxer in the World Circuit, maybe the worst boxer to ever live. He's never won a single match, and he is considered a joke by his peers.

In truth, Glass Joe is actually a spy for the French Government. Using the Boxing cover to travel the world much like Little Mac does. While he is as bad at combat as he seems, Joe is an expert at sabotage, subterfuge, disguise, stealth, hacking, and other non combat oriented matters. The only problem is he can't fight to save his life (literally) so when things do get hot, Little Mac is the one who has to save him.

Von Kaiser: A boxing coach at the military academy in Berlin, Von Kaiser has more than a few screws loose, while not a terribly good boxer, he is an excellent trainer, and sometimes works part time at Claremont as a trainer.

Piston Honda: A Japanese Boxer, Piston Honda is actually the brother to E. Honda, the famous sumo wrestler. Unlike his boisterous brother, Piston his all business, and considers Mac his greatest rival.

Don Flamenco: A Spanish Boxer and pretty boy, Don Flamenco specializes in tiring his opponents out by taunting them into attacking recklessly before he attacks. Actually good friends with Mac outside the ring, although ignorant of his true job.

King Hippo: King Hippo is the ruler of Hippo Island, an island in the south pacific. Years ago, the islanders were exposed to the Wild Card virus, and due to an irregularity in their genes, everyone on the island became Jokers. Since then, Hippo Island has become a vacation spot and refuge for jokers who want to be able to walk around unmolested. King Hippo, a simple and uncomplicated man, joined the World Circuit for the chance to travel the world and experience new things. Although he is a fierce and imposing warrior in the ring, he is actually pretty laid back the rest of the time. King Hippo is actually a Joker Ace with super strength and weight (Kind of like the Syrian Joker Sayidd, except King Hippo can support his weight easier).

Great Tiger: A mystic from Mumbay, Great Tiger is actually a member of the White Lotus society sent to infiltrate the World Circuit and use it to go on missions on their behalf. He is an ally of Mac outside the ring and often assists him against mystical foes and threats.

Bald Bull: One of the more popular fighters, Bald Bull is a turkish boxer and metaman with limited super strength. Dangerous and unpredictable, he has a special dislike for Little Mac.

Soda Popinski: A Russian Super soldier born of Cold War Surplus, Soda Popinski draws his power from special "soda" (actually a mutagenic steroid coded to his own DNA) which he chugs down before and during matches. In any other boxing organization this would be blatantly illegal, but in World Circuit all is well.

Mr. Sandman: The former champ before Little Mac put him to bed, Mr. Sandman is sponsored by the International Crime League, and was trained by Balrog before his untimely death. When not boxing, Sandman often provides muscle for higher ups in the ICL,

Super Macho Man: A buff and tan pretty boy and all American Face, Super Macho Man (Yes, that's his real name, he had it legally changed), is actually an arrogant and pompous jerk who loves to flex his muscles and make an ass out of himself. He considers Mac his greatest rival, although Mac barely even notices him.

Gabby Jay: Glass Joe's "Protege", Gabby is actually an elderly retired spy from the fifties who acts as Joe's mentor and helper on spying missions. While he used to be a good fighter, age has eroded most of his combat skills, and he's only marginally better at fighting than Joe.

Bear Hugger: A huge Canadian boxer, Bear Hugger actually was trained by a bear in combat, and is a deadly combatant, he is a good friend and rival to Mac.

Piston Hurricane: A Cuban boxer, Hurricane is actually a protege to Piston Honda, having mastered his boxing style. He fought Mac once to try and avenge his mentors honor, but failed to beat him.

Bob Charlie: A laid back Jamacian Boxer, Bob Charlie is a minor foe to Mac.

Dragon Chan: A Hong Kong Martial artist and boxer, Dragon Chan is also a Chinese spy, and a member of UNISON and the Tiger Squad, who has often butted heads with Mac, both in and out of the ring.

Masked Muscle: A masked Mexican Wrestler, Masked Muscle specializes in dirty fighting such as spitting and head butts.

Aran Ryan: A psychotic Irish boxer, Aran Ryan is the epitome of dirty fighting; using horseshoes in his gloves and other dirty tricks to get ahead. His tricks always fail against Mac though.

Heike Kagero: Another Japanese Boxer, Heike is a member of the Black Hand and a foe to Great Tiger and Little Mac.

Mad Clown: A huge fat clown from Italy, Mad Clown uses circus tricks in wrestling and is surprisingly effective. He has sometimes teamed up with clown themed villains such as Wildcard and Black Harlequin as muscle.

Narcis Prince: A British Boxer and a member of PHANTOMS social elite, Narcis is the opposite of Mac, a spoiled and pampered nobleman. Very strong and very vain, he hates Mac for daring to strike his precious face.

Hoy Quarlow: An old man and martial arts master, Hoy is a deadly martial artist who barely uses any boxing techniques at all, instead relying on martial arts attacks.

Nick and Rick Bruiser: A pair of clone cyborgs created by PHANTOM, the Bruiser brothers are among the most formidable fighters in the World Circuit. They are Macs deadliest foes both in and out of the ring.

Disco Kid:Another Boxer from the Bronx, Kid was actually Macs best friend growing up, and they remain so in the World Circuit. Disco Kid knows about Macs double life, and tries to help him out when he can.

Hey Crinos, I love how you were able to do so much with the Punch Out! characters, given how little there was to the originals in the game (and its' attendant sequels). I have to admit only marginally recalling some of these, as I only played a few times, way back in my youth.

My younger brother was a big fan, though.

Still, just to finish up my thoughts on the Claremont Academy cliques part of the thread:

The Blue Collar Crew:

Built Bertha: A "Bang Baby", Built Bertha has superhuman strength, stature, and durability-as one can guess from her codename, she's put together like a proverbial brick outhouse, a cross between a world-class female powerlifter and a distaff sumo wrestler. Her augmented metabolism enables her to heal faster than a normal human, as well as metabolize gases, poisons, and toxins. It also forces her to eat far more than an ordinary person, and makes her hypoglecymic. Built Bertha wants to make her mom (a teacher) and dad (construction worker) proud of their daughter; she's at the school to study hard and become a world-class heroine who can someday join the Freedom League, Patriots, or Sentinels of Society.

Gears Girl: The daughter of an obscure, mostly forgotten Bronze Age hero known as Overdrive (a member of the teen hero team The Grenades), Gears Girl is an automotive engineering prodigy, as well as an absolutely outstanding motorcyclist. She's a fanatic fan of NASCAR, motocross, Carrie Underwood, and all things Oklahoma (her dad's birthplace, though neither he nor she grew up there). Gears Girl came to Claremont a few months after the death of her father; she was acting out at home and school, fighting crime using a specially designed motorcycle. Her mother simply couldn't handle her rebellious exploits. Gears Girl has an attitude and an edge, stemming from her father's sudden death from a heart attack; she especially despises SpartaCorp, whom she blames for the stress leading to her father's death (Kenneth Kane bankrupted her dad's design firm by stealing ideas and then suing him for patent/trademark infringement).

Jury: Jamie Ronky is the son of George P. Ronky, a onetime criminal gadgeteer now serving a lengthy prison term for conspiracy, trafficking in illegal weapons, receipt of stolen goods, and collusion in various other crimes. Jamie's mother's bad taste in men continued after her divorce from his father; she promptly took up with Benjamin Jahmoka, a once notorious hitman/kidnapper/organ smuggler, now believed slain by the vigilante Silencer. Jamie grew up in an emotionally abusive, neglectful home until his mother was declared unfit and his "step-father" had to go on the run when his cover as a Good Humour Man was revealed. It was Jamie who had collected the evidence sent to the authorities, using spying devices he built from odds and ends; he inherited his father George's nearly superhuman expertise with electronics.

As Jury (short for Jury-Rig), he wields his father's old "Mixmaster" weapon (which has various beams and functions), as well as floating "spy eyes" which can fire taser beams, steel-mesh nets, and electro-magnetic pulses. His baggy costume contains numerous components, an integrated wireless computer interface, tools, and items such as smoke pellets and ball bearings. He's a legal ward of Duncan Summer while he attends Claremont, though the headmaster is no easier on him for that.

Sidewinder: Another joker-ace, Sidewinder has scaly-red skin, a powerfully developed upper body, an incredibly flexible spine-and atrophied, useless legs. He's at Claremont on scholarship; his loving, supportive parents begged Claremont administration to help them place their son, as their West Virginia coal-mining town simply didn't understand or accept his condition. Sidewinder's arms and shoulders allow him to crawl/slither at superhuman speed and scale sheer walls, as well as giving him enhanced strength. His hide is as tough as chainmail armor. When necessary, he travels in a sidecar built for him by Gears Girl, one which can detach and maneuver on its' own. Of course it is equipped with Sidewinder concussion missiles.

Solo: By night, Dominic and his twin brother Nicholas were Double-Down, costumed crimefighters who kept their Cleveland neighborhood safe.By day they were ordinary teenagers who studied hard, excelled at sports, and worked part-time jobs to help out their single mother. Both were exceptional athletes, naturally talented gymnasts, hand-to-hand fighters, and tacticians able to out-fight and out-wit three orindary men apiece. But they came up short when they had to face off against the Nihilist, an actual supervillain. Dominic ended up dead; Nicholas carries physical and emotional scars across his chest which will not heal. He's determined to train up to the level of a Blackwing or Raven. Then he will take track down the Nihilist and avenge his brother.

Nice work on the Punch Out! characters, Crinos! As I recall, the Bruiser brothers (especially in the SNES version) were downright unfair with how strong they were. Fast, nigh-impossible to hurt, and able to drop Mac with like three hits. Not to mention the fact that they could make one of your arms useless. They'd make mince-meat of most of SHADOW's normal agent-level foes.

Yeah, I did this mainly because I got the first two Punch out games on Wii virtual console. So far I can get as far as mad clown on Super Punch out, and to Soda Popinski on the original (I just beat Heike Kagero for the first time, basically its just a matter of fighting these guys so often you memorize their patterns and can knock them down).

Also, when I reintroduce Franks wife, I may just do an adventure where you guys go to Hippo Island.
