I haven't decided yet if it needs to be big enough volume wise or just size wise. For the size it'd be something like he can walk through a closed metal door and change material but if he walked into the edge of an open door all he'd get is a black eye.

Background

Juan is born from a father who served in the US military became a cage fighter and met his mom while training in Brazil. His father was a neo sapain who was just quicker, healed faster than most people but not at super human levels. His mother was a gymnast and studied martial arts as well she was a low level neo sapain with bursts of speed due to adrenaline control. Juan inherited his abilities from bother parents but his power set is his own and an evolution of both his parents powers combined.

Juan has been training and in the Dojo since he was a baby always watching and later on mimicking everyone in the Dojo. Between the ages 5 and 7 he was running around mimicking forms and katas perfectly next to whoever was practicing. Once he saw someone execute a maneuver he could do it also. So he was trained at an early age and learned from every student and master who came in.

Flavor or how his combat reflexes work

Juan’s memory, adrenaline system, muscle control and nervous system are evolved and hyper active. He is constantly taking in information and his brain is on alert for danger. His natural ability to observe and learn is enhanced where he can perfectly mimic anyone’s physical action. This makes him a natural prodigy for physical skills and able to learn and speak other languages. It takes little effort to learn a physical movement while being taught which greatly reduces the time for him to learn and master martial arts styles, acrobatic and gymnastic skills. Combined with his perfect memory he can store endless information of fighting styles and physical skills.

Juan has an innate defensive and offensive natural ability. When facing an person his mind quickly assesses how good that person the person is and adjusts reflexes and adds styles to counter his opponent.

This of course leads to a very cocky teenager who has competed and won countless tournaments and competitions in martial arts and gymnastics. He has several black belts and countless trophies but he is a white belt when dealing with people outside the ring.

Disadvantages

Juan’s metabolism is overactive due to his enhanced brain activity and his healing ability. So he eats more than a normal person. He eats constantly and gains no weight. This could lead to a power loss if he doesn’t eat enough.

Jaun if in great danger can become a being of pure combat. Basically his self preservation part of his brain kicks in and all energy is focused in staying alive. He will attack anything that is hostile to himself and people he knows.

@ M.I.T!!! Welcome back! I haven't seen you on the gaming thread in quite some time! I hope things are going well.

@ Arkrite- What everyone else said.

@Shock- I still think a Dinsosaur shapeshifter is a cool idea, regardless of the fact that Kid Dinosaur got chopped up in like, the third WildCards novel.

@Shadow13- I like Juan. Urban Speedster-Ninja is a pretty cool concept.

@EnigmaticOne- Espers are cool. Few get pitched. Don't feel confined to the standard Telepathy/Telekinesis powersets. In INV: 10 Years Later, my Esper Character has a Fibro-kinesis power. He manipulates organic and inorganic fibers like clothes and ropes for various effects. He can't affect other materials and full-on standard TK is way outside his powerset. Feel free to run wild (accesses race memory for various skill effects, projects mental illusions, emotion control, etc, etc) About the only powers I don't really care for is straight up Mind Control or Possession. Those are real plot-nerfing powers.

Remember though, while there will be conflicts with villains, alot of the game will be rp as you navigate the horrors of high school.

Are the students from South America or all over? I probably would do someone from North America since it's a write what you know thing.

The front page mentions the Americas, plural, so I'm assuming North America is fair game. Perfect for those Canadian or American parents who don't want to send their kids to the American School, which has quite a bad track record of student safety. At least on Earth-137/

Ok updated Juan with a rough build on powers, forgive me since i haven't built in hero lab in 2e for awhile.

I will have to go through and adjust the fighting styles some but diferant styles and forms give him give him alot of options on how to deal with the bad guys, especially when he starts to mix styles together.

Arthur Eld has divined it correctly. I thought I'd been more clear, that this school was an alternative to the New York school, so anywhere in the western hemisphere is available as a place of origin as long as it has a permanent population (so no "I'm from the western half of antarctica" origins, since antarctica has no permanent population). From Argentina to Canada and the Bahamas to the Virgin Islands are all available. Too far west in the pacific and the countries fall into the Asian Academy's region, but there are a lot of potential areas of origin available.

Physical Description Miguel is a fairly tan boy, with hints of Mestizo heritage in his features, but someone uneducated about such things might just think he was a fairly dark skinned European. His hair is short on the sides but longer on the top, worn in a fairly high pompadour that requires careful attention and maintenance. He has only the barest hint of facial hair yet, but he keeps it close shaven anyway. His eyes are deep-set in his head, with wide almost feminine lashes, just above a short and sharp nose. His jawline is angular and prominent, his cheekbones high and proud.

Miguel stands tall, his form lean, but not lanky-his muscles are prominent and well-defined in nearly every area. He typically wears sleeveless shirts and shorts, although he has been known to dress up in fancier clothes, usually of pastel hues and linen, when the occasion calls for it.

Biography: Migeul's father, Joseph Young, is a second-generation citizen of Belize, whose own father came from England to sit on a board that owned many commercial interests in the nation, particularly sugar fields. His mother, Aleta came from a mestizo family, descended from the natives and the early Spanish settlers, and she was slated for an ordinary life, probably driving a taxi like her mother had. Until her Neo-Sapien powers manifested.

For years, the young woman patrolled the streets of her hometown, Belize City. She happened to meet Joesph in her crime-fighting role as Irrompible when disgruntled former employees of his company tried to take him hostage. They soon began a passionate love affair that eventually blossomed into something long-lasting, and the two were wed in 1999.

Following the birth of Miguel in 2002, his mother retired to focus on raising her son, with Joseph also spending less time at the office. Miguel was always an active boy, hiking, swimming, and even taking an interest in amateur rock-climbing. During one hike there was a mild earthquake, causing a landslide of rocks and debris that would have overtaken Miguel and some of his school mates. His powers manifested, protecting him from the smaller stones and allowing him to hurl the larger ones aside like beach balls. That was when he was fifteen, and his parents soon agreed that he needed to be sent somewhere to have special education on using his powers, so that he would have as many options open for his future as possible.

I'm very interested to see how this world diverges from 137, and how things have progressed to 2018. Who's the world's greatest villain? Who is on the various Vindicator teams? Have there been any major SPB laws or policies made by various world powers?

Is Disco still dead?

Disco remains one of the worst scourges ever to face mankind. :twisted:

As for the rest, I'm busy working on it. Of course, I may concentrate on the Vindicators teams that are closer to this academy, as opposed to writing up the european team and the asian team before I need to.
