I have made a deal with super artist Storn Cook to create the cover for this thing. How's that for a reason to pledge? And if you like that, how about a copy of the book signed by Storn? Limited quantities are available.

I originally started this project because it seemed like something I, myself, would find appealing. But it's been difficult to build momentum since the holidays. Is there anything in particular folks are looking for? Is there anything about the project that is off-putting? With more than a week to go, there's still plenty of time for a last minute finish. But that's not going to happen without some momentum. If just a tenth of the people who have viewed this thread would pledge something, we'd be there. With the PDF available at low cost and virtually all of the content Open Game content, I had the idea this is something the community could benefit from for a lengthy part of the M&M 3e lifecycle.

Feel free to say anything, critical, encouraging, requesting something, anything.

I've made a pledge, but I'll admit that it's not a huge one because I only play 2E currently.

Honestly I just don't need a book of pre-made enemies right now.

Some of the creature archetypes are built in such a way as to be playable PL 8 and 10 characters, with the correct point totals. One example is the hound archon.

Currently 17% funded... a good way, but a way to go, and not much time!

Dang, thought I had til 8 PM to pledge for this. Logged on to try and pledge $50 and missed it by 2 minutes. Would have pledged sooner but had situation with unknown expenses. :|

Also one thing which kept pledges down was the fact that Prodigy Duck and Jabroniville both have a lot of such creatures stated up in threads which you can get for free. With a project like this, it is best to know what is already out there, including free things on message boards or fansites. Heh

Despite a valiant last minute fundraising effort, the project didn't make. That's too bad. However, the main casualities are the art budget and any near-term possibility of doing a softcover print run. The book is now shifting gears to become a budget-conscious PDF release.

Jsut FYI, the last playtest is being rolled up into the alpha release. This is in the works to be completed in the near future.

I was wondering why the funding option was only up for what appears to be a mere month. I am rather uninformed in the process of publishing, having never actually published anything myself. The only thing that I can think of having published was an article for Pyramid many, many years ago. That article was really just presenting some house rules that I had been using in my gaming group for a year or so prior to submitting it to Pyramid.

I guess what I am getting at is, aside from wanting to get paid for your efforts (who wouldn't?), why was the time frame so short? I don't know how most customers are, but sometimes I will have no interest in a given product, only to find that it is what I want a little while later. Why couldn't the funding be open while you are working on the product? It would allow more questions to be answered, more feedback, and would allow people to become more interested.
The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything.

Just about every kid today wants to be Batman, Spiderman, or Superman. Maybe if we were better parents they would not want to become orphans.

Basically, so I could know if it was justifiable to commit myself full-time to the project, and whether I should start lining up artists. Most successful RPG kickstarters run 30 to 45 days. In this case I needed to gauge the investment of a large art budget, the level of interest in a print run, and in the interest in a project that involved writing up over a hundred stat blocks. Specifically, I needed to know if the interest was strong. As it turned out, there was some curiosity, but not a great outpouring. I pulled less than $100 of pledges in my last week as it was.

Hence the backburnering of the project, and looking into low cost art options. As it happens, I stumbled onto a great Kickstarter opportunity that has furnished me with good art for most of the entries. If the PDF sells well enough, I'll revisit the idea of a more ambitious print version.
