Speak for yourself. I for one take great satisfaction when Graham whips player level 10 ass. Especially when they're powerhouses or some variation of that.
Well, we don't all have Whip-Snap! at our disposal like Graham does ;}

Seriously though, I wasn't asking for easier opponents. I was just trying (and failing) to make a funny. Having a big bad villain to take down can be awesome.
Please who needs the Whip-Snap! when you can just steal their souls and keep them in mason jars. Melissa does just fine.

Background: Athena was born fully-grown from the head of Zeus. The natural opposite of her brother, the god of war Ares, in almost every respect, the two of them were each viewed as potential successors to Zeus. Hoping to prevent himself from being overthrown in the same manner as his own father, Kronos the Titan, Zeus has always played the two off against one another.

Athena was part of a small faction of Cosmic Eternals that felt humanity needed to be left alone, to no longer be manipulated by the various pantheons. Eventually they managed to persuade all of the other Cosmic Eternals to leave humanity be and allow them to fend for themselves and for two thousand years they watched as mankind grew in power. It was during World War II that Ares, the Greek God of War noticed a significant increase in his power and over the following decades as various international conflicts happened he manipulated people and events so that his powers continued to increase to the point that he was finally able to physically manifest himself in the mortal world thanks to the then time ongoing Gulf War.

This was too much for Athena and she willingly underwent a ritual to make herself mortal to battle against Ares’ evil. Several of her siblings supported her by giving her several unique artifacts, a helmet, a shield and a sword, to help make up for some of the power Athena had given up to stay within the confines of the set in Pact. Time and time again she successfully thwarted Ares’ efforts until the former goddess ultimately destroyed her brother’s vessel at the climax of their last fight, returning Ares to Olympus where Zeus condemned him to Tartarus as punishment for breaking the Pact.

Athena returned to Olympus with the permission of her father, but it soon became clear that her experiences on the mortal world had further altered her opinions and thoughts on certain matters as she began to express views that some of the other members of the Olympian Pantheon found disturbing. Athena had always been different from the other Olympians - where they existed over their corner of the overpopulated planet Earth, indulging themselves in all their appetites, she was interested in fostering civilization, and while the Greek pantheon was not outright malevolent, they felt Athena was unhealthily fixated on humans.

Unfortunately Ares had gained enough power during his time on Earth to be able to re-manifest on Earth; however some have suggested that Hades allowed the God of War to leave his realm to prevent his wife from being seduced by the handsome Olympian. None of them have ever bothered to give voice to this theory while the Lord of the Underworld is within earshot.

Ares’ return to the mortal world made it inevitable that Athena would return to Earth as well, but this time Zeus proclaimed that she would not be allowed to return to Olympus while he was king of the Gods. Athena has yet to regret her choice and continues to fight the good fight, as it honestly wasn’t too difficult a choice for her; the corruption of Olympus and responsibility of having so much power but inability to use it was maddening. Also by that time she'd grown sick of her family's machinations, if it wasn't her brother Ares plotting against her, it was Zeus trying to set her against Ares, or it was her stepmother Hera who still holds a bit of a grudge over Zeus’ dalliance with Athena’s mother, Metis.

But the main reason for Athena’s choice was that after many centuries of thought and consideration on the subject combined with the time she’d spent in the mortal realm, Athena realized that she should not stand above mortals as a deity who was wiser or greater (as she’d done the heyday of the Greek civilization) but that she should work alongside them, sharing in their struggles while building a better civilization.

Athena has since gone on to prove herself as one of the greatest heroines currently active, even earning herself membership in the Sentinels, however she is only a reserve members since she keeps a fairly busy solo career since she prefers to be more proactive than many other heroes are. Athena has helped prevent wars, brought peace to nations, and saved the planet from alien invasions (alongside the Sentinels mostly), nevertheless she worries tremendously about the possibility of losing her life and leaving the planet defenseless against Ares. Athena is eternally young, but both on her own and as part of the Sentinels she has faced dangers that can kill even a god and her brother knows of a few creatures (that are currently thought to be extinct) that can as well.

Complications:
Feelings Are Complex: Due to her artifical nature and unusual upbringing (or actual lack thereof), Gimmick can be confused by the workings of human soicety and interaction.

For The Love Of SCIENCE!!: Gimmick feels that science is a grand an exciting experience which leads to the creation of wonders and will often spend long hours in her lab working on some random idea she has had. This also means that sometimes Gimmick gets a little too wrapped up in analyzing items in the field and has to “brought back on track” from time to time.

Background: Gimmick the Gadget Girl is a creation of the twisted mad scientist, Doctor Shock. She was his attempt to create a spy of sorts for him in the world at large, thus her main design feature was to blend into society and keep tabs on what heroes were doing what, where and when and report it back to her creator at regualr intervals.

The problem was that Doctor Shock made the mistake of making Gimmick a super genius in her own right, who promptly figured out she was manufactured bio-droid, deleted the pre-programmed loyalty implants that had been hardwired into her brain, and tried to escape. Doctor Shock managed to capture her and placed her in stasis until he could figure out the extent of her malfunction and correct it but unfortunately for him it was only a short time later that he ran across afoul of FORCE Ops and ended up having to abandon his base to preserve his own freedom.

So when AEGIS arrived on the scene and began to thoroughly search the demented doctor’s underground lab they found Gimmick, at first assuming she was another one of his nameless victims that they’d managed to save and released her from the stasis pod she’d been kept prisoner in. She then proceeded to inform them of the mistake as to “who” she was and then proceeded to help the on-site agents document and catalogue everything they found in the hidden laboratory as well as save an agent who was almost killed due to exposure to one of Dr. Shock's many other ongoing experiments.

Following that Gimmick was put through a battery of various tests so that AEGIS techs and doctors could get, at least, a basic understanding of her unique biology as well as an understanding of her abilities. Chief Director Bonham decided that the Reserve, AEGIS’ own team of metahumans, could use someone with her particular talents and after a quick training period at the AEGIS academy, Gimmick joined the Reserve despite protests from the Patriot, who normally had control over the recruitment of new members. In the short time since he’s lightened up on the matter, finding that despite her quirkiness, Gimmick is an asset to the Reserve (even though she quickly figured out his secret and had to be sat down and have it explained to her and then a swore to secrecy herself, not even Director Powers is aware that Gimmick knows the Patriot’s secret).

Despite the fact she’s technically only a few months old (however she looks like she’s barely eighteen), Gimmick was “grown” with a large amount of implanted knowledge by Dr. Shock and possesses a genius level intellect combined with an almost intuitive understanding of several different fields of science and technology. You or I can look at a rundown car and just see a rundown car, but to Gimmick sees several ways to restore the body, make the engine run on solar energy while operating at a performance level that’s equal to a NASCAR racer.

Gimmick can often times found in one of the various AEGIS labs tinkering on some idea she’s recently had (like the time Minotaur mentioned the motorized can-opener needed to be fixed; Gimmick realized that it would be more efficient if it used a small laser to cut open the cans….which led to a few minor accidents when said cans exploded as the food inside them became superheated in a extremely short time which left them under immense pressure, and we’re not going to get into what happened when she saw the “Back to the Future” movies, honestly the less that’s said about that incident the better off we all are).

Real Name: Regina “Gina” Pellerano
Height: 5’ 2”
Weight: 107 lbs
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Blue

Complications:
Curse Of The Rookie: The Twist is fairly new to the world of superheroics, so she’s bound to make some mistakes until she “learned the ropes”.

Molecularly Unstable: The Twist can only be out of her cohesion suit for only a few hours a day, otherwise her body will “melt”.

Background: Gina Pellerano grew up in New Jersey, living your typical, mundane life until she got into computers in high school where she discovered she had a natural talent for them. Upon graduation she managed to parlay her talent as a way into AEGIS, working as one of the many techs the agency employed.

One fateful day, Gina’s investigation team was among the ones tapped to search Dr. Shock’s newly discovered lab in Wharton State Forest but during the course of her work she came across a vial that she accidently broke and exposed herself to something called the Wild Card Virus that Dr. Shock had in storage. Unfortunately, the virus proved to have an almost fatal effect on Gina; her body began slowly breaking down, dissolving into a puddle of protoplasm. Luck was on her side however as Gimmick, a sentient creation of Dr. Shock’s that actually valued human life and had been freed during AEGIS’ investigation of the abandoned lab, worked with the AEGIS scientists that were on site and together were able to stabilize Gina’s condition, quickly putting her into the unique suit they hurriedly crafted which slowed her cellular decay until they were able to get her back to headquarters where a better made suit could be built.

Over the following weeks Regina found out how she had been changed; the molecules of her body were now much more loosely connected than in a normal person, and she learned she could stretch and twist her body in fantastic dimensions. Thrilled to have survived and choosing to use her newly gained powers in service to AEGIS, Regina dubbed herself "The Twist" and sent a transfer request to Director Powers asking if she could join the Reserve. Although not the youngest member of the Reserve, Gina is the one who has had powers for the shortest period of time, making her the rookie of the team. Gina still has a lot to learn about using her powers but her enthusiasm makes up for her lack of experience.

Thanks to some follow up gene therapy done by the Albright Institute, Regina no longer is in danger of dying from being removed from her suit. Although she does slowly “melt”, becoming a pile of living protoplasm if she goes without wearing the suit for too long (it’s an experience Regina describes as being "really relaxing", which leads her to purposely let herself "melt" during her downtime).

Yay Gimmick!

I like The Twist too and how you incorporated the Wild Card Virus. I have a feeling that might show up again.

I've been wanting to include the Wild Card virus in my setting and trying to figure out a means to do it. As I was looking over how others had used the Twist I saw where Crinos had made her a survivor of it and immediately knew how I could do it. It's not the initial outbreak of it but it's one way that's it's had an effect in the setting.

Real Name: Serena Mass
Height: 5’8”
Weight: 135 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eye Color: Green

Complications:
Motivation ~Doing Good: Serena is determined to oppose her birth-father, Orkus, and use her powers and resources to be a positive force in the world.

Responsibility: Serena is the leader of the Tomorrow Society.

Secret: Serena is the daughter of the King of the Entropic Masters, Orkus.

Background: Otto Von Mass did not survive the end of World War II but his family and research lived on. Otto Von Mass’ brother, Ludwig Von Mass, took his brother’s family to the United States as part of Operation: Paperclip. As Count Reich, Ludwig Von Mass was far more devoted to the occult than his brother had been to science and he believed that a combination of genetics and magic would result in more powerful superhumans than mere science alone could achieve, Ludwig then used the results of his experiments to found the terrorist movement known as the Fourth Reich (which would later become the mystically-themed terrorist group Death’s Head).

The Fourth Reich was eventually defeated and their leader was killed during combat with the Patriot (though Ludwig would later be resurrected as an undead creature in Argentina). However, Ludwig had permanently poisoned his family’s bloodline, for in addition to increasing the family’s potential for developing metahuman abilities; he was responsible for laying the ground work that would ensure that Mass family would, at some point, bear the child of Orkus.

Serena Mass was born in 1985 and grew up relatively normal, despite her unholy origins while any household servants who commented on the strange events in the family home were quickly dismissed. It was only upon her fourteenth birthday that her powers manifested fully, resulting in Orkus appearing and attempting to claim her, nearly killing her entire family in the process if the Master Mage, Adrian Eldrich, hadn’t immediately arrived on the scene after sensing the arrival of Orkus. With the help of the Sentinels, Eldrich was able to drive Orkus back into the portal he had arrived through following a long battle that destroyed the countryside that surrounded the Mass family home and injure just over a hundred people.

Serena was vilified by the media, something which her brother, Cassius, took personally. Willfully ignoring the mystical nature of his sister’s calamity, Cassius vowed to protect the metamen of the world, most of whom had no support network to turn to on the onset of their powers. Serena, on the other hand, was formally introduced to Adrian Eldrich and began instruction under his watchful eye.

After learning all she could from the Master Mage, Serena began a career as a solo hero, all in an effort to get some good out of what she considered the darker part of her life but after only a few adventures she met mystical hero Black Wing and alongside him, joined with several other newer heroes against a common foe and afterwards they decided to stay together as a new team that was unconnected to any of the already established groups of the time – the Outsiders. For several years the Outsiders dealt with all manner of criminals as their cases ended up taking them all across the United States, rarely leaving them active in Freedom City.

Unfortunately the Outsiders came to a tragic end when one of their foes, Zaran, came after them with a vengeance; killing the others before Black Wing and Serena were able to stop him. However the pair was sent over eighty years into the future as a result of their efforts. It is unclear if the future that Serena and Black Wing spent five years in was their own or perhaps that of an alternate reality but one thing became clear to the duo – the civil war between human and metaman that had ravaged the world needed to be stopped so that wasteland they lived through did not become a reality. During their trip to the future Serena learned that what was the start of it all was her brother, Cassius Mass, forming a small army around himself and fighting with terrorist-like tactics against humanity in an effort to oppose the persecution of metamen all over the world. What Cassius ended up doing was starting a race war between humans and Metamen that turned the United States into little more than war zone from coast to coast.

After finally returning to her own time Serena decided to use her portion of the family fortune to create an alternative path to the one Cassius was already building and the Tomorrow Society is the result of her efforts. It was difficult at first; there was only Serena and Black Wing and the connections they’d developed but as the years went on they gained allies and the Tomorrow Society slowly grew in size.

Serena constantly questions if she’s doing the right thing or if the group is really achieving its overall goal. The Tomorrow Society has managed to stop numerous Gene Nation plots, rescue dozens of victims of Project: Icarus, and has even saved the world on a couple of occasions, but the Tomorrow Society is hated by nearly everyone. Either they’re lumped together with her brother’s group, attacking locations that turn out to be secretly funded by the government or they’re just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Add all of that to the fact that most of the members are either too unusual in appearance or are considered to be a threat to society to ever be really accepted by the common man.

Real Name: Alexander “Alex” Timmons
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Family Ties: Black Wing has recently learned that he’s the son of infamous criminal Death Mask II.

Responsibility: Black Wing is supposed to maintain the balance between the forces of light and darkness.

Background: Alex Timmons had knew from an early age that his family was different from most other peoples; he knew that other families were made of mothers and fathers, not an aunt raising her nephew with the help of a manservant named Chun who wore silk robes everyday. But Alex knew Aunt Adrianna loved him and he hated the times that her job, some kind of freelance work that allowed her to have large amounts of free time, forced her to leave for extended periods of time which left Alex in the care of Chun until she would finally return.

Despite those oddities Alex’s life was fairly normal – he went to public schools, he had friends, he seemed to be fairly popular with the neighborhood girls as well and had a few hobbies that held his interest through his younger years (though Alex was into a wide variety of subjects; martial arts, electronics, computers, and chemistry to name a few).

When Alex was seventeen his Aunt Adrianna died of a heart attack, leaving him distraught while Chun was the one to carry out Adrianna’s final wishes; the reading of her will in which she left everything to Alex, including something that was called the Nightstar Sapphire. It was then that Alex learned that his aunt’s former job was actually a family legacy of maintaining the balance between the force of light and darkness, dealing with creatures and people who wished to use others for their own twisted and often immoral ends. The Nightstar Sapphire had been an artifact Adrianna had discovered while working and after spending some time learning what she could about the artifact, she began to use it as part of her repertoire and now she wanted Alex to use it so that he could take over her work.

Alex quickly threw himself into the work, finding it to be extremely satisfying as he traveled about the country, helping those in need who had no other place to go, all the while improving his skill with the Nightstar Sapphire and calling himself Black Wing. And it was during this time that he encountered several other newer heroes, including Serena Mass, a student of Adrian Eldrich, and a team was eventually formed – the Outsiders. Alex used the fortune his aunt had left to him to cover most of the needs of the other members while also offering up his mansion as the group’s base of operations.

A couple of years later the majority of the Outsiders were killed, with only Alex and Serena surviving but they were thrown several decades into the future (though they’re not 100% certain it was their own or perhaps the future of an alternate reality) but they spent five years there trying to figure out a way to get back home while helping those that needed it. During their time there Alex was injured so badly that Serena was forced to do a makeshift blood transfusion to save his life, unknowningly giving him minor entropic abilities that helped him to survive their ordeal.

As the duo traveled across what used to be known as the United States they learned what had happened – Serena’s brother, Cassius Mass (also known as the Red King) the leader of the Gene Nation, had started a race war between humans and metahumans that had ended up razing not only the country but a good portion of the world.

After finally returning to their own time Serena quickly decided to use her family’s fortune to create an alternative path to the one the Red King was already building, something Alex agreed with wholeheartedly and he contributed part of his own considerable finances as well, the result of their efforts is the Tomorrow Society. It was difficult for the two of them at first; just the two of them, using various connections they’d developed over the years but as time went on they gained allies and the Tomorrow Society grew to its current size.

Real Name: Ashley Morgan
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 150 lbs
Hair: Red
Eye Color: Green

Complications:
In Debt: Crimson Tarantula owes her life to Mr. Infamy and he tasked her with owing him three favors, of which she's paid off two.

Vampire’s Cravings: Crimson Tarantula is aware of the unnatural urges her vampiric nature forces upon her and fights against them daily.

Vulnerable: Crimson Tarantula takes additional damage (+50% to DC) from items/objects made of silver.

Vulnerable: If Crimson Tarantula is exposed (ingestion/highly concentrated skin exposure) to garlic she must make a Fortitude Check (vs. Affliction 10 [Dazed, Stunned, Incapacitated] {Extra: Cumulative})

Background: Ashley Morgan was the daughter of a AEGIS agent and wanted nothing more than to follow in her father’s footsteps. Unfortunately, she was discovered at her fourteenth birthday to have superhuman abilities, and AEGIS’ policy at that time was to exclude such individuals from service. It did not help that her powers were telepathic in nature - no one wanted her near minds bearing sensitive secrets.

Recruited by an organization that called itself S.T.R.I.K.E., which claimed to be a branch of the CIA, Ashley went through a year of grueling training. Strangely, her handlers all had telepathic shielding and seemed to wield weaponry that was beyond what normal United States soldiers possessed. Eventually, she was unleashed on a series of missions that were extremely brutal and tested her both mentally and spiritually. These missions put her against the likes of S.H.A.D.O.W. and P.H.A.N.T.O.M., Ashley was also occasionally dispatched against organized crime outfits and various individuals she had been told were criminals, though what crimes they had committed was not told to her.

Eventually Ashley learned the truth; that she wasn’t working for the CIA at all. Instead, she was actually working for V.I.P.E.R. and she was offered a chance to join Dragon Branch to help overthrow the United States, Ashley instead killed her handlers. Running away from her former comrades, she spent two years on the run before eventually convincing AEGIS to take her in.

A long and difficult struggle for acceptance followed as most the other agents did not trust her and even her supporters, including Chief Director Bonham and Special Agent Alex Vezini, did not believe she was entirely free of V.I.P.E.R.’s control, an assumption that was proven when latent brainwashing commands that had been implanted in Ashley’s subconscious were activated and she killed several higher ranking members of AEGIS. It was only due to the help off the Sentinels that Ashley was stopped without being hurt and their willingness to accept Ashley as their permanent, live-in liaison prevented her from being locked away for life.

Ashley’s life finally and irrevocably changed for the worse when she was killed during the Orkus Invasion. Mourned by her friends, she was restored to life by Mr. Infamy appeared to her in those final moments, offering her one of his well known "deals" - one that would allow her to continue living. Ashley, afraid of dying agreed and Mr. Infamy transplanted her consciousness into the body of vampiric supervillainess Crimson Tarantula, who was then in a coma following a fight with members of the Sentinels. She was forced to fight an mental battle for her newly gained body against it's former owner; Ashley ended up using her psychic powers to destroy the mind of the original Crimson Tarantula to take control of the body for her own but is now trapped in a state of undeath. What nobody knows is that Mr. Infamy price was that she will repay him with three favors for that deal instead of his usual one-for-one trade.

To date, Ashley has repaid two so far.

Despite having managed to return to the world of the living (as well as return to her place with the Sentinels), Ashley remains somewhat uncomfortable in her own skin. Her family believes she is dead and she continues to let them think that as she fears the truth would be more painful for them to deal with. Also her transformation into a vampire has also caused her relationship with Technomancer to fall apart. For a short time she considered simply ending her life but an encounter with members of Gene Nation and the Tomorrow Society convinced her not to as she found herself making a difference in the lives of others (something she’d not felt in many years). Shortly after that Ashley left AEGIS and the Sentinels to join the Tomorrow Society where she finds more acceptance than she has since her vampiric resurrection.

Black Wing has helped her a great deal by developing a serum that mimics the haemoglobin in human blood that Black Court Vampires need to survive on. An interesting side effect as this treatment has continued over several years is that Ashley’s vampiric vulnerabilities have weakened severely; the most shocking change is that she is no longer hurt by exposure to UV light. However Ashley has also noticed that she’s now not anywhere near as physically strong or as resistant to injury as she originally was upon taking control of her new body.

Despite the fact she’s never tasted human blood Ashley has become much more somber compared to her formerly fun-loving and vivacious personality as her need for blood, or rather the serum Black Wing came up with, deeply unsettles her. Ashley has also noticed that she has become increasingly sexual in her demeanor where as before she’d been a more demure person. This bothers her as the shift in personality has been subtle and there is no clear reason for it, though Black Wing has expressed the view that it might have something to do with her unconsciously substituting this way of acting in place of hunting prey to satisfy her cravings that are taken care of by her taking the serum.

Real Name: Jimmy Ruiz
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 155 lbs
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Hunted: Project: Icarus would like to bring Prototype back under their control.

No Fine Control: Without his armor Prototype’s Electromagnetic Energy Generation can go off if he gets angry or otherwise upset.

Background: Jimmy Ruiz’s metaman ability to generate massive amounts of electromagnetic energy was of great interest to Project: Icarus but his lack of control over it was a problem. So they surgically implanted cybernetic tech into his body that enabled Jimmy to sync with a suit of power armor which used the energy his body produced to power it, and allowed Jimmy to better control his powers. His handlers meanwhile made sure to drill the idea into Jimmy’s head that without the suit his powers made him a threat to the public but that their scientists would eventually come up with a way form him to completely control his powers. Until that time he would perform certain jobs for them as payment for the care they provided for him and they codenamed him Prototype.

For the most part Prototype was used as a tool of Project: Icarus to strike back at the Tomorrow Society as well as attempts to capture the Masterson twins and bring them back to the Project. Their relationship went on like this for several months until finally Ultimatum and Prototype were transported to Anti-Earth where they were forced to work together for over a week avoiding the Tyranny Syndicate’s efforts to capture them. During that time the two exchanged their personal stories and Ultimatum learned the truth of his foe and realized that the Tomorrow Society could probably help him.

Once the Tomorrow Society rescued the pair, the young hero shared his former enemy’s reasons for coming after them. With some technical help from Black Wing, who disabled the control circuits as well as removing the self destruct systems that had been hidden in the armor, followed by testing from Madame Tomorrow that proved Prototype’s powers weren’t totally dependent upon the armor they were able to free Prototype from the control Project: Icarus had over him. As a way to make up for all the things he’d been forced to do for Project: Icarus Prototype joined the Tomorrow Society and has went on to prove he’s a hero as much as any of them are.

Real Name: Ken Masterson
Height: 6’6” (as Ultimatum) // 5’4” (as Masterson)
Weight: 250 lbs (as Ultimatum) // 120 lbs (as Masterson)
Hair: Brown
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Family Matters: His sister, Jun (also fellow teammate Valkyrie).

Just A Kid: Ultimatum is actually a thirteen year old boy and doesn’t have the experience or mindset one would expect his superhuman form (which looks adult) to have.

Motivation ~Thrills: Let’s be honest about it; Ultimatum is living every kid’s dream here! He’s a super hero! Of course he’s enjoying it for all it’s worth (in his mind at least).

Secret Identity: Ken Masterson. In his normal identity Ken has Strength 0, Stamina 0, and Fighting 2 with corresponding adjustments to his skill ranks and defenses.

Background: Ken Masterson and his sister Jun are fraternal twins; the result of an experiment carried out by Project: Icarus to produce psionic agents by way of in vitro fertilisation. The genetic material of seven different low-level psychics, who possessed various abilities, was specially mixed to maximize the potential of the children that the experiment was to produce and was implanted into a young woman who was paid to act as a proxy mother.

The fact that the experiment produced twins was seen as a bonus by those running the experiment and both children were placed with lower ranking agents of Project: Icarus to allow them to grow in a “natural environment” until they showed signs of manifesting their psionic potential, at which point they would be brought back in to be fully tested and trained in their developing abilities.

What they hadn’t counted on was the Masterson twins manifesting their abilities much earlier than expected.

The details of what caused Ken to manifest his ability to become Ultimatum are unknown but he quickly chose to use his powers to become a superhero, the problem was that he was only an eleven year old boy who had a very skewed view on what it took to be a hero and the end result of his efforts led to some of the worst cases of massive property damage and bystander injuries known in the U.S. and led to Ultimatum becoming a wanted man by the law enforcement community.

Eventually Jun revealed to Ken her own powers, which were somewhat similar (as in she transforms into a superhumanly powered, adult form) but had a very different manifestation, and the two siblings became a heroic duo. During that time they unintentionally interfered in the operations Project: Icarus had set up in their home town and made themselves targets of that organization, fighting several of their empowered agents (including Dirt Devil, Firehawk, Hardwire, Hot Rox, Meathook, Skullbuster, Torso and Warbird). Despite their inexperience, Ultimatum and Valkyrie managed to not only hold their own but defeat every agent Icarus sent after them.

It was those fights and the coverage of all the damage being done by Ultimatum that drew the attention of the Tomorrow Society and soon they came to town looking for the two new local “heroes”, and after a couple short exchanges between the Project’s agents (which the members of the T.S recognized due to their past experiences with Project: Icarus) as well as the Masterson twins (in their alternate forms that is) Black Wing managed to figure out some of the truth behind Ultimatum and Valkyrie based on their personalities and certain responses made during their short altercations. Soon enough Madame Tomorrow was knocking on the Masterson’s door and after a short talk had pieced together enough bits to almost have the full story.

It was at the almost end of that talk when the agents of Project: Icarus proceeded to kick in the door for a surprise raid, having managed to figure out a way to track Ultimatum and Valkyrie down. A fierce fight began in earnest as the Ken and Jun quickly transformed and fought side by side with Madame Tomorrow, who’d just finished calling the rest of the Tomorrow Socitey in, and during that fight Ken and Jun’s adoptive parents showed their true colors as they attacked the kids along with the rest of the Project’s forces. By the time that Black Wing and the others got there Madame Tomorrow, Ultimatum and Valkyrie had wiped out the Project’s non-powered people and with reinforcements the Tomorrow Society quickly finished off the metaman agents so they could make their getaway.

Once back at Castle Mass, Ken flat out refused to be sent to one of Madame Tomorrow’s safe havens even with Jun pointing out it would be best for them. He even passed on the offer of attending Claremont – he was already a hero as far as he cared and wanted to make sure that no one else would have to go through what he and his sister just had (plus Ken felt that with his superpowered form looking like an adult that he’d just look stupid at Claremont). He went as far as to threaten to run away and continue his heroic career on his own if he would be turned down.

Eventually Madame Tomorrow agreed to let the Masterson twins join the Tomorrow Society, but she was smart about it – she went to family court (using a fake identity provided by Black Wing) and got legal, custodial guardianship of the Masterson children, and made it clear just exactly who was in charge of the team as well as who was in charge of the newly formed family. Ken now is home schooled, along with Jun when not on missions with the Tomorrow Society (and it seems like whenever he screws up during a mission, Ken suddenly finds himself with double the amount of ‘homework’). But Ken doesn’t let that kind of stuff get him down, he’s bounced back a few times before and remembers just how hard life can be as well, besides he gets to pretty much train almost anytime with guys like Black Wing and Prototype.

Ken transforms into Ultimatum by creating ectoplasm (a substance that psionically gifted people are able to create and manipulate for various uses, though Ken’s method is admittedly very unique) around his body and subconsciously shaping it into the form of a twenty-something, man with long hair, that has exceptionally large, and over-defined muscular development. When he wishes to change back to his normal self, Ken simply dismisses the ectoplasm (though where it goes to is still unknown).

As Ultimatum he possesses tremendous strength with unknown limits and a resistance to physical injury is also exceptionally high. Ken can also fly or move himself at superhuman speeds and his ectoplasmic body is also highly resistant to many environmental hazards. Ken is thought to be a unique kind of psychic by Madame Tomorrow, as his brain shows all the classic signs of higher functioning like most psychics do but the way his powers manifest have been altered by the experiments done to him by Project: Icarus – his telekinesis is tactile based apparently and has been labeled as very limited because of the fact he needs to make physical contact with an object to move it.

Secret Identity: Jun Masterson. In her normal identity Jun has Strength 0, Stamina 0, Agility 0, Dexterity 0, Fighting 1, Awareness 1, and Presence 1 with corresponding adjustments to her skill ranks and defenses.

Background: Jun Masterson and her brother, Ken, are fraternal twins; the result of an experiment carried out by Project: Icarus to produce psionic agents by way of in vitro fertilization. The genetic material of seven different low-level psychics, who possessed various abilities, was specially mixed to maximize the potential of the children that the experiment was to produce and was implanted into a young woman who was paid to act as a proxy mother.

What they hadn’t counted on was the Masterson twins manifesting their abilities much earlier than expected. The details of what caused Jun to manifest her ability to become Valkyrie are unknown but she was wise enough to realize that she needed to develop a measure of control over her newly gained powers before doing anything with them in public. So many days after school and nights when she claimed to be studying at the library, Jun was hunkered away in a remote spot in the woods near her home working on mastering the basics of her abilities.

Unfortunately her brother wasn’t as level headed as she was, instead choosing to put his powers to immediate use by becoming the hero Ultimatum. Jun quickly figured out Ken’s secret but said nothing to either their foster parents or Ken, instead letting him figure things out on his own (which as far as Jun cared meant the hard way) but periodically she did help him out by providing distractions so Ken could slip away to become Ultimatum and deal with a problem.

Eventually Jun revealed to Ken her own powers, which were somewhat similar (as in she transforms into a superhumanly powered, adult looking form) but had a very different manifestation, and the two siblings became a heroic duo, with Jun trying to balance out Ken’s impulsive nature with only a small amount of success. Eventually Serena agreed to let the Masterson twins join the Tomorrow Society, but she was smart about it – she to family court (using a fake identity provided by Black Wing) and got legal, custodial guardianship of the Masterson children, and made it clear just exactly who was in charge of the team as well as who was in charge of the newly formed family. Junn now is home schooled, along with Ken who isn’t as fond of the lessons they’re assigned and often ends up with extra homework as punishment from mistakes he’s made in the field, when not on missions with the Tomorrow Society. Jun is developing into a good ‘people person’, able to talk with anyone and usually get some kind of useful information out of them as well as a good grasp of team tactics and a desire to use her brain instead of her powers to solve a problem.

Jun transforms into Valkyrie by creating ectoplasm (a substance that psionically gifted people are able to create and manipulate for various uses, though Jun’s method is admittedly very unique) around her body and subconsciously shaping it into the form of a twenty-something, woman with long blonde hair, that is in good physical shape. When she wishes to change back to her normal self, Jun simply dismisses the ectoplasm (though where it goes to is still unknown).

As Valkyrie she is able to generate and manipulate electrical energy for a few different effects. Jun can also fly or move herself at superhuman speeds and she is able to protect herself from many hazards thanks to a protective field of energy she can create. Jun is thought to be a unique kind of psychic by Madame Tomorrow, as her brain shows all the classic signs of higher functioning like most psychics do but the way her powers manifest have been altered by the experiments done to her by Project: Icarus – her electrokinesis is still somewhat limited but her transformation creates more mentally based enhancements as opposed to purely physical ones like her brother does.
