Need Cool Acronyms

Postby BerkaZerka » Mon Dec 22, 2003 7:36 am

What are some of the acronyms your heroes or villains are using for their organizations? Does anyone have acronyms that spell out inspiring words, like F.I.G.H.T or F.I.S.T. or M.E.R.C. or some-such?

Along the same lines - anyone have any ideas for filling in any of the following?

B.R.A.W.L.
D.O.M.I.N.I.O.N.
D.O.O.M.
F.A.N.G.
F.I.G.H.T.
F.I.S.T.
F.O.E.
H.A.M.M.E.R.
M.E.R.C.
S.H.I.E.L.D.
S.W.O.R.D.
W.O.L.F.

Serious or humorous, anything goes! :)

Oooh. Acronyms are fun. I haven't played with any of those in awhile:

F.O.E. - Friends of Evolution - Organization determined to "push" humanity along it's path of evolution, whether they want to or not. Highly into genetic research, and occasionally mutating innocent groups of people.

There's my first contribution. I'll play with the others.

In an old V&V game I ran, the players funded their operations by forming a advanced technology corporation called F.I.S.T.; which stood for Future Idea Systems Technology.

Space
Warfare
Organization for
Regional
Defense

In polar orbit over the Earth is the space fortress Damocles, charged with protecting Earth from alien invaders and space-based natural threats. The swift Rapier-class fighter craft provide escort from Earth to the colonies, in order to protect vs. piracy. Huge bulky Claymore battlecruisers patrol the inhabitated inner system, while delicate communications arrays float out past Pluto, listening for unauthorized ships approaching the solar system. [/b]

Warfare-Oriented LifeForm: a bio-engineered killing machine. not an organization, but would make a good "mook" type.

These are some great acronyms, keep them coming!

M.E.R.C. Militant Environmental Reconstruction Commandos. A super-powered group of eco terrorists dedicated to the eradication of “the plague of man upon the natural world.” Comprised of animal concept super villains, they attack and destroy large-scale infrastructure such as oil refineries, power plants, mining operations, etc…

Sweet! I didn't think anyone would come up with something for D.O.M.I.N.I.O.N. because it was too long. That's awesome!

Two I've used in my campaign are:

T.H.E.M.
Terrorist
Hierarchy of
Evil and
Malevolency

I have already talked about them under another thread in the GM's Eyes Only section of this board.

and also...

UNIT-M
United
Nations
International
Task-Force on
Meta-Human Affairs

A somewhat out-of-date web-site on UNIT-M can be found at: http://clumsycrusader.tripod.com/

My UNIT-M group has been recently resurrected after too many years of neglect and, as soon as we've had a chance to run through a few more adventures, you can expect I will be posting some interesting plot points and ideas for others to use.

Their first adventure since returning to active duty involved the Norse God of Thunder Thor Odinson (not the wimpy Marvel version), The Corvis (see his illustration on the M&M Fan Art site), a heavily modified Mountain King (from Crooks) and a big honkin' Dragon...oh yeah...and the Statue Of Liberty too...!
This creature is not Evil.
Stupid...perhaps VERY stupid...but not Evil.
