Monster Squad

Monster Squad
A new specialized squad of AEGIS formed in 2001, its members would be considered monsters or not human by most. Yet they are the ones fighting the real monsters which have been unleashed upon Earth, creatures created by the likes of Mr. Matthews, Splicer and various other madmen.

Its leader and first member is Commander Floppy, one of the first animals experimented upon by Splicer in his early work. He survived and thrived, escaping the madman to meet up with AEGIS. The highly intelligent rabbit gave them all the details he could about Splicer and his operations, yet his island is in international waters and outside normal government means to deal with.

Over 2 years after his escape, Commander Floppy has been placed in charge of a group of misfits and outsiders, each with their own problems and past to deal with. But they all seek to help out and deal with the monsters unleashed into the world, even as they are looked upon as monsters themselves.

Personal Enemies of Members
• Splicer: Commander Floppy, Pathfinder and Snatch all have their reasons to want to put him out of business. Splicer has taken their attacks on his brainwashed operatives personally.
• The Labyrinth: Armament wishes to inflict a lot of pain on those who subjected him to painful experiments and surgery. The Labyrinth wishes to regain their subject and turn him to their side.
• SHADOW: All members of the squad have been targeted for experimentation and study at one time or another.
• Talos: He personally wishes to figure out how Slash came to be, so he can create an army of video game creatures under his command.

Complications
Justice: Floppy wishes to help victims like himself and see justice come to the true monsters who create them.
Disability: Commander Floppy is mostly blind in his left eye. This doesn’t affect his aim, but it may affect his perception on that side.
Enemy: Splicer both hates and admires Floppy for how he has thwarted him on multiple occasions. He always wishes to figure out how his first big success was greater than even he first realized.
Prejudice: Despite his power and abilities, most still see him as a cute little bunny rabbit. Thus he suffers a -2 circumstance penalty to Intimidation checks to those who don’t know of his position of power and reputation.
Relationship: Besides being the leader of Monster Squad, Floppy has grown to see them as his family. Woe to those who bring harm to his family.

Notes
:arrow: A genetically altered super rabbit, he is basically an animal version of Nick Fury for his team. He even has an eyepatch.

History: Floppy’s first true memories are those of pain beyond imagining, as needles were stuck into him and blades made swallow cuts into his flesh. His rapidly expanding mind came to know he was in a human building, experimented upon by a madman. This madman wished to make humans and animals more alike, the perfect creatures to lead the world into the future.

Even with his mind only just beginning to understand the human and his plans Floppy knew this was wrong. But he couldn’t do much in his condition, drugged, and bound to a table and in pain. Thus he bided his time, as his mind continued to expand and understand the world around him. Opening his cage was simple and when he found the docks he figured out how the boats worked in short order.

Fleeing for his life, he ended up in Freedom City and in AEGIS custody. Telling his whole story and what little he knew of Splicer and his operation, he was allowed to rest without fear for the first time he could recall. Despite being a small rabbit, he was as strong as an average adult male, with greater speed and reflexes. Using the AEGIS gym to vent his frustrations, he tests his new limits and found himself to be a super rabbit. But this wasn’t enough for him, he wished to see the madman who did this to him and other helpless animals brought to justice.

And thus he trained for almost 2 years before another subject was brought in, a human girl turned into a naga-like form. Floppy went to AEGIS high command and asked to head up a taskforce, a squad under his command which would deal with the creations of Splicer and the like. Thus Monster Squad was formed with their leader and 4 agents to help him out; it would rapidly expand over the years.

Description: Commander Floppy is a cute brown rabbit, around 1.5 feet long and weighing just 8 pounds. His blue eyes gleam with inhuman intelligence and cunning, well his right eye does; his left eye is covered in a black eyepatch thanks to one of the squad’s early missions against Splicer where he faced off against several anthro-wolves. As an animal he doesn’t wear clothing and some question how he stores his weapons without any pockets or holsters.

Personality: Commander Floppy when in the field is a no nonsense leader who expects his commands to be followed without question. He comes off as gruff and hardnosed, with a gleam of happiness when he is taking down those willingly transformed/working for someone like Splicer.

But in the office or off duty he is a laid back kind of guy. He likes to watch comedy shows while chewing on some lettuce, sleep on the coach and just slack off when not on duty or training. He has a secret collection of Sailor Moon figures and likes to daydream that Luna is a rabbit like him.

Powers and Abilities: Commander Floppy is a genetically altered super rabbit. He has the normal fur coat of a rabbit his size, strong eyesight and superhuman hearing, and is a skilled digger. His normal strength, stamina, speed and leaping abilities have all been enhanced to greater than even human levels, as when needed he can keep up with a car.

He has been trained by AEGIS agents and self-taught in variety of areas; unarmed fighting that blends judo and kung fu with his agility and speed; learned how to wield any weapon equally well, but has to use small weapons or customized ones for his size; use of guns, with his own customized heavy pistol with custom bullets; and team tactics and field command skills.

Tactics: Commander Floppy tends to stand back, giving his team orders while supporting them with gunfire. He tends to order artillery to take down long-distance targets and heavy armored foes; infantry are focused on the lesser opponents first and then as support for the team bruiser and tank. On planned missions he first sends in the scout and infiltration to gauge enemy strength and weak points; then sends in the sniper to take out any open targets, then finally sends in remaining troops to disable any further threats.

On his own Floppy tends to fight defensively til he has gauged his opponent’s strength. Then he will tend to adapt his tactics towards disabling them with minimal risk to himself. Leaping over opponents, dashing past them in a near blur, or getting up in their face to intimidate them are some of his preferred ways to even the odds.

Allies: He has various connections in AEGIS and other government organizations to call upon as needed. The Monster Squad is both his team and family who he will die to protect.

Enemies: Splicer will do anything to recapture Floppy and subject him to further test and experiments, all in the name of refining his process. Other monster-maker types have also sworn vengeance for his interference in their operations, including Mr. Matthews.

Complications
Responsibility: He feels responsible for all the damage and accidents caused by his fellow gremlins. Thus he tries to make up for it by creating and aiding in the fight against threats to humanity.
Accident: Despite his technical skills and ability to invent wonders, he sometimes doesn’t know their full limits. And thus when he test them out or uses them in the field he can miscalculate how much damage it should do or how fast it is.
Enemy: Most enemies of the Monster Squad don’t know of his existence, but SHADOW has found out and wish to force him into their service.
Identity: Eddie Who, mechanic
Prejudice: Those who meet him tend to freak out, especially once they learn he is a gremlin. It takes time for others to get used to a gremlin, let alone treat them as an equal.

Notes
:arrow: A small, green-skinned gremlin who prefers to create than to destroy. He acts as the team technician and rarely goes into the field. He has to use his Gadgets to reach his caps but when doing so is powerful, although this depends on what gadgets he has on hand.

History: Edowos was born during the industrial revolution and couldn’t understand why his fellow gremlins would wish to tear down such wonders. He was spellbound by all the creations he saw and inspired to make his own, thus was an outcast among gremlins who saw him as a freak. But this didn’t deter him and he kept at it, helping to create some of the early advances while secretly helping the humans working on them.

It wasn’t until WWI that he couldn’t stand back, as his fellow gremlins helped to cause the death of thousands and cared nothing for those they shared the planet with. So Edowos revealed himself to an American scientist, who helped to get him recognized as a U.S. citizen and work within their labs. Countermeasures for the enemies own creations were more his thing and saved countless lives from the likes of the Banshee Bomb, Death Fog and numerous other super weapons which the American public never knew existed.

He has since worked for the American government, being moved from project to project. It wasn’t until 2001 when working with AEGIS the Monster Squad was formed and he was asked by Commander Floppy to join up. Being among others different from the world around them appealed to him, plus his own workshop and expense account to fund his creations cinched it.

Description: Edowos is an average gremlin, a green, pointy eared individual about the size of a human child. He lacks hair on his head and hair on other parts is black, while his violet eyes show a spark of true genius and love of life. He is strong for an individual of any size, able to hold his own against most athletes.

He tends to wear simple white shirts, black shoes and blue overalls most of the time, rarely seen outside the workshop or lab at the base. Brown leather gloves protect his hands as he works, while he carries his large wrench with him at all times. He always seems to have five o’ clock shadow on his face no matter when he last shaved and loves to smoke cigars.

Personality: Highly intelligent and more than a little smug about it, he comes across as arrogant to those of lesser intelligence or those who haven’t gotten used to him yet. He tends to talk like a mechanic most of the time, referring to things in technical terms or just using slang. He’s a tough, no-nonsense individual who won’t back down from a challenge. But he is most in his element when in the workshop on a project, flitting about from one area to another with a grin on his face.

Powers and Abilities: Blueprint is a rogue gremlin, born with a talent for fixing and creating instead of breaking and destroying. He can see in any lighting and is near immortal, immune to aging and mortal diseases.

He is a technical genius with a talent for thinking up new inventions in short order. He has various gadgets at his disposal but it takes him several minutes to switch them up otherwise he weighs himself down. He designed and built the base with help from AEGIS hired workers, it is his baby and he will do anything to defend it and those within.

Tactics: Rarely in a fight, he still swing a mean wrench and can take down most thugs with a single swing. When faced with a true threat he will isolate himself long enough to get some gadgets in order; from force field belt and anti-gravity disc, to an armored suit sized for him with various weapon systems. He seeks to take down opponents with hit and run tactics or striking from a distance when possible.

Allies: He has various individuals in the U.S. government who owe him favors [use HP to represent this], in addition to AEGIS and his teammates/family in Monster Squad.

Enemies: SHADOW seems to have a greater interest in Blueprint than the other squad members, having tried on multiple occasions to capture him in the field/kidnap him from the base only to fail.

Cybernetics: His cybernetic implants have disabled his main eye’s anti-magic effect and all of his eyestalks’ magic rays except for his telekinetic eye ray. He is vulnerable to electrical and magnetic attacks, suffering an additional degree of failure against them.
Disability: Stalker has no hands and must use his telekinetic eye ray to manipulate things. If his flight is somehow negated, his ground movement is considered impaired.
Enemy: The Labyrinth, Monster Squad enemies
Motivation: He believes he owes AEGIS and it is his responsibility to help them however he can. Along with protecting his new family in Monster Squad.
Prejudice: Due to his monstrous appearance, those who don’t know him tend to react with fear.

Notes
:arrow: The team artillery, back-up scout and glass cannon, this cyborg beholder has lost a lot but gained as well. When his teammates are in the area of an attack, he will stick with the turret. He is a bit grim and gruff but more personable than other beholders.

History: Stalker, at least that is the name he used with the humanoids, was an anomaly in beholder society. Personable for the most part, he tried to make friends and allies with members of other races. So it came as no shock when his fellows betrayed him to a bunch of humans from another dimension.

Walking up to pain was new, finding most of his eye rays disable was down heartening, but facing a minotaur who said he worked for him now took the cake. Only to have a raid by AEGIS agents free him and force the minotaur to vanish, for now. Taken care of by these humans, despite some of them calling him “a freaking abomination”, was definitely not what he expected. But having a talking rabbit ask him to join a squad of monster hunters, that made him laugh like never before.

After getting used to his new cybernetics and limitations without his other magic, Stalker was codenamed Armament and inducted into the Monster Squad. Since then he has been able to prove himself wrong about what is truly weird, with the kind of creatures they have faced.

Description: Stalker is a green-skinned beholder, a 6’ wide spherical being with one giant central eye and several eyestalks. His central eye is lime green and tends to show grim determination most of the time in the field. A mouthful of razor-sharp teeth stand out. But his cybernetics is what makes him unique; various implants are placed around his body, mostly weapon systems and a commlink.

Personality: A gruff personality who is like a grouch, he is genuinely caring and kind to others if given a chance for his true self to come out. He actually loves children and will die rather than see one come to harm. Strangely enough he is a vegetarian, preferring mushrooms, moss and fungi to meat. When in the field he shows a grim determination, not caring what happens to him but risking all to protect innocents and his teammates.

Powers and Abilities: Armament is a beholder, large and tough with a hide tougher than rhino skin, his huge central eye and multiple eyestalks give him great vision and the ability to see anything around him, as well as in darkness. He has an innate form of magical levitation that allows him to fly faster than most humans can walk and move in any direction. His only still functional eye stalk allows use of telekinesis to move things around and manipulate things, although crudely.

His cybernetic implants include: Mental control link on top of his body, targeting sight with laser sight on one of his eyestalks, an advanced radio communicator that can pick up any frequency, and his weapons array including: “tank killer” mini-missiles on his left side, micro-missile launcher on his right side, below that a laser array and finally a chin-mounted turret.

Tactics: Armament will seek to sneak up on his targets first if possible, hitting them with an aim barrage from his turret. When allies or friendlies are in the way he will use his turret to target foes. Otherwise when faced with more than one foe he goes with other weapons: micro-missile barrage when they are clustered together, laser array for those in a line and finally his “tank killer” missiles for foes too tough for anything else.

He will always seek to gain as much information as possible about his foe before engaging them, watching their movements from a safe distance. He is the team’s back-up scout and good at it and a glass cannon needed when the bruiser or tank is taken down or busy.

Allies: AEGIS are his only allies beyond his fellow Monster Squad members.

Enemies: The Labyrinth, he wishes to get revenge for what they did to him and they wish to reacquire and brainwash him for their own purposes.

Motivation: Early on she was motivated by a need for humans to accept her, to not see her as a monster. Since hooking up with Grunt she just wishes to see justice done, for her and other victims like her.
Disability: Her snake-like lower body makes it difficult to climb anything without handholds or limbs to grasp. She also has some trouble with course surfaces as they constantly sting her lower body.
Enemy: Splicer, who she wishes to see rot in jail; Monster Squad enemies.
Prejudice: Because of her naga-like form, she is looked upon by others as a monster most of the time. Even her own family and friends rejected her out of fear.
Relationship: Grunt, boyfriend.

:arrow: A victim of a madman, she came out stronger and found out her true friends were in the long-run. Despite her transformed body, she is still a woman and loves to go out on dates with Grunt, especially to see the looks on the faces of the wait staff.

History: Sarah Jones had the perfect life, helping out at the elementary school, weekend trips with her friends to the outdoors and her boyfriend, Josh. Life couldn’t get any better, til Josh got down on one knee and proposed. Married soon after and together for over 2 years now, she was content.

And that is when things went sideways. Groups of beastmen were abducting people, dragging them away to a horrible fate. And Sarah tripped as she tried to run for it. Waking in a laboratory, being injected with various fluids and who knows what else. In her haze she tried to break free and was shocked when the straps tore off like cheap fabric. Running, at least she thought she was running, outside, she made it to the ocean and without any other options in sight, dove in.

When she finally made it to shore, the coast guard had spotted her and took her aboard. Trying to ignore their stares, she just thought it was because of her soaked clothes. Her legs seemed slightly numb, despite being able to move them, and when the blanket around her fell what she saw came as a shock. Her entire lower body, it was that of a giant snake! Fainting from shock, she would have fevered dreams of slithering through grass for hours.

Waking up, her fingerprints had identified her and her family was waiting to see her. Only to look on with disgust as she slithered out before them and her own mother shrieking that she was a monster who ate her little girl. Her own husband said he couldn’t even look at her and filed for divorce. She hoped her friends would see reason, only to be rejected out of fear. It took an AEGIS agent speaking to her to stop the tears, who told her about another option.

Thus Commander Floppy explained to her his own origin and what the purpose of the Monster Squad he was forming would be. Seeing no other options or a way out, she agreed to join up and hasn’t looked back since. Especially when Grunt joined in 2002; they began dating 6 months later.

Description: Sarah is an attractive young woman with pale skin, and the lower body of a black-scaled snake. Her aqua blue eyes show compassion and true insight, while she keeps her platinum blonde hair in a long ponytail. She wears a pair of large lensed glasses, being near-sighted even after Splicer’s experiment on her.

In the base and off-duty she tends to wear simply loose tee-shirts and blouses, while out in the field as Pathfinder she wears arm bracers, a camouflage shirt, dark green vest and mustard yellow bandana and wrap around her waist area.

Personality: Despite her transformation, Sarah has grown back into her fun-loving, energetic self she was before. She will risk life and limb to protect children, while the outdoors is still one of her favorite places to be. Despite her strength, she is gentle and the mother figure of the squad, admonishing them when they use excessive force and reminding them many of those they face are victims as well. When with Grunt she truly shines and smiles a lot.

Powers and Abilities: Pathfinder has the lower body of a snake, along with the senses of one. Incredibly strong, her crushing grip can turn reinforced steel into scrap metal with ease. She slithers using her lower body to get around, has tough scales and hardened tissue which regenerates faster than normal, a very sharp sense of smell and see heat pattern’s like a viper’s heat pits.

Her training and experience in the field with Monster Squad has turned her into a first rate tracker and scout, along with extensive hand-to-hand skills especially in grappling techniques. She has experience in first aid and is the only one in the squad who seems to know how to cook anything beyond microwave food.

Tactics: Pathfinder will scout out a location and relay the details her teammates. Using stealth she will ambush her opponents and get them into a grapple, squeezing with her tail til they fall unconscious. If forced to face someone up front, she will use punches and tail strikes til she gets a good hold, then grapples them into submission.

Allies: Monster Squad is her family, although Grunt is her boyfriend, and AEGIS is her ally.

Enemies: Monster Squad enemies in general, while Splicer she wishes to see locked up in the worst cell in existence.

History: Anne was an unusual child from an early age, born into a world where humans and Kaiju live together. With her father the lord of all dragon-type Kaiju, she was paid respect despite being a half-breed and runt at only 7’ tall. She tried to play with the other kids but only the human kids would even pay her attention, except her two cousins, Nyuu and Jasmine.

It wasn’t until she turned 12 years old and found she could grow to 60’ tall at will and began filling out that the other kaiju kids paid her attention. More than one guy tried to have his way with her only to find her stronger than expected. Years passed and she became one of the most attractive half-kaiju in history, with looks almost equal to her cousin Jasmine.

Travelling the world, she never expected a portal from nowhere to open in her path and send her plunging into another world. It was an Earth where the few kaiju are mostly mindless beast and humans live in fear of them. Appearing in the middle of Freedom City at her full size didn’t help matters either. AEGIS was called in and began to fire upon her, only to see her shrink down to a [compared to before] mere 7’ and storm over to the troops and berate them for firing on a woman.

Floppy was sent to talk to her and even convinced her til they could figure out how to get her home she could work for AEGIS. But she refused at first and found an agency that saw her as an exotic model instead of a monster. This lasted about a year before Floppy returned, introducing her to Pathfinder and telling her tale. It was enough to convince Anne she was needed by the newly formed Monster Squad, plus she was getting bored out of her skull doing fashion shows.

Thus she was inducted into the Monster Squad and became Brickhouse, the powerhouse of the team. Less than a year later she had to deal with news of more kaiju showing up, from the description it was her two cousins whom she missed and her unstable uncle who flew off before AEGIS could stop him. Nyuu and Jasmine were given a place to stay at the Monster Squad HQ, while efforts to locate her uncle have been easy and complicated at the same time. He showed up in New York and announced he was the Earth’s new ruler, they arrived to find him fighting the Sentinels and when Brickhouse joined the fray he was driven off, vowing revenge against her.

Description: Anne is a giant even at her normal size, 7’ of strength and beauty. Her purplish-black eyes show a mischievous nature behind them, while her flaming red hair hangs down to the middle of her back. She has a feminine but muscular body, with gray skin, clawed hands and feet, and a tail that hangs almost to her feet with a row of bony spikes running down it. She doesn’t wear a uniform and always wears whatever clothes she most feels comfortable with, think Daisy Duke from Dukes of Hazard for examples. Her most worn outfit is a pair of daisy dukes and a short-sleeved shirt with some saying on it.

Personality: Flirty and outgoing, she will even flirt in the middle of a fight if she feels like it. She is attractive and will use this to her advantage when possible. She loves to just hang out and dance, going to nightclubs to pick up guys when feeling lonely. But in a fight, despite being flirty, she knows when to be serious and can show a rage few can withstand.

Powers and Abilities: Brickhouse is a half-kaiju, born from her dragon-type father and human mother, although she won’t explain how. She is strong and tough with superhuman endurance even at just 7’ tall, can survive in any environment and heals wounds almost as quickly as they are made. Immune to harm from fire and heat, she sometimes goes skinny dipping in lava. She has a strong sense of smell, can see in any lighting and can see through illusions.

But her true power is the ability to grow to 60’ tall at will when needed, even growing her clothes and upward to 50 lbs. along with her. At this size she can lift massive objects, exert enough force to crush titanium like tin foil and it takes more than a tank to even have a chance of harming her. She has trained herself to be a skilled fighter at any size, along with figuring out to brace her and keep from being moved by exerting raw strength.

Tactics: Brickhouse is a bruiser, using few tactics beyond hit them hard and often. She will use her looks to distract any opponent she thinks it will work on, even showing a flash of cleavage to guys to get their guards down. Any dangerous looking object she will target first to cripple or destroy, while faced with opponents her base strength aren’t enough to deal with she will go into a limited berserker rage, not caring for her own safety and hitting with even more force at the cost of accuracy.

Allies: While annoying, her cousins Nyuu and Jasmine can be called on for help from time to time.

Enemies: Her uncle, Fire Tyrant, whom has vowed to slay her, Nyuu and Jasmine so he will be the only true kaiju left to rule this Earth.

History: Malcolm grew up a military brat, moving from base to base and seeing the world in bits and pieces. Some thought it was destiny he would become an army sniper due to his aptitude with firearms from an early age. And he was good, able to take out a target from 500 yards with the right rifle.

But it was his skill that drew the attention of an unknown party, one who saw him as the perfect agent and assassin, with a little work. Thus he was abducted and subjected to countless experiments that left him raw, screaming in his mind when his throat couldn’t cry out anymore. What seemed like months pasted, til finally he saw a glimpse of his own reflection.

A troll stared back, like a monster from myth come to life, and something inside him snapped. He tore himself free and began to rip the place apart in a blind rage, before tearing off the steel doors and running into the night. It would be over a week before he stumbled into Freedom City, ragged and his clothes in tatters. Despite police waving guns at him he refused to lash out, continuing to walk til he reach AEGIS HQ, where an old friend of his, Jeffery Grimes, was an agent.

Seeing what had become of his old friend, Jeffery brought in Commander Floppy who pitched his usual offer. Malcolm knew a good deal when he heard it and accepted right away; after seeing Pathfinder he knew he did the right thing. Just 6 months after joining he asked her out and they have been together ever since.

Description: Malcolm has been transformed into a troll-like form, burly and strong. His skin is a pale green, his eyes a bluish-black color which show an intense focus while on duty, and black hair in a ponytail. He has a pronounced forehead, his lower canines stick out like a bulldog’s teeth, and he has a pair of curved horns like a ram on his head.

His basic outfit is a bluish-black shirt with a green vest over it, army green jeans, and brown army boots. He has a harness with several pouches, a back holster for his sniper rifle and a holster hidden inside his vest for his pistol. He is rarely without some form of firearm, even when off-duty.

Personality: Serious and stern, relaxed and fun-loving, these are the two extremes of his personality. While on duty or training he is all work and focused intensely on whatever the goal is, giving a dressing down to anyone who goofs off in a dangerous situation. But when off-duty he is relaxed and loves to have fun, hanging out with the others watching television, playing games or out on a date with Pathfinder.

Powers and Abilities: Given a troll-like form, he has low-level superhuman strength, superhuman durability and heals so fast from injuries they rarely slow him down. He can’t even get sick or drunk due to it. He has a sense of smell like a bloodhound and can see in any lighting.

Before his transformation he was an army sniper and good at it. He has training in military matters, stealth and basic first aid. With his senses and skill at spotting things, he is a back-up scout for the squad.

Tactics: Grunt will pick out a protected target and when given the go-ahead will take the shot, normally taking them down with one precise hit. If forced into close range he will stick to his heavy pistol to disarm opponents and will turn to unarmed combat only as a last resort. As a scout he will try to blend in with his surroundings and get as much information back to his team before a strike is called for.

Allies: AEGIS sees him as one of their own; while the Monster Squad is like a 2nd family to Malcolm. Pathfinder aka Sarah has been dating for several years now and he can depend on her for anything.

Enemies: The Monster Squad’s enemies are his. The individual or groups behind his transformation are planning on regaining their ultimate killer someday.

Motivation: Ironheart is driven by a need to be accepted by humans as a fellow free-willed being instead of an object. He is also driven by a basic need to do good deeds and help others.
Disability: His golem form has a limited sense of touch compared to a human’s and he completely lacks a sense of smell or taste.
Enemy: Monster Squad enemies are his. He also has made a foe in the Foundry, as Talos wishes to study him. And Medea has an unknown interest in him as well.
Honor: He will never harm someone who can’t fight back, only restrain them.
Quirk: He has a strange liking for Zen gardens.
Weakness: His form is vulnerable to electricity, made mostly of iron. When hit with electricity whether it damages him or not, he is considered staggered til the end of the next round. He is also vulnerable to any rust-based attacks, taking an additional degree of failure against them.

Notes
:arrow: Ironheart is a golem given semi-life and sapience by an unknown [to him] magic. He is a true tank, heavily shifted towards Toughness and DC over Defense and Attack.

History: Created in ages past, during the dark ages, the iron golem was made by his master to act as a bodyguard and brute force when needed. But who his master was and how old the golem is are unknown. For he was dug up near London and sent to a museum for study, then to the U.S. to a fellow museum as an exchange, believing it to be just a large statue.

So when a young boy wished the golem could be alive, how was he to have known Wishcrafter was nearby. Brought to life, the guards freaked out and thought he was planted by a supervillain and opened fire. Only to find the golem speaks, “I’m not your enemy. Please, help me to understand this world.” Daedalus had been visiting a college at the museum and helped Ironheart to find a place where he would belong.

The Freedom League would be a bad fit, as he would scare people with his form and size; Claremont Academy didn’t fit either, as the other students might freak out and attack him or end up teasing him and unleashing a sleeping giant. Thus AEGIS was contacted and Ironheart met with Commander Floppy. A home, a family to call his own, a duty which wouldn’t leave him stuck in one place. It was a dream come true; in late 2002 Ironheart was inducted into the Monster Squad and has faced threats both big and small. More than once the Foundry has tried to abduct him; while Medea appeared before him and spoke of wishing to see him more in the future.

Description: Ironheart is a massive golem, standing 15’ tall and weighing 3 tons. The iron is made to mimic the human form, imitating muscles, joints and even facial features. His relatively small eyes gleam with a pale green light, a strength of will behind them not seen in other golems. Large spikes on his shoulders and elbows stand out, while a pair of massive chains holds his torso together. Between the iron gray and pale green of some parts of his body, he is hard to miss.

Personality: Ironheart is a determined, strong-willed individual who is learning about life and the world as he goes. His newfound sapience sometimes scares him but he doesn’t let it hold him back. He is caring and hates to see anyone hurt, even holding back against foes so he doesn’t end up crippling them. He loves peace and is strangely drawn to Zen gardens.

Powers and Abilities: Ironheart is one of the most powerful and largest of the iron golems ever created. His superhuman strength allows him to lift hundreds of tons, tear through titanium like balsawood and even leap fairly fair despite his weight. Despite being sapient now, he is not truly alive and immune to the concerns of the living. His body repairs itself rapidly now thanks to the magic which brought him to “life”, while any heat or fire-based attacks are absorbed and give a surge of healing to him.

Tactics: Ironheart is the team tank and seeks to shield his teammates from harm, protecting the most vulnerable while acting to subdue the threats once and for all. He tends to focus more strength and power into his attacks against tough opponents, but most of the time simply acts to protect the team.

Allies: Monster Squad is his family and only allies; he doesn’t even trust AEGIS completely.

Enemies: Monster Squad enemies are his; Talos and the Foundry seek to study him; while Medea has an unknown interest in him for the time being.

Notes
:arrow: A soldier turned werewolf, he has some of his old skill with firearms but prefers hand to hand now. When needing an opponent hit quick with little chance of a counterstrike he is their best bet.

History: Alec was inducted into the military life by his grandfather, a soldier in WW2 for the British. Born in America, war stories from his father’s homeland were a treat. At the age of 17 he lied about his age and snuck into military service, being a rookie soldier and just average with firearms. He gained experience in a few police actions against rioters, but never saw true war in 3 years’ time.

On nightwatch for the base, he began to get twitchy when a huge form began to flit in and out of the shadows. As it closed in he opened fire but it was too late, as the beast bit him hard on his extended arm, and then took off when the alarm went off. Sent home on medical leave til the test on his bite came back, Alec began to feel cold shivers throughout his body.

Without warning he began to transform, skeleton shifting and elongating, muscle mass increasing, yet through all this little pain. Checking himself out in a nearby mirror, the face looking back was from a horror movie. A werewolf, like in the other tales his grandfather told him. It was his mother entering the room to check on him and dropping a glass in shock which snapped him out of his fugue state.

Over the shock, she sat him down and began to explain to him a secret their family kept for centuries. The curse of lycanthropy had been placed upon an ancestor for unknown reasons, only broken 100 years ago by ritual. But the taint of the werewolf still remained, but now it was a gift. For if any of them were infected, they would have full control, both in when they transformed and in their werewolf form.

But knowing the local legends and how the villagers would react, he decided to head to the U.S. Only to, unknown disembarking his flight, find himself drawn into a fight between chimeras created by Mr. Matthews and the Monster Squad. Transforming, he helped out and proved himself more than a match for the beast. After introductions, Commander Floppy wouldn’t take no for an answer and Ripper was inducted into the Monster Squad in early 2003.

Description: Alec is an average looking man, with an athletic build and muscle tone. He keeps his brown hair short and trims; while his blue eyes show a determination and ruthless nature that shakes that who gaze into them too long. As Ripper the werewolf, he has shaggy brown fur, bulging muscles, a wolf-like face with a mouthful of razor-sharp fangs and clawed hands.

Alec tends to wear simple clothes or army fatigues most of the time; as Ripper he wears a torn pair of blue jeans and his dog tags around his neck.

Personality: Cocky, arrogant and brash, even the discipline drilled into him by the army didn’t dull his base nature much. He believes he can take on anything and charges in without warning, always knowing he will come out the better. Even in the Monster Squad he tends to use ambush tactics only when the mission calls for it, otherwise he leaps into the fray at the first chance.

But beneath this cocky attitude, he is afraid of letting others down and works harder than he needs to just to get things done. If an ally or innocent under their protection is brought to harm he will fly into a fury, lashing out at the source of his anger til they are dead or quit moving.

Powers and Abilities: Ripper is a werewolf, but one with control over his transformation and transformed self. He is supernaturally strong, tough and fast, moving like a blur and striking with blinding speed. His claws can tear through nearly anything and his hide is so tough it takes high powered weapons to harm him, which he heals from faster than a normal human would.

But he is vulnerable to harm from silver, easier to harm him and taking much longer to heal from. He can see in low-lighting and his sense of smell is like a wolf, able to track prey for miles. He can sense danger and threats to himself, while his hearing can pick up frequencies outside normal human range. He can take on human appearance but retains all his werewolf abilities and weakness in that form.

Tactics: Ripper is a hit-and-run artist, one of the team infantry and extremely fast. He will move all-out and lash out with his claws while running by his opponent, unless forced into close quarters and confined spaces. Then he will shift to intimidating his opponent into flinching and giving him an edge as he lunges at them. Against foes that are fearless, he switches to using fast movement and acrobatic flips to get his opponent off-guard before he strikes. He loves to combine this tactic with Slash to inflict maximum damage.

Allies: His family and friends have stood by him; while AEGIS is his best bet for a cure. He thinks of the Monster Squad as a 2nd family and Snatch as the annoying little brother he never had.

Enemies: Monster Squad enemies are his. SHADOW seeks to capture him and figure out how he controls his werewolf nature with such ease.

:arrow: A video game hero brought to life, he is still adapting to the human world and sometimes forgets a particular law or nicety of society.

History: Freedom City, a simple arcade in the mall. A teenage boy is playing a video game, the hero a powerful minotaur facing down an evil warlord and his forces. All seems normal, til the boy exclaims the fateful words. “Man, this is so cool. I wish Slash the minotaur could be real.” And a simple trip to the mall results in another wish granted for Diana aka Wishcrafter.

Seeing the confused creature standing in the middle of the arcade, she did the only thing she could think of; teleported him to the Monster Squad’s HQ and hope for the best. Appearing in the middle of their den, he nearly freaked out before Ironheart restrained him. Asked how he came to be there, he told what little he knew and the fact he had no home in this world. So, after he calmed down enough for Ironheart to release him, he was inducted into the Monster Squad in mid-2003.

Description: Sl’ash’tar is a giant minotaur, towering over most people and possessing much muscles. His fur and hair are tan brown, while his eyes are gray most of the time but when in combat they turn pure red with fury. He has hooved feet, a bull-like face and a pair of huge horns.

His only clothing is a loin cloth made of leather, except when training or expecting combat, where he wears deep emerald green half-plate armor over his torso, spiked bracelets and knee-guards, and extra plating on his left shoulder. He wields a huge axe slung over his back; one of its blades seems to always be covered in blood.

Personality: Sl’ash’tar is a boisterous, outspoken and brash minotaur, always speaking what he believes and seemingly unable to lie. Whether drinking at a bar, at a sports event or in battle, he is larger than life and stands out. But he does desire peace of mind, a struggle constantly to control his temper, and even has a flower garden he tends to help calm him.

Powers and Abilities: Slash is a video game minotaur brought to life, yet retaining some of his video game nature. He has no need to eat, drink or sleep, doesn’t age and is immune to disease and poisons. Even if slain he will “respawn” in just an hour, none the worse for wear. He is superhumanly strong and tough, fearless, and a deadly charge using his horns. He can find his way anywhere, always knowing which direction he is going; has a nose sharper than a bloodhound’s, able to smell and track over great distances; can see in pitch black darkness; and can even hear frequencies outside of the human range.

He is outfitted with an enchanted armor which not only shields him from harm, but makes him impossible to entrap by any means. His massive battle axe is enchanted to inflict great wounds, able to cleave through steel with ease and strike multiple targets quickly. His combat style is one of brute force, stamina and inflicting fear into his foes.

Tactics: Slash is a brute and plays to his strengths. Hitting as hard and as fast as possible til his foe[s] stop moving or ordered to stand down. He tries to back up Ripper and Brickhouse in a fight, always sweeping the weak goons off them while they strike at the tougher foes. But should he be badly injured he will fly into a fury, ignoring tactics and teamwork to simply lash out at full power til all foes have been slain or subdued.

Allies: Outside of the Monster Squad, he has no other allies, keeping mostly to the base when not on missions.

Enemies: Monster Squad enemies; Talos who wishes to dissect him and figure out how he came to life.

Thrills: Where in the past he stole to survive, now he does it for the adrenalin rush. Sneaking past enemies and taking their things without being caught is the biggest thrill ride of them all to him.

Enemy: Splicer is particularly interesting in reacquiring his greatest creation to date.
Prejudice: Although not as bad as others in the Monster Squad, his unusual appearance sometimes scares people, especially those with a fear of bats. Plus sometimes he is mistaken for a demon.

History: Jeremy started out life with 2 strikes against him, an orphan and skinny runt to boot. But nothing would hold him back, soon he became known in various areas of Freedom City as “The Ghost Thief”, able to slip in and out unseen from any place. The police couldn’t place his appearance; hide it with a hoodie and gloves worn most of the time.

But despite rapidly growing skills and abilities, he was no match for the beastmen who abducted him. Testing showed an anomaly in his DNA, which indicated a malleable genetic structure. Splicer grinned widely and loomed over Jeremy. “You will be my masterpiece.” With those words, Jeremy was out and Splicer began his work.

Waking up, had it been hours, days, weeks, later, Jeremy was in a haze til he flexed his shoulders and his wings moved for the first time. Struggling against his bond, only when his prehensile tail responded to his thoughts and freed him did he make his escape.

Running, avoiding the guards, he made it to shore before he began to freak out, how he would get off the island? His wings his only hope, he began flap til he took off, moving erratically towards the lights of Freedom City. Hours passed and finally he landed, exhausted, both physically and emotionally. Passing out on a beach, his last conscious thought was hoping someone other than the madman’s beastmen found him.
AEGIS agents, called in about a creature sighted just outside Freedom City, were the first to arrive. Taking him in, the cell they placed him in proved ineffective at containing him, as he freaked out and emitted an ear-shattering screech. Plexiglas broke like a cheap bottle, blown outward by the incredible force. It took Commander Floppy and Pathfinder to calm him; at least enough for a chance to explain where he was.

Telling his tale, it was obvious that Splicer was behind Jeremy’s transformation. The news that almost all his victims can’t be changed back was a shock, but he bounced back in short order. Being 17 and currently underage, he couldn’t join the Monster Squad just yet, but nothing in the rules said they couldn’t train him. And 6 months later on his 18th birthday, Jeremy was dubbed Snatch and inducted into the Monster Squad in mid-2004.

Description: Jeremy is an attractive young man, with athletic build and tone. With long black hair on his head and a pair of ice blue eyes which show a mischievous gleam, his non-human traits make him stand out. His ears have become long and pointed; a pair of large, black bat wings extends from his shoulder blades and from the base of his spine a prehensile tail hangs, ending in a tuft of hair.

With his abilities, looks and altered physiology, he prefers to not wear shirts most of the time, a baggy pair of sweatpants with a hole for his tail and not much else. Only in cold or hot environments where he needs the protection does he put on more clothing.

Personality: Snarky, sarcastic and possessed of a razor-sharp wit, Jeremy knows how to get under people’s skin and truly annoy them. His transformation only served to enhance this, as he will taunt guards as he makes his escape and sling insults even when faced with the likes of a dragon. He will almost never back down from a confrontation, holding his own with words, knowledge or when need be, force. Only among those he calls friend does he ease up and leave the insults for those who deserve it.

Powers and Abilities: Snatch is a human-bat hybrid, with additional DNA spliced in. His natural strength and stamina were increased some, but his agility, reflexes, manual dexterity and enhanced kinesthetic skills were greatly enhanced to near-superhuman levels. These boosted his acrobatics, sleight of hand and stealth skills beyond what his training would account for.

He possesses bat wings which extend from his shoulder blades and allow him to fly fairly fast; a natural sonar which he can use to navigate or for a variety of sonar-based attacks he has developed; enhanced physical and mental speed which allows him to perform many task in 1/4th the normal time; a prehensile tail as strong and agile as his arms; and enhanced cellular regeneration that makes him immune to disease and poisons, while recovering from injuries much faster than a normal human.

He is a natural quicker learner and has developed various skills while living on the streets. From climbing and running like a trained athlete, acrobatics skills where he moves with incredible grace, skill in fast talking and persuasion, and various skills developed through criminal activities.

Tactics: Snatch is all about stealth and avoiding a fight, sneaking in and out of a location without being spotted. He has learned how to use this stealth to aid in a fight, slipping out of sight moments after attacking. If forced into a fight, he will try to slip into the shadows and ambush his foe[s], while slinging insults and snarky comments their way to through them off their game. When push comes to shove, he will resort to his sonar attacks, first trying to knocking them out and failing them bringing the pain.

While fighting alongside other Monster Squad members, he tries to set-up his opponents for a strike from those more suited to it or will try and trick them into hitting each other. He will never use his sonar attacks if allies or innocents are in the path.

Allies: The Monster Squad is all the family he has and his only allies; even AEGIS he likes to keep at arm’s length.

Enemies: Splicer wishes to recapture Snatch to study him, next to his early success with Floppy he is his greatest work yet; animal-human hybrid with additional changes to the DNA.

P.S. Not to beg, but comments would be appreciated. Tell me what you like about the characters, items, etc., what you don't like and how you think I can improve on them, either their builds, descriptions, history, etc.

Some really cool stuff here Psistrike. I did have a question on Brickhouse. Are you using a custom rule where characters with growth reduces their attack bonus? I checked your first page and didn't see anything though I could have missed it.

Nope, just have her Close Combat: Unarmed as Enhanced with a Limited that makes it reduce the skill rank per 2 ranks of Growth active. Thought it fit her as a skilled fighter but one limited by her size; plus it keeps her within PL caps. :D
