The Power Company

Post by Tattooedman » Tue Aug 13, 2013 1:37 pm

The Power Company:

Josiah Power was a prominent U.S. lawyer until the Wild Strike happened in Bay City resulting in the empowerment of dozens of new metahumans. His particular, mysterious mutation destroyed his legal career but a few years later Josiah had encountered a number of metahumans who wanted to use their powers either to help others for the most part of equally help themselves in some way. Realizing that there was a potential market for metahumans taking work-for-hire on a case by case basis Josiah formed the Power Company, a heroes-for-hire firm that was willing to do any super-powered job necessary - for a price. Their rates are based on which operatives are hired out; the Power Company is structured as a law firm with some members being considered partners while others are associates. The Power Company has been successful from the start and continues to gather and recruit superpowered individuals to its ranks as they continue to take on the needs of their clients.

Height: 6’6”

Hair: Black (shaved bald)
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Extra Precautions: Josiah contracted ASTRO Labs to build a energy dampening device that he had surgically implanted in his chest. He must first deactivate this device before he can assume his Starstone form.

Prejudice: Wilder Striker.

Public Identity: Josiah Power is publicly known to be a Wild Striker and the founder/owner of the Power Company.

Unwanted Powers: If he could, Josiah would get rid of his powers. As it is he will only use them if a situation arises that is absolutely dire.

Background: One of best lawyers in America until he manifested during the Wild Strike in the middle of court, Josiah Power was dismissed from his law firm. Josiah had little interest in becoming a traditional costumed hero, but it became readily apparent that he could not continue to practice law without undue public attention. Josiah eventually found a way to combine his old skills and newfound abilities when he met Luke Cage, a metahuman who billed himself as a 'Hero for Hire'. Josiah learned of Luke's history while working with him to clear him of crimes he'd been wrongly convicted of, and was inspired to do something similar but instead of being a one-man operation make it a place where multiple metahumans could find reliable jobs that weren't of a criminal nature. Josiah felt it best to structure his new business like a law firm, with partners and associates, as that was what he was familiar with and the concept was easy enough to transfer into this new medium.

He called his organization the Power Company, and using the contacts he’d developed during his career as a lawyer he recruited several unknown or lower powered metahumans to form the base of his company. Many of the people Josiah has recruited since founding the Power Company are put through several ‘training classes’ to develop the kinds of skills needed for the work Josiah finds the Power Company doing, and it is all paid for by Josiah as well; a show on his part that he was willing to invest in his partners and associates so that their company would profit better in the long run.

Real Name: Daniel ‘Danny’ Rand
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue

Complications:
More Than A Hero For Hire: Iron Fist is involved with his local community, having opened a dojo for kids to attend as an alternative to a life on the streets.

Motivation ~Justice: Iron Fist is driven to see that innocent people are protected while the guilty are punished.

Relationship: Iron Fist has been dating private detective Misty Knight for a few years now.

Unique Upbringing: Iron Fist was raised in the Shambala Vale and thus isn’t too knowledgeable of

Background: Daniel Rand is the son of Wendell Rand, who had, as a youth, found the mystic city of Shambala Vale, a secret valley not marked on any map, it is known by many names; the Lotus Land, Pemako, Shangri-la among others. Despite the harsh environment of the mountains, the legendary Vale remains temperate and spring-like year-round, its weather protected by ancient magic, which also shields it from prying eyes. In truth, Shambala Vale is a hidden land; located within a dimensional fold which has kept it concealed from the outside world for untold generations. Mystics from Atlantis settled the vale millennia ago to escape the war between that island nation and the Serpent Empire of Lemuria. They intermarried with the local people and founded a community, protecting it from the elements and potentially hostile outsiders. The eventual destruction of Atlantis affirmed their belief in isolation and pacifism, so they remained and studied the esoteric arts.

During his first ten years in Shambala Vale, Wendell saved the life of one of the masters, Luan, who adopted Wendell as his heir, to the resentment of Tuan's son Yu-Ti. Several years later Wendell competed and won the ritual trial against many of the vale’s greatest warriors which entitled him to claim the power of Shou-Lao the Undying, a man transformed into a mystic serpent over a thousand years ago by the Dragonking Chiantang; however, although great warriors of the Vale had periodically wielded Shou-Lao's power as the Iron Fist, Wendell declined the power. Instead he married a woman named Shakari and they had a daughter they named Miranda Rand-Kai.

Several years later Wendall was showing Shakari and Miranda the nexus that lead back to Earth when Yu-Ti and his men attacked them. Shakari and Miranda were both slain, and the grief-stricken Wendall returned to Earth. Within a year, he became a successful businessman and had remarried, soon having a son, Daniel.

In Wendell’s absence Tuan died and Yu-Ti rose to a position of authority within Shambala Vale. When Daniel was eight years old, his father decided to bring him and his wife, Heather, to Shambala Vale. Accompanied by Rand's business partner Harold Meachum they traveled to the Himalayas, but Wendell fell from a mountain ledge; clutching the edge, he called to Meachum for help, but Meachum, hoping to control Rand's business shares, allowed Wendell to plunge to his death. Shortly afterward, Heather sacrificed her life to protect Daniel from a wolf pack. Inhabitants of Shambala Vale found Daniel and took him in, while a frostbite-crippled Meachum (who had been found by locals and taken back to civilization) learned that Daniel's body was never discovered he immediately suspected the boys survived and spent the next decade preparing elaborate defenses against future attack.

Vowing to avenge his parents, Daniel studied martial arts under Lei Kung the Thunderer, while growing up in the Vale. His closest friends were Hu Tsien and Kun Lun (who was actually Daniel’s half sister, Miranda Rand-K'ai, who had not died and had been raised by Yu-Ti as his own child). At nineteen, Daniel requested and earned the opportunity to win the power of the Iron Fist by confronting Shou-Lao the Undying, whose power resided within a flaming brazier. Daniel slew Shou-Lao, a feat no other warrior had ever accomplished, by pressing his chest to the dragon's, cutting it off from the life energy it absorbed from it's heart, which resided in a nearby brazier. This resulted in a dragon-shaped brand on his chest. He then plunged his hands into the brazier containing the dragon's heart, and gained the power of the Iron Fist.

Shou-Lao's death angered Chiantang, who sought to destroy K'un-Lun in response but was imprisoned by the efforts of Daniel, Hu Tsien, Kun Lung, the warriors of the Vale and the masters of Shambala Vale. The Vale warriors suffered many losses, among them were Hu Tsien and Kun Lun (in truth they had been somehow transported to Earth).

As Iron Fist, Daniel traveled to Earth to seek vengeance on Meachum for allowing the deaths of his parents. However Meachum had always been afraid of his return and placed a bounty of ten thousand dollars on his head when he first appeared in America. Iron Fist eventually overcame Meachum's defenses, but on seeing Meachum was an invalid, he spared the broken man.

Meachum was instead slain by agents of Dr. Sin, who Meachum had done dealings with in the past and had tried to double cross the villain, but this left Iron Fist to be blamed for the murder. Eventually Iron Fist cleared himself with the help of three private detectives he befriended; Misty Knight, Colleen Wing and Jessica Jones, and a semi-retired metahuman lawyer Josiah Power.

While working with Iron Fist, Josiah is impressed with Daniel’s personal outlook on life as well as his ability to handle himself in metahuman incidents. So much so that he offers the young man a partnership in the metahuman for hire group he founded known as the Power Company. Intrigued by the idea of working for profit while still trying to do good works in the world, Daniel accepted the offer and soon met the man who would become his best friend; Luke Cage (despite their vastly different backgrounds, their unwavering commitment to justice uniting them). Once he was cleared of having anything to do with Meachum’s death, Daniel inherited his father’s shares of Rand-Meachum Inc. though he allows Meachum’s daughter, Joy, to handle the running of the company (rightly recognizing the he does not possess the needed skills or knowledge to do so himself). But he has brought a good portion of business to Rand-Meachum by having the company’s technicians do the majority of all technical work for the Power Company.

Iron Fist continues to work as part of the Power Company, and he is considered by many to be the ‘heart and soul’ of the group, often times offering a friendly ear to both other partners as well as associates without any kind of bias between them. His eastern upbringing gives him a unique outlook on things that many of the others don’t often consider.

Real Name: Carl Lucas (Legally changed to Luke Cage)
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 373 lbs
Hair: Black (shaved bald)
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Motivation ~Justice: Luke is driven to see the innocent protected and the guilty punished, no matter who they are.

Not Just A Hero For Hire: Luke often times will take on 'jobs' for as little as a dollar, just so he can say he was 'paid' by a client if their reason for needing his help is one that appeals to his sense of justice.

Prejudice: Ex-con, street thug.

Relationship: Luke is dating private detective Jessica Jones.

Background: Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Carl Lucas spent the majority of his youth as part of local street gang committing petty thefts and fighting with rival gangs. During those years Lucas became close friends with fellow gang banger Willis Stryker, the two of them coming to consider the other to be blood brothers. Following an attempt on his life that ends up killing his then-time girlfriend, Lucas finally realizes how his actions are hurting not only himself but his family and manages to turn his life around, finding legitimate employment

Meanwhile, Stryker rises through the ranks of crime, but the two men remain friends. When Stryker's activities anger , he is badly beaten in a mob hit, saved only by Lucas' intervention. When Stryker's girlfriend, Reva Connors, breaks up with him in fear of his violent work, she seeks solace with Lucas. Stryker is convinced that Lucas is responsible for the breakup, so he plants heroin in Lucas’s apartment and tips off the police. Lucas is arrested, put on trail, found guilty and sent to prison on the trump up charges.

In prison Lucas is consumed by rage over Stryker's betrayal, engaging in frequent brawls and escape attempts and combined with racist acts by one of the guards, a man named Albert Rackham, results in Lucas being placed in solitary confinement.

It is there that Labyrinth scientist, Dr. Noah Burnstein, working under the cover of developing a project for the government picks several inmates, including Luke, to serve as test subjects which is supposed to earn them a reduced sentence (Burnstein is actually testing out a new variant of the DNAscent process). Rackham, hearing what Lucas is doing, sneaks into the area where Burnstein was performing his work and tampers with the controls, causing an overload. Pushed way past its original intent, the resulting incident empowers Lucas with super strength and gives him nearly impervious skin. Lucas uses his power to escape from the prison and later makes his way back to New York City.

Lucas then adopted the name of Luke Cage and combined with his altered looks from Burnstein’s experiment, becomes a ‘Hero For Hire‘, working for anyone who can meet his price. He set up an office in Harlem and works to exonerate himself during which he runs into his former friend, Willis Stryker, now a member of David Rhodes criminal network, who uses his criminal contacts to hire super-mercs Gideon Mace, Chemistro, and Stiletto to stop Luke. Despite the numbers against him, Luke defeats all the men Stryker sent after him and finally manages to get the information he needed to prove his innocence while proving Stryker’s guilt.

Josiah Power, a metahuman lawyer, helped Luke with the appealing of his conviction and getting it overturned in light of the information taken from Stryker. During their time together Josiah learns Luke’s history and inspired by it begins the work to form what would become the Power Company, even convincing Luke to become the company’s first partner).

Luke has remained with the Power Company to this day, and is considered to be the “boss” in the field due to his natural leadership tendencies despite his harsh and gruff attitude. He currently is dating private detective Jessica Jones (herself a low-level metahuman), and has become best friends with fellow Power Company member Iron Fist, who despite their vastly different backgrounds, their unwavering commitment to justice uniting them.

Real Name: Celia Forrestal
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 127 lbs
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Brown

Complications:
Motivation ~Doing Good: Skyrocket uses the Argo Harness to help others.

Not Just A Hero For Hire: While Skyrocket is part of the Power Company, whose employees work for paying clients, she often times will operate as a traditional superhero.

Secret: Skyrocket's identity as Celia Forrestal isn't known to the public.

Background: A Navy aviator who was going nowhere fast because of her gender and her race, Lt. Celia Forrestal's career remained stalled as a training instructor. While looking for some perspective while she considered leaving the service, she visited her parents, scientists in the employ of ASTRO Labs.

The Forrestals had developed a light power armor, named the Argo Harness, that could absorb, convert and redirect all forms of energy. They conceived the harness as a tool for peace, but were also intelligent enough to realize that it also had great potential as a weapon of mass destruction if used by people with the wrong mentality.

Such as VIPER, whose spies had learned of the Argo Harness and shared that information with a local Nest leaders who realized it's potential and attempted to steal it. During their attack an untimely explosion killed the Forrestals, but Celia survived the explosion that killed her parents only because she was wearing the Argo Harness when VIPER had attacked (she’d been helping her parents test it), and she used it to capture some of VIPER’s operatives and turn them over to AEGIS.

At her parents funeral, Celia decided to leave the Navy and go into action as Skyrocket so that she can try to fulfill their wish that the Argo Harness be used as a tool for peace and the benefit of mankind. Unfortunately though a few years later Celia was working part time at a fast food restaurant to subsidize her crime fighting activities (mostly maintaining the Argo Harness on her own) though she was considered to be a local hero of St. Louis, and it was through her activities there that Josiah Power learned about her and eventually recruited her.

After mulling over some serious reservations on her part, Celia decided to join the Power Company, a corporate hero team, as a business partner. Josiah agrees to Celia's one stipulation; that she could do as much pro bono work as she wanted on the firm's dollar. Josiah also provided her with a full technical support crew, including Charlie Lau a former ASTRO Lab scientist, to maintain the harness. Led by Lau's efforts, they improved the machinery inside and out; for example, eliminating its weakness to water.

Real Name: Kevin Mao
Height: 5’8”

Hair: Black
Eye Color: White

Complications:
Prejudice: Obvious Metahuman.

Secret: Ballistic's identity as Kevin Mao isn't known to the public.

Word Of Honor: Ballistic will always keep his word once it is given to somebody.

Background: Kevin Mao was a member of Bay City S.T.A.R. Squad that was mutated into a monster of a man after being bitten by a psychotic serial killer who had been named Frankenstein by the press because he was able to mutate the people he attacked, transforming them into monstrous versions of themselves that left his victims helpless against him. But for some reason Mao instead gained super strength, enhanced senses and his skin became thick, almost armor-like and red in color.

Over the following couple of days at the Albright Institute, Mao decided that he was the best person to now go after Frankenstein given that he already was extensively trained in tactical operations, an excellent marksman and hand to hand combatant and already familiar with Frankenstein's M.O., even though he was technically considered to be on medical leave from the BCPD. Mao used his influence and connections to get access to the S.T.A.R. Squad's armory and went after Frankenstein.

It was a hunt that lasted several days but eventually Mao tracked Frankenstein down, learning he was in fact a Joker and that somehow Mao had gained an immunity to his powers. The following fight was intense and as personal as such a confrontation could get but in the end Mao was able to bring Frankenstein in.

Unfortunately Mao was not allowed to keep his job due to fear of liability issues for having a superhuman policeman and the kind of possible attention from super villains he might attract so he was given his severance package as well as his retirement benefits as compensation and acknowledgement for his years of service. Josiah Power on the other hand was looking for someone with Mao's skillset and wasted no time in contacting the former policeman with an offer of employment that gave him a similar means of using his abilities.

While not the most intelligent of people, Mao was practical enough to realize this was the best offer he would likely see in his lifetime considering his 'condition' and accepted the job offer. He makes good use of his down time to work as a bounty hunter; going after low-level metahumans who go on the run after posting their bail.

Motivation: Fusion is wants to use 'his' abilities to help others.

Power Loss: Fusion is created by the merging of two people that have no powers when separated.

Public Identities: The fact that Curtis and Beth Wilder are the being known as Fusion is known to the general public.

Background: Curtis Wilder and Beth Chambers were both scientists working for ASTRO Labs who had a whirlwind romance and married after only dating for six months, and for the first couple of years everything seemed to be going smoothly for them. But eventually the demands of their jobs began to come between them, which led to frustration for both of them, which turned to passive-aggressive behavior on both their parts, which then turned to Curtis having an affair with an assistant of his. Something his wife could never forgive him for and the two began the process of getting divorced, but that was a complex situation as the pair had both contributed on a project (a 'clean' mini-reactor to use as an alternative form of energy) making a division of their combined properties difficult to sort out.

During this time the Collective had secretly worked it's way into the ASTRO Labs facility where Curtis and Beth both continued to work, intent upon building new, more powerful body for itself from the super advanced technology present there. Over the course of a month the Collective worked in secret, taking bits and pieces from all of the labs present until it had a body ready for use. All that was still needed was a energy source to power the body so that the Collective could download it's neural matrix into it and for that it choose to make use of the mini-reactor that Curtis and Beth had developed together.

But the Collective's efforts to take over the mini-reactor brought it into conflict with ASTRO Labs security and during the short scuffle the reactor was damaged, causing it's mass to become unstable. Realizing what was going to happen the Collective left immediately, not caring that the resulting explosion had the potential to kill everyone within a twenty mile radius. Curtis and Beth didn't hesitate to try and stop the reactor from reaching critical mass, but ended up exposing themselves to massive amounts of it's radiation which caused the pair of scientists to physically merge into a single entity that not only shared both of their intellects but possessed the ability to alter the shape and structure of matter on a molecular level with just a thought as well as manipulate energy for limited uses.

This being, which called itself Fusion, easily prevented the reactor from going critical thereby saving everyone in the surrounding area. Once the crisis was over Fusion split back into the Wilders, leaving them to figure out exactly what had happened to them. The Wilder's condition drew the attention of the Psions (as Parker Psion was very interested in the merged being and the possibilities it represented for the future evolution of mankind) and he dispatched the junior members of the Psions to kidnap the Wilders.

This drew the attention of the Sentinels, who were working with the Wilders to help them understand what had happened to them. After a short fight, during which the Wilders combined to create Fusion and joined the fight, the Psions were driven off and Fusion worked with Doc Steele to learn how 'he' came into being. They learned that the accident had somehow altered the genetics of the two scientists to the point that they now had to periodically combined to survive.

Unable to find work due to their newly gained reputation as a metahuman (mostly the fear of various villains who might come after them either due to their unique condition or simply to fight them) but forced to stay close to one another due to their condition, the Wilders were approached by Josiah Power with an offer to come work for him as part of the Power Company. There the Wilders could engage in whatever forms of research they wanted while receiving a respectable amount of wage and from time to time they would put the abilities of Fusion to use on special jobs designated by Josiah.

Things between Curtis and Beth are still tense at times as it has only been a year since the accident and their subsequent divorce and the two of them are still adjusting to their new lives. They get along in the sense that they don't really talk and generally ignore one another aside from prearranged times set aside for their needed merging, otherwise they don't have much to do with one another. They both are trying to figure out a way to free themselves from their situation but have yet to realize that their best chance of success would be to work together.

Complications:
Linked To The Earth: Anima's powers are connected to the very planet itself, and if she were to tap into it too deeply she could end up causing permanent damage that the Earth might not recover from.

Secret: Anima's identity as Courtney Mason isn't known to the public.

Socially Minded: Anima is driven to help those less fortunate than her and spends much of her free time working to address social issues (such as helping the homeless and teen runaways).

Background: One of the many teenage homeless of New York City, Courtney Mason was taken by agents of the Labyrinth to use as part of the DNAscent Process. After undergoing the process Courtney's powers manifested (which were not the ones the scientists had expected her to develop) and she used them to escape back to her life on the streets. Courtney quickly gained an understanding of the basics of how her powers worked and soon found herself using them to protect herself and other members of the homeless community, which brought her to Josiah Power's attention. Courtney quickly accepts Josiah' offer of membership in the Power Company, though she often works with charity groups that helps the homeless and even donates a large part of her pay to those groups.

Real Name: Nick Kelly
Height: 6’
Weight: 184 lbs
Hair: Black
Eye Color: Hazel

Complications:
Past Mistakes: Argus views his working for the Power Company as a way for him to make right for the things he did working for the Power House.

Reputation ~Bad Boy: Argus is known for being a bit of a rule breaker and resisting authority.

Secret: Argus' identity as Nick Kelly isn't known to the public.

Background: Nick Kelly was a street kid who ended up working for the Power House as one of the many faceless minions. One day his boss decided to try mixing Max with Zoom to see what kind of reaction the taker would have and picked Nick to be the test subject. After being forcibly injected with both drugs simultaneously Nick went on a mini rampage, tearing through his fellow goons and boss in seconds with his bare hands.

From there he made his way to the Albright Institute and just barely managed to explain what had been done to him before passing out. The doctors and scientists there were able to save Nick’s life but the effects of taking both body-altering drugs had made radical changes to Nick’s biology; his strength and reflexes have been increased beyond those of a normal human being in addition to gaining a rapid healing factor and Nick's eyes developed the ability to see through the electromagnetic spectrum (Infra red, Ultra violet, x-ray and radios waves).

Within a month's time Nick was approached by Josiah Power with an offer to join the Power Company. The idea intrigued Nick especially since he had no other job options lined up and had already decided that he wanted to do something vastly different than what he had been doing before gaining his powers, and he accepted. He's had a rough go of things however since he has issues with authority and Nick frequently clashes with fellow member of the Power Company, Ballistic.

Real Name: Andrew Van Horn
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 174 lbs
Hair: Red
Eye Color: Green

Complications:
Enemy: The Foundry.

Gun Saftey: Gunfire cannot wield conventional guns or armaments as his own powers could inadvertently react with the gunpowder in those weapons causing them to explode in his hands.

In Debt: Gunfire works for the Power Company to pay off the debt he owns them for their services.

Responsibility ~Van Horn Industries: Gunfire is the owner of his family's company, Van Horn Industries, though he mostly leaves the day to day running of the business to his board of executives.

Secret: Gunfire's identity as Andrew Van Horn isn't public knowledge.

Background: Andrew Van Horn's great-grandfather began a highly successful munitions and armament company (Van Horn Industries) after World War II, and upon graduating from college Andrew went to work at his family's company. Andrew believed that for Van Horn Industries to survive in the 21st century, they would have to enter other industries rather than simply continue to focus on arms manufacturing and sought to transition Van Horn Industries to more benevolent and ecological products. However he was disappointed that his father, Gunther, was contemptuously dismissive of his ideas, preferring to remain focused on weapons design and manufacturing.

Thinking quickly Andrew threw out a challenge to Gunther - if Andrew could get the company's newest project, an energy weapon that would be capable of disrupting inorganic matter (and thus be a non-lethal option in combat by destroying an opponents weapons and vehicles) within a years time then Andrew could open a new department within the company to pursue his ideas and see if they could work as he said. Intrigued by the idea and liking the idea of getting the weapon done in such a short time, Gunther agreed.

Within five months Andrew had a working model of the weapon and began testing, something that Overshadow found very interesting and sent agents to brake into Van Horn's lab to steal both the weapon and kidnap Andrew. He forced the young weapons designer to build a large scale version of the weapon for him to use as part of a plot to destroy important landmarks all across the United States. This plot drew the attention of the Freedom League and soon they had tracked Andrew and the weapon on S.H.A.D.O.W.'s orbital space station where they'd forced him to build the device. During the fight Andrew ended up being hit by a partial discharge of the weapon, which reacted with Andrew's unmanifested metahuman powers (and possibly warped them) but the trauma left him unconscious for several days. Fortunately the League was able to defeat S.H.A.D.O.W.'s forces and get Andrew to the Albright Institute to be given medical aid.

Over the following months Andrew, with the help of the Institute's staff, learned that he'd developed the ability to agitate the atoms present in matter and convert a portion of their mass to directed blasts of concussive energy. He also learned that the items he worked with needed to have a topological focal point for the blasts (such as the tip of a knife) otherwise he would cause said objects to explode in a matter similar to a grenade but many times more powerful. Items that Andrew uses his powers on will eventually, due to much of their mass being converted to energy, disintegrate.

Gunther Van Horn had been killed when S.H.A.D.O.W. stole the weapon and kidnapped Andrew, which left the young man the C.E.O. of Van Horn Industries. And though he tried to implement his plan for the company he was resisted by members of V.H.I.'s board of executives, only being able to start a small division within the company. Disgusted with the board's lack of vision, Andrew has mostly allowed them to run V.H.I. as it had been before he became the C.E.O. and instead focused his efforts on using his own personal money to develop his ideas separate from the company.

Unfortunately what Andrew was unaware of was that his father had been working with the Foundry for several years and that most of the projects he discontinued when he first took over V.H.I. were contracts from that organization, something that Talos was not willing to let go of and soon agents of the Foundry were attacking V.H.I. holdings in an effort to take possession of 'their property'. Andrew, who was present at the first such attack, was forced to defend his company and it's employees by donning a suit of custom urban combat armor and using his powers.

Thanks to his efforts, and the arrival of the Sentinels, the Foundry agents were forced to pull out without getting the items they'd came to collect, though the damages done to V.H.I.'s property and people was high. Realizing that he couldn't continue to put his people at risk Andrew reached out to Josiah Power to hire some of his people to help him bring a quick and final end to this threat to his company. It took several months but eventually together with Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Witchfire, Striker Z, Skyrocket, Fusion, Argus and Loose Cannon, Andrew (who had taken the name of Gunfire) were able to 'convince' Talos that trying to forcibly reclaim the weapons and vehicles Van Horn Industries had developed for him was more trouble than it was worth (though now the Foundry is constantly sending in spies and saboteurs into Van Horn Industries).

Andrew's next problem was that the bill Josiah Power presented him with was more than V.H.I. could actually afford to pay off in full without virtually bankrupting the company, as most of Andrew's personal wealth was already tied up in his new division while the company's money was invested in their on-going projects. So Josiah offered an alternative - Andrew would come to work for the Power Company but instead of receiving a paycheck his earnings would go towards paying off his debt.

Seeing no other way Andrew agreed. Not that he doesn't somewhat enjoy using his abilities to help others and Josiah isn't a harsh or unfair man; he allows Andrew the same amount of personal freedom as the others employees of the Power Company, so Andrew can continue his work at V.H.I. as the C.E.O. (or at least as much of it as he can manage thanks to the board of executives efforts to stymie his efforts).

Real Name: Edward 'Eddie' Walker
Height: 5’9”/6’6”/7’6”/8’6”
Weight: 160 lbs/640 lbs/850 lbs
Hair: Brown/ Blonde
Eye Color: Blue/Yellow

Complications:
Blinding Rage: Loose Cannon has a third level to his rage, represented by a White coloring to his skin. When he enters that form he becomes little more than a mindless beast, attacking friend and foe alike until he is stopped.

Power Loss: Loose Cannon cannot use his Purple Haze Of Rage or Red Rage power sets unless he becomes enraged, plus he must first use Purple Haze Of Rage and then he must be further angered to use his Red Rage form.

Power Loss: If forced to change back into Eddie Walker, Loose Cannon loses all of his powers and his Strength and Stamina are reduced to 0 and 2, his Fighting is reduced to 4 while his Intellect increases to 2 and he suffers the Disability Drawback due to the damage to his spine which makes it difficult for him to walk without the aid of leg braces and crutches.

Prejudice: Obvious Metahuman.

Temper: Loose Cannon can get a bit TOO angry at times, causing him to do the wrong thing sometimes but never to intentionally hurt innocent people.

Background: Injured on the job as a New York police officer, Eddie Walker volunteered to be part of a trial done by Kessel Corp that was supposed to use stem cells to cure those afflicted with spinal injuries that couldn’t undergo usual surgical procedures (some vertebrae damage is inoperable due to the risk of killing the patient). What Walker didn’t know is that the Kessel Corp doctors were actually using DNA grafts of deceased members of the Grue race.

In Walker’s case the alien DNA interacted with his unmanifested metahuman abilities and allowed him to transform into a superpowered form that possessed high levels of strength and resistance to injury. A side effect that Walker later learned of was that the angrier he became when transformed the more he would grow in strength and size. He changes color from blue to purple, to red, and finally to white due to extreme rage. In his white form he is barely capable of coherent thought and is more like a wild animal than a man.

At first Walker tried using his newfound powers as a hero, but found that most of the time his fights led to large amounts of property damage (given his loosing his temper during those fights which made him less rational), which tended to make those he 'saved' less than friendly towards him (this is also how he earned the name Loose Cannon, thank you Channel 10 news anchor). A few months later Walker got sued by and lost to a storekeeper he'd kept from getting robbed but had practically leveled his store in the process and the compensation bill he had to pay practically wiped out what little savings Walker had.

Almost broke with no way to earn money, as NYPD stopped his benefits since his powers had healed his injury, Walker decided to become a private investigator but had to open up his business in his non-powered identity as nobody would hire him as Loose Cannon. There were a few times Walker ended up using his powers to get himself out of a couple of tight spots but for the most part he kept himself out of trouble and managed to rent a basic apartment flat where he could be Loose Cannon and move about normally and relax.

Eventually though that line of work started to dry up for him as Walker just couldn't get a steady flow of clients to cover his bills and he was nearly homeless when Josiah Power approached him with an offer of steady work. Realizing he couldn't manage on his own, Walker took the job begrudgingly but has since grown to like it as Josiah often sends him out on jobs that are mostly focused on destruction of some sort. Therefore Walker can cut loose a bit and not have to worry about pissing someone off and getting sued anymore, they wanted whatever demolished.

He can do that no problem.

Danny got distracted while performing a dangerous stunt over a vat of experimental fuel cell plasma and ended up falling into the vat where the mutagenic compound permeated his cells, altering his body chemistry and transforming him into a human battery. Danny decides to use his powers to become a super hero, in an effort to further his acting career. His best friend, and former ASTRO Labs scientist, Charlie Lau, creates his uniform and invents his Striker Plates and Flight Jacket, which Danny uses as Striker Z.

On his first adventure, Danny defeats the Golden Sorcerer, actually a transformed Miko Kurata who had also bathed in the fuel cell plasma. The Golden Sorcerer's energy supply is much greater than Danny's and so is able to manifest solid energy constructs but Danny is able is finally able to defeat the Golden Sorcerer by using Omega Cannon to siphon off all his energy. Real Name: Rebecca Carstairs
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 110 lbs
Hair: Red
Eye Color: Blue

Complications:
Fame: Due to her career as a model/pop singer/actress, Witchfire is well-known.

Past Lives: While she uses the identity of Rebecca Carstairs, Witchfire knows that she’s not really that person. Dr. Rune used part of the original Rebecca’s soul to create Witchfire but sometimes parts of Rebecca’s past comes back to haunt Witchfire.

Public Identity: The general public is aware that Witchfire is also Rebecca Carstairs.

Reputation ~Flirt: Witchfire is very found of the opposite sex and is known for being an incorrigible flirt when she finds one she’s attracted to.

Secret: The fact that she is a homunculus is something that Rebecca has kept to herself. She fears both the reactions of her co-workers at the Power Company as well as that of the general public.

Background: A homunculus (a magical-created artificial being) created by Dr. Rune, a member of the Brimstone House, who intended to her use as a tool in his efforts to gain more power within that by having her get close to a few of his rivals then report back to him their plans and activities. Since most homunculi have difficulties in dealing with other people when first made, Dr. Rune used a sliver of the soul of an unnamed witch in Witchfire’s creation so to make her even more human like from the start. That soul sliver gave Witchfire more independence than Dr. Rune had intended for her to have and she escaped at her first chance, confused at first by her situation.

The homunculus quickly fell back upon the implanted identity and memories that her soul sliver gave her - that of Rebecca Carstairs, a young woman who had grown up in an orphanage where she found a book of spells which she developed magical talents from. Witchfire decided to secretly use those abilities to help her break into the entertainment industry. For several years her efforts paid off and Rebecca Carstairs became a semi-famous singer, actress, and model known across the country. Because of all of the odd accidents that often befell her rivals and a really well skilled tabloid reporter, rumors of Rebecca being a real witch began to circulate despite the efforts of Rebecca’s agent to squash them. Eventually though Rebecca came to the attention of Hexenhammer, an immortal witch hunter, who began to stalk the celebrity until he could confirm she was indeed a witch.

Moving in on Rebecca while she was at a photo shoot, Hexen Hammer failed to realize that young woman had sensed someone following after her and had hired the Power Company to provide her with body guard – Luke Cage and Iron Fist, and the two were able to drive Hexen Hammer off since he wasn’t expecting any kind of interference. However he was not put off in the least, Hexen Hammer had dealt with many of a witch’s minions before. So he quickly put together a new plan and soon with members of his cult in place, Hexen Hammer came after Rebecca while she was on the set of her latest TV movie, themed around a super-disaster. While fighting Cage and Iron Fist, one of Hexen Hammer’s attacks damaged the support rails for one of the ‘damaged buildings’ and the large metal structure threatened to fall over onto some huddling members of the crew.

Rebecca immediately moved to help them, casting a teleporting spell that whisked them out of harm’s way before they could realize what exactly was going on. She went on to continue helping evacuate bystanders while the three men fought, making sure nobody was seriously injured and got out safely. Once again Iron Fist and Cage were able to drive Hexen Hammer off, though he swore vengeance upon them for interfering in his ‘holy mission’ but none the less the ‘damage’ had been done to Rebecca’s career – members of the crew had seen her using magic and soon they were tweeting about it and selling their stories about what had happened on the set to various news media outlets.

By the morning of the next day it was all over the news and Rebecca’s phone was ringing off the hook with calls from reporters wanting her reaction to this turn of events and asking for interviews with her; it got the point that she simply dumped her phone and bought a burner to get by on. It wasn’t until that night that Rebecca got a phone call from Josiah Power who asked her to meet with him that night, tired of basically hiding in her apartment Rebecca agreed and a few hours later was face to face with the owner of the Power Company.

Josiah let the young woman vent all she needed about the events of the previous day and once she was done he plainly offered her a associate position in the Power Company, citing that they didn’t have any magic users as part of the company and could use one very much. Rebecca balked at the offer. She wasn’t a hero, she said. She was an entertainer for God’s sake; she had no interest in slugging it out with the super powered set. Josiah simply pointed out the fact that Rebecca hadn’t hesitated to take care of the movie crew while his people were the ones doing all the slugging and hitting, and that instincts like that are hard to teach people. And that was what he needed more than anything else.

Intrigued by Josiah’s point, Rebecca questioned him heavily on what her responsibilities to the company would be and certain other points. Satisfied with the answers she received, Rebecca accepted Josiah’s offer and two days later began her training to become part of the Power Company. Most of Rebecca’s duties to the Power Company revolve around her ability to teleport people and things, though sometimes she is called in as a magical consultant, but for the most part once she had made her delivery she is free to do what she wants with her free time. So she’s continued on with her entertainment career, though she has learned her lesson and doesn’t use her magic anymore to help her in that venture anymore. Thankfully the general public’s attention span is mercifully short once the next big scandal comes out and Rebecca has managed to keep her image clean since.
