First off, I have to say this is a great product. As far as usefulness, accuracy, and style, AF is better than Crooks for me. Thanks guys! :D

I do have one niggling question. Was Seventh Son supposed to have the Toughness feat? I can't seem to make his Damage Save add up. It looks like it's off by 2 points. The thing is, so much of your stuff is perfect, I'm more inclined to think I added up something wrong.

Also looks to me like the Seventh Son is missing the Toughness Feat. Either that, or the damage save need to be reduced by 2, because 16 CON & +3 Super Con only gets him a +6.

You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. Oh, and web enhancement #1 will be up a little later this afternoon, also.

I'm not where I have access to the book or the files at the moment, but I'll check this evening. It's entirely possible. Skimming through a copy this past week, I found a couple of things that are gonna have to be errata'd. "D'oh!" moments are especially galling when you're pathological editor-types like me and Dave, but I suppose with something this size it's true that something will always slip through.

Forgot to mention it, but I also thought that this was an excellent book.

Somewhere else, someone already mentioned it, but the NPCs in AF should work great with a Freedom City campaign.

I especially liked the heavy hitters: Preatorian, Sepulchre & Serpent Queen.

Preatorian nicely fills my need for a "Kang the Conqeror" type.

I hope this sees the sales it deserves so we can get a golden age supp. as well.

I just wanted to agree with folks that The Algernon Files is a well done book and an excellent Superlink product. I particularly found the character formatting very accessible and easy to read.

Great job, guys!

I love the Algernon Files!

Postby Puroresu » Tue May 18, 2004 7:34 pm

I absolutely love The Algernon Files! My favorite characters are The Serpent Queen and Ice Queen. I also liked reading the history of the Sinister Circle.

I was thinking of having my C.O.B.R.A. Commander character have the Serpent Queen as his benefactor/patron. Maybe he could refer to her as Serpentina.

The artwork is wonderful and I love the format on the character stats. I can't wait to get my hands on the Golden Age book! Keep up the great work!

Since I still have not been fortunate enough to receive my copy :x , I'll just ask a few questions to satisfy my curio sity until it arrives.

1) Are the characters presented in the TAF part of an on going campaign, or were they specifically created for the book?

2) Are all of the characters listed on the "benchmarks" covered in the book, or are some of them going to be presented in one of the future Critical Security Updates?

3) If the book sells well enough for the TAF Vol II and the CSUs to be produced, what type of time frame can we look forward to?

Question number...
4) If you know the Superhero 2044 RPG. Do you think the base on the front of the book would work well for Hendrex Island?

Sorry about the wait. Just a little longer, we hope.

1) Not so much a played campaign as a "world" I've made up over the years. We thought long and hard about which pieces to include in the first book. We have enough to fill another 4 books this size without ever leaving the modern era, a good 2-3 sixties, and 2-3 WWII era.

2) Most of the characters in the benchmarks are in the first book. Since the benchmarks were put together seperately than the 1st book's selection, there are a few that will pop up in later books.

3) TAF Vol II is planned for 4th Q this year, with Superpunk to follow that 1st Q next year, and then to start the CSUs. Assuming we have the sales, of course. :)

Look in the section following the power descriptions that discusses making new powers. Machine Control is the example power created.

Don't worry, had me thrown for a little while too.

Any chance you could give us a brief overview of your world (history, government, foreign heros, etc.)? Or possibly some of the material that didn't make the cut?

And just a quick comment, if you all wish to continue to see high quality products produced under the Superlink banner, you need to support the various companies producing them. Bug the hell out of your local gaming/hobbie shops. Make them carry the material you want to see. I can't tell you the number of times I've seen M&M products show up in the store and seel out within a week or two, then the stores don't restock them. Stay on top of the various retail outlets, and let them know what you are intested in. It's the only way you and I will see some of the various products, mentioned here, produced.

I will now step down form my soapbox and return to the original topic of discussion.
