I'm largely willing to accept the Nimoy impression, as it can't be easy on the actress, and Fringe is already a show that seems fairly demanding. I mean the actress has, during this season, had to portray - Olivia, Fauxliva, Fauxlivia pretending to be Olivia, Olivia slowly being mindwashed into being Fauxliva, Olivia fully mindwashed into being Fauxliva yet slightly 'off', Olivia slowly degrading away from being Fauxlivia, Olivia simply pretending to be Fauxlivia... and now also William Bell possessing Olivia.

The words "I'm the dude playing the dude that's disguised as another dude." jump to mind.

And they just lost me with that season finale. Without the chemistry between Peter and Olivia the series is dead to me.

I'll be surprised if this change is a permanent one.

Yeah, I'll be surprised if that's permanent.

Of course, there's also the paradox issues.

I think the writer's really dropped the ball on one thing in terms of time travel, alternate dimensions, and paradoxes. At the end of the episode they reveal that the "First People" are actually Walter and company in the future, that they made the device and sent it through a wormhole into the prehistoric past. Key problem being... this could not have occurred in the alternate universe, because it was already destroyed. Thus the other side should never have had their own machine... and yet they did. So Walter and company COULD NOT be the origin of the machine. I mean I suppose they could throw in that someone an unstable wormhole to the past duplicated the machine and sent the same machine (and here we mean THE SAME) to both sides prehistoric pasts... but really it felt like they just outright overlooked this.

Any thoughts on the new season? I'm not keen on it.

I'm not feeling the missing Peter storyline. IMHO, they could have ended the season with the bridge between two worlds and let everyone deal with their conflicting interests they had built with Peter over the years and let them go crazy with that. This feels like a reboot undoing all the character development of the last few years. Meh.

I've been "meh" about this show since day one. Last season elevated it slightly but I just don't find any of the cast except Walter interesting enough for me to want to watch them. If I didn't own a DVR I'd be watching Supernatural and not even missing this.

This season and Orange Universe has been a bit weird, though I think that some of the odd parts have just been there to show that this isn't simply Red Universe and Blue Universe joined at the hip, it is a different universe entirely with an alternate past that doesn't exactly match with either of the two prior universes. Of course this simply has to be with the erasing of Peter from the timeline because the interactions and actions of Peter and Olivia from childhood on up basically wrote many of the major points of Blue and Red universes relationship to each other. Personally, I'm interested to see if and how the show intends to explain great gaping holes left in the old history by removing Peter entirely. I mean, the causality chain of the prior history falls apart without Peter.

Damn, this season has left me cold. its like a bad reboot. We cant deal with anything we've built up for three years because now we have to deal with the erased and restored but we dont know who he is storyline with Peter. Meh. Wasnt Peter's dynamic with two Walters and Two Olivias [and maybe finding out there was a kid with Fauxlivia] enough source of potential drama? Meh

Additionally, it isnt a a cool hunt for Easter eggs for me seeing whats changed in the Peter-less universe [Olivia hasnt met other Cortexepahn victims? Other Broyles is alive?]; its just annoying and distracting. YMMV.

These unexplained changes (Did Olivia grow up with Nina in this new continuity? The conversation between them this week sure seemed to imply that.) are getting on my nerves as well.

Even worse, if a bunch of random things have changed on this side, does that also mean that a bunch of random things have changed in Walternate's universe as well? Ugh.
