Crinos wrote:alright, we're back. I've been giving it some thought, and as per suggestions I'm going to cover the newest Claremont Students.

BUT FIRST! I'm going to cover...

Claremont Graduates

Yep, Claremont Academy is going to be a very different place this year. In addition to the new faces, many old faces will be gone; Most of Next Gen, as well as several of the Alterniteens, have graduated and gone their separate ways. Indeed, the only member of Next Gen left is Bolt, who is currently looking to assemble a new Next Gen.

Poor Bolt, he doesn't realize he can go on to be his own superhero now.

But anyways, time for a 'where are they now'

Megastar: Has finally done what he originally set out to do and join the Freedom League.... as a reserve member. Still its better than nothing, and he loves paling around with his old buddy the Bowman. He is also attending College.

Good for Megastar, all the benefits of being a superhero and none of the drawbacks! At least he was smart enough to avoid Mighty Man's fate.

Indeed. Its basically a dream come true for him.

Nereid: Has returned to Atlantis (along with Aquaman) in order to help run her father's kingdom and finish her education in Atlantis. Magni has joined her, and has officially be knighted by Sea King.

What a cute couple, a pity she and Relentless didn't work out.

Well, as an Atlantean royal, Nereid has the option of taking multiple consorts. So pulling an Oberf style relationship isn't out of the question. :D

Seven: Is presently working with the Covenant and is a junior member of the core Seraphim team. She is also in college in her spare time. She has hopes to one day return to Claremont as a teacher.

OR SORCERESS SUPREME!

That's always an option

Sonic: Is going to college, as well as continuing as an Urban super hero. He is presently working on an outreach program for other Lincoln based super beings to better protect his home. He has also had some team up with other prestigious African American heroes, including Icon, The Harlem Hammer, and Goliath.

Plus a cartoon show.

Navagatrix: Since she is an unaging robot, she has opted to stay at Claremont permanently.

Probably a good choice, The Jane Jetson look she's adopted is annoying to poor Duncan though.

Changeling: Has officially come out as a Grue, and is currently looking for Grue refugee's living on Earth to one day build a force to help free their people from the Meta Mind. Her and her followers have formed New Gruen, a commune consisting of peaceful Grue defectors and refugees. She maintains contact with her old friends as well as Pseudo, and she is presently beginning a metabolic change which will cause her to eventually become a new Meta-mind.

Will she then spawn LEGIONS of super hippie girls?

An entire race of them.

Relentless and Dauntless: Are presently at Mass Castle, and part of The Tomorrow Society. Relentless has recently discovered she has a crush on Madame Tomorrow, but is unsure how to tell her. Dauntless and Ultimatum have become thick as thieves.

Man, Relentless has serious issues with unattainable women doesn't she? Or maybe Madame Tomorrow just doesn't like the boys and that explains why she and Lucien never hooked up.

Dauntless and Ultimatum are probably the new Spiderman/Human Torch.

More like the Booster/Beetle of this world.

Elite: has been called in by Doc Steel to become the leader of the Sentinels Bedlam City. He feels right at home.

Bludhaven has its Dark Knight!

Whoop-Ant and Mega Gnat: Whoop Ant has married his high school sweetheart Mega-Gnat (whom he got pregnant, much to Dragonfly's outrage) and has joined the Sentinels of Society. Whoop-Ant now has a new power; he can grow in size almost as large as he can shrink. He is currently trying to help find a way to get Mega-Gnat back to full size before she gives birth.

Hank Pym jokes abound.

They're more like Beak and the second Angel. And heaven help anyone who tries to hurt Whoop Ant's lady

Gimmick the Gadget Girl: Much to the relief of all involved, has graduated. She now works with AEGIS full time, much to their horror.

Gimmick is probably waiting for the paternity test results for Ultramind 2 and Black Wing II to come back, much to their annoyance.

"BIOLOGY DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!"

Barnstormer: is dead. He perished stopping a meteorite from destroying Millennium City. He has a statue in Liberty Park.

*SALUTE*

Cantrip: Cantrip's chronic lying about being Witchcraft's sidekick finally caught up with her when she was captured and tortured by Witchcraft's evil sister Talisman. Although she escaped, she was deeply traumatized. She is presently staying at The Rosemont center, and is one of the collected.

Poor girl.

Kid Samson: Suffered a crisis of faith when he accidentally killed an innocent man during a super battle last summer. Although he was cleared of charges, he was still haunted by the ordeal, He eventually reconnected with his faith, with a little help from Father Squid, by joining the Church of Jesus Christ Paragon. He is presently studying for priesthood.

I wonder if he and actual Samson have ever had a talk.

Ms. Crone: Is in college, and has become a Solo hero in Freedom City. She forsee's a future where she will become the next headmistress of Claremont when Duncan Summer finally retires.

Alright, next time I cover the new meet, both at Claremont and Mass Castle, as well as the two new Claremont hero teams: The Initiative and the Titans.

I can't wait to see the Mass Castle ones!

Seriously, Gravity control is broken. I think I've mentioned a player in the group I ran had it. We basically came to an understanding, I don't get pissy with them, and he doesn't use it. He doesn't use it, and every villain they fight doesn't conviently have anti-grav tech.

Hey, I'm just going by Mathemanic's stats according to comicvine and rapsheet; he manipulates reality via numbers, and he shoots numbers into peoples heads.

Mathemaniac, as statted by jabroniville

also, last i checked, Mathemaniac doesn't do reality warping per se, he's more stuffing your head so full of the big numbers you just shut yourself down rather than try to process it

Oh, I wasn't aware someone else had statted him.

I basically statted all the thunderbolts myself (Well, modified existing archetypes up to PL 12), Mathemanic was the only one of them I made from scratch (And of course he got KOed right away)

I was originally going to use Flashback (mutant duplicator) as the final member of the Thunderbolts instead of Swordsman, but a duplicator would have been way too complicated for a team battle.

Tomorrow Society Teams

As noted in the Crinoverse game CSI Los Dios, every teacher at Mass Castle, every senior member of the Tomorrow Society, has their own personal team that they lead, teach, and guide. Teams are made up of students, and tend to possess some common theme. Here are a few of the teams and their teachers:

The Children of Darkness
Leader: Madame Tomorrow
The Children of Darkness are Madame Tomorrow's team, consisting of demons and half demons like herself. It is Serena's hope that she can help turn these children away from their darker heritages, and in doing so help her overcome her own fate. The team consists of:

Raven: Unrelated to the Freedom City heroine, Rachel Roth is the child of a mortal woman and the Dark Lord Trigon, raised by the monks of Azar, Raven's powers are empathic in nature, and tied to her emotions. As a result she comes off as cold and aloof, as she is afraid of unleashing her emotions and harming others.

Magik: The Kid sister of Piotr Rasputin, The Tomorrow Society reservist Colossus, Illiyana was kidnapped as a child by the demon wizard Bellasco, and partially turned into a demonic sorcerer like him. After killing him and taking over his dimension, Magik returned to the Tomorrow Society a changed girl. In exchange to her magic and soul sword, she is also the dark lord of the realm of "limbo", and has the ability to create "stepping stones" which can take her and others anywhere in time and space.

Trauma: Described in my writeup of Bedlam city, Trauma was finally recruited by the Tomorrow Society. He is actually the child of Nightmare, one of the Lords of Winter. He is actually training to become a therapist, using his powers to help others confront their fears.

Carmilla: The offspring of an entropic master, Sara Waite started life as Micheal Waite, a sickly but successful horror novel writer, who one day manifested his inhuman nature and became a she, and gained shapeshifting and life absorbing powers, as well as mystical lust based powers.

Lilith Aensland: Serena's "sister", is actually an offshoot of entropic Master Morrigan Aensland. Lilith is probably the only legitimately evil member of this group, but luckily she's really bad at it, so what the hell.

The Blackguard
Leader: Lucien Drake

The Blackguard is the resident "Bad Boy" team of the Tomorrow Society, made up of borderline villains and flat out villains. Lucien keeps them on a tight leash.

Kevin Levin: The matter absorbing member of Ben Ten's team, Kevin is the second in command of the Blackguard.

Klarion: Klarion is a young mystic and refugee from a puritanical colony of mystics who live beneath Manhattan. Klarion, along with his familiar Tikal, are potent mystics who can merge together into a monstrous beast known as the "Horigal".

Spinnerette: The "Evil" Spinnerette is actually a mortal worshiper of the Entropic Master Lolth (Why Lolth would take a non dark elf as a worshiper is anyone's guess), who turned herself into this. After being defeated by Spinnerette, she was remanded to her parents custody due to being a minor (yes, I'm serious. She's 16 and she looks like that. This is how she looked before her transformation.) Her parents enrolled her in the Tomorrow Society in a hope to curb her evil tendencies.

Phantom Kid: Current nemesis of perpeptual preteen powerhouse Sovena Red, Phantom Kid is a young metaman with phasing, teleporting, and energy draining powers. Abilities which made him more than a match for the much more powerful Sovena. It was only through guile and subterfuge that Sovena claimed victory (tricked him into trying to kiss her). After his defeat, he was placed with the Tomorrow Society (either that or jail).

Melter: The second superhuman with that name, Chris Colchiss is a metaman with the power to melt things, be they bullets, the ground, or people. Attempting to become a solo hero, he accidentally melted several innocent people before he fought the Tomorrow Society, who recruited him and are trying to help him control his powers better.

The Pinnacles
Leader: Phantom Archer

The Pinnacles is the largest team, with eight members, it is also the team with least emphasis on physical power; with most of its members having minor or non combat oriented powers. As a result, the Pinnacles focus on mastering more mundane fighting skills and information gathering, making them the top support group at the Tomorrow Society.

The Tower Prep Kids: Four of the Pinnacles were originally forced students at Tower Prep, a secret Project Icarus facility raided by the Tomorrow Society recently. Their membership includes:
Ian Archer: Young kid with authority problems, a combat precog who can anticipate events and react to them.
Gabe Forest: Class clown and slacker who can convince people to do anything by talking to them.
C.J Ward: Type A personality girl with the power to read facial expressions and discern their thoughts and emotions. Has parlayed this into master fighting skill with help from Phantom Archer.
Suki Sato: Quiet and bubbly girl with a voice mimicry deuce.
Ian is the Pinnacles second in command.

Elixer: An omega class healer, Joshua is a gold skinned metaman Joker. He can also use his powers to kill; causing massive damage to cellular tissue. When he does this, his skin turns black.

Prodigy: David Alleyne is a metaman with the power to temporarily absorb the knowledge of anyone around him. On his current team, that makes him one of the best hand to hand fighters around.

Jericho: the child of the super assassin Deathstroke (who is also an instructor at Emma Frost's hellfire academy), Joseph Wilson is a mute with the power to possess others via eye contact. A pacifist, he is nevertheless an expert fighter.

DJ: DJ is a female Metaman who gains different powers based on what music she is currently listening to. She always carries a full ipod with different tracks.

The Legends
Team Leader: Ymir

Ymir's team, like him, is made up of larger than life style heroes, some of whom share his mythical and/or Scientific bent.

Valkyrie: Deputy team leader

Amadeus Cho: Super intelligent and analytical teen, was pursued by Project Icarus after he won the "Mastermind Excello" contest. Occasional ally to Hercules and the Incredible Hulk.

Ariel Val'Sarghess: A young Drow elf, Ariel is different from most drow females in that the enrolled as a wizard rather than a priestess. She is also a natural shapeshifter of some skill. Ariel was hand selected by Loki to attend the Tomorrow Academy and support Ymir. (She's from here (caution: Parts NSFW)

Cyborg: Victor Stone was an all American Athlete whose parents, ASTRO Lab scientists, wanted him to pursue academia more carefully. During a failed experiment which summoned a monster from the Annihilation zone, Victor's mother was killed and he was badly injured, requiring him to become a cyborg to save his life. Initially filled with self loathing, he learned to accept his new state at the Tomorrow Society, and is now rather upbeat and as boisterous as Ymir.

Gully: A young girl from Faerie, Gully is the daughter of the legendary hero Aramus, who gave her a pair of magical gauntlets which gave her superhuman strength before sending her to Earth. Gully now seeks a way back home, unaware that her father has been corrupted by the Dark Undermaster and now serves as his general.

Alright, taking a break, but will BRB with the teams of less prominent Mass castle teachers.

Tomorrow Society teams part 2

The Muscle Heads
Team Leader: Bruiser

Head by former Force Ops member Bruiser, the Muscle Heads are basically the hulking body builders of the team. Known for their raw muscle and flexing power, but also their hearts of gold.

Ultimatum: Deputy leader

Dauntless: Teachers assistant

Rage: Described in my Falconcrest writeup, finally revealed he was a teen in an adult body, now at Mass Castle.

Pantha: Super strong female metaman luchador. Only female on the team.

Hulkling:Originally believed to be a metaman patterned after the Incredible Hulk, actually the alien offspring of Takisian super soldier Mar Vell and a Tsaavong princess. In a homosexual relationship with Wiccan (described in a bit). Shapeshifter with super strength.

The Female Furies
Team Leader: El Gato

All female team led by former Force OPS member El Gato.

Relentless: Deputy leader and TA.

Cyclone: Maxine Hunkel is the grandaughter of Golden Age pulp Heroine Red Tornado. Possessing wind manipulating powers, Maxine is very excited about becoming a super hero.

Bombshell: Amy Allen was subjected to experiments by Project Icarus similar to Captain Atom, giving her a metallic coating and the ability to fly and project radiation. A former villain, she eventually became a good guy.

Aquamaria: A Latino joker mutated by bang baby gas exposure, she is permanently stuck as living water.

Stature: Cassie Lang is the daughter of the silver Age hero Ant man, who was killed in the Terminus Invasion. She inherited his metaman powers to alter her size, and was recruited to the Tomorrow Society.

Team Kimba
Leader: Father Sebastian Rojas

A group of teens who all had their genders altered by their breakouts, they were placed under the care of Father Rojas, the schools minister and theologist (He thinks its because he himself is gay, but does not dwell on such things). Team Kimba is pretty much described in the above links, with a few points:

Fey: Is a reincarnated Lord of Summer, and one the Dark Undermaster is interested in killing/capturing for some reason.

Tennyo: Still looks like Ryoko, even though Ryoko does exist in this universe, the explanation is that Ryoko (and the rest of the Tokyo Defense League) are all major celebrities, so it makes sense Billie would know of her. The real Ryoko once tried to hunt down this "impostor", but that was all straightened out and now they're friends.

Bladedancer: naturally, Chou's sword has a number of the Tomorrow Society on its hit list, including Madame Tomorrow, Lucien Drake, and Father Rojas himself. Rojas and Chou have an understanding at least; if the demon in Rojas ever gets out of control, to the point where it threatens the innocent, then Chou can do what needs to be done.

Phase: The Goodkind family are the chief anti-metaman power in America, and the primary funders for the Institute for Human Advancement. They are at odds with the Church of Humanity (Helen Goodkind is convinced Sydney Smythe is a closet metaman) and only tacitly support the Church of the Seven Thunders. Dr. Emil Hammond, the cruel anti metaman scientist who initially experimented on Alya when s/he broke out, is actually the twin brother to Project Icarus Scientist Hector Hammond (who, if you're following my PBP, just had a breakout of his own.)

The Truth-seekers
Leader: Xorn

A group of mystically inclined students, the Truth Seekers follow Xorn, a mysterious Chinese metaman rescued by the Tomorrow Society who gains power from the star lodged in his brain. His team is philisophical in nature, focusing on quiet contemplation rather than raw power. But when they do fight, they fight to win.

Wiccan: On of two twin sons of Wanda Maximoff, mystic daughter of the Israeli hero Magneto, Wiccan is a sorcerer in his own right, and also the boyfriend to Hulkling.

Zachary Zatara: Little brother to stage Magician and Covenant member Zatanna, Zatara is a snarky spell caster and rival to Klarion.

Gwen Tennyson: Finishing her training at the Shambala vale, Gwen Tennyson is now a student at Mass Castle. She is also the deputy leader of the team.

Luna: Wiccan's cousin, Luna is the daughter of the superfast metaman Quicksilver and his ex wife Crystal of the Inhumans, She is an empath who has the power to read the emotions of others and see the truth of what people say. This has led her somewhat jaded and cynical, but she's still of good moral stock.

Traci 13: Daughter of Dr. 13 and girlfriend to the Blue Beetle, Traci 13 practices "Urban magic". which she claims draws from the same power as Dr. Metropolis. She is currently learning to draw on other power sources.

The Outcasts
Leader: Bloat

After an attack by the Dark Undermaster, Bloat and the remainder of the Rox Island Jokers were forced to leave the imageria and return to the material plane, where they were given sanctuary by Madame Tomorrow. While Bloat still bears some emnity to the human race, he has mellowed since his heydey, and now leads a team consisting of some of the strangest Jokers and metamen at Mass Castle.

No-Girl: A victim of the villainous U men, No Girl was a telepath who had her entire body harvested for parts, leaving only her brain in a jar.

Wildebeest: A creation of UNITY, Wildebeest is a genetically engineered warrior who can turn from a tiny baby like creature into a hulking brute at will.

Anole: A gay metaman with a reptillian appearance, Anole has enhanced attributes and can regenerate and blend in with his surroundings.

Jello: A poor girl with no sense of self, Jello is a shapeshifter who cannot hold her own form. She tends to transform into a mirror of whoever is paying the most attention to her at any given time.

Metamorpho: Rex Mason is a teen metaman with the power to assume the form of any element he chose. He is the deputy leader of the team, and is fiercely loyal to Bloat and protective of his teammates.

Glob Herman: A humanoid ball of wax with a human skeleton and organs inside, Glob is made of liquid wax, and can heat stuff up by touching it. He, Metamorpho, and Jello are currently in a love triangle (after a fashion).

The New Age
Leader: The Winter of Love/Holly Meltzer

A newly formed team (as In, just a few days ago), Holly Meltzer is the newest teacher at Mass Castle. The wife of Frank Meltzer, the famous Los Dios cop (better known as Snarl), she was bestowed the power of frost dragons by Loki. Holly has been called "The last American Hippie" by her husband, and she has made it her goal to teach her charges that their powers need not be used for violent or destructive means.

Mettle: A Hawaiian youth, It was discovered after an accident that he had indestructible metal under his skin. As a result, he was kidnapped by Project Icarus, who removed all his skin, leaving him with a horrific appearance. He was rescued, along with the other members of the New Age, shortly before Holly Meltzer joined the group.

Veil: A young girl who was modified by Project Icarus to transform into various different gasses. Unfortunately her body is losing coherence and one day she will simply dissipate.

Striker: The son of a fame hungry mother and a politican, Striker's powers manifested when he struck out against his pedophile manager. He has electricity manipulating powers.

Hazmat: Was given the ability to generate radiation and various toxins from her body, forcing her to wear a suit to protect those around her. Almost manipulated into suicide by the Astronomer (and killing almost all of Freehold in the process), she was saved by Frank Meltzer.

Finesse: A polymath with the ability to learn new information easily and process data with ease, Finesse is contemptuous of Holly due to her inexperience as a heroine. Despite this, she is deputy leader.

Reptil: Possesses a medallion which allows him to take on the attributes of dinosaurs. Was tortured by Project Icarus to see if he could be made to fully change but it didn't work. Is a HUGE fan of Frank Meltzer and petitioned him to become his sidekick, but was rebuked because A) Cops don't have Sidekicks, and B) Frank was afraid he's become a target for the Astronomer, especially considering his similarities to Kid Dinosaur.

Slight issue: The Terminus Invasion happened in 1993. Thus Cassie would have to be one of the fairly old students, minimum, and that's having never known her dad.

Funny enough, DC recently made an informal team of Traci, Zach Zatarra and Black Alice.

And, having gotten approval from crinos

Urban Legends

This is a true story, I swear. It happened to a freind of a friend of mine.

every city has their hidden stories, stories so ridiculous or impossible that there's a ring of truth to them, however stretched out of proportion, the kind of story you hear late at night when people try to creep each other out. here are just a few

so, there's this guy, see? sharp dresser, reeks of money, power and something else. says he can give you anything you want, free of charge...yeah, i'm talkin bout the magic mystery shop of mister infamy, but here's the thing. he don't want your soul, this is all his idea of charity, ya'know anybody who walks in his shop comes out the same person they were, whether they say yes or no. thing is, those deals of his, he only offers if what you're askin will bring misery down on somebody, doesn't matter who. Road ta Hell's paved with the tar of good intentions, and Infamy's the guy on the steamroller, if ya catch my drift."

"Who is mister Infamy? hell if i know, but i heard from a cousin who heard from a pal who got from tommy rhymer who got from a drunk angel that Infamy used to be an angel for the Man Upstairs, up until ol mister big kicked satan down to hell. no, i ain't saying infamy's the devil. the way the angel told it, infamy saw what was coming and thought he could clean up once god and the devil took each other out, or at least kiss-ass of whoever was left standing. thing is, they both found out, so they worked him over, stuffed him in a trash can and just kicked him down the hill square out of the afterlife, no heaven or hell. least, that's the way i heard it.

"you wanna know where the crazies comefrom? the truth is they met the Puppetman. guy can read all minds everywhere, but he can't get it up, so he just picks some schmuck, jumps his mind and gets his rocks off through him. but it ain't enough, never isafter all, they're just puppets. what else can he make em do?"

"Ah that ain't the puppetman, that's The Last Jumper. you can track it by the crazy people, who say they're someone else when caught red-handed. TLJ's real body died in da rox, so its gotta keep jumpin, always staying one hop ahead of the feds an ol man death."

the gnomes of zurich, the bavarian illuminati, zodiac cartel and rand corporation? fairy tales and hokum. the real secret ruler of the world is The Labyrinth. built by greek guys god knows when, they built the cities, their will keeps m going and 2/3's of the world work for em wether they know it or not. bull market? that the labyrinth deciding to test the trickle-down theory. just don't cross the Labyrinth, man, or they'll send the minotaur after ya. 12 feet tall and burnin like the scarlet colors of hell.

there ain't no minotaur dummy. that's willy pete, the california boogeyman. an he's only 7 feet tall. word is he was just some bum who beat the devil at whatever for a bottle of the good stuff and to screw the girls of his dreams. devil had the last laugh though. the afterparty left such an impression nothing else could match up, and the bum's hunger, thirst and hard-on burned him up, made him like a fire elemental or something. least, that's the version they tell in fabletown. now Willy Pete prowls the back alleys and the condemned warehouses, always burnin, always hungry, always horny. but being living fire, all turns to ashes with just a touch. So what he does now is he prowls for capes, see? they're the only things that last long enough for him to eat or screw, and he's got a thing for eyes, ya know what i mean. but willy pete? he's still a bum, always watching for johnny law, so he just goes after the garbage capes. y'know, the nobodies, the d-listers, people y'ain't never heard of and never will. word is to keep him off their backs, the smart ones offer up their minions to him before pulling up stakes. so, don't rat on your boss, or Willy Pete'll getcha.... Why'd they do that? well, the way i hear it, and i ain't sayin from where, somebody talked ta Willy Pete and lived, if ya call what was left livin. he said that Willy said he was fishin for The One That Got Away, but all them henchmen look alike to ol Willy Pete's burnin' needs...

"the good news is there's a woman who can turn you from a freak back into a nat by screwing you. wanna know the better news is? she's good looking too... ya gotta be a joker to appreciate it."

"Yeah, centurion died, no denying that. but the way i hear it, he's the only guy to turn down the pearly gates, instead walkin the earth, setting right stuff what goes wrong. lost cat finds its way home after months? centurion walked it back. train crash but everyone walked away? Centurion just put his hands out. its true, i swear, my cousin's brothers pal's ex roomie's gay freind said centurion talked him out of sucking down a bullet.

I would think that the original Bavarian Illumanati was opposed to the Labyrinth as it was a gathering of Enlightenment thinkers in Bavaria. Taurus seems to me one that liked the existing power structure. Its easier to control a few people then alot of people. Of course once the original was crushed, Taurus created another one because he likes irony and its an easy way to recruit people who are ambitious enough to find it.

Now, Zodiac I can see fitting in the Crinosverse since they are the more colorful version of the Maggia and other various crime syndicates.
