Well they are putting 60 years of events into these. And there are quite a few stories to tell from hobbit to lotr.

Hell, I'd take four movies. It's my all-time favorite book and the LOTR movies are right up there with the REAL Star Wars Trilogy to me. They can cash grab all they want as long as they do it right.

Initially I was indignant about this news. But, you know what, so long as these movies are good I don't give a **** if they're a bald-faced cash grab.

Well, I suppose they had to make the Hobbit into a prequel trilogy, so the war between LotR fans and SW fans could be on equal footing.

Everyone rushing out and seeing it this week?
On Saturday, I sat through the marathon of extended editions of LotR

I'm seeing it on Saturday. My gaming buddies and our extended group of friends and familes (150 of us all together) rented out a full size theater for a private showing. Looking forward to it. We all took a vote on how to see it and 2D won over 3D, but I believe we are seeing it in 48 FPS since the theater is new and state of the art with all digital projection, so that should be interesting.

This felt like a director's cut of a shorter movie. That said, I enjoyed the hell out of it. The dwarves didn't come off as a bunch of capture-prone pansies, and Bilbo seems far better suited to adventuring than Frodo. Some scenes came off as overly silly or goofy, but I seem to recall a lot of whimsy in the original book.

i dont know if its the same in every theatre but here
the music drowned the character's voice almost entirely

but i still loved it (i'll never look at dog sleds the same way ever)
Some people struggle daily
They struggle with their concience
'Til the end
I have no guilt to haunt me
I feel no wrong intent

Caught it last night. It wasn't bad. I am wondering what they are going to do for the next two movies though.

Saw it! Loved it!

It felt like Pete Jackson was making two movies and had extra material for an extended edition and just said "Screw it!" lets just make the extended edition the theatrical release. That said, I'm fine with it. :)

I was once again transported to Middle Earth. Can't wait for the next one. :)
