NEW RULES: Avatars and Sig Files

Postby Nikchick » Fri Aug 25, 2006 8:14 pm

Hello Atomic Think Tank posters,

After a rash of very, very large pics being used as avatars or included in sig files, we're going to be providing some more concrete rules for what is an acceptable size for your images.

In the future the Mod Squad may ask people to adjust their images if it comes to our attention that your avatar or sig file has grown beyond the bounds of politeness. Right now we're just asking that people take a look at their files and voluntarily dial them down to the new standards if they're not there already. Conforming to these guidelines should keep images from breaking the forums and making it less difficult or unpleasant for people to navigate through threads. Your understanding is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Your avatar should be no more than 150 x150 pixels if square. For example:

If your avatar image is a tall orientation, such as a figure of a superhero, it should be no larger than 150 x 250 pixels. For example:

If you wish to include an image in your sig file, it should be no larger than 400 x 125 pixels. For example:

Thank you!

I hope my sig image(s) are not too big!? I use the standard banner size measurements. However I'm sure it can be changed if deemed necessary.

Close enough, I'm sure no one is going to bust your chops over it. :)

Mine is probably one of the offending ones. I had been using it since the M&M forums were over at the GR site. Since nobody in charge had ever requested me to change it, I thought that it was ok. Hopefully, the mods will give me a few days to resize the original and repost the new image to the host site.

Why are we still talking about this in suggestions if the solution (which seems fine with me as it goes more to the spirit rather than the letter of the law) is already done?

Huh, well look at that.... the post I quoted this from seems to have mysteriously dissappeared. I wonder how that happened?
