History:

The Minuteman Armored Aerial Battlesuit was developed during the Cold War in the event that the Soviet Union invaded the United States. Designed to give aerial support to infantry and tank battalions, the Minuteman was ahead of its times. However, the costs of building them were quite high. Thus, not many were built. The government kept the twenty armors that were already built and ceased production of anymore. The twenty Minuteman armors were given to the US Air Force.

They are used by the Minuteman Corps to assist the US military in tackling hyper-human villains when there are no heroes around to stop them. However, there has been some concern that the Minuteman Corps is mostly used by military officers and politicians who harbor anti-hero ideals and beliefs. The Minuteman Corps' members must be quite dexterous and possess quick reflexes in order to operate the armor.

Rumor has it that the US Air Force is working on a new armor.

 I wasn't satisfied with the villain Minuteman, but I liked the Minuteman armor so much, I decided to keep the armor!

Relationship (Kara Kenton)

Origin:

Dr. Marie Green was always shy when around people. She felt more comfortable around plants and animals. Because her parents had died in a car accident when she was only four months old, Marie was raised by her grandparents who owned a flower shop. It was they who created Marie’s love for nature. After earning her PhD in biology, Marie became a strong supporter for conservation. She began to do research in the Amazon Rainforest, searching for rare plants that could lead to the discovery of new medicines that could cure such diseases like cancer and HIV.

While working at the research center, there was an accident where Marie was doused with chemicals. Somehow, the chemicals bounded with her DNA, changing her completely. Her skin became green-tinged and covered with tough bark-like armor. Her hair became green and like a canopy of leaves and flowers. Her limbs became long and slender. Soon, she learned she could control plants, stretch her limbs, sprout branch or vine-like limbs from her body, grow sharp thorns on her hands and arms, and even regenerate from injuries. She later discovered that her new abilities also included the ability to create pheromones, causing people to become attracted to her. However, to her surprise and shock, her pheromones could only cause other women to be attracted to her. Having been a closet lesbian for much of her life, she felt both wonderful and nervous at the same time about this.

Marie realized that she had acquired a special gift; a gift that was meant to make a difference in the world. Shortly, news began to spread about a half-naked plant-like woman fighting criminals and pollution. The reports had stated that this heroic plant-like woman called herself Green Flora. Marie enjoyed being a superhero, as she was making the world a better place.

Personality:

Green Flora is normally shy and reserved, but she is friendly nonetheless. During battle, she attempts to keep collateral damage to a minimum as best as she can, as well as ensuring that innocent bystanders are safe from harm. She lives in an apartment with her neighbor being Kara Kenton, Green Flora's lover!

 Green Flora is a basically a lesbian heroic version of Poison Ivy.

 While she may hate people polluting the environment, she isn't arrogant. Unlike other environmental heroes, Green Flora is willing to allow a new housing development that will create jobs and provide needed living space to be built in a pristine location as long as people respect the environment, i.e. build parks and gardens to help liven up the area.

 Her pheromones tend to get her into some awkward situations, especially with other women, including other superheroes. Even female super-villains find her attractive! Of course, she isn't stupid, and has come to realize that this power is quite useful and handy depending on the situation. For example, a stubborn by the book female cop refuses to let her into a crime scene. Green Flora can just talk to her (not flirt, as Green Flora is quite shy), which results in the cop allowing her to see the crime scene, in return for a date.

 One would think that this would make it impossible to find someone understanding of her condition. Think again! Green Flora has a steadfast and understanding partner, a female reporter named Kara Kenton, who I will do a build next!

 Found a better picture. This one looks much better, I think.

Obsession (Green Flora)

Background Information:
Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Kara Kenton loved journalism. She was talented as both a reporter and photographer. She enjoyed working at a local newspaper, until she got fired when her boss found out that she was a lesbian. However, she turned the tables on him by taking him to court. It was quite an embarrassment for him that he gave her her job back in exchange for Kara dropping the lawsuit against him. She was quite pleased with herself.

Now, Kara Kenton is a freelance reporter who is always after the next big thing. This desire eventually led her to meet Green Flora. Strangely, Kara fell madly in love with the green-skinned, flower-haired superhero after Green Flora rescued the reporter from being killed by the toxic supervillain Toxic Man. Kara has made the plant-like hero her special project and is always trying to get a shot of her favorite green hero in action or in bed with her.

 Kara Kenton is to Green Flora as Lois Lane is to Superman...well kind of. In contrast to Green Flora, Kara is quite open about her sexuality and orientation (actually she is very opened about it!).

 Green Flora likes the attention, but Kara's flirting can be quite...well, she never leaves the poor hero alone!

 Green Flora has yet to reveal to Kara her secret identity, not wanting to put Kara into danger as Green Flora has made some powerful enemies. Luckily, Kara is quite capable of taking care of herself, a fact that she constantly reminds Green Flora of...and that is almost all of the time.

 And yes, that is a picture of Supergirl, but Kara actually looks like that.

He later retired from MI-6 to carry out his grandfather’s dying request to serve as the Calderon family’s butler. Alexander had already married Elizabeth by this time, and despite the fact that the two of them are saddened that they cannot have children, they have seen Darren like a son and treat him as such. Alexander is very multitalented and is far from helpless as many thugs and villains have quickly learned.

 Alexander is to Ghost Watcher as Alfred is to Batman. Pretty much that sums it up in a nutshell.

Background: Elizabeth Bradford is an Australian/Scotswoman who served in the British SAS, which was how she met Alexander. While she was saddened to learn that she couldn’t have children, she and Alexander have a happy marriage and have always been faithful to each other. Like her husband, she later served as the Calderon family’s servant, and when Darren lost his parents and sister, she became a surrogate mother to the young Calderon. When Darren decided to carry out his fight on criminals, she took it upon herself to train him in martial arts and hand-to-hand combat.

 Despite being born in Australia, Elizabeth was raised in Scotland, so she speaks more with a Scottish dialect than an Australian one.

 If Batman had a maid, Elizabeth would be the perfect one. Elizabeth spars with Darren, helping him practice his fighting skills in his war on crime as well as assist her husband in the upkeep of Calderon Manor. And FYI, Darren has never beaten her, not even once. ;)

 Her SAS military training has proven useful in times when Ghost Watcher needs someone to help him to track down and bring down multiple enemies. She rarely does it, but Ghost Watcher knows that he can always count on her when he needs help.

Background Information:

Hervé Poincaré was a simple café owner and part-time photographer, taking pictures of famous landmarks around his home of Paris. He loved his jobs, but somehow, he always felt like he was destined for something greater.

While trekking through some catacombs, he stumbled upon something strange: a ring made of white gold with a small central star sapphire flanked by four smaller black opals with silver speckles. Before he knew it, he had taken the ring off of the bony finger of the corpse he found it on and put it on his own finger. Suddenly, he was surrounded by the ghostly images of French monks. They explained that the ring that Hervé had put on was the Power Ring of Hope, an ancient relic from the days before the French were united. It had been passed down through the generations, changing hands constantly, with no one worthy to wield the ring’s powers, until now. The worthy wielder of the ring had come at long last. The spectral monks charged Hervé with the task of using the ring to protect the people of France from evil and villainy. Before he knew, Hervé had become the French Lantern, bringing the light of hope to not only France but the world as well.

He later joined the Hero Legion, but left after disagreeing with how the Hero Legion was going after the supervillains from the days of Malice and Colonel Solar, instead of going after the more recent threats: terrorism and the new supervillains of the day. French Lantern is still considered a member of the Hero Legion, but has been on reserved status since August 2002. He is well loved by the people of French.

Personality:

French Lantern is a friendly, cheerful Frenchman who cares deeply about those around him. He will risk life and limb to protect the innocent, especially when his family is in danger. And woe to those who do put his family in harm's way!

 And here is my 20th build: the French Lantern! Got to have a French superhero. It's a rule

 French Lantern is something of a cross between the Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Captain America, except without the military training. French Lantern is just a simple ordinary guy who gets tasked with being a superhero as he was destined to wield the Power Ring of Hope.

 Hervé's bookstore and café needs some explanation: his headquarters is only part dual-sized. There is a secret door that only he and his family know about that leads to a much larger room which he uses to monitor troubles in France. The personnel are those he has hired to run his café and bookstore. He is quite friendly and his employees like working for him as he never has scolded anyone for being late (well, maybe a simple 'Don't let it happen' ending with a smile lecture a few times). He isn't seen much, but his wife and children are, as they run the establishment while Hervé is out saving the world. He usually hires high school and college students. His café is quite famous as a few superheroes have stopped there, including himself appearing as the French Lantern.

Like his ancestor and predecessors, Ace was a master at using the bow. However, Ace began to see the hardships faced by the poor. Believing that it was his destiny to carry on his heroic ancestor’s duty, Ace donned a costume and fought crime and corruption as the Arrow Master!

 Arrow Master is the Green Arrow/Hawkeye of the Crusaderverse, and is a member of the Hero Legion. I probably should get around to telling people more about the Hero Legion. You know what? I'll do that right now! Well, in a little bit actually.

 Arrow Master is a member of the third Hero Legion, and a good friend of Patriot Paragon's. Arrow Master is also one of the most famous Marvels in the superhero community. What's a Marvel you ask? ;)

Marvels and Hyper-Humans

Postby SCKnight » Sun Jul 22, 2012 6:39 pm

In the Crusaderverse, people with superpowers are called Hyper-Humans, regardless if they use them for good or evil. However, there are those who battle evil and must rely on their own talents, skills, and inventions to aid them.

These individuals are called Marvels, a term dating back to the costumed crime fighters of the Golden Age. As it was a marvel to see such brave men and women risking their lives to protect the innocent and bring evildoers to justice. Many of these early Marvels lacked superpowers and relied on their brains, brawn, and gadgets. They were the first superheroes of the Modern Age.

During World War II, the term Hyper-Human was first used by the Axis Powers to describe beings who had actual superpowers.

Both Hyper-Human and Marvel are still used today.

Here's an example on how to use the terms correctly:

Patriot Paragon would be a hyper-human while Crusader would be called a Marvel.

Chimera superheroes are called Marvels as they are not human. Alien heroes and villains, including Chimera villains, are called Hyper-Humanoids.

Background Information:

Malice was not born in the traditional way. Malice was part of the Übermensch Project, a top-secret military experiment to create an army of super-soldiers. It was Hitler’s brainchild. To ensure the super-soldiers would be effective on the battlefield, Nazi scientists decided to create a leader for their great army. However, the leader had to be as charismatic as the Der Führer himself was. Using both high-tech equipment and Thule Society magic, they created Malice. Strangely, Malice was far more intelligent and could have even taken over the Third Reich. However, the thought of replacing Hitler never even crossed the Übermensch’s mind, as Malice was deeply loyal to him, a result of careful programming by the German scientists. Malice idolized the Der Führer and woe to anyone who dared to harm Hitler. To Malice, Hitler could do no wrong, and in his eyes, Malice saw Adolf Hitler as a god. Like his ‘god’, Malice was interested in the occult, and quickly became a high-ranking member in the Thule Society.

Malice’s fighting prowess impressed Hitler, who immediately gave his ‘disciple’ the positions and titles of Übermensch Supreme Commander and Head of the Third Reich Paranormal Military Forces. During the first battles of World War II, Malice led his forces, crushing the petty defenses of any nation that dared to stop the Nazi Blitzkrieg. Months later, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. Malice was put in charge of countering the Allies’ Hero Legion. Malice put together the evil counterpart of the Legion: the Guardians of the N.W.O (New World Order).

Malice fought his last battle in World War II when he destroyed half of the Hero Legion. He was forced to retreat when he learned that the Hero Legion was merely distracting him while the Allied Powers began to lay siege to Berlin. Worried about the safety of his Der Führer, Malice quickly returned to Berlin. He was too late. Malice learned that Hitler had committed suicide, and the Third Reich had been crushed. Malice didn’t understand. Why didn’t people understand the brilliance and goodness of his Der Führer’s grand visions? Hitler’s new world order would have eliminated crime, poverty, and corruption. The new world would be ruled by those who deserved it, instead of those weak mongrels. Malice swore that day that he would make his master’s dream a reality.

Malice quickly escaped with the remaining Übermensch soldiers, a few high-ranking Nazi officers who had refused to surrender, the remnants of the Thule Society, and some surviving top scientists for the Third Reich. Malice took the title of Der Führer of a new Reich that would crush all those who had defied and shunned his father’s dreams. Like an evil phoenix, the Nemesis Reich was born from the ashes of the Third Reich. Malice would continue to fight for a new world.

Malice later created the Usurper Enclave with the sole purpose of uniting Earth’s mightiest supervillains and overthrowing the world’s governments. Malice almost won that war, had it not been for Captain Solar’s noble sacrifice where the American hero destroyed both himself and Malice during the First War to Save the Earth.

 Malice is, or actually was (considering that he's dead now) a legendary supervillain who was created to counter America's Colonel Solar. He was basically the Vandal Savage of the Crusaderverse.

 What's that? Yep, he's carrying WWII German weapons, and he was always wearing a bulletproof version of a Nazi officer's uniform.

 I was inspired to make him when I was watching the Ultimate Avengers animated movies and I saw that alien villain in the second one, the one who killed Black Panther's father.

 Why is it that villains like Malice like to gloat? Must be a union rule.

Hero Legion

Postby SCKnight » Mon Jul 23, 2012 1:23 pm

The Hero Legion

The Hero Legion is an international group of superheroes made up of heroes from various nations.

There have actually been three versions of the Hero Legion.

The first Hero Legion was founded during World War II by the American super-soldier hero, Colonel Solar, in order to combat the Nazi super-soldier Malice and his evil Guardians of the New World Order.

After World War II, the Legion disbanded due to political tensions during the Cold War between the United State of America and the Soviet Union.

After Colonel Solar's return and the fall of the Soviet Union, the Hero Legion was reformed in order to combat the schemes of Malice who had done the unthinkable: unite almost all of the world's entire supervillain population under his command!

The Hero Legion lost many members during the First War to Save the Earth. In addition, 93% of world's hyper-human population was killed off during that war as well.

The third and current Hero Legion was founded a few months after 9/11 by Patriot Paragon. Unlike the first versions, the most recent Hero Legion would be under the command of the UN Security Council. The Hero Legion is sent to any global crisis where their powers may make a difference, with most of their missions being humanitarian, diplomatic, or combat missions directed against super villains. However, the Hero Legion also functions as a watchdog group, monitoring new heroes and assisting local authorities in apprehending heroes who have gone rogue. Furthermore, only the United Nations has any authority over the Hero Legion. There have been times where there has been some tension between the Hero Legion and the UN, but nothing major or serious has come of it.

Membership in the Hero Legion is by invitation only and the screening process for those wishing to join is rigorous. Usually, only certain types of heroes are selected: photogenic, patriotic heroes who know how to take orders, how to kiss babies, and how to shut up when required. Although these types of heroes were the ones selected during the second Hero Legion. Patriot Paragon has relaxed these qualifications since forming the third Legion, as he believes that having a few heroes who know how to speak their minds (without causing an international scene or God forbid an international crisis!) is good for the team.

The Hero Legion also turns down a few heroes who they believe are nothing more than glory-seeking showoffs. Patriot Paragon is a firm believer in the new Legion’s rules against franchising and endorsement deals among heroes, seeing them as just plain wrong. In addition, the Legion’s charter forbids allowing minors to join without written consent of their nation's government, although very few nations want to be the nation that has a nine-year-old child fighting a rampaging psychopathic powerhouse supervillain.

The Hero Legion has had two headquarters. The first was a mystical orbiting satellite that later crashed in the Pacific Ocean during the First War to Save the Earth. Much of the satellite base was able to be salvaged and installed into the new headquarters.

The second base was built in Washington, D.C. as this would allow the various Legion members easy access to their respective nations' embassies, not to mention it allows them to help protect one of the world's most powerful leaders: the President of the United States of America. The construction and building of the Washington, D.C. base was funded by all of the nations of the world after the United Nations approved the creation of the third Hero Legion. There are some heroes and civilians who see the Hero Legion as nothing more than UN-lackeys, but very few will argue with the Hero Legion's track record.

However, some more recent heroes have started to question the Hero Legion, believing that the Hero Legion is still fighting the remnants of the Usurper Enclave from the First War to Save the Earth while overlooking the more recent threats of terrorism and recent super villains like Dr. Technodynamo and the NWRA.

About the Washington, D.C. Headquarters:

The Hero Legion's headquarters is located in downtown Washington, D.C. in Hero Plaza. Hero Plaza was built to remember Earth's fallen champions who had given their lives to save the world during the First War to Save the Earth. It was both an amazing and sad celebration as while the people of the world mourned their fallen heroes, it brought the nations of the world together. The Superhero Memorial Park is where many heroes are buried with full honors of their respective nations, and although foreign heroes are buried in their home nations, markers are placed to symbolize that no matter what nation a hero is from, that hero belongs to everyone. The most impressive sight here is the Memorial to the Champion of Heroes: Lt. Colonel Solar who finally ended the war, sacrificing his own life to destroy the maniacal Malice and his schemes for good. A large bronze statue of Colonel Solar holding the Earth up stands in the middle of the park.

Just a few blocks from the Washington Monument is the International Museum of Superheroes. The museum has exhaustively detailed exhibits on superheroes from around the world and throughout history, including special displays on the “Marvels” of the 1930s and the heroics of today's superheroes. The museum has lifelike statues of superheroes, dioramas, actual donated costumes, and replicas of various super-gadgets and equipment. There are three small theaters, one for newsreels and footage of the early heroes from the 1920s on through the early 1950s, another for the modern heroes of the 1960s through today, and a third for footage of the villains and a special documentary on the First War to Save the Earth. As requested by Patriot Paragon, there is a special exhibit honoring the men and women of the armed forces, because as Patriot Paragon explained it, "They are true heroes." The museum also has a busy gift shop selling all manner of super-memorabilia, including T-shirts, statuettes, comic books, poster prints, videos and DVDs, and more. Attached to the museum is the original Hero-Food theme-restaurant. Owner and founder Mark Hiro helped to supply many exhibits for the museum, and more can be found inside the restaurant itself. Hero-Food does a booming business, and occasionally gets visited by one or more of the members of the Hero Legion, making it all the more popular for tourists hoping to spot a superhero. In fact, the President of the United States tries to stop by the restaurant from time to time, which draws in a large crowd of people, especially when both the President and a superhero are spotted talking to each other in plain sight!

The actual headquarters of the Hero Legion is a 6-story office building that is situated in the middle of Hero Plaza. Surrounded by a small park, it creates a idyllic setting, despite the kind of attention it can draw. The park itself has a number of defensive capabilities, statues which hide energy blasters. and electrically charged zones through out the grounds which can stun groups of foes. In addition to this, members of the Secret Service and US Marines are stationed here as well to provide additional security. There have been a few times where a supervillain has tried to attack the Hero Plaza, but has been stopped not by a superhero, but by actual ordinary men and women who attempt to do what they can to protect their heroes. You can imagine the embarrassment that the villain feels when he gets brought down by little old ladies and high school students.

Underneath the plaza lies a underground parking lot, storage facilities for cells, and the independent power supply system. As well as tunnels which lead away to an adjoining parking lot facility, where our hero's can return to their "normal" identities and leave without notice.

Washington, D.C. Base:
Size: Large, Toughness: 15, Features: Combat Simulator, Communications, Computer, Concealed, Defense System, Drones, Fire Prevention System, Gym, Hangar, Holding Cells, Infirmary, Laboratory, Landmark, Library, Living Space, Personnel, Power System, Security System

 The Hero Legion is something like a fusion of DC Comics' Justice League International and Marvel's Avengers.

 I used some additional rules from other source books when I created the Washington, D.C. base. You will notice that the Hero Plaza was actually inspired by the Freedom Plaza from Freedom City.

 Hero-Food was actually inspired by a page from DC Comics' Justice League: Kingdom Come where there is a restaurant showing relics of the heroes and villains, as well as having the waiters and waitresses dressed up as historic heroes. I thought that was too cool to pass up. ;)

More Builds on the Way!

Postby SCKnight » Wed Jul 25, 2012 10:07 am

Never fear! I am working on a ton of new builds as you probably saw on the table of contents in the first post on page 1.

I'm going to thank ladydragonfly as some of her characters have actually inspired me in the creation of a few of my own characters, especially her namesake character.

Background Information:

Team Affiliation: The Vindicator Sisters

Chantal Beaulieu was a shy, quiet girl who enjoyed reading. Her father passed away when she was seven, but she still remembers him as being a kind-hearted man despite how brief he was in her life. She loved books about magic and fantasy most of all.

Despite her quiet nature, she was an excellent student in school.

One day, she had a dream about her father. In her dream, he told her that she was descended from a long line of mages trained in the mystic arts and that she was the reincarnation of a powerful sorceress and embodiment of the Elemental Spirits (Phoenix, Undine, Gaia, and Slyph). He told her that he was sorry that he was unable to teach her what he knew, but there was no doubt in his mind that she would become a great sorceress, even greater than Merlin the Wizard himself!

When she woke up from her dream, she was shocked to find herself floating about her bed. It took her some time, but she was able to control her new powers. Then one day, after coming home from school, Chantal discovered her mother had left, leaving a magical staff and a note that read: “Take care, my little sorceress. I love you. I will always be by your side.” Her mother had disappeared and while the authorities were unable to find her, Chantal’s mother had left enough money and instructions that Chantal was to run the family’s bookstore until she returned.

Since Chantal has discovered her mystical heritage, she has had to juggle living a normal life and using her magic for good against those who would threaten innocent lives. And if the threats against France are anything indication, Chantal is going to be juggling a lot more than she would like to!

 And here we have Mystic Maiden. She was inspired by ladydragonfly's Mistress Phyre and Gilliam's Miss Magic, as well as JoshuaDunlow's Witchfire. Mystic Maiden is the mystical expert on the Vindicator Sisters team. She is a good friend to her teammates, and works well with Mechavixen, the team's other bookworm as well as the other brains of the team Iron Rose. In fact, Mechavixen, Aurora, and Mystic Maiden are very good friends.

 And yes, that is how Mystic Maiden appears!

 Believe or not, Mystic Maiden is actually the leader of the Vindicator Sisters.

 Still working on her.

 Chantal's magic is a fusion and mixture of different magics: European and Middle Eastern, as her father was French while her mother was Turkish.
