PREVIEW: POINT PLEASANT
Download clips from the premiere episode
The first part of the new supernatural-themed series POINT PLEASANT is set to make its debut tonight on Fox stations nationwide. Things kick off with the mysterious arrival of a beautiful woman (Elisabeth Harnois) who washes up ashore on the beach of a small seaside community named Point Pleasant. Tended to by the local doctor and his wife (Richard Burgi and Susan Walters), the woman (who is named Christina) begins a search into the history of her mother, a Point Pleasant native, and the mysteries surrounding her family background. As she begins to unwind the secrets of her past, Christina also slowly begins to pierce the shadows lurking behind the background of the town's citizens.
An interesting connection between POINT PLEASANT and the now-ended BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER TV series is the involvement of two of BUFFY's writing/producing staff on Fox's new series. Marti Noxon, who served as BUFFY's executive producer on the show's last two seasons, is a key member of POINT PLEASANT's creative staff; and Ben Edlund, a writer on ANGEL and FIREFLY, is a co-executive producer on POINT PLEASANT.

I've seen the first two shows. It has possiblities, but they are giving away to many specifics. AND NO HUMOR!
Also I don't think that it works with the lead characters that they has chosen. They are all beautiful, rich, young people like 90210... too perfect. If Buffy had made Cordilia he best friend when she first arrived at Sunnydale and stuck with the IN-crowd.
Also we should see that Christina (our heroine) is a good person and works to help others. So far she is hurting people and though it is not (totally) her choice she is not sorry about it.
If PP is going to keep me watching then the players will need more depth and the good guys will have to step up.
"Marti Noxon, who served as BUFFY's executive producer on the show's last two seasons". - Some people did like that part as much.
Ben Edlund creator of "THE TICK"! The show could use a little humor... I'm surprised how straight they are playing this.
